Background: Uroflowmetry is a non-invasive study used in the diagnosis and monitoring of treatment response for lower urinary tract disorders. For optimal clinical utility, uroflow studies rely on careful clinical interpretation by a trained provider, but currently there is a lack of accepted standardized normal values for the measured uroflow parameters in children. The International Children's Continence Society proposed standardizing the terminology for uroflow curve shapes. However, the patterning of curves is largely at the physician's subjective discretion., Objectives: The aims of this study were to understand inter-rater reliability in interpreting uroflow curves and to define characteristics of uroflow curves that could be used to provide definitive criteria for uroflowmetry parameters., Methods: All members of the SPU Voiding dysfunction Task Force were invited to contribute deidentified uroflows to a centralized HIPAA complaint receiving database. All studies were then distributed to all raters for review. Each observer's findings were recorded according to ICCS criteria (ICCS), additional readings were done using a previously reported system which defined curves as smooth or fractionated (SF) and whether the shape resembled a bell, tower, or plateau (BTP). Flow indexes (Qact/Qest) (FI) for Qmax and Qavg were generated using formulas previously reported for children 4-12 and for patients≥12 years., Results: A total of 119 uroflow studies were read by 7 raters and curves were contributed from 5 sites. Kappa scores for the 5 readers from different institutions were 0.34 and 0.28 for the ICCS and BTP methods, respectively (both considered fair agreement). Kappa for smooth and fractionated curves was 0.70 (for each; considered substantial agreement), which were the two highest agreement scores obtained throughout the study. Discriminant analysis (DA) revealed that the FI Qmax was the dominant vector, and that the ICCS uroflow parameters have a total of 42.8% prediction rate in the training sample. Using DA of a smooth/fractionated system, the total prediction rates were 72% and 65.5% for smooth and fractionated, respectively., Discussion: Given the poor inter-rater agreement for analyzing uroflow curve pattern based on ICCS criteria in this study and others, one may find it reasonable to consider alternative approaches to describing and characterizing uroflow curves. Purpose: We evaluated the accuracy and reliability of a new smartphone-based acoustic voided volume (VV) measurement application compared to VV estimation based on the measurement of urine volume in a bladder by ultrasound bladder scan., Patients and Methods: A total of 53 subjects from 01/2021 to 09/2021 were prospectively enrolled. Bladder scan-based VV estimation is based on the difference in the volume of urine in a bladder measured before urination and volume measured after urination. The acoustic VV measurement is based on smartphone-based acoustic VV measurement mobile application. VV estimates for the same void were compared between two techniques. Urinary measures were obtained from 49 male subjects resulting in a total of 245 measurements for analysis. VV measures were compared using Pearson's correlation coefficient (PCC), evaluation of observed versus predicted VV measures using linear regression fit indices, and Bland-Altman method., Results: VV between the two techniques revealed strong correlation (PCC 0.811, p < 0.001). Means of the number of measurements per patient and inpatient days for measurements analyzed are 5 and 2.7, respectively. In 245 measurements, VV measured by bladder scan is 238.69 ± 122.32 mL, VV measured by mobile application is 254.69 ± 119.28 mL, and their difference of two measurements is 16 ± 74.29 mL., Conclusion: Through the comparison with VV estimated by ultrasound bladder scan, which is a technology to measure the urine volume in a bladder, it was confirmed that the smartphone-based acoustic VV measurement application proudP ® is accurate., (© 2022. Introduction and Hypothesis: Dysfunctional voiding (DV) is not uncommon in women and is typically challenging to treat. This study retrospectively investigated the long-term treatment outcomes of DV women with different videourodynamics (VUDS) characteristics., Methods: Data of women with VUDS-proven DV (n = 302) were retrospectively analyzed. All patients at first received biofeedback pelvic floor muscle training and medications; urethral sphincter botulinum toxin A injection was administered after treatment failure. Long-term follow-up outcomes were graded by global response assessment (GRA) and objective responses of decrease of detrusor pressure (Pdet), increase in maximum flow rate (Qmax) and voiding efficiency (VE). The treatment outcomes were investigated among different VUDS subgroups., Results: Of 302 women, 165 (54.6%) had mid-urethral DV, 117 (38.7%) had distal urethral DV, and 20 (6.6%) had both bladder neck dysfunction (BND) and mid-urethral DV. A total of 170 (56.3%) patients were available for follow-up VUDS after treatment. Pdet was decreased in all three subgroups, but increase in Qmax and VE was only noted in the BND plus DV subgroup. Overall, 120 (70.6%) patients showed improvement (GRA ≥ 1), including 14 with BND plus DV (93.3%), 50 with mid-urethral DV (60.8%) and 56 with distal urethral DV (77.8%) (p = 0.044). All three subgroups showed significant reduction in bladder outlet obstruction index after treatment, with BND plus DV subgroup showing the greatest reduction., Conclusions: Women with DV have different VUDS characteristics resulting from different pathophysiological mechanisms and treatment results. Purpose: To establish the correlation between flow rate curve shape and video-urodynamic findings in women with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS)., Methods: A retrospective review of consecutive women with LUTS who performed a free flow study immediately before undergoing video-urodynamic investigations over a 28-month period. Flow rate curve shape and video-urodynamic parameters were analysed. Free flow curves were defined into five categories: bell-shaped, prolonged, fluctuating, intermittent or plateau. Women who voided less than 150 ml on the free flow study were excluded from the analysis., Results: A total of 250 women with LUTS, with a mean age 48 years (range 18-83), were included. Bell-shaped tracings excluded obstruction in 89%. Prolonged flow rate curves diagnosed obstruction in 62% and detrusor underactivity in 8%. Fluctuating and intermittent flow rate curves were associated with urodynamic obstruction in 37 and 39%, respectively, and detrusor underactivity in 25 and 29%, respectively. A plateau flow rate curve was indicative of urodynamic obstruction in all three cases observed., Conclusion: Flow rate curve patterns can be suggestive of urodynamic diagnoses. Women without a prolonged void and bell-shaped traces had normal voiding urodynamics in 76% of cases, and the majority could be managed without invasive investigations. Patients with fluctuating and intermittent flow rate curves demonstrate a spectrum of urodynamic diagnoses with a third of cases having obstruction and a third of cases having detrusor underactivity. Plateau flow rate curve patterns are associated with urethral obstruction.

