Abstract

The article presents a study on the impact of resolution in digital elevation model (DEM) to modelled glacier during peak melt production. The process was evaluated by performing a radiation simulation in Peyto Glacier, Alberta in Canadian Rockies. Results showed that the total melt increased with DEM resolution when applied to planar area (PA) over three orders of magnitude. The study concluded that lower resolution mitigates the systematic error associated given that all surface are planar.
