A new marine epipsammic diatom species, Cymbellonitzschia biseriata C.H. Li, H.H. Liu, Y.H. Gao & C.P. Chen sp. nov. from Fujian Province, China, is described, and is the first record of this genus in China. The morphological observations and species description are based on scanning electron microscopy and light microscopy. The main characteristics of C. biseriata are as follows: valves are semi-lanceolate; striae are biseriate or change from uniseriate to biseriate; canal raphe is located and discontinuous on the ventral side; distal raphe ends are curved and extended to the dorsal side of the valve, forming raised helictoglossae; areolae are occluded by domed hymenes; girdle consists of 4–7 perforated bands. Highbush blueberry is a blueberry species native to North America and is a food crop of significant economic importance for Canada. Plant-parasitic nematodes are known to infest this crop. Species of Hemicycliophora, commonly known as sheath nematodes, are obligatory plant-parasites, and some cause diseases on a wide range of crops. A population of Hemicycliophora of high number was found in highbush blueberry fields in Norfolk and Middlesex counties of southwestern Ontario. Following through morphological and molecular studies, this population was determined a new species as Hemicycliophora potteri n. sp. This species is characterised by its outer sheath adpressed fitting to the body, lateral fields with diagonal connections of transverse striae, amphid apertures covered by lateral plates, lip region slightly set-off with four annuli; excretory pore anterior to the base of the pharynx, stylet knob cavity moderate, vulva lips modified, tail tapering gradually and more abruptly towards the last one-third, and no males were found. Molecularly, the 18S, and 28S ribosomal DNA sequences are most similar to those of H. thienemanni, H. similis, H. gracilis, and a few unidentified species. A dichotomous key for the diagnostic of the species of Hemicycliophora in Canada was presented. The genus Gelidium is a representative element of the Mexican Tropical Pacific. The recent use of molecular tools has allowed us to resolve the taxonomic problems of some species and to increase the knowledge regarding this group of red algae in the region. The present study aimed to evaluate specimens collected in the southern Mexican Tropical Pacific using molecular markers and morphological characters. Samples were collected from four locations along the coast of Oaxaca state. They were characterised morphologically and molecularly using rbcL and COI–5P. Phylogenetic analysis classified the examined specimens into three independent clades, representing taxonomic entities different from what has been described previously for the genus. With the support of morphological data and genetic distances, we propose three new species for the Mexican Tropical Pacific: Gelidium dawsonii sp. nov., Gelidium longisporophyllum sp. nov., and Gelidium rubruparvum sp. nov. Some of the distinct characteristics of these species are based on little size of G. rubruparvum, the branching pattern of G. longisporophyllum and G. dawsonii, the number of layers of medullary cells in G. dawsonii and G. rubruparvum, and the tetrasporangial sorus in G. longisporophyllum. We also highlight the relationship between Asian and Mexican species and the value of using different tools in the evaluation of the taxonomic status of the genus Gelidium. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: Coccidiosis is a serious parasitic disease in camels caused by an intestinal protozoan parasite of the genus Eimeria , which is linked to significant causes of reduced milk and meat production. In Saudi Arabia, scare literature focused on the coprological investigation of dromedary camels (Camelus dromedarius). To determine the taxonomic status of camel parasite species, we performed morphological characterization of oocysts and genetic analysis (18S rRNA and ITS-1 gene regions) of Eimeria species collected from camels in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Methods: A total of 150 faecal samples were obtained from camels at the old camel market. These samples were tested for the presence of Eimeria oocysts using the conventional floatation technique before being sporulated in a 2.5% potassium dichromate solution. Eimeria oocysts were morphologically and molecularly examined and identified, and the infection rate of parasitic infections was determined. Results: Our findings revealed that the overall frequency of oocysts was 30%. The identified species was Eimeria rajasthani , which had a typical ellipsoidal oocyst shape. Oocystic polar granule, micropyle, micropylar cap, and oocyst residuum are not visible. Sporocysts are oval with stieda body. Sporocyst residuum contains many granules and sporozoites with refractile bodies and nuclei. Genetic analyses of the sequence data from the partial 18S rRNA and ITS-1 gene regions revealed that the sequences obtained from E. rajasthani oocysts are related to DNA sequences reported from E. lamae from the Alpaca from China, particularly the 18S rRNA sequences. Conclusion: This study emphasized the need to use molecular phylogenetic tools to describe camel intestinal coccidian parasites with traditional morphology-based approaches to better understand their biology. A new species, Ditylenchoides anyae sp. n., recovered from soil in the headland areas of non-cultivated fields in Alborz Province, Iran, is described and illustrated based on its morphological, morphometric, and molecular characters. The new species was characterised by a slender body and length of 784 (663-925) μm (females) and 667-712 μm (males), lip region continuous, stylet length 6.4 (6.0-7.0) μm, lateral fields with four incisures, and excretory pore situated 110 (82-137) μm from the anterior end, median bulb of pharynx fusiform, non-muscular, and non-valvate, isthmus elongate, slender ending at a pyriform basal pharyngeal bulb not overlapping intestine, vulva with distinct and relatively large lateral flaps, a well-developed post-vulval uterine sac, 31.3 (27-35) μm long, a female tail elongate-conoid with pointed terminus; and male with adanal bursa and spicules 21-22 μm long. The new species was characterised using the D2-D3 expansion segments of 28S rRNA, ITS rRNA, and partial 18S rRNA gene sequences. This study was conducted in the context of a taxonomic treatment for Myrcia species occurring in the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro. While revising current synonyms of endemic species of Myrcia sect. Gomidesia, we found consistent morphological separation between Myrcia gestasiana and Myrcia dolichopetala, presently treated as synonyms and detached here. Individuals co‐occurring with M. dolichopetala are here recognized and described as a new species, Myrcia macrobracteosa, the specific epithet being allusive of its unusually showy, persistent and accrescent bracts and bracteoles. A taxonomic treatment is provided for each species based on herbarium collections and field data, and their diagnostic characters are contrasted in a comparative table. Morphological plates of fresh and dry material are also provided with notes on taxonomy and distribution, including a map of occurrence records. The three taxa occur in urban forest remnants under extreme threat in the Rio de Janeiro Metropolitan Region. A new species of the Caribbean genus CyrtopholisSimon, 1892, Cyrtopholis montserratsp. nov. is described from the United Kingdom Overseas Territory (UKOT) of Montserrat, based on both sexes. Cyrtopholis femoralisPocock, 1903 is redescribed from the holotype male with the first figures of the genitalia of this Montserrat endemic spider presented. An annotated checklist and taxonomic review of the spiders of Saint Helena is presented. A total of 88 genera and 114 species are known; of these, 12 genera and 45 species are endemic. Two new genera and two new species are described: Anapistula martinae Sherwood, Harvey, Fowler, Joshua, Stevens, Scipio-O'Dean & Ellick sp. nov., Helenidion Sherwood, Marusik, Fowler, Stevens & Joshua gen. nov., Ischnothyreus christyjoae Sherwood, Henrard, Peters, Stevens & Fowler sp. nov., and Trust Sherwood, Marusik, Wilkins, P. A new monotypic genus of the subfamily Theraphosinae Thorell, 1869 is described from the Western Cordillera of the Andes in northern Ecuador. The new genus is diagnosed by its distinctive male palpal morphology, including a semi-spatulate bulb caused by a well developed retrolateral inferior keel, presence of a cymbial apophysis, absence of a tibial apophysis, and a new character described in this contribution as a retrolateral tegular process. The Crepidinae are the largest subtribe of the Cichorieae (Asteraceae). Debate remains over the circumscription and phylogeny of this subtribe, mainly due to its complex morphology and the poor phylogenetic signal provided by traditional Sanger sequencing markers. In this study, a well‐resolved phylogeny of the subtribe Crepidinae, consisting of seven highly supported clades, was obtained for the first time using nuclear data with a phylogenomics approach (Hyb‐Seq). Using this phylogeny along with other evidence, we propose a new taxonomic framework for the Crepidinae with seven lines and 29 genera, which merges subtribe Chondrillinae with the Crepidinae. Two new species of Sternoppia (Sternoppia) (Oribatida, Sternoppiidae)—S. (S.) venezuelaensissp. nov. and S. (S.) parareticulatasp. nov.