Objective: To investigate bladder neck dysfunction (BND) in women with voiding dysfunction by video-urodynamic study (VUDS) and to examine the therapeutic results of different BND subtypes., Materials and Methods: We retrospectively reviewed consecutive women who had undergone VUDS for investigation of voiding dysfunction at our institution. The diagnosis of BND was made based on a nonfunneling bladder neck with or without high voiding detrusor pressure. Patients diagnosed as BND were retrieved, and the urodynamic parameters were compared with patients with dysfunctional voiding (DV) and other bladder outlet obstructions (BOO)., Results: Among 810 women with bladder outlet dysfunction, BND was noted in 100 (12.3%), poor pelvic floor relaxation in 336 (41.5%), DV in 325 (40.1%), cystocele in 19 (2%), and urethral stricture in 30 (4%). Compared with the normal tracing group, BND patients had a significantly smaller volume of bladder filling sensation (included first sensation of filling, full sensation and cystometric bladder capaicity) and a greater BOO index (BOOI) (all P < .05). Detrusor overactivity was noted in 46 (46%) BND patients. These urodynamic parameters in BND were not significantly different from patients with DV or other BOO. High-pressure BND had a greater BOOI, but low-pressure BND had a lower voiding efficiency. Both alpha-blocker therapy and transurethral incision of the bladder neck improved uroflow parameters in BND patients., Conclusions: BND includes 12.3% of women with bladder outlet dysfunction. High-pressure BND can cause anatomical BOO, whereas low-pressure BND is likely to affect micturition through inhibiting detrusor contractility. Voiding abnormalities are common among the sickle cell disease (SCD) population, among which overactive bladder (OAB) syndrome is observed at rates as high as 39%. Although detrusor overactivity is the most common cause of OAB, its molecular pathophysiology is not well elucidated. The nitric oxide (NO) signaling pathway has been implicated in the regulation of lower genitourinary tract function. In the present study, we evaluated the role of the NO signaling pathway in voiding function of transgenic SCD mice compared with combined endothelial and neuronal NO synthase gene-deficient mice, both serving as models of NO deficiency. Mice underwent void spot assay and cystometry, and bladder and urethral specimens were studied using in vitro tissue myography. Both mouse models exhibited increased void volumes; increased nonvoiding and voiding contraction frequencies; decreased bladder compliance; increased detrusor smooth muscle contraction responses to electrical field stimulation, KCl, and carbachol; and increased urethral smooth muscle relaxation responses to sodium nitroprusside compared with WT mice. In conclusion, our comprehensive behavioral and functional study of the SCD mouse lower genitourinary tract, in correlation with that of the NO-deficient mouse, reveals NO effector actions in voiding function and suggests that NO signaling derangements are associated with an OAB phenotype. These findings may allow further study of molecular targets for the characterization and evaluation of OAB.

Introduction and Hypothesis: To compare the force of the stream (FOS) voiding trial with the standard voiding trial (SVT) after outpatient midurethral sling (MUS) whether or not colporrhaphy was performed., Methods: This is a randomized controlled non-inferiority trial of patients scheduled for MUS or colporrhaphy. Sample size of 102 patients was calculated for 80% power. Patients were randomized to FOS or SVT. Primary outcome was the number of unexpected postoperative visits (UPOVs) for voiding dysfunction (VD) or urinary tract infection (UTI). Voiding dysfunction was defined as urinary retention or post-void residual (PVR) > 200 cc. Subjects rated FOS using a visual analog scale (VAS). Criterion for non-inferiority was an upper limit of < 10% for the 95% CI. Analyses were performed using SAS version 9.4 (SAS Institute. Cary, NC)., Results: One hundred two subjects were included (49 FOS, 53 SVT). Immediate postoperative catheterization for FOS and SVT was 8.2% (n = 4) and 9.4% (n = 5), respectively. Recovery time was significantly less for FOS versus SVT (p = 0.0002). Total UPOVs were five (10.2%) and two (3.8%) for FOS and SVT, respectively. Two FOS subjects who had MUS + colporrhaphy passed their VT and had subsequent UPOVs for VD. No evidence of non-inferiority was noted when comparing FOS to SVT for total UPOVs: CI: 6.0% (-5.2, 17.2) for postoperative VD [CI: 6.1% (-4.0, 16.2)] or UTIs [CI: 0.3% (-9.4, 10.1)]., Conclusions: No evidence of non-inferiority was noted comparing FOS with SVT for unexpected postoperative visits for voiding dysfunction or UTI. This study shows the need for larger studies to assess the use of the FOS method in patients undergoing surgery for prolapse with or without MUS.

Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the changes in uroflowmetric values of male patients following elective inguinal hernia repair., Methods: The study group comprised patients treated with open or laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair. Patients who underwent surgery due to various diseases such as cataract, multinodular goiter, choledocholithiasis, thyroid and breast cancer, hydrocele, or spermatocele were recruited to the control group. Perioperative characteristics, including pain assessed using the visual analog scale (VAS), uroflowmetric values, and post-void residual urine volumes (PVR), were recorded preoperatively and on Postoperative Days (POD) 1 and 30. Uroflowmetry, VAS, and PVR values were also recorded for the control group on Study Days 1, 3, and 30., Results: There were 103 subjects in this study (52 treated with elective inguinal hernia repair in the study group, 51 in the control group). Preoperative VAS, maximum and average flow rate, and PVR were similar in the 2 groups (P > .05 for all), whereas comparisons of these 3 factors on POD 1 revealed significant differences (P < .001 for all). Linear regression analysis demonstrated that preoperative maximum and POD 1 VAS values of patients who underwent elective inguinal hernia repair could significantly predict acute urinary retention or voiding dysfunction (P = .001 for all)., Conclusion: Postoperative pain affect parameters and cause urinary retention after open or laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair., (© 2018 John Wiley & Sons Australia, Ltd.)

