The results of isotope–geochronological study of Quaternary mafic volcanism in the Kapan neovolcanic center (Southern Armenia) are discussed. The rocks studied are represented by alkaline basaltoids with haüyne as the main foid (ordanchites and haüyne basanites), which are unique for the Caucasian Region. As is evidenced from the K–Ar age results, the lavas of Kapan district were erupted in the Calabrian age of the Pleistocene during two separate pulses of magmatic activity (1.1–1.2 and ~0.9 Ma). The composition of igneous rocks is characterized, first of all, by the spatial position of volcanic vents without an evident correlation between the petrologic–mineralogical characteristics of the lavas and the time of their eruption. The youngest magmatic activity in the Kapan center is probably an echo of the Middle Pleistocene large-scale volcanism in the adjacent Syunik Highland. The article discusses the geochemical studies which includes petrological and isotope results of young lavas of Porak Neovolcanic Center in Lesser Caucasus, Armenia. Topics discussed include Neopleistocene–Holocene age estimation through Potassium–argon dating, geochemical data that suggest subalkaline basic nature of rocks and strontium isotope composition of erupted lavas.

The article examines the spatial migration of magmatic activity within the Caucasian segment of the Alpine Belt in the Early Neogene under the conditions of geotectonic setting. It discusses two basic assumptions on the origin of intraplate magmatism within Eastern Anatolia and the Caucasus. It presents the results of the isotope-geochronological investigation of some magmatic rocks of Southern Armenia and Eastern Anatolia. The article also cites the results of K-Ar dating of magmatic rocks of the Lesser Caucasus.

The article discusses the development of Neogene-Quaternary in the Aragats neovolcanic area located in the central part of the Lesser Caucasus Mountains on the territory of Armenia. The basement of the Aragats area is comprised of rocks of ancient metamorphic complexes, Cretaceous limestones, and Eocene volcanogenic sedimentary rocks. The area's quaternary magmatism is mainly controlled by the formation and eruptive action of the volcanic center of the same name in its central part. It mentions the isotope-geochronological data acquired for Eopleistocene rocks of the Aragats neovolcanic area.
