The article discusses the 2011 Arab Spring Uprisings and the political order that may result from them in the Middle East and North Africa. An overview of the history of unrest in the region, including the 1952 coup from which Colonel Gamal Abdel Nasser became Egypt's ruler, is presented. An overview of the social conditions in Arab countries as of June 2012, including unemployment, the rise of political Islam and the prospect for democracy, is also provided.