Background: Improvement of bladder emptying by modulating afferent nerve activity is an attractive therapeutic strategy for detrusor underactivity. Transient receptor potential vanilloid 4 (TRPV4) is a sensory ion channel in urothelial cells that contribute to the detection of bladder filling., Objective: To investigate the potential benefit of intravesical TRPV4 agonists in a pelvic nerve injury rat model for detrusor underactivity., Design, Setting, and Participants: Female wild-type and Trpv4 knockout rats underwent sham surgery or bilateral pelvic nerve injury (bPNI). Four weeks later, rats underwent cystometry with infusion of the TRPV4 agonist GSK1016790A. Bladders were harvested for in vitro pharmacological studies, quantitative reverse polymerase chain reaction and immunohistochemistry., Outcome Measurements and Statistical Analysis: Data are expressed as median ± interquartile range. Statistical comparisons were made using the Mann-Witney U test and Wilcoxon signed rank test as appropriate., Results and Limitations: Rats with bPNI showed a phenotype characteristic of detrusor underactivity with lower-amplitude voiding contractions, decreased voiding frequency, and increased postvoid residual. Intravesical application of GSK1016790A increased voiding frequency and reduced postvoid residual in wild-type, but not Trpv4 -/- , rats. In isolated bladder strips, GSK1016790A did not induce relevant contractions, indicating that the observed improvements in bladder function are the result of increased afferent signalling through TRPV4 activation, rather than a local effect on the detrusor. The altered urinary phenotype of Trpv4 -/- mice was not apparent in the Trpv4 -/- rat model, suggesting species-related functional variations. Our results are limited to the preclinical setting in rodents., Conclusions: Intravesical activation of TRPV4 improves bladder dysfunction after bPNI by increasing afferent signalling., Patient Summary: We demonstrate that the sensory protein transient receptor potential vanilloid 4 (TRPV4) can be targeted to improve bladder function in animals that have iatrogenic injury to the nerves innervating the bladder. Aims: Urinary retention in women is poorly understood, compared to the equivalent condition in men, and was the subject of a dedicated session organized at the International Consultation on Incontinence Research Society (ICI-RS) in Bristol, United Kingdom, 2017., Methods: The current understanding of the pathophysiological correlates of idiopathic voiding dysfunction in women, the role of urodynamics, neurophysiology, and non-invasive tests in characterizing functional bladder outlet obstruction due to a non-relaxing urethral sphincter, and poorly defined diagnosis of detrusor underactivity were reviewed., Results: Putative factors underlying the pathogenesis of urinary retention following urinary tract infections were discussed. Further research is required to explore the association between bladder wall inflammation and alterations in detrusor contractile functions. The complex interrelationship between urinary retention and psychological co-morbidities and sexual trauma were explored, and the overlap between these and psychological co-morbidities and functional neurological problems with functional urological problems were recognized. Understanding the mechanism of action of sacral neuromodulation, often a successful treatment for urinary retention, would provide insight into the underlying factors that may be responsible for urinary retention. Specifically, there is a need to understand the role of the endogenous enkephalinergic system in the pathogenesis of urinary retention and to identify predictors of successful treatment with sacral neuromodulation. Based on current understanding and potential directions of research in the future, an algorithm for the evaluation of women with voiding dysfunction was proposed., Conclusions: In the future, recommendations for research should lead to a better understanding of urinary retention in women and its treatment., (© 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.)

Aims: Population ageing has as consequence an increasing number of women older than 80 years with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). Despite old age, urodynamic study is often performed to diagnose the cause of LUTS. Our purpose is to discuss the contribution of urodynamics to manage that population., Methods: Urodynamic studies of 169 consecutive women older than 80 years, respectively 124 non-neurological (non-N) and 45 neurological (N), were retrospectively analysed., Results: Number of co-morbidities was lower in non-N (2.5 vs. 3.1) with predominance of cardiovascular and endocrinology while musculo-skeletal, cognitive and previous pelvic surgery predominated in N. Among main complaint, incomplete retention or dysuria was more frequent in N while incontinence and frequency were predominant in non-N. More frequent urodynamic diagnosis (UD) was "normal" i.e. non contributive (25.0%) and intrinsic sphincter deficiency (ISD=21.7%) in non-N, detrusor overactivity (DO=42.2%) and detrusor underactivity (DU=38.8%) in N. In non-N, there were 94 treatment proposals based on the complaint when UD was "normal" and on UD for DO, DU and ISD. In N, treatment proposals were mainly prompted voiding or self-catheterization based on DU diagnosis., Conclusion: Usefulness of urodynamics to manage LUT dysfunction in women older than 80 y is greatly dependent on their neurological status. In non-neurological women this is non debatable but proposed treatment needs to take into account existing co-morbidities. Aims: To examine the outcomes of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) and urodynamic test results after cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) shunt surgery in idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH)., Methods: Records of 48 patients (33 men; 15 women), who met the definite iNPH criteria and underwent CSF shunt surgery, were retrospectively analyzed. LUTS and their impact on quality of life (QOL) were evaluated using an all-or-none questionnaire targeting four symptoms, the Overactive Bladder Symptoms Score (OABSS), and the QOL index. Urodynamic investigations included filling cystometry and pressure-flow studies performed before and after surgery., Results: Forty-seven (98%) patients complained of LUTS, 41 (87%) patients of whom experienced LUTS improvement after surgery. The OABSS and QOL index, which before surgery were 6.8 ± 0.7 and 4.1 ± 0.4, respectively, significantly decreased to 4.6 ± 0.6 and 3.2 ± 0.3, respectively, after surgery. The maximum cystometric capacity (174.9 ± 13.3 mL to 222.4 ± 14.7 mL) and bladder compliance (35.8 ± 4.4 ml/cmH 2 O to 52.1 ± 5.4 ml/cmH 2 O) significantly increased after surgery. Detrusor overactivity, which was observed in 37 (77%) patients preoperatively, became undetectable in 7 patients postoperatively. Voiding dysfunction (defined as maximum flow rate <10 mL/s or post-void residual >100 mL) was observed in 29 (60%) patients, 22 (75%) of whom had detrusor underactivity before surgery. None of the voiding urodynamic parameters significantly improved postoperatively., Conclusions: iNPH is often associated with LUTS and both storage and voiding dysfunctions. Aims: Women with functional voiding dysfunction often experience a "catching" sensation when catheterising and are in general investigated with both urethral pressure profilometry (UPP) and sphincter electromyography (EMG). It is unknown whether the pattern of the UPP trace correlates with this sensation of "catching" or with sphincter EMG findings., Methods: We reviewed the database of all women with voiding dysfunction who had undergone both sphincter EMG and UPP to assess for any relationship between pattern of UPP trace and "catching" on catheterization and/or sphincter EMG findings. UPP traces were classified as smooth or pulsatile and the EMG was classified as normal or abnormal. Statistical analysis was by Chi squared test for pulsatile UPP trace as a predictor of abnormal EMG. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), and negative predictive value (NPV) of a pulsatile UPP trace for predicting abnormal EMG were also determined. These patients were asked to complete a telephone interview assessing discomfort on catheterization, particularly on catheter removal ("catching")., Results: A total of 107 women of mean age 35.8 years underwent both sphincter EMG and UPP between 2011 and 2015. There was no significant association between "catching" on catheterization and pattern of UPP. There was a significant association between the presence of a pulsatile UPP and the finding of an abnormal EMG (P < 0.0001) The PPV of pulsatile UPP for abnormal EMG was 0.82 and the NPV of pulsatile UPP for abnormal EMG was 0.74., Conclusions: A pulsatile UPP trace is a sensitive predictor for abnormal EMG in patients with voiding dysfunction. Aims: Lumbar to sacral rerouting surgery can potentially allow voiding via a skin-central nervous system-bladder reflex pathway. Here, we assessed if this surgery was effective in treating neurogenic bladder dysfunction/sphincter in felines., Methods: Eight cats underwent spinal cord transection (SCT) at thoracic level 10/11. Unilateral L7 to S1 ventral root anastomosis was performed 1 month later in six cats. Two cats served as transection-only controls. Electrical and manual stimulation of L6-S1 dermatomes, and urodynamics were performed at 3, 5, 7, and 9/10 months post transection. At 9/10 months, cats were also evaluated by direct electrophysiological testing of anastomosed roots with urodynamics, then tissue collection and examination of the root anastomosis site and lumbosacral cord ventral horns for cells retrogradely labeled from tracer dye injected 2 weeks earlier into the bladder wall., Results: At 9/10 months, four of six rerouted cats exhibited increased detrusor pressure provoked by cutaneous stimulation, one cat bilaterally. Two cats presented with a voiding stream after ipsilateral cutaneous stimulation at 7 and 9 months. All six rerouted animals showed regrowth of axons from the L7 ventral horn to the bladder, although some aberrant axonal regrowth was also observed., Conclusion: L7 to S1 ventral root rerouting below the level of SCT showed successful axonal regrowth to the bladder from the L7 spinal cord segment in all rerouted animals, and induced increased detrusor pressure response to cutaneous stimulation in a subset. Objective: To develop and validate a nomogram for assessing bladder outlet obstruction (BOO) in women derived from concurrent P det.Qmax and Q max based on radiographic evidence of increased urethral resistance., Patients and Methods: Retrospective analysis of prospectively acquired video-urodynamics and clinical data of 185 women (development cohort) was performed. The P det.Qmax were plotted against Q max and cluster analysis was performed to determine an axis that best divided the definitively obstructed and unobstructed. Using data from a further 350 women (validation cohort), the sensitivity and specificity of the derived criterion was calculated. Finally, the data from both groups was pooled together and using binary logistic regression analysis, a nomogram was produced., Results: Of the 535 patients in the two cohorts, (122 [22.8%]) demonstrated radiographic evidence of BOO. Cluster analysis identified the axis that best separates the radiographically obstructed and unobstructed as P det.Qmax  = 2*Q max . Using the data from the validation cohort, the sensitivity and specificity for this was calculated as 0.94 and 0.93, respectively. A nomogram, representing the probability of BOO for concurrent P det.Qmax and Q max measurements was derived by pooling data from both cohorts. Alternatively, a female BOO index (BOOIf) may be calculated mathematically using the formula BOOIf = P det.Qmax  - 2.2*Q max, that is, BOOIf < 0, <10% probability of obstruction, BOOIf > 5 likely obstructed (50%) and If BOOIf > 18, obstruction almost certain (>90%)., Conclusion: A female BOO nomogram (the SG nomogram) with high sensitivity and specificity is proposed. Aims: Voiding dysfunction due to dysfunctional voiding (DV) and poor relaxation of the external sphincter (PRES) are commonly found among adult women with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) during videourodynamic study (VUDS). This study analyzed the VUDS characteristics of DV and PRES in female voiding dysfunction., Methods: This retrospective study involved 1914 women aged >18 years with refractory LUTS. The medical records and the VUDS parameters were reviewed. Patients diagnosed with DV and PRES participated in the study. The VUDS characteristics and urethral sphincter activities were compared with those of urodynamically normal women., Results: Of the 1914 women, 325 (17.0%) and 336 (17.6%) were diagnosed with DV and PRES, respectively. Detrusor overactivity (DO) occurred in 60% of the women with DV and in 5.7% of the women with PRES. Patients with DV had significantly increased bladder sensation, lower cystometric bladder capacity (CBC), lower bladder compliance, higher voiding detrusor pressure, smaller voided volume (VV), larger post-void residual volume (PVR), lower voiding efficiency (VE), and higher bladder outlet obstruction index (BOOI) than the women with PRES and the control individuals. Patients with PRES had significantly increased bladder sensation, lower CBC, lower maximum flow rate, smaller VV, larger PVR, and lower VE than the control individuals., Conclusions: DV and PRES were highly prevalent among the adult women with voiding dysfunction. Patients with DV had VUDS characteristics of BOO and urodynamic DO. Introduction: Detrusor underactivity (DU) is currently a topic that receives major attention within functional urology. Urologists are often confronted with men who present with voiding dysfunction without bladder outlet obstruction (BOO) or after desobstructive or neuromodulation treatment. Their impaired bladder emptying is suspected to be related to failure of detrusor contractile function. Earlier research indicated that patients with non-obstructive urinary retention (NOR), for example, detrusor underactivity (DU), have a lower success rate after sacral neuromodulation (SNM) compared to patients treated with SNM for storage dysfunction. However, predicting factors for treatment success in the NOR group have not yet been defined., Methods and Evidence: The aim of this study was to assess whether the use of the new BOO-contractility (Maastricht-Hannover) nomogram can identify and predict SNM non-responders. Our results in 18 men showed that only 20% of patients below the 10th percentile, but 86% of men between the 10 and 25th percentiles of the nomogram can be treated successfully with SNM. All successfully treated patients voided without needing self- catheterisation., Conclusions: This pilot study showed for the first time that SNM treatment