Abstract

A recent report from Peking Union Medical College Hospital in Beijing, China, discusses the case of a 25-year-old patient with tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) who underwent surgical resection of a renal giant angiomyolipoma (RAML). TSC is an autosomal dominant hereditary disease that affects multiple organs and systems in the body, with TSC-associated kidney disease being a leading cause of death in adult TSC patients. The patient in this case had a tumor in the left lower quadrant of the kidney, which was successfully removed through open left partial nephrectomy. The postoperative pathology confirmed the diagnosis of angiomyolipoma. This case provides valuable information for the treatment of TSC-related renal giant hamartoma. [Extracted from the article]