—are described, based on materials collected from leaf litter in northern Venezuela. Sternoppia (Sternoppia) venezuelaensissp. nov. differs from the closely related species, S. (S.) sphaerodendron, by the morphology of the bothridial seta head, the length of the notogastral setae h2, h3, the presence of the notogastral seta c, number of the genital setae, and the distance between epimeral setae 3a. Sternoppia (Sternoppia) parareticulatasp. nov.differs from the closely related species, S. (S.) reticulata, by the body size, the morphology of the bothridial seta head, the location of the costulae, and the presence of the notogastral seta c. A new location and habitat for S. A combination of morphological studies and multigene molecular phylogenetic analyses unveiled two significant novel species of boletes namely Anthracoporus indohimalayanus sp. nov. and Boletus dhakuricus sp. nov. from the states of Sikkim and Uttarakhand, respectively. The first novel species, i.e. A. indohimalayanus is also a new generic record of the genus Anthracoporus from India, whereas the second novel species i.e. B. dhakuricus is a member of wild edible porcini mushroom. Introduction: Cortinariaceae, which belongs to the Agaricales order, is a globally recognized family, known for its high species diversity. Methods: Eight internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and nuclear large ribosomal subunit (LSU) sequences were newly generated, and phylogenetic analyses were performed by combining ITS and LSU datasets. Four species were identified as forming four independent lineages with robust support in phylogenies based on both datasets. Results: These new species in the taxa, Cortinarius gansuensis, Cortinarius tricholomoidus, Cortinarius vinoso-griseum, and Phlegmacium subcalyptratum from Northwestern China are described and illustrated based on morphological and molecular evidence. Cortinarius gansuensis is characterized by a convex and brownish vinaceous pileus, generative hyphae with clamp connections, and ellipsoid basidiospores (8.5-10.6 µm × 5.4-6.8 µm); Cortinarius tricholomoidus is characterized by a broadly umbonate and snuff brown pileus, generative hyphae with clamp connections, and broadly ellipsoid to subglobose basidiospores (7.4-8.5 µm × 6.2-7.3 µm); Cortinarius vinoso-griseum is characterized by a violaceous gray pileus, generative hyphae with clamp connections, and smaller basidiospores (7.5-9.7 µm × 5.6-7.8 µm); and Phlegmacium subcalyptratum is characterized by a small and apricot-orange pileus, generative hyphae with clamp connections, and fusiform basidiospores (10.0-12.7 µm × 5.6-6.8 µm). The magnificent catshark Proscyllium magnificum was described in 2004 based off five specimens collected in the Andaman Sea off Myanmar. It was originally allocated to the genus Proscyllium, but recent molecular analyses suggested it was more closely related to the harlequin catshark Ctenacis fehlmanni from the western Indian Ocean. This study incorporated meristics and external and internal morphology, together with molecular data to reclassify the magnificent catshark as Ctenacis magnificum and provides revised diagnoses for the genera Ctenacis and Proscyllium. Ctenacis consists of two allopatric Indian Ocean species, while Proscyllium is monotypic genus confined to the northwest Pacific. The revised Ctenacis can be distinguished from Proscyllium in having a broader and longer head (head length 21%–23% vs. 16%–18% of total length), distance between pectoral and pelvic bases shorter than head length (vs. greater than head length), more teeth (upper jaw with 80–86 vs. 46–62 tooth files), and a complex colour pattern of dark reddish‐brown blotches and saddles (vs. colour pattern of small black spots). Asterostroma roseoalbum sp. nov. was found in Yunnan Province, China, is described here as a new species based on its morphology and phylogeny. Asterostroma roseoalbum is characterised by its felted-membranous to pellicular, fimbriate basidiomata with a smooth hymenophore and a dimitic hyphal system bearing generative hyphae with simple-septate and echinulate, subglobose to globose basidiospores measuring as 8–9.5 × 7–9 µm. Phylogenetic analyses of the new species were based on the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and large subunit (nrLSU) of ribosomal DNA (rDNA) sequences. The phylogenetic analysis indicated that the new species belongs to the genus Asterostroma, and is closely related to two species A. macrosporum and A. muscicola. Based on morphological observations, molecular phylogenetic analyses and literature consultations, a new species of Gesneriaceae, Petrocodon mirus, is described and illustrated here. This new species exhibits morphological similarity with P. pulchriflorus and P. hechiensis, but is easily distinguished from the latter two by its slightly leathery leaf blade, liner to ligulate‐oblong lip lobes, and shorter tube with constriction at middle. In addition, the new species differs from P. pulchriflorus by its reflexed adaxial lip lobes, and from P. hechiensis by its included stamen and pistil. However, the stigma of P. mirus is much similar to the chiritoid stigma diagnostic for ChiritaBuch.