response in male patients with impaired bladder emptying can be predicted with the BOO-contractility (Maastricht-Hannover) nomogram. Background: Feminizing genitoplasty techniques have diversified to encompass the spectrum of atypical genitalia in 46,XX congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) patients. However, long-term outcomes evaluating postoperative continence following complex vaginoplasty remain scarce., Objective: The aim was to review our surgical experience and assess postoperative urinary continence outcomes in CAH patients following complex, primary vaginoplasty., Study Design: We retrospectively reviewed CAH patients who underwent complex, primary vaginoplasty at a single center by a single surgeon from 1996 to 2013. We collected data on clinical characteristics, surgical techniques and postoperative urinary continence outcomes. In patients who had reached toilet-training age, continence outcomes were reviewed., Results: Twenty-four patients met the inclusion criteria. The median age at the time of surgery was 8 months (interquartile range [IQR] 1 year-6 months). The median length of follow up was 6 years (IQR 10 years-3 years). These patients required complex reconstruction because of more extensive virilization: total urogenital mobilization (TUM, 10), pull-through vaginoplasty (9), partial urogenital mobilization (3), or pull-through vaginoplasty with partial urogenital mobilization (2). After surgery, 15 out of 24 (62.5%) reported age appropriate toilet-training without further complaints. Seven (29.2%) patients reported daytime incontinence or enuresis that resolved with conservative management. Two patients reported day and night incontinence requiring urethral bulking procedures following TUM., Discussion: Twenty-two (91.7%) of our patients achieved continence without further surgical intervention. Of these patients, the TUM patients had serious incontinence issues. Our study represents a review of clinically significant cases from the female CAH population. The limitations of our study include a relatively small sample size and retrospective design., Conclusion: Females with CAH and urogenital virilization most often achieved age appropriate toilet-training following vaginoplasty. Daytime incontinence and enuresis resolved without operative management in the vast majority of cases. Background: Children with urinary incontinence (UI) have associated functional constipation (FC) and fecal incontinence (FI). The physiology between lower urinary tract (LUT) and anorectum in children has not been elucidated., Aims: Observe the effect of rectal distention (RD) on LUT function, and bladder filling and voiding on anorectal function., Methods: Children with voiding dysfunction referred to Boston Children's Hospital were prospectively enrolled in combined urodynamic (UDS) and anorectal manometry (ARM). Anorectal and urodynamic parameters were simultaneously measured. Patients underwent two micturition cycles, first with rectal balloon deflated and second with it inflated (RD). Lower urinary tract and anorectal parameters were compared between cycles., Key Results: Ten children (seven UI, four recurrent UTIs, nine FC ± FI) were enrolled. Postvoid residual (PVR) increased (p = 0.02) with RD. No differences were observed in percent of bladder filling to expected bladder capacity, sensation, and bladder compliance with and without RD. Bladder and abdominal pressures increased at voiding with RD (p < 0.05). Intra-anal pressures decreased at voiding (p < 0.05), at 25% (p = 0.03) and 50% (p = 0.06) of total volume of bladder filling., Conclusions & Inferences: The PVR volume increased with RD. Stool in the rectum does not alter filling cystometric capacity but decreases the bladder's ability to empty predisposing patients with fecal retention to UI and UTIs. Bladder and abdominal pressures increased during voiding, demonstrating a physiological correlate of voiding dysfunction. Intra-anal pressures decreased during bladder filling and voiding. Aim: To investigate the efficacy and urodynamic effects of baclofen in women with functional bladder outlet obstruction., Methods: Between January 2011 and December 2012, women who underwent baclofen treatment for functional bladder outlet obstruction, defined as <15 mL/s maximum flow rate and >20 cmH2 O detrusor pressure at maximum flow rate, but without significant anatomic causes, were retrospectively reviewed. Urodynamic variables at baseline and after 12 weeks of treatment were compared., Results: Twenty women with functional bladder outlet obstruction underwent 12 weeks of baclofen treatment (oral baclofen 5 mg, three times daily). All patients reported improvement in voiding dysfunction symptoms after treatment, and no significant adverse effects were found on review of medical records. All patients underwent urodynamic studies after 12 weeks' treatment. Voided volume, voiding efficiency and maximum flow rate at voiding cystometry were significantly improved (mean, 273 vs. 368 mL, P = 0.002; 62.8% vs. 73.6%, P <0.001, and 10.3 vs. 11.6 mL/s, P = 0.046; respectively). Moreover, baclofen did not affect continence function, as indicated by non-significant changes in the parameters of urethral pressure profiles., Conclusions: Oral baclofen can improve symptoms of voiding dysfunction, voided volume, voiding efficiency and maximum flow rate in women with functional bladder outlet obstruction. None of the patients experienced intolerable side-effects. Aims: To compare urodynamic parameters in two groups of older women who have overactive bladder (OAB) symptoms: those with normal and those with elevated post-void residual (PVR)., Methods: Secondary data analyses were conducted on medical record data from 203 women who were 65 years or older and who completed urodynamic testing. Of these, 151 (74%) medical records met the study criteria. A PVR of 100 ml or greater during the pressure-flow study was considered elevated for this study. Maximal flow rate (Qmax ) and detrusor pressure at Qmax , bladder capacity, voiding volume, and voiding pattern were compared between these two groups., Results: The mean Qmax and detrusor pressure at Qmax were 19.63 ml/sec (SD = 8.74) and 16.15 cmH2 O (SD = 11.19) for the overall sample, respectively. The elevated PVR group (n = 54) had significantly higher detrusor pressure at Qmax and bladder capacity than the normal PVR group (n = 97) (P < 0.05, P < 0.01, respectively). An interrupted voiding pattern accounted for 47.4% of the normal PVR group and 77.4% of the elevated PVR group, respectively (P < 0.01)., Conclusions: Older women with an elevated PVR required on average a higher detrusor pressure at Qmax and greater bladder capacity than women with a normal PVR. Although an interrupted voiding pattern was more prevalent in the elevated PVR group, many women in the normal PVR group also had an interrupted voiding pattern. Objective: It has been hypothesized that women with significant pelvic organ prolapse (POP), particularly of the anterior vaginal wall, may have voiding dysfunction (VD). Rarely, different compartments of the vagina have been examined closely for VD. This study attempts to further elucidate the correlation between POP and VD by using the standardized Pelvic Organ Prolapse Quantification (POP-Q) staging system., Study Design: The clinical records of 66 women who underwent cystocele (≥POP-Q stage III) repair with concomitant midurethral sling were reviewed. Urodynamic study and POP-Q examination were performed preoperatively. The subjects were divided into two groups according to the presence of VD, which was defined as the presence of at least one of the following criteria: maximal flow rate below 15mL/s or postvoid residual urine volume (PVR) above 50mL on preoperative uroflowmetry. Age, parity, uroflowmetry and urodynamic parameters were compared between the two groups., Results: Of 66 women, 36 had VD preoperatively. In the VD group, failure in the postoperative voiding trial was more frequent (p=0.040), with lower maximal flow rate (p=0.007) and higher PVR (p=0.034). POP-Q stage was significantly higher (p=0.018), and points Aa and Ba were significantly longer (p=0.005 and p=0.006, respectively) in the VD group. POP-Q stage with points Aa and Ba were significantly correlated with the presence of preoperative VD, and moderately correlated with PVR., Conclusion: The prevalence of VD in patients with cystocele is high (55%). Introduction: Affectation of the bladder after open prostatectomy is demonstrated. Decrease in bladder capacity and bladder compliance, detrusor hyper-or hypo-activity and voiding dysfunction are observed. We propose to investigate the effects of robotic surgery on bladder and sphincter function through the comparative study of preoperative and postoperative urodynamic values 3 months after prostatectomy., Material and Methods: Prospective study of 32 consecutive patients undergoing robotic prostatectomy. They all underwent urodynamic study one month before the intervention and 3 months after the radical prostatectomy., Results: Twenty five percent of patients undergoing robotic prostatectomy showed detrusor hyperactivity accompanied by a decrease in bladder compliance of 30.2 to 21.8 ml/cmH2O. Urethral profile showed diminished functional length of 67 to 44 mm and decreased maximum urethral pressure of 48.5 to 29.3 cmH2O. After robotic prostatectomy 21.8% of patients had detrusor hypoactivity, obstruction decreased between 28.1% to 12.5%., Conclusions: Decreased bladder compliance, detrusor hypo- or hyperactivity and obstruction improvement observed in the study of the flow pressure have been associated with sphincter involvement. Purpose: This study established the prognostic significance of the uroflowmetry flow curve shape in the presence of voiding dysfunction following transvaginal mesh surgery. Methods: This is a retrospective study of 439 symptomatic cystocele patients who underwent anterior wall repair with transvaginal mesh surgery. Uroflowmetry and postvoid residual were used to evaluate voiding function both preoperatively and 12 months postoperatively. The patients were divided into two groups: those with and without postoperative voiding dysfunction, and the predictors of postoperative voiding dysfunction were analyzed. The shape of the urine flow curve was analyzed for its influence on the presence of postoperative voiding dysfunction. Results: Thirty‐five participants were in the voiding dysfunction group, while 404 were in the nonvoiding dysfunction group. Multivariate analysis was conducted by adding an interrupted‐shaped curve to age, Qmax, and postvoid residual, which showed significant differences in univariate analysis, found that age 68 years or older (odds ratio [OR]: 7.68, 95%CI 1.02–58, p = 0.048), postvoid residual ≥110 mL (OR: 2.8, 95%CI 1.25–6.29, p = 0.013) and interrupted‐shaped curve (OR: 2.47, 95%CI 1.07–5.69, p = 0.034) were discovered to be independent risk factors for the presence of voiding dysfunction after transvaginal mesh surgery. Conclusions: Following transvaginal mesh surgery for cystocele, three variables were found to be predictive of voiding dysfunction: the old age, excessive postvoid residual, and an interrupted‐shaped flow curve. Objective: To demonstrate the outcome of transvaginal urethrolysis as a treatment option for women with recurrent cystitis, which could be caused from voiding problems. In the case of a failure of non-invasive treatment, the surgical procedure to decrease outlet resistance may have a role. Materials and Methods: Between January 2016 and December 2020, women with recurrent cystitis who underwent urethrolysis at Siriraj Hospital were retrospectively reviewed. Only women who were followed-up for more than 6 months were analyzed. Cure was defined by no clinical symptoms of cystitis, no pyuria on urine analysis, and/or negative urine culture during the follow-up period. Results: In total, 52 women underwent transvaginal urethrolysis. The overall cure rate was observed 53.9% (28 cases) at a median follow-up time of 11.9 (6--59) months. Eighteen of the 44 cases (40.9%) who underwent a video urodynamics study showed bladder outlet obstruction, defined as a Solomon--Greenwell bladder outlet obstruction index of more than 5. None of the characteristics or urodynamics parameters showed statistically significant differences between the cure and failure groups. Postoperative urinary incontinence was reported in 14 cases (26.9%) but showed no statistical difference between the cure and failure group (p = 0.748). Conclusion: Bladder outlet obstruction is a common cause of recurrent cystitis. Transvaginal urethrolysis may have a role as treatment for women with recurrent cystitis from voiding dysfunction who have failed non- and less-invasive treatments. Purpose of Review: Near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) is a non-invasive optical technique that uses near infrared light to detect the oxygenation status and hemodynamics of various organs. This article reviews the use of NIRS for the non-invasive assessment of lower urinary tract dysfunction (LUTD). Applications include assessment of bladder outlet obstruction, overactive and underactive bladder, neurogenic LUTD, pediatric LUTD, interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome, and pelvic floor dysfunction. In addition, the article describes how NIRS is elucidating more about the brain-bladder connection. Technological advancements enabling these applications are also discussed. Recent Findings: While evidence exists for the application of NIRS throughout a wide range of LUTD, most of these studies are limited by small sample sizes without matched controls. Investigators have experienced problems with reproducibility and motion artifacts contaminating the data. The literature is also becoming dated with use of older technology. Summary: NIRS holds potential for the non-invasive acquisition of urodynamic information over time scales and activities not previously accessible, but it is not yet ready for use in routine clinical practice. Advances in wearable technology will address some of the current limitations of NIRS, but to realize its full potential, larger scale validation studies will be required. Purpose of Review: The goal of this paper is to provide the reader with an understanding of the definition of bladder outlet obstruction (BOO) in females and guidance on the diagnostic work-up of this condition. Recent Findings: Our understanding of female BOO is continuing to evolve. Urodynamics and fluoroscopy can aid in the diagnosis of this condition. Several new definitions of BOO in females have been studied and provide more clarity for female BOO. However, no one definition has proved to be superior. Therefore, there is no replacement for looking at the entire clinical picture including patient history, examination and urodynamic data if available. Summary: Recent studies have further contributed to the body of