The present paper includes an updated list of the decapod crustaceans collected during the surveys performed on the Turkish coast. A total of 244 species was reported (88 Natantia, 17 Macrura Reprantia, 37 Anomura, 102 Brachyura), an increase of 9.84% over the number published by Kocataş & Katağan (2003). Zoogeographic remarks regarding the species are briefly discussed. The Mediterranean caridean shrimp, Processa acutirostris Nouvel and Holthuis, 1957 recently collected from the Turkish Mediterranean coast is a new record for the Turkish Seas. Age and growth of Atlantic bonito ( Sarda sarda Bloch, 1793) were determined in the Black Sea and Sea of Marmara from October 2003 to May 2005. A total of 694 samples ranging from 23.5 to 71 cm total length was collected; age estimates were carried out on otoliths of 248 fish. Male and female fish ages were estimated as up to 3 +. The length–weight relationship and the von Bertalanffy growth curve (TVBGF) were described for all individuals as: W = 0.0054 L3.215 and L t = 68.01 [1 − e−0.895 ( t + 0.395)]. The brachyuran (Decapoda) taxocoenosis of a shallow meadow of Zostera marina was studied in a coastal area of the Sınop Peninsula (southern Black Sea, Turkey). Specimens were collected monthly between February 2002 and January 2003 with a beam trawl at depths of 5-20 m during benthic surveys carried out off the Sınop coast. A total of 3206 individuals belonging to 9 species was collected. The structure of the taxocoenosis along the year is dominated by portunid crabs; among these, Liocarcinus vernalis (Risso, 1816) is the most dominant species (36.87%). The largest Brachyura community in the Zostera marina beds was recorded in the summer months (June and July). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