‐Ham. ex Don (now mostly included in Primulina); based on this observation a new hypothesis for the evolution of the chiritoid stigma is proposed. Two new species of oribatid mites (Oribatida)—Hermannobates neotropicus sp. nov. (Hermanniellidae) and Mucrobates venezuelaensissp. nov. (Scheloribatidae)—are described, based on materials collected from sweep sample in the cloud forest in Western Venezuela. The genus Mucrobates is recorded in the Venezuelan fauna for the first time. Hermannobates neotropicus sp. nov. differs from the closely related species, H. intermedius Călugăr, 1990, by length and morphology of the bothridial seta. Mucrobates venezuelaensis sp. nov. differs from the closely related species, M. cayoaguaensis Ermilov & Kontschán, 2021, by the body size, the length of the bothridial and exobothridial setae, the presence of the pedotectum II, keel-shaped ridge and seta v’ on the leg genu II, and the location of the adanal seta ad1. Thirty-four species of oribatid mites (Oribatida), belonging to 29 genera and 14 families, were collected from Saona Island, Southeast Dominican Republic. A new species of the genus Pergalumna—P. Palisada corallopsis has a widely reported distribution in the western and eastern Atlantic and some areas of the Indo-Pacific Ocean, whereas P. furcata has a more restricted distribution, reported only from Brazil and Cuba. Palisada corallopsis and P. furcata were collected from their type localities, Havana, Cuba and Ceará, Brazil, respectively, and compared by morphological and molecular analyses using rbcL and COI-5P genes. The molecular results placed the sequences from the type locality of both species in the same clade, showing low genetic divergence, 0.95 % for rbcL and 1.6 % for COI-5P. Morphologically, the species share similar habits, with branchlets bi-to trifurcated, cortical cells that may be arranged as a palisade and connected by secondary pit-connections. Our detailed morphological observations, including examination of the type specimens, and molecular analyses demonstrate that P. corallopsis and P. furcata are conspecific, P. furcata being a later taxonomic synonym of P. corallopsis. Hymenagaricus is a genus of small, veiled agaric mushrooms in family Agaricaceae. Species of the genus are distributed in paleotropical region. The members of this genus are characterized by a squamulose pileus, squamules consisted of hymeniform or pseudoparenchymatous tissue, and the absence of both pleurocystidia and clamp connections. In the present study, a robust phylogeny of Agaricaceae is provided, where Hymenagaricus formed an independent lineage with strong phylogenetic support. Molecular clock analyses using BEAST, based on internal transcribed spacer region (ITS1-5.8S-ITS2 = ITS) and D1/D2 domains of large subunit of nuclear ribosomal DNA (28S), and TEF1α sequence data of Agaricaceae, suggested that the maximum crown age of Hymenagaricus is approximately 51.83 million years (Myr). Furthermore, we also reported three new species in the genus, namely Hymenagaricus floccosus, Hy. pelliculosus, and Hy. striatus from lowland in northern Pakistan. These species are described based on morphological features of basidiomata and molecular phylogeny of above three DNA regions. Morphologically, Hymenagaricus floccosus has densely, whitish floccose fibrils which covering pileus and stipe surfaces and brownish cap center without prominent pellicle. Hymenagaricus pelliculosus is characterized by a pelliculose pileus, where pellicle forms a crown-like structure on cap center, a unique feature in the genus. Hymenagaricus striatus is characterized by a reddish-brown pellicle at center, pileus surface striate towards margin, and margins are appendiculate. With this study, the number of known species in the genus increased to 24. It is concluded that the low altitude mountains of Malakand region are rich in the diversity of Agaricaceae and further taxonomic studies are suggested. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Zoraptera is among the least studied insect orders, and basic information is lacking for many species. Filippo Silvestri described this order in 1913 based on three species (Zorotypus guineensis, Z. ceylonicus, and Z. javanicus), but interestingly, none of these species have been observed or described again. Although the original descriptions were prepared precisely, male copulatory organs, which are essential for identification and classification, were not presented, nor were descriptions of wing venation. Zorotypus ceylonicus Silvestri, 1913 was tentatively classified into the genus Spiralizoros Kočárek, Horká & Kundrata, 2020 based on its external morphology. In this study, we assessed unidentified Zoraptera deposited in the Biological