Abstract

This paper presents a research which consists in measuring potential energy which be obtained on the surface of water in motion and showing the phenomenon of "waves" monitoring in the Black Sea basin. For this were measured, processed and analyzed the amplitude of the waves, the frequency and the waves direction, more than 12 Mm shore, isobath of 50 m, to the coastal zone. There are described techniques and measurement accuracy durring one year. Also, are presented monitoring and processing data with graphycal interpretations, a comparative analysis between coastline data and off shore data and calculus of different waves parameters necessary to estimate the potential energy for medium values. The conclusions of experimental researches are: a) the existence of an energetic potential beyond expectations, much higher in the off shore area; b) the wave's energetic potential is significant and the direction of marine currents generates the accelerated erosion of Romanian shoreline. Abstract

The main objective of the study is to compare the costs interventions for marine depollution, the harmful effects caused by the use of chemical dispersants and the marine environment bioremediation using oil-eating bacteria. The key to combating oil spills effectively and with minimal deleterious effects on marine life is to understand the differences between the methods of intervention.This paper present: 1) the costs analysis of interventions with normal disperesants and with bioremediation procedure in the Black Sea Basin; 2) a computer simulation for an oil pollution with estimating the risk of the scenario accident; 3) the need to reduce the use of dispersants with negative environmental effects and the necessity to throughly investigate the bioremediation method of intervention in an oil pollution. 3. The Analysis of the Black Sea Waves Features in order to Capitalize their Hydropower Potential.

Abstract

This paper presents the waves characteristics near the Romanian coastline of the Black Sea, based on a large set of data from National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology. The main wave’s characteristics are: wave height, wavelength, period, wave celerity, Strouhal's number to study the similarity. Analyze is made in order to estimate the waves hydropower potential. From the polynomial integration of the wave’s height results this variation during a year. The average height of waves near the Romanian coastline of the Black Sea is about 2.5-3 m in cold seasons and about 1.5-2 m in warm seasons. This paper estimates the hydropower wave’s potential for a plant with 5 meters mounted at three different deeps - 10 m, 20 m and 30 m. For waves with average height of about 2 m, it can obtain 58-65 KW. Catching the wave energy near the shoreline is useful to reduce Romanian shoreline erosion. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

4. TORRENTIAL RAINFALL IN DOBRUDJA.

Abstract

Torrential rains fall during the warm season due to the intensification of the Azores Anticyclone activity, and the Atlantic and Mediterranean cyclone. Fundamental processes that lead to the development of cloud formations capable of producing large amounts of precipitation are, as it is known, convection and turbulent exchanges inside air masses. Summer rainfall in Dobrudja is of frontal nature and usually occurs during the day as showers. The correlation curve between the distance to the Black Sea of the pluviometric points and the maximum daily amounts of precipitation (24 hours) fallen during each of the summer months has a similar aspect to that of the average precipitation quantities on the Dobrudja territory during the warm period of the year (April-October) (Mihăilescu, 2001). Maximum amounts of rainfall (24 hours) decrease gradually from the land, from a distance of 30-35 km, with a tendency to reach the lowest values on the Black Sea littoral. The significant correlation coefficient between the distance to the sea and the maximum daily amounts of precipitation (24 hours) confirms their obvious influence on precipitation distribution in Dobrudja.
