The article focuses on the series of leftist student protests at the Free University in Berlin, Germany. It says that some 70 students invaded professor Jurgen Zerche's classroom because he criticized the appointment of German-born Trotskyite Ernest Mandel by university president Rolf Kreibich. An overview of the changes in the ideals of the university since its establishment in 1948, and impact of the conflicts in the academic standards within university is presented.
