Abstract

The article cites a study of the role of the Spanish ibex as a host for various Mycoplasma species. The survey was carried in a diverse metapopulations of Spanish ibex in Andalusia, Spain between 1996 and 1998 using 321 animals randomly sampled. The survey revealed that Mycoplasma agalactiae was the most common Mycoplasma species found in the Spanish ibex populations of the country. It also suggested that the pathogen can influence the demographic parameters of the host.