Museum of Lund University, Sweden, and found numerous examples of Z. ceylonicus collected in 1962 in five different localities in Sri Lanka. We found that this species shared the ground morphology of the male copulatory organ with the genus Spiralizoros, but in contrast to all other members of this genus, it had a short and uncoiled intromittent organ that ended in tiny hooks and a spiky structure. Based on the characteristics of the male genitals, we describe a new nominotypical genus, Aspiralizoros gen. nov. Detailed supplementary descriptions of the morphology of male genitalia and wings of A. ceylonicus (Silvestri, 1913), comb. nov., are presented here and discussed in the context of current knowledge. The common practice of using subspecies as conservation targets raises the question of whether efforts are focused on preserving conspicuous components of the species' phenotypic variability rather than evolutionarily significant units. To address this question, in this study we performed a comprehensive morphological and genetic assessment on all the subspecies of wall lizard described for the Aeolian Archipelago (Italy) to determine whether they represent distinct evolutionary lineages and/or discrete phenotypic partitions. Further, we applied a monophyly test to 70 subspecies belonging to seven wall lizard species occurring in Italy, based on our results and on previous phylogeographic studies. We found that none of the Aeolian subspecies represents a distinct evolutionary lineage, despite some morphological differentiation of island populations across the archipelago, suggesting a very recent origin of island populations and of the observed phenotype variation. Across seven wall lizard species, tests revealed that lizard subspecies rarely (< 9% of cases) match evolutionary units. This study demonstrates that intraspecific taxonomy of wall lizards is a poor predictor of phylogeographic partitions and evolutionary units, and therefore of limited use (if not dangerous) for defining conservation and management units. A better approach would be relying on the integration of genomic and phenotypic data to assess the evolutionary significance and conservation value of phenotypic and genetic units within species. Two genera, Neotegonotus Newkirk & Keifer and Boczekiana Petanovic (Eriophyidae: Phyllocoptinae) are recorded for the first time from Saudi Arabia with two new species; N. saudiensissp. nov. collected from Ficus carica L. (Moraceae) and B. bahahensissp. nov. collected from Anthemis rascheyana Boiss (Asteraceae) described and illustrated based on females. During a survey of marine biodiversity in the deep sea off northeastern Guam, two marine desmoscolecid nematodes belonging to the subgenus Tricoma were discovered. Tricoma (Tricoma) disparseta sp. nov. was described based on specimens collected from sponge and starfish habitats on a seamount at depths ranging from 1300 to 1500 m. Tricoma (Tricoma) disparseta sp. nov. is distinguished by having 59 to 62 main rings, 9 to 10 subdorsal setae, and 14 to 18 subventral setae on each side. Notable features include the differentiation in length and insertion between the subdorsal and subventral setae, as well as the amphid extending to the second or third main ring. Additionally, the spicules have a relatively small capitulum at the proximal end, while the gubernaculum is bent into a hooked shape. The specimen of T. (T.) longirostris observed in this study closely resembles previously reported specimens, characterized by 78 main rings, a long and narrow head shape, eight to nine subdorsal setae, 14 to 15 subventral setae, and a gubernaculum with a knobbed apophysis. Two Tricoma species from the Northwest Pacific Ocean are described in detail, and pictorial keys and comparative tables for species identification are provided for groups with 50 to 64 main rings. Discolaimus haridwarensis sp. n. is described from agricultural fields of sugarcane in the Haridwar district, India. It is characterized by its 2.11–2.32 mm long body, lip region offset by deep constriction and 27–30 μm wide, odontostyle 20–23 μm long with aperture occupying 50–54% of its length, 436–487 μm long neck, pharyngeal expansion 57–59% of total neck length, uterus a simple tube-like structure 22–31 μm long or 0.3–0.5 times the corresponding body diameter, pars refringens vaginae absent, transverse vulva (V = 48–55), female tail conoid (34–40 µm, c = 53–68, c′ = 1.0–1.3) with rounded terminus, and males absent. The phylogenetic analysis inferred from the D2-D3 expansion segments of 28S rRNA gene and 18S rRNA gene sequences showed that Discolaimus haridwarensis sp. n. clustered with other dorylaimid species from the genus Discolaimus and the subfamily Discolaiminae. Origami, the art of paper folding, has long fascinated researchers and designers in its potential to replicate and tap the complexity of nature. In this paper, we pursue the crossing of origami engineering structures and biology, the realm of biologically-inspired origami structures categorized by the two biggest taxonomy kingdoms and DNA origami. Given the diversity of life forms that Earth comprises, we pursue an analysis of biomimetic designs that resemble intricate patterns and functionalities occurring in nature. Our research begins by setting out a taxonomic framework for the classification of origami structures based on biologically important kingdoms. From each of these, we explore the engineering structures inspired by morphological features, behaviors, and ecological adaptations of organisms. We also discuss implications in realms such as sustainability, biomaterials development, and bioinspired robotics. Thus, by parlaying the principles found in nature's design playbook through the art of folding, biologically inspired origami becomes fertile ground for interdisciplinary collaboration and creativity. In an extensive fungal investigation conducted in southern China, a large number of fungal strains were isolated by collecting and treating diseased and decayed leaves. Using internal transcribed spacer regions (ITSs) sequence data for a BLAST search to screen for suspected strains of Daldinia, followed by phylogenetic analysis using internal transcribed spacer regions, partial sequences of the large subunit of the rDNA (LSU), RNA polymerase II (rpb2), and beta tubulin (tub2) sequence data, combined with morphological characteristics of anamorphic species, ninety-four strains of Daldinia were identified. Furthermore, their geographical distribution and host specificity of the genus were thoroughly analyzed and summarized. SUMMARY: The diatom genus Druehlago was established to differentiate the type species from Craspedostauros and Achnanthes, on the basis of unique heteropolar, cuneate frustules and numerous lenticular plastids. The phylogenetic placement of Druehlago has, until now, relied solely on morphological evidence, suggesting a close relationship with the genus Craspedostauros. In the present study, we discovered a population of Druehlago cf. cuneata along the coast of Japan and established a cultured strain. Molecular phylogenetic analysis based on rbcL, psbC and 18S rRNA genes was conducted to explore the phylogenetic position and classification of Druehlago. Our results revealed that D. cf. cuneata belongs to the Craspedostauros clade, but with weak statistical support, which is, in turn, sister to Achnanthes. Given the lack of support for various nodes within the Craspedostauros clade, constrained trees were constructed based on several hypotheses regarding the phylogenetic position of Druehlago. The hypothesis inferring monophyly of Druehlago and Achnanthes was statistically rejected, which highlights the close relationship between Druehlago and Craspedostauros. However, our topology tests provided no further resolution regarding the phylogenetic position of Druehlago within or outside Craspedostauros. Context. The extinction risk of sharks and rays exceeds that of most other vertebrates. Genetic analyses can help identify conservation risks. Aims. Identification of Fiji's maskray and testing the null hypothesis of no genetic differentiation within the species over time. Methods. Mitochondrial DNA cytochrome oxidase subunit 1 (COI) barcoding was used for species identification, and DArTseq technology to monitor the genetic diversity. Cohort samples were collected in 2015 and 2022. A subset from each cohort was barcoded. The genetic survey was complemented by a size comparison between the two cohorts. Key results. Barcoding of the COI gene showed a maximum similarity of 97.84% to Kuhl's maskray (Neotrygon kuhlii) and 96.83% to the Coral Sea maskray (Neotrygon trigonoides), but no higher-level distinct species match to reference sequences in the Barcode of Life Datasystem. Genotyping of 56 individuals in two cohorts yielded 21,293 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), and 3871 SNPs per individual were retained. The neutral genetic diversity remained stable over time. The 2015 cohort showed positive inbreeding, with one full-sibling pair identified in each cohort. Body size comparisons indicated a significant reduction in disc length and width in the 2022 cohort. Conclusions. The smaller body size of the 2022 cohort may hint at increased fishing pressure, but genetic diversity has not been affected. Thus, the null hypothesis is accepted. Implications. These findings provide insights into the genetic diversity of Fiji's maskray and enable a genetic comparison with current Neotrygon species known in the region. Six new species of Tricholoma (Fr.) Staude in sections Genuina (Tricholoma amarissimum, Tricholoma lutescentifolium, Tricholoma pudorinum, Tricholoma sapineum) and