For the thirty-third year, the Research and Theory Division of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) is sponsoring the publication of these Proceedings. This is Volume #2 of the 33rd "Annual Proceedings of Selected Papers on the Practice of Educational Communications and Technology." This volume includes papers presented at the national convention of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology held in Anaheim, California. The papers in this volume primarily deal with instruction and training issues. Papers dealing with research and development are contained in the companion volume (Volume #1). This study aimed to reveal general landscape of research on teacher resilience, employing descriptive and bibliometric analyses. Descriptive analyses were performed utilizing Web of Science's internal system, while bibliometric analyses were executed through the VOSviewer program. Web of Science Core Collection was used as a data source. Citation analyses of publications, authors, and journals, as well as co-authorship, co-citation, and common word analyses were conducted. The research reveals a timeline of publications, indicating a notable surge in 2006, and a substantial increase in 2021. The countries with the highest number of publications on teacher resilience, in descending order, are the United States of America (USA), Australia, the United Kingdom (UK), and the People's Republic of China (PRC), according to the research findings. Authors such as Gu, C. Day, S. Beltman, C. Mansfield, and A. Price emerged from the citation analysis. Based on the results from the co-citation analysis, C. Day and Q. Gu were identified as the most frequently co-cited authors. The co-occurrence analysis of keywords highlighted key terms like resilience, teacher education, early career teachers, teacher candidates, professional learning, school leadership, and COVID-19. The findings were contextualized within the existing literature, leading to recommendations for future research. These proceedings contain the papers of the IADIS International Conference on Cognition and Exploratory Learning in the Digital Age (CELDA 2013), October 22-24, 2013, which has been organized by the International Association for Development of the Information Society (IADIS), co-organized by The University of North Texas (UNT), sponsored by the Association for Educational Communication and Technologies (AECT), and endorsed by the Japanese Society for Information and Systems in Education (JSISE). The CELDA 2013 conference aims to address the main issues concerned with evolving learning processes and supporting pedagogies and applications in the digital age. There have been advances in both cognitive psychology and computing that have affected the educational arena. The convergence of these two disciplines is increasing at a fast pace and affecting academia and professional practice in many ways. Paradigms such as just-in-time learning, constructivism, student-centered learning, and collaborative approaches have emerged and are being supported by technological advancements such as simulations, virtual reality, and multi-agents systems. These developments have created both opportunities and areas of serious concerns. This conference aims to cover both technological as well as pedagogical issues related to these developments. This study reports on the 2019-2020 October-February cycle of the project, Blending Massive Open Online Courses in English Teacher Education with Telecollaboration (BMELTET). The project blends the MOOC "Understanding Language" (Futurelearn) with telecollaboration -- or Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) or Virtual Exchange (VE). It involves students enrolled on teacher education courses at both undergraduate level (from Spain) and postgraduate level (from the UK and China). This work discusses some of the challenges encountered in this 2019-2020 pre-COVID cycle and proposes, in line with other previous related studies, that telecollaboration is troublesome for students as it takes them out of their comfort zone. It does not align with what they were expecting to study at university. At the same time, BMELTET illustrates the gains that students and staff can make when engaging in such a project and its transformational impact on their beliefs. The Commission on International Adult Education (CIAE) of the American Association for Adult and Continuing Education (AAACE) provides a forum for the discussion of international issues related to adult education in general, as well as adult education in various countries around the globe. These "Proceedings" are from the Commission of International Adult Education's (CIAE) 2022 International Pre-Conference. This year's "Proceedings" contain 12 papers from 18 authors, representing CIAE's usual diversity of authors and topics. Researcher and research sites include Canada, China, Ghana, Italy, Nigeria, and the United States. A major theme continuing from the 2021 conference is the impact of COVID-19 on learners in a variety of settings, including teacher training, adult basic education, and higher education. A second major theme concerns cross-cultural learning, including among migrants and in higher education. Some papers address adult learning experiences in myriad social contexts, such as learning for democracy, aging, military, and spiritual learning. A special feature at this year's Pre-Conference is a focus on CONFINTEA VII and the Marrakech Framework for Action. A panel and discussion session on these important endeavors are part of the Pre-Conference Agenda, with key documents provided in the 2022 Proceedings. [Individual papers are indexed in ERIC.]

In China there are two kinds of teachers in skilled worker schools. One is the theory teacher who teaches general knowledge courses, basic technical courses, and specialized technology. The other is the production practice instructor who teaches basic skill and comprehensive competence in the production process. Teachers in skilled worker schools come from three sources: university or college graduates, most of whom are theory teachers; outstanding graduates from skilled worker schools; and technical personnel and experienced workers from industry. There are about 84,000 theory teachers and 18,000 instructors in the skilled worker schools. The ratio of the theory teachers to students is 1:12 to 1:18, and the ratio of practice instructors to students is 1:16 to 1:22. Most of the technical teachers did not receive special training for vocational-technical education, so there is room for more training. There are three approaches to technical teacher training. Teachers' colleges should be the base of technical teacher training. Advanced vocational-technical training centers and senior skilled worker schools should be the base of practice instructor training. Technical teacher training is more difficult than theory teacher training; more centers for this type of education are needed. Inservice teacher education can be accomplished through regional refresher schools, correspondence courses and television education programs, cooperative teacher research activities, and strengthening of the relationship between school and industry. The Gender and Sexuality in Mathematics Education Working Group convened in 2018 with a focus on (1) language use, multidimensional understandings of gender and sexuality, and influences of these on methods, results, and interpretations; (2) interactions between gender/sexuality and students' self-perceptions; and (3) the roles of curriculum, pedagogy, and teacher education in students' experiences of gender and sexuality. The 2019 Working Group will continue with these foci, but with an added dimension of learning through examination of work in gender and sexuality in mathematics education across the world, including country/culture-specific studies, and cross-cultural studies. This paper explores the possibilities for building research-oriented, school-engaged teacher education through the professional learning of volunteer teacher-researchers. Volunteerism in education covers a broad spectrum of people and activities ranging from working in school canteens to supporting language and literacy programs. This paper reports on the professional learning of volunteer Mandarin teaching assistants as they develop into volunteer teacher-researchers. Situating this study in relation to Australian National Asian Languages and Studies in Schools Program, this paper draws on concepts from "Asia literacy" for its theoretical framework. A review of the research literature points to a need to value volunteers' contributions to teaching experience as a way of promoting volunteerism in schools. Elements of the research method for the study reported here include the project's focus, the participants and their selection, and ethical protocols. The analysis of evidence explores the transition through the work-integrated professional learning of these volunteer teacher-researchers, tracking their development through a collection of 28 documents. The discussion section uses the concept of "Asia literacy" to analyse the value of this research-oriented, school-engaged teacher education program. (Contains 4 tables.)

In response to the rapid development of science and technology and increasingly intensified world-wide economic competition, the Chinese central government is determined to improve basic education and has called for a full scale nation-wide education reform focusing on "quality education"--a paradigm shift from the traditional emphasis of student academic achievement and basic intellectual skills to the new focus of all-round development of children and improvement of the overall quality of citizenry for the 21st century. Whereas the vision of the reform described by the government requires changes throughout the entire education system, the success of all reform efforts will eventually depend on availability (or supply), quality, and determination of teachers. This paper examines the current state of teacher education systems in China and discusses interactions between science teacher supply and demand, teacher quality, and policies. We are delighted to welcome you to the International Conference on Education and New Developments 2015-END 2015, taking place in Porto, Portugal, from 27 to 29 of June. Education, in our contemporary world, is a right since we are born. Every experience has a formative effect on the constitution of the human being, in the way one thinks, feels and acts. One of the most important contributions resides in what and how we learn through the improvement of educational processes, both in formal and informal settings. Our International Conference seeks to provide some answers and explore the processes, actions, challenges and outcomes of learning, teaching and human development. Our goal is to offer a worldwide connection between teachers, students, researchers and lecturers, from a wide range of academic fields, interested in exploring and giving their contribution in educational issues. We take pride in having been able to connect and bring together academics, scholars, practitioners and others interested in a field that is fertile in new perspectives, ideas and knowledge. We counted on an extensive variety of contributors and presenters, which can supplement our view of the human essence and behavior, showing the impact of their different personal, academic and cultural experiences. This is, certainly, one of the reasons we have many nationalities and cultures represented, inspiring multi-disciplinary collaborative links, fomenting intellectual encounter and development. END 2015 received 528 submissions, from 63 different countries, reviewed by a double-blind process. Submissions were prepared to take form as Oral Presentations, Posters, Virtual Presentations and Workshops. It was accepted for presentation in the conference, 176 submissions (33% acceptance rate). The conference also includes a keynote presentation from an internationally distinguished researcher, Professor Dr. Martin Braund, Adjunct Professor at Cape Peninsula University of Technology in Cape Town, South Africa and Honorary Fellow in the Department of Education at the University of York, UK, to whom we express our most gratitude. This volume is composed by the proceedings of the International Conference on Education and New Developments (END 2015), organized by the World Institute for Advanced Research and Science (W.I.A.R.S.) and had the help of our respected media partners that we reference in the dedicated page. New methods of English second language instruction are being introduced in China through cooperative efforts between Chinese and overseas universities. One of these programs is the Canada-China Language Centre, a joint effort of St. Mary's University (Nova Scotia, Canada) and China's Beijing Normal University (BNU). It provides testing, English and French language training, and cross-cultural preparation for Chinese professionals who will receive technical training and academic study in Canada, and works to improve the quality of English language teaching at BNU. To facilitate introduction of communicative teaching methodology, Canadian and Chinese teachers are paired for planning, mutual observation, team teaching, and discussion of teaching strategies. The program began in 1983, and early surveys revealed skepticism about the acceptance and usefulness of the communicative methodology in Chinese classrooms. As a result, a new, comprehensive curriculum was developed to accommodate Chinese teaching methods. Problem-based communicative activities are followed by language-focused consolidation activities. The technique of creative automatization incorporates traditional language teaching techniques into an interactive, communicative classroom. The curriculum themes are based on Canadian culture. Pair and group work, semantic mapping, and classroom discussion, techniques unfamiliar to most Chinese teachers, are used. A 33-item bibliography is included. (MSE)
