A simple hydrothermal route was developed to synthesis of rod-like manganese oxyhydroxide (MnOOH) and spindle-shaped manganese carbonate (MnCO) based on the redox reactions between potassium permanganate (KMnO) and β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) without extra surfactant or template. At the mass ratio between β-CD and KMnO of 0.25, MnOOH nanorods with the diameter about 40-400 nm and the length in the range of 2-10 μm could be facilely prepared in high yield. However, spindle-shaped MnCO microparticles were prepared when the mass ratio between β-CD and KMnO was increased to 1.5. The as-prepared products were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. Highly uniform copper dendrites were successfully prepared in large quantities by a simple wet chemical approach using hydrazine hydrate as reducant in the presence of polyethylene glycol 6000 (PEG-6000) at room temperature. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), ultraviolet (UV)-vis absorption spectroscopy, and x-ray diffraction (XRD) have been used to characterize the obtained products. It is found that the architecture of copper particles is drastically influenced by the mass ratio of PEG-6000/CuSO4(aq), PEG-6000/N2H4 · H2O, CuSO4(aq)/N2H4 · H2O and the concentration of precursors. Silver nanowires have been synthesized by ethylene glycol reduction of silver nitrate with the assistance of polyvinyl pyrrolidone and sodium sulfide in a large scale. By adjusting the reaction temperature and Na2S content, silver nanowires with lengths up to 3−4 μm can be achieved in high yield. Scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), selected areas electron diffraction (SAED), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) have been employed to characterize silver nanowires. Platinum nanotubes with length about 3 μm can be prepared using as-prepared silver nanowires as sacrificial templates. Platinum nanotubes were characterized by TEM, SAED, and HRTEM. Abstract Exploitation of catalysts with robust activity and popular price is crucial for sustainable water oxidation. Herein, the rod bundle-like nickel cobaltate (NiCo 2 O 4) was derived from the NiCo-BTC bimetal-organic coordination complex. The NiCo-BTC derived rod bundle-like NiCo 2 O 4 owns abundant mesoporous with the size of 2.2 nm, resulting in a considerable surface area of 18.9 m2/g. The derived rod bundle-like NiCo 2 O 4 exhibited remarkable electrocatalytic activity for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in 1.0 mol/L KOH solution, which delivered a low onset potential (1.49 V), and small Tafel slope (64.1 mV/dec) with outstanding stability. Therefore, the rod bundle-like NiCo 2 O 4 with unique mesoporous channels is a potential electrocatalyst for OER. In this study, hexagonal indium nitride nanocystallines with high crystallinity have been prepared by the reaction of InCl 3 ·4H 2 O, sulfur and NaNH 2 in an autoclave at 160 °C. The crystal structures and morphologies of the obtained InN sample are characterized by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscope. As InCl 3 ·4H 2 O is substituted by In(NO 3 ) 3 ·4.5H 2 O, InN nanocrystallines could also be obtained by using the similar method. The photoluminescence spectrum shows that the InN emits a broad peak positioned at 2.3 eV. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