literature on how to define bladder outlet obstruction in women, but no current consensus exists on the best way to define this condition. In a clinical context, there are increasing numbers of people with voiding dysfunction. To date, the methods of monitoring the voiding status of patients have included voiding diary records at home or urodynamic examinations at hospitals. The former is less objective and often contains missing data, while the latter lacks frequent measurements and is an invasive procedure. In light of these shortcomings, this study developed an innovative and contact-free technique that assists in clinical voiding dysfunction monitoring and diagnosis. Vibration signals during urination were first detected using an accelerometer and then converted into the mel-frequency cepstrum coefficient (MFCC). Lastly, an artificial intelligence model combined with uniform manifold approximation and projection (UMAP) dimensionality reduction was used to analyze and predict six common patterns of uroflowmetry to assist in diagnosing voiding dysfunction. The model was applied to the voiding database, which included data from 76 males aged 30 to 80 who required uroflowmetry for voiding symptoms. The resulting system accuracy (precision, recall, and f1-score) was around 98% for both the weighted average and macro average. This low-cost system is suitable for at-home urinary monitoring and facilitates the long-term uroflow monitoring of patients outside hospital checkups. From a disease treatment and monitoring perspective, this article also reviews other studies and applications of artificial intelligence-based methods for voiding dysfunction monitoring, thus providing helpful diagnostic information for physicians. Abstract Background Voiding dysfunction (VD) is a common neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction (NLUTD) in multiple sclerosis (MS) patients. Currently, the only effective management for VD and urinary retention in MS patients is catheterization, prompting us to look for novel therapeutic options beyond the bladder, such as the brain. Transcranial rotating permanent magnet stimulator (TRPMS) is a non-invasive, portable, multifocal neuromodulator that simultaneously modulates multiple cortical regions, enhancing or attenuating strengths of functional connections between these regions. The objective of this pilot clinical trial is to evaluate the feasibility of a TRPMS trial to address lower urinary tract symptoms in MS patients, through investigating the therapeutic effects of TRPMS in modulating brain regions during voiding initiation and mitigating VD in female MS individuals. Methods Ten adult female MS patients with VD (defined as having %post-void residual/bladder capacity (%PVR/BC) ≥ 40% or Liverpool nomogram percentile < 10%) will be recruited for this study. Concurrent urodynamic and functional MRI evaluation with a bladder filling/emptying task repeated three to four times will be performed at baseline and post-treatment. Predetermined regions of interest and their blood-oxygen-level-dependent (BOLD) activation at voiding initiation will be identified on each patient’s baseline anatomical and functional MRI scan, corresponding to the microstimulators placement on their individualized TRPMS treatment cap to either stimulate or inhibit these regions. Patients will receive 10 40-min treatment sessions. Non-instrumented uroflow and validated questionnaires will also be collected at baseline and post-treatment to evaluate clinical improvement. Discussion Despite the crucial role of the central nervous system in urinary control and its sensitivity to MS, there has been no treatment for urinary dysfunction targeting the brain centers that are involved in proper bladder function. This trial, to our knowledge, will be the first of its kind in humans to consider non-invasive and individualized cortical modulation for treating VD in MS patients. Results from this study will provide a better understanding of the brain control of neurogenic bladders and lay the foundation for a potential alternative therapy for VD in MS patients and other NLUTD in a larger neurogenic population in the future. Objectives: To report the British Association of Urological Surgeon's (BAUS) guidance on the assessment and management of female voiding dysfunction. Methods: A contemporary literature search was conducted to identify the evidence base. The BAUS Section of Female, Neurological and Urodynamic Urology (FNUU) Executive Committee formed a guideline development group to draw up and review the recommendations. Where there was no supporting evidence, expert opinion of the BAUS FNUU executive committee, FNUU Section and BAUS members, including urology consultants working in units throughout the UK, was used. Results: Female patients with voiding dysfunction can present with mixed urinary symptoms or urinary retention in both elective and emergency settings. Voiding dysfunction is caused by a wide range of conditions which can be categorized into bladder outlet obstruction (attributable to functional or anatomical causes) or detrusor underactivity. Guidance on the assessment, investigation and treatment of women with voiding dysfunction and urinary retention, in the absence of a known underlying neurological condition, is provided. Conclusion: Wa have produced a BAUS approved consensus on the management pathway for female voiding dysfunction with the aim to optimize assessment and treatment pathways for patients. Purpose: Neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction (NLUTD) is one of the most challenging problems in urology. In recent years, Onabotulinum toxin A (Botox) is considered a second-line treatment in these patients. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical effects of Abobotolinum toxin A (Dysport) into the bladder and urethra.Materials and Methods: We classified our patients with NLUTD into three groups: neurogenic detrusor overactivity (group 1), detrusor sphincter dyssynergia (group 2), and patients with both symptoms (group 3). The severity of the patient's symptoms was assessed using the Urinary Distress Inventory- Short form (UDI-6), urodynamic study, and post-void residual urine (PVR) at baseline. After injection of Dysport, the patients were evaluated by the change in UDI-6 score, PVR, and the patient's general satisfaction. In group 1, 500-900 U diluted Dysport injected intra-vesical. If associated with detrusor sphincter dyssynergia (group 3), 100 U diluted Dysport injected peri-urethral. In group 2, only 100 U diluted Dysport injected peri-urethral.Results: Data from 52 women with NLUTD were analyzed. The mean age was 51.3 ± 21.6 years. The prevalence of detrusor overactivity and the value of Q max was more in group 1. However, the amount of PVR was more in groups 2 and 3. The overall success rate was acceptable in all three groups. In addition, there were significant improvements in UDI-6 parameters.Conclusion: Peri-urethral injection of Abobotolinum toxin A is effective and safe. Background: Several studies have reported brain activations and functional connectivity (FC) during micturition using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and concurrent urodynamics (UDS) testing. However, due to the invasive nature of UDS procedure, non-invasive resting-state fMRI is being explored as a potential alternative. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the feasibility of utilizing resting states as a non-invasive alternative for investigating the bladder-related networks in the brain. Methods: We quantitatively compared FC in brain regions belonging to the bladder-related network during the following states: 'strong desire to void', 'voiding initiation (or attempt at voiding initiation)', and 'voiding (or continued attempt of voiding)' with FC during rest in nine multiple sclerosis women with voiding dysfunction using fMRI data acquired at 7 T and 3 T. Results: The inter-subject correlation analysis showed that voiding (or continued attempt of voiding) is achieved through similar network connections in all subjects. The task-based bladder-related network closely resembles the resting-state intrinsic network only during voiding (or continued attempt of voiding) process but not at other states. Conclusion: Resting states fMRI can be potentially utilized to accurately reflect the voiding (or continued attempt of voiding) network. Aim: The aim of this study is to describe the prevalence and type of female voiding dysfunction (FVD) in patients with overactive bladder (OAB) who were studied by urodynamics and its relationship with voiding symptoms. Methods: This is a cross‐sectional study of female adult patients with OAB syndrome who underwent UDS in a University Hospital in Chile between January 2015 and April 2020. FVD was defined either as bladder outlet obstruction (BOO) or detrusor underactivity (DU). BOO was established if the Solomon‐Greenwell BOO index was higher than 18. DU was diagnosed when the invasive maximum flow rate (Qmax) was ≤15 ml/sec, detrusor pressure at Qmax (Pdet@Qmax) was ≤20 cmH2O and postvoid residual (PVR) was greater than 10%. Urodynamic data and clinical features were compared between groups. Results: Two hundred and ninety‐nine UDS were selected and analyzed. Bladder outlet obstruction was diagnosed in 59 patients (19.7%), whereas DU was found in 10 patients (3.3%). In the multivariate analysis, the logistic regression to predict BOO demonstrated that night‐time frequency, the presence of detrusor overactivity and a higher PVR were independent predictors of BOO. Instead, for DU, the only independent predictor was a smaller voided volume in the pressure‐flow study. Conclusion: Female voiding dysfunction was found in 23% of patients with overactive bladder. BOO is more frequent than DU, and should be suspected in patients with higher night‐time frequency, presence of detrusor overactivity and a high PVR. Objective: To evaluate the urodynamics (UDS) of patients with postural tachycardia syndrome (PoTS).Methods: Patients with a confirmed diagnosis of PoTS referred by the department of neuro-cardiology to the neuro-urology were identified and their UDS were retrospectively reviewed.Results: In total, 50 patients (47 = 94.0% female) with confirmed PoTS and available UDS were identified. Mean age of females and males was 32.4 and 28.2 years, P = .15. Intermittent self-catheterisation was being used by 15/47 (31.9%) females at assessment. Detrusor overactivity was observed in 6 females (12.8%) (all at end fill and associated with urgency). In total, 14 (29.8%) females had no sensation of filling. No patients had an "unsafe" bladder. In total, 15/47 (31.9%) of women were unable to void with UDS catheters. Straining was reported in 22/35 (68.8%) of females. The female bladder outflow obstruction index = PDetQmax - 2.2(Qmax) was over 5 in 10/28 (35.7%) and over 18 in 5 (17.9%). The bladder contractility index = PDetQmax + 5Qmax was under 100 in 18/28 (28.6%) women.Conclusion: The UDS of patients with "PoTS bladder" often demonstrate a poorly sensate but stable and safe bladder with functional obstruction and impaired bladder contractility that may necessitate straining or intermittent self-catheterisation. Background: Several voiding abnormalities been seen to persist in women even after successful repair of vesicovaginal fistula (WF). Aims and Objectives: To establish the occurrence, incidence and type of voiding dysfunction in patients with WFs and the impact of repair of fistula on it. The fistulas were classified into type II (involving the closing mechanism) and type I (involving the closing mechanism) as per Waaldijk classification. Materials and Methods: Preoperatively urodynamic study was done in all 35 patients while in the postoperative period it was done only in 18 patients as five patients were lost to follow up and twelve patients denied consent for urodynamic study. Results: Preoperatively urodynamic SUI (n=6), detrusor instability (n=5), impaired bladder compliance (n=16) and voiding dysfunction (n=22) were noted. In the postoperative period too urodynamic SUI (n=l), detrusor instability (n=2), impaired bladder compliance (n=4), voiding dysfunction of hypotonic detrusor type(n=2) and obstructive voiding(n=2) were seen. The comparison of various urodynamic diagnoses between type I and type II fistulas preoperatively and postoperaively revealed a significant difference only in urodynamic SUI preoperatively (p=0.0118). Postoperatively five patients had a cystometric capacity less than 200 ml. The difference between various patient, fistula and treatment related factors in patients with and without urodynamic abnormalities was not statistically significant. Conclusions: Our study suggests that voiding abnormalities are quite common at short term follow up in patients with WF but whether they persist in long term needs to be seen. Voiding dysfunction is a common condition in the elderly that can affect both men and women. Due to the age-associated changes in the lower urinary tract, voiding dysfunction in the elderly is usually complex and multifactorial, necessitating more objective testing sometimes. In this chapter, we will focus on the role of urodynamics in the setting of voiding dysfunction in the elderly. The term voiding dysfunction will be used to refer both to storage and obstructive lower urinary tract symptoms.

In a clinical context, there are increasing numbers of people with voiding dysfunction. To date, the methods of monitoring the voiding status of patients have included voiding diary records at home or urodynamic examinations at hospitals. The former is less objective and often contains missing data, while the latter lacks frequent measurements and is an invasive procedure. In light of these shortcomings, this study developed an innovative and contact-free technique that assists in clinical voiding dysfunction monitoring and diagnosis. Vibration signals during urination were first detected using an accelerometer and then converted into the mel-frequency cepstrum coefficient (MFCC). Lastly, an artificial intelligence model combined with uniform manifold approximation and projection (UMAP) dimensionality reduction was used to analyze and predict six common patterns of uroflowmetry to assist in diagnosing voiding dysfunction. The model was applied to the voiding database, which included data from 76 males aged 30 to 80 who required uroflowmetry for voiding symptoms. The resulting system accuracy (precision, recall, and f1-score) was around 98% for both the weighted average and macro average. This low-cost system is suitable for at-home urinary monitoring and facilitates the long-term uroflow monitoring of patients outside hospital checkups. From a disease treatment and monitoring perspective, this article also reviews other studies and applications of artificial intelligence-based methods for voiding dysfunction monitoring, thus providing helpful diagnostic information for physicians.
