Abstract

We present a mutual capacitance touch panel with a novel electrode pattern and recognition algorithms for the simultaneous detection of conductive and non-conductive objects. Abstract

The article describes the technologies behind an in-cell optical touch-panel liquid crystal display with novel input functions. By enhancing both the optical and electrical signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), a touch-panel operation can be attained with a low-power consumption suitable for integration into mobile products. The high SNR allows a range of novel input functions making the in-cell optical touch panel a potential platform for the next-generation of user interface.
