We demonstrate the emission of photons from a single molecule into a hybrid gap plasmon waveguide. Crystals of anthracene, doped with dibenzoterrylene (DBT), are grown on top of the waveguides. We investigate a single DBT molecule coupled to the plasmonic region of one of the guides and determine its in-plane orientation, excited state lifetime, and saturation intensity. The molecule emits light into the guide, which is remotely out-coupled by a grating. The second-order autocorrelation and cross-correlation functions show that the emitter is a single molecule and that the light emerging from the grating comes from that molecule. The coupling efficiency is found to be βWG = 11.6(1.5)%. This type of structure is promising for building new functionality into quantum-photonic circuits, where localized regions of strong emitter-guide coupling can be interconnected by low-loss dielectric guides. We recently proposed that an array of optical cavities containing quantum emitters could be interconnected by an optical bus made of Fabry Pérot resonators lying side by side, for applications in quantum information processing and quantum simulation. Here, we demonstrate the feasibility of this geometry. We show that the resonators can be conveniently coupled, and that the coupling rate between adjacent waveguides can be widely tuned using the thermo-optic effect. The device is linearly scalable and can be combined with other integrated devices, making it more generally applicable as an adjustable optical delay line or optical interconnect. We describe a realistic scheme for coupling atoms or other quantum emitters with an array of coupled optical cavities. We consider open Fabry-Perot microcavities coupled to the emitters. Our central innovation is to connect the microcavities to waveguide resonators, which are in turn evanescently coupled to each other on a photonic chip to form a coupled cavity chain. In this paper, we describe the components, their technical limitations and the factors that need to be determined experimentally. This provides the basis for a detailed theoretical analysis of two possible experiments to realize quantum squeezing and controlled quantum dynamics. We point out that individual organic dye molecules, deposited close to optical waveguides on a photonic chip, can act as single-photon sources. A thin silicon nitride strip waveguide is expected to collect 28% of the photons from a single dibenzoterrylene molecule. These molecules can also provide large, localized optical nonlinearities, which are enough to discriminate between one photon or two through a differential phase shift of 2° per photon.
