Abstract

The article presents a study on synthetic approaches to determine the bioactivities of three natural 10-membered lactones microcarpalide, mueggelone, and Sch 642305. It notes that mueggelone is an inhibitor of fish development, microcarpalide is a microfilament disrupting agent, and Sch 642305 is an inhibitor of bacterial DNA primase. It is concluded that synthetic studies on natural products make a contribution to the development of both chemistry and biology.
