This study investigates changes in the East Asian winter monsoon (EAWM) under 1.5 and 2.0°C global warming (1.5 and 2.0GW) targets using multi‐model results from the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project phase 5 (CMIP5). It is found that the surface air temperature increases over the Asian continent and Pacific, and the precipitation increases over the northern Asian continent in winter during the 1.5 and 2.0GW periods. For the 1.5GW period, large uncertainties can be found in the projection of EAWM system members (i.e., Siberian high, Aleutian low, low‐level winds over eastern Asia, East Asian trough [EAT] and East Asian jet stream [EAJS]). For the 2.0GW period, more than two‐thirds of the models show that the Siberian high, the EAT and the meridional shear of the EAJS are weakened, but the Aleutian low is intensified. In addition, the intensified Aleutian low enhances low‐level northwesterly wind along the coast of northeastern Asia. Compared to those in the 1.5GW period, the EAWM system members show more robust changes during the 2.0GW period, except for the low‐level winds at mid‐latitude eastern Asia. The sensitivity of hydrologic variables in East China, that is, runoff, precipitation, evapotranspiration, and soil moisture to the fluctuation of East Asian summer monsoon (EASM), is evaluated by the Mann-Kendall correlation analysis on a spatial resolution of 1/4° in the period of 1952–2012. The results indicate remarkable spatial disparities in the correlation between the hydrologic variables and EASM. The regions in East China susceptible to hydrological change due to EASM fluctuation are identified. When the standardized anomaly of intensity index of EASM (EASMI) is above 1.00, the runoff of Haihe basin has increased by 49% on average, especially in the suburb of Beijing and Hebei province where the runoff has increased up to 105%. In contrast, the runoff in the basins of Haihe and Yellow River has decreased by about 27% and 17%, respectively, when the standardized anomaly of EASMI is below −1.00, which has brought severe drought to the areas since mid-1970s. Background Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is associated with adverse outcomes in patients who undergo coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). However, the impact of preoperative dialysis dependence and duration in CKD patients on outcomes after CABG has limited research. Objectives To evaluate the effect of preoperative dialysis dependence and duration on CABG outcomes in patients with CKD. Methods A total of 33,920 patients without CKD and 2573 patients with CKD, all of whom underwent isolated CABG between 1998 and 2009, were identified using the Taiwan National Health Insurance Research Database. The patients with CKD were divided into non-dialysis ( N = 1167), dialysis < 3 years ( N = 749), and dialysis ≥ 3 years ( N = 657) groups. The primary outcomes were cumulative incidence of all-cause mortality, cardiovascular (CV) death, and myocardial infarction (MI) or repeat revascularization. Results After adjustment of all covariates, a higher all-cause mortality was associated with dialysis ≥ 3 years than with dialysis < 3 years (hazard ratio [HR], 1.56; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.35–1.80; P < 0.001) and with non-dialysis (HR, 1.41; 95% CI, 1.20–1.66; P < 0.001) after 2 years of follow-up. Similar results were observed for CV death. In addition, both the dialysis groups had a higher risk of MI or revascularization than the non-dialysis group. Furthermore, subgroup analysis revealed that longer duration was associated with a higher risk of 30-day mortality ( P for linear trend < 0.001). Conclusions Among the CABG recipients, dialysis dependence is associated with a higher incidence of MI or repeat revascularization, and longer dialysis duration is associated with a higher risk of mortality. Background: Androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) use in prostate cancer (PCa) has seen a rising trend. We investigated the relationship between ADT and adverse changes in metabolic parameters in an Asian population., Methods: This is an international prospective multicenter single-arm cohort yielded from the real-life experience of ADT in Asia (READT) registry. Consecutive ADT-naïve patients diagnosed of PCa and started on ADT were prospectively recruited from 2016 and analyzed. Baseline patient characteristics, PCa disease status, and metabolic parameters were documented. Patients were followed up at 6-month interval for up to 5 years. Metabolic parameters including body weight, lipid profiles, and glycemic profiles were recorded and analyzed., Results: 589 patients were eligible for analysis. ADT was associated with adverse glycemic profiles, being notable at 6 months upon ADT initiation and persisted beyond 1 year. Comparing to baseline, fasting glucose level and hemoglobin A1c level increased by 4.8% (p < 0.001) and 2.7% (p < 0.001), respectively. Triglycerides level was also elevated by 16.1% at 6th month and by 20.6% at 12th month compared to baseline (p < 0.001). Mean body weight was 1.09 kg above baseline at 18th month (p < 0.001)., Conclusion: ADT was associated with adverse metabolic parameters in terms of glycemic profiles, lipid profiles, and body weight in the Asian population. These changes developed early in the treatment and can persist beyond the first year.
