Researchers from Jeonbuk National University in Jeonju, South Korea have conducted a study on Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptors (PPARs), which are proteins involved in regulating fatty acid metabolism. The researchers discovered that a protein called p21-activated kinase 4 (PAK4) phosphorylates another protein called NCoR1, resulting in the repression of PPAR alpha, a transcription factor involved in fatty acid oxidation and ketogenesis.
