The Yellow-footed Antechinus Antechinus flavipes is a widespread dasyurid marsupial living in a range of habitats in eastern and south-western Australia. Little is known of its diet; however, based on limited studies and anecdotes, it is thought to be a generalist carnivore. From a micro-histological study of scats from 25 animals in south-western Victoria, we found that while A. flavipes' diet consisted primarily of invertebrates, it also included considerable plant and some fungal material. Substantial variation in diet between individuals suggested that, like other species of the genus Antechinus, A. flavipes is most likely a generalist and opportunistic feeder, taking a wide range of food items, probably in response to their availability during individual foraging events. As an effective tool used within the evocative method of phenomenological inquiry, this article details the use of the written anecdotes of Godly Play storytellers in Australia to understand children as a means of grace. The phenomenological framework out of which the evocative method emanates is described, and four examples from the author's recent research with Godly Play storytellers using written anecdotes to describe occasions on which children may have been communicating grace, as well as a short analysis of what was revealed through a reflection on these anecdotes, is presented. This article considers the significance of gay men’s personal accounts of living with HIV or AIDS that were published in the gay press across the 1980s. Editors utilised individuals’ accounts of living with the illness to challenge mainstream media representations of gay men’s physical and emotional demise in the “final stages” of the debilitating illness. Such accounts conveyed the message that it was possible to resume one’s life after receiving a positive diagnosis. Gay men’s personal accounts of living with HIV or AIDS evolved from anonymous anecdotes to articles accompanied by the narrator’s full name and photograph by the end of the decade. This shift is attributed to Australia’s Third National AIDS Conference in 1988, whereby people with HIV and AIDS publicly disclosed their positive statuses. This article locates gay men’s personal accounts of living with HIV in a broader transnational shift towards the visibility of people with HIV and AIDS that was underway at that time. Australia has for some time been experimenting with techniques to facilitate access to law, to enable litigants in person to run their own cases, to simplify court proceedings and to deal with expert evidence in a manner where issues are more effectively defined and reasons for disagreement clearly articulated. In this article, two major elements of law reform in Australia are investigated, namely: (a) the introduction of super-tribunals with vast review, civil, commercial and vocational jurisdictions: and (b) the use of expert conferral and concurrent expert evidence to better utilise and assess expert evidence in courts and tribunals. The article relies on opinions expressed in literature and anecdotal evidence, as well as empirical research that has been done by the State Administrative Tribunal of Western Australia to demonstrate how super-tribunals and creative ways of dealing with expert evidence have led to greater transparency, accessibility and participation by litigants in person in legal processes. Despite claims of 'evidence based policy', the place of empirical evidence in family law reform is ambiguous. There is ongoing socio-legal analysis of the differential value and uses of quantitative data and anecdote in detailing women's experiences and advocating for change. In this paper, we engage with these issues through a focus on how data were constructed in a key government report, Every Picture Tells a Story, which was used to officially define the problem and outline recommendations in the controversial 2006-08 reform of the Australian Child Support Scheme. Our discussion focuses on two questions: what legitimacy is accorded to different kinds of evidence in family law reform processes?; and, how is this legitimacy gendered? We applied feminist critical discourse analysis to the type, source and claims of the data included in the child support chapter of the report. Our findings indicate that both quantitative data and anecdote were used to privilege fathers' financial interests and autonomy; in contrast, women's voices and interests were marginalised. Thus, we argue the legitimacy of data is ascribed through its relationship to the gendered definition of the 'problems' of child support, rather than the type of data per se. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The analysis in this article is based on a comic play that I wrote for PRONTO 2013 (a series of Performed Readings of New Theatrical Offerings, organized by Monash University Student Theatre), entitled Welcome to Aussieland!. The comedy is about a French student, Jennifer, who goes on exchange to Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. It is a "double" act of selftranslation in that it is strongly inspired by my own experience in Australia, and also in that it was composed in my adopted language, English. This self-reflexive article aims to integrate theoretical and critical material into a discussion on the consequences of the translation of such a work of self-translation into another language. It examines concrete examples drawn from a personal work, analyzing linguistic and cultural difficulties. Since both the success of its comic elements and its cultural identity are anchored in its translingual nature, retaining one would entail sacrificing the other. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Anecdotal evidence and a limited body of research suggests that telephone interactions between health care consumers and health professionals form an important part of unscheduled health care provision. However, very little is known about these interactions, particularly in the rural context. In rural Australia, there is a need to explore a range of models of service delivery. Telephone-based unscheduled care is one area that demands consideration. By defining unscheduled health care and delineating telephone-based unscheduled health care from other telehealth services, the concepts of formal and informal telephone-based unscheduled health care provision are explored. This article raises previously unasked questions about the role of telephone-based unscheduled health care in the rural context. As a dimension of health care that is poorly understood, the need for further conceptualisation, research and policy development in this area is highlighted. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