Fucata (Tricholoma griseobrunneum, Tricholoma pallidogriseum) are formally described from North America east of the Rocky Mountains based on their nrITS sequence, morphology, ecology, and distribution patterns. Those species are found in summer or fall in deciduous or coniferous forests. Descriptions of their morphological characters are provided, along with photographs of the basidiomata and their micromorphology. The new species are compared with similar species occurring in North America and Europe. Tricholoma felschii Ovrebo, Hughes & Halling, in section Fucata, is here considered to represent three species, T. felschii s. str., Tricholoma subumbrinum A.H. Rhabditis maupasi is re-described and reviewed based on morphological, morphometric, and molecular (D2-D3 expansion segment of the rDNA 28S) analysis collected from northwest Iran. The species is characterised by having a 1.1-1.9 mm long body, lateral fields with three incisures, the lip region offset by a depression, 12-15 μm wide, with six globular lips, the stoma rhabditoid, 14-20 μm long, with distinct cheilo-, gymno- and stegostom; cheilostom slightly cuticularised, gymno-promesostegostom a short tube with well-cuticularised walls, metastegostom with glottoid apparatus bearing small teeth, stomatal or pharyngeal collar covering 40-60% of stoma; pharynx well developed, the pharyngeal corpus consisting of a more or less cylindrical procorpus and swollen metacorpus (median bulb), basal bulb ovoid to pyriform, with grinder and narrow haustrulum, excretory pore at basal bulb level; vulva a transverse slit with protruding lips, the female tail conical-elongated (65-75 μm, c = 16-26, c′ = 2.0-2.5), the male tail conoid, ventrally arcuate (29-34 μm, c = 22-41, c′ = 0.7-1.0); spicules free, with pointed end and dagger-shaped, 61-72 μm long, bursa pseudopeloderan, and with eight pairs of genital papillae plus the phasmid, and gubernaculum 34-36 μm long. Furthermore, its relationship with four closely related species of the genus is discussed. A molecular phylogenetic study using a partial sequence of large subunit ribosomal DNA fragments revealed that R. maupasi forms a clade with R. terricola, recorded previously from Iran. Paralimnini Distant, 1908, is a notable leafhopper tribe that exhibits a wide distribution across all biogeographical regions, namely the Palearctic, Nearctic, Afrotropical, Oriental, Neotropical, and Australian regions. Among these, the Oriental region demonstrates the highest diversity of Paralimnini, with a significant portion of this diversity remaining unexplored according to recent investigations. This study focuses on examining 10 species under seven genera of the Paralimnini leafhopper tribe found in Pakistan. A comprehensive morphological study is conducted, which includes the description of two new genera, Paralimnolus gen. nov. and Lalianlus gen. nov. , with P. bicolor sp. nov. and L. bifurcates sp. nov. within the tribe. The study meticulously describes and provides illustrations of all the taxa based on careful observations of specimens obtained from Pakistan. Additionally, the study furnishes an updated checklist and a key to facilitate the identification of known and new Pakistani genera belonging to the tribe Paralimnini. The present findings shed light on the diversity and distribution patterns of the Paralimnini tribe in Pakistan, particularly emphasizing the junction of the Oriental and Palearctic regions in the northern parts, as these parts of the country serve as a significant reservoir of undocumented species. The genus Malgachebates (Oribatida, Plasmobatidae) is recorded in Ethiopia for the first time. A new species—M. theroni Ermilov sp. nov.—is described, based on adult and nymphal instars collected from litter in bamboo belt. Data on nymphal instars are the first data on juveniles within Malgachebates and the detailed juvenile data within Plasmobatidae. Two new species of oribatid mites of the genus Oribatella (Oribatida, Oribatellidae)—O. paradechambrierisp. nov. and O. parastrinatiisp. nov.—are described, based on adults collected from rainforest litter in Guatemala. Oribatella paradechambrierisp. nov. is similar to O. dechambrieri but differs by the smaller body size, the length of the teeth of the lamellae, the relative length of the free distal and fixed mediobasal parts of the lamella, the size of the trapezoid region in basal part of the prodorsum, and the length of the interlamellar seta. Oribatella parastrinatiisp. nov. is similar to O. strinatii but differs by the smaller body size, the morphology of the rostrum, the morphology of the tutorial cusp, the presence of large dense foveolae in the centrodorsal part of the notogaster and between the genital and anal apertures, and dense short transverse ridges on the medioposterior part of the notogaster, and the number of genital setae.
