K Zr 2 PO 4 3 : xEu 3 + Nanophosphors with varying molar percentages (0.5, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 mol. %) are synthesized using a urea-assisted solution combustion synthesis approach. The phosphors exhibit crystallization in a rhombohedral phase, namely in the R 3 ¯ c space group with the help of X-ray diffraction. The anionic group of (PO4)3− is responsible for all the vibrations occurring in the FTIR spectra. The photoluminescence characteristics of K Zr 2 PO 4 3 : xEu 3 + (x = 0.5 – 5 mol. %) are examined when excited at a wavelength of 392 nm, resulting in the prominent emission at 613 nm. At a concentration of 2 mol. %, the optimal concentration is observed, and the emission tone of the phosphor is centered in the reddish part of the color gamut, with a high color purity of 92%. It is observed that the synthesized phosphor has a branching ratio more than 50%, indicating a possible laser emission transition. The band gap energy of K Zr 2 PO 4 3 : Eu 3 + is found via diffuse reflectance measurements and found to be 4.19 eV. The value of metallization criteria is less than unity which dictates the non-metallic nature of the synthesized phosphors. These results indicate that this phosphor is very suitable for use in solid-state lighting applications as a red light-emitting phosphor. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article reports the successful synthesis of high-purity NaZr 2 PO 4 3 : Eu 3 + 0.5 mol. % - 5 mol. % phosphate phosphor by solution combustion synthesis which emits in the reddish region. The x-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, photoluminescence spectroscopy, and diffuse reflectance spectroscopy measurements have all been used to analyze the synthesized phosphor's structural, vibrational, elemental composition, electronic, and optical characteristics in detail. Due to the preponderance of the magnetic dipole transition of the Eu3+ ions, the synthesized phosphors illuminated at the near ultraviolet light indicated the emission in the visible area. The phosphor's computed photometric characteristics indicated that the emission is in the reddish region with a high color purity of 94%. These findings demonstrated that the phosphor might work well in a variety of optoelectronic devices, including phosphor-converted white-light-emitting diodes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this work, we investigate how the structural and optical characteristics of ZrO2 and Na2ZrO3 are influenced by Sm3+ ion doping. Urea-assisted combustion approach is employed by varying the molar concentration of Sm3+ ions in both the host lattices. XRD pattern revealed the monoclinic crystal system for both samples. XPS investigation has been examined to acquire the chemical information of the samples. FESEM is used to identify the morphology of the samples. The optimum molar concentrations of Sm3+ doped ZrO2 and Na2ZrO3 phosphors, as per photoluminescence (PL) findings, are 1.5 mol% and 2 mol%, respectively. CIE coordinates of ZrO2:Sm3+ and Na2ZrO3:Sm3+ are found to be (x = 0.59, y = 0.41) and (x = 0.61, y = 0.39) that corresponds to the amber region of color gamut. The optical bandgap for the synthesized samples is estimated using the UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectra and the obtained values for the optimal concentration of dopant (Sm3+) in the ZrO2 and Na2ZrO3 samples are 4.61 and 4.94 eV, respectively. The findings of the study reveal that the synthesized phosphors may be utilized as warm light phosphors and be a promising candidate for amber light-emitting diodes (LEDs). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study details the effective solution combustion synthesis of novel Na 1 − x Zr 2 Dy x (PO 4) 3 (x = 0.05 − 0.5) (hereby abbreviated as NaZrPO : Dy 3 + ) phosphor. The structural investigation of synthesized phosphor employing X-ray diffraction and FTIR spectroscopy reveals the formation of single-phase phosphor and the presence of (PO 4)3- group. The lattice parameters turned out to be a = b = 8.798 Å , c = 22.794 Å. The morphological and chemical analysis is characterized by FE-SEM and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, respectively. According to PL spectrum, three traditional emission bands of Dy3+ ions (482 nm , 574 nm , and 663 nm) are observed, and the concentration quenching of the Dy3+ ions in the phosphor occurred at 3 mol. % as a result of the dipole-dipole interaction. Photometric results reveal the emission of the synthesized phosphor in the yellow-whitish region with a color purity of ∼80%. The optical parameters obtained from diffuse-reflectance spectroscopy, such as refractive index, metallization criterion, and bandgap, for the optimal molar concentration (3 mol. %) are 2.109, 0.46, and 4.3 eV, respectively. According to these results, when stimulated by a source of n -UV (348 nm), the synthesized phosphor is a promising candidate for solid-state lighting applications and might be used to produce WLEDs.
