Introduction: The importance of tropical medicine cannot be overstated, since by the end of the 2030s, most humans will live in the tropics and will need protection from tropical diseases. Nevertheless, until now, there are no bibliometric studies about tropical medicine as a whole; all previous studies are limited to diseases, countries or particular journals, and are often limited to brief periods of time. Here we present an analysis of historical trends for the world and for the Revista de Biología Tropical in celebration of the journal's 70th anniversary. Objective: To assess geographic and historical trends in the study of tropical medicine included in a general database, the Web of Science and from a detailed analysis of one journal of particular importance for the field in the neotropical region. Methods: We limited our data to journals covered by the Web of Science category "tropical medicine" in the Science Citation Index Expanded (data updated 19 January 2022) and the Journal Citation Report on 30 June 2021. Results: We retrieved 69 480 articles, of which 44 % resulted from international collaboration with 194 participating countries; articles may reach 17-21 citations each, and the countries with outstanding results in the database include USA, Brazil, UK, Kenya and Switzerland. Research focus changes as diseases such as HIV, Dengue and tuberculosis become more or less important over time, but overall there was much research on Plasmodium, leishmaniasis and schistosomiasis. The journal Revista de Biología Tropical has significantly increased the number of topics covered, but still publishes studies about tropical biomedical subjects. Conclusions: While countries with large research budgets have a large presence in this database, lower income tropical countries like Brazil and Kenya have done a remarkable contribution in the field of tropical medicine. The adviser-advisee relationship, which is characterized as a form of knowledge propagation, has the possible effect of promoting an increase in the scientific production of both. Specifically, in graduate programs, where this relationship is more active, either in the preparation of the thesis or in the derivation of works related to this type of study, where this is the central point of this research. In this study, orientation data extracted from curricula registered in the Lattes Platform are used, with the aim of obtaining, in addition to an overview of the orientation process in Brazil, an analysis of the bibliographic production. As a result, it was possible to observe that some individuals, especially those who work in postgraduate programs, tend to obtain a greater amount of direct guidance and, consequently, family trees with a greater number of generations. It was also verified that the areas of activity of the advisers are determinant for more dense family trees. Therefore, it is concluded that some areas such as Biological Sciences and Human Sciences hold the academic family trees with the highest number of generations and individuals, to the detriment of others such as Exact Sciences and Engineering. Innovative, the study makes genealogy into fifteen levels, a fact that previous studies only reach seven levels of guidance families. The research described in this article is the result of questions from another previous investigation, that indicated a clear connection between Meaningful Learning Theory (TAS) and the brazilian area of science education. In this sense, we did outline a metric profile of articles published in journals in this field that presented meaningful learning in their contents. The methodology used was based on theoretical and methodological principles of bibliometry and scientometrics studies. We consulted all articles published between 1996 and 2018 from five scientific journals in this area published in Brazil. We analyze the following indicators: general aspects; authorship-production; content; and, references. The constructed scientometric profile brings relevant indicators to improve our understanding of trends, investigative fronts, sociological readings of science, reflections and alerts for the brazilian area of science education, especially for the community of researchers interested in this learning theory. Fire is a key ecological factor affecting biodiversity structure and composition. Fires' effects on biodiversity can be beneficial or harmful depending on how, where, when, and why they occur. The impacts of fire on fauna vary according to species ecology and the fire regime. To understand the research effort relating fire, fauna, and mammals, we surveyed papers published in World and in Brazil. Only 5% of the publications between 1970 and 2019 with fire subject dealt with fauna and 0.5% with mammal. For Brazil, we obtained 7% of papers for fauna and 3% for mammal. The Brazilian Biome with more papers was Cerrado, followed by Atlantic Forest, Amazon, Pampas, Caatinga and Pantanal. The United States of America and Australia stand out as protagonists in their continents with the largest papers number. The volume of research is related to investment in Research and Development and to occurrence of fires. The slope of temporal trend shows the terms related to wildfire have more papers than prescribed burn and there is less interest in fauna and mammal research. It is necessary to form research groups with these themes as research lines and intensify research relating fire ecology and mammals. There is yet no unified understanding of how fire may influence animal diversity and how it influences the vegetative structure and subsequently the resources which wildlife rely on. An unusual practice in universities worldwide, knowing the profile of its academic and scientific production, can help establish institutional and national development strategies. In this context, the profile of research and scientific production of the faculty in a federal higher education institution, nationally and internationally cited for its excellence, recognized in a study commissioned by CAPES on Brazilian scientific research, the period 2011 - 2016, in the 12th position when considered the absolute number of its indexed scientific products was delineated. Despite this prominent position in terms of the volume of its scientific production, when compared to national counterparts, this institution had low rates compared to the qualitative parameters considered in that report. This study was carried out to understand this disparity. Thus, the profile of the scientific production of this federal higher education institution was outlined by evaluating the titles of the vehicles in which such publications occurred; distribution and concentration of this publication by campuses, science center, and professor; professor profile and participation in graduate programs; quantitative and qualitative parameters of scientific production and its recognition by peers; among other variables. In the end, discussing the adequacy of evaluations of this nature in federal institutions of higher education in Brazil, and presenting behaviors that could increase the quality of scientific production, as well as rationalize the use of public resources for institutions with the same profile, in an intrinsic, continuous and necessary scientific knowledge management process. This article analyzes the trends and gaps in global scientific research on Conduct Disorder in children and adolescents. The scientometric analysis reveals that the majority of publications on the subject come from foreign sources, with emphasis on European countries, especially the United Kingdom. In the Brazilian context, there are significant challenges, such as financial obstacles for research and the adoption of advanced treatment methods. It is urgent to invest in and train professionals to incorporate new diagnostic and treatment methods in Brazil in order to improve care for children and adolescents with Conduct Disorder. Brazilian scientific production in Biochemistry increased in recent years, and the state of Rio Grande do Sul (RS) presented significant relevance in this context. The objective of this study is to characterize the profile of researchers in Biochemistry of public and private universities of RS and to quantify and analyze their scientific production (scientific papers; Ms and PhD theses). We observed that the majority of the researchers in Biochemistry in public and private institutions have a PhD degree. The Brazilian forest code was implemented in order to reconcile environmental protection and sustainable management of natural resources use and occupation of land by man. This work aimed to verify the level of debate on the issues deforestation and general ecