The article examines the mercury concentration in the fish fauna of the Tapajós river in Amazon River Region in Brazil. It aims to identify the potential important factors or phenomena of a contamination situation of the area and to eliminate the less significance. It is said that in the area, mercury was used to amalgate fine gold particles. The observation of Lacerda et al., greater amalgation ratio of mercury and copper shows a greater amount was used in the process. Several samples of fish specimen were gathered and analyzed. Results indicates a greater potential health risk in the area due to mercury concentration.
