Abstract

The article deals with the one-year postbasic Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Program in Botswana, which was established in 1986 as a result of the development for provision of healthcare services in the country. FNP, which receives its budget from the Institute of Health Sciences at Gaborone (IHSG), offered nurses the opportunity to acquire advanced skills in diagnosis and management of common health problems in primary healthcare (PHC) settings.
