Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide Phosphate (NAD(P)H) plays an important role in numerous biologically significant redox reactions. The photochemical restoration of its oxidized form (NAD(P)+) under physiological conditions is intriguing in the context of integrated photo and catalysis. Herein, we report the functionalized graphitic carbon‐based solar light active photocatalyst by doping boron and fluorine in the native graphitic carbon nitride (GCN) (nonfunctionalized) for the regeneration of enzymatically visible light active coenzyme and in photo‐acetalization reactions. The metal‐free functionalized photocatalyst systems such as BFGCN‐x leads to higher yield NADH and NADPH regeneration. They are also capable of catalyzing acetal reactions in the absence of any Lewis and Bronsted acids. The current research endeavor provides the advancement and the application of functionalized GCN‐based photocatalysts for NADH (61.89%), NADPH (59.84%) regeneration, and photo‐acetalization reactions. A schematic strategy is presented to overcome the problem of low photocatalytic performance of graphene. Herein, we synthesized nitrogen-doped graphene (NDG)-coupled acid fuchsin (AF) photocatalyst, i.e.; NDGCAF photocatalyst. The NDGCAF photocatalyst has excellent solar light harvesting ability, band gap suitability, and high molar extinction coefficient than the NDG photocatalyst. Due to these properties, the NDGCAF photocatalyst has the ability to oxidize aryl-vinyl into aryl-vinyl-aldehyde under the irradiation of visible light. In this context, it exhibited the utmost conversion efficiency of aryl-vinyl to aryl-vinyl-aldehyde with a good yield of 98.15%. The combination of excellent electronic properties and thermal stability positions orange‐derived graphene quantum dots (GQDs) as promising materials for solar light‐based applications. Researchers are actively exploring their potential in fields such as photovoltaics, photocatalysis, optoelectronics, and energy storage. Their abundance, cost‐effectiveness, and eco‐friendly nature further contribute to their growing relevance in cutting‐edge scientific research. Furthermore, only GQDs are not much more effective in the UV‐visible region, therefore, required band gap engineering in GQDs material. In this context, we designed GQDs‐based light harvesting materials, which is active in UV‐visible region. Herein we synthesized GQDs coupled with 2,6‐diaminoanthrquninone (AQ), that is, GQDs@AQ light harvesting photocatalyst the first time for the oxidation of sulfide to sulfoxide under visible light. For the integrating reactions of sulfide in aerobic conditions under visible light by GQDs@AQ photocatalyst exhibit utmost higher photocatalytic activity than simple GQDs due to low molar extinction coefficient and slow recombination charges. The use of GQDs@AQ light harvesting photocatalyst, showed the excellent organic transformation efficiency of sulfide to sulfoxide with excellent yield (94%). The high efficiency and excellent yield of 94% indicate the effectiveness of GQDs@AQ as a photocatalyst for these specific organic transformations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Metal-free photocatalysis is a sustainable and environmentally friendly method of transforming solar energy into molecules with added value. A light-harvesting photocatalyst without metal Phloxin-B (P-B) in-situ edge functionalized graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) was assembled to enable the solar-light responsive photocatalytic C-H bond arylation and NADH regeneration cofactor. The photocatalytic performance was examined to estimate the C-H bond arylation and NADH regeneration efficiency by g-C3N4/P-B composite photocatalyst. The charge carrier transfer of g-C3N4 was found to be stimulated by the light harvester P-B layer, increasing the efficiency of chemical synthesis under solar light irradiation. In light of this, the g-C3N4/P-B composite photocatalyst exhibits high photocatalytic activity for the successful C-H bond arylation (98.6%) and regeneration of NADH (70.7%). This composite photocatalyst was characterized by FTIR and UV-visible spectrum along with particle size analysis, and cyclic voltammetry (CV). This effort offers a new and superficial technique to synthesize a highly efficient g-C3N4/P-B composite photocatalyst and afford a greener path for renewable energy and photocatalytic reactions. • Easy to make graphene-based visible light active photocatalyst (N en G-RhB) via condensation. • The N en G-RhB photocatalyst appears to be a noteworthy development, demonstrating its efficiency in the degradation of industrial orange g in the presence of solar light as well as the oxidative cyclization of aromatic thioamide. • Its potential for useful applications in solar-driven catalysis and environmental remediation is shown by the remarkable degradation efficiency of 97.29 % for the industrial dye and a high conversion rate of 92.5 % for the cyclization. This may open the door to more eco-friendly and productive procedures across a range of sectors. An efficient photocatalytic regeneration of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH) and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH) has been carried out by two‐electron reduction and protonation of NAD+/NADP+, induced by photons in the visible light region. This functional artificial photosynthetic counterpart of the complete energy‐trapping occurring in natural photosystem I (PS I) is achieved with nitrogen‐enrich graphene quantum dot (N‐EGQD) as the light‐harvesting photocatalyst. In buffer aqueous solution, this compound photo catalytically recycles a rhodium hydride complex of the type [Cp*Rh(bpy)H]+ (Cp* = pentamethylcyclopentadienyl, bpy = 2,2′‐bipyridine) which can mediate hydride transfer processes leading to nucleotide co‐factor reduction. Very promising yields of 73.31%/78.45% of NADH/NADPH with the excellent thermal stability of N‐EGQD photocatalyst is observed. Mimicking natural photosynthesis is a promising way to produce fine chemicals, yet there is a need for efficient catalysts. Here, we synthesized a photocatalyst made of self-assembled graphitic carbon nitride/sulfur/cobalt (III) tetraphenyl porphyrin, and we used this photocatalyst for production of the l-glutamate amino acid in 93.6% yield. C60‐based polymeric systems have been constantly anticipated for sustainable solar energy conversion. Reported, herein is a C60 polymer film as visible light active photocatalyst for efficient and selective reduction of CO2 for the first time. The C60 polymer photocatalyst is synthesized via covalent coupling of C60 monomer units consisting of tetra substituted C60‐pyrene conjugates through spacer groups. The synthesized C60 polymer photocatalyst possesses an extended network of well‐defined repeating monomer units with good stability and visible light‐induced photocatalytic activity. The enhanced visible light harvesting ability of C60 polymer photocatalyst reasonably yields it with higher catalytic ability than its monomer unit. The C60 polymer film photocatalyst upon coupling with the biocatalyst carries out highly selective visible light driven reduction of CO2 to HCOOH (239.46 μmol). The tandem way of incorporating C60 into visible light active polymeric films for continuous use may be highly rewarding for their extended photocatalytic activity for solar fuel production from CO2. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Natural photosynthesis is the primary route that supplies energy required for the endurance of all living things. The initial step in this process is the absorption of solar light by an organic-inorganic molecular organization called a light harvesting complex. This complicated natural solar energy conversion platform has inspired scientists to create artificial counter parts. As a means to achieve this, a self-assembled light harvesting carbon nitride/cobalt tetra-phenyl-porphyrin (CN/Co(III)TPP) material as a highly selective solar light active photocatalyst has been developed. The system exhibited excellent NADH regeneration (87.87%) and L-glutamate (94.30%) production under visible light irradiation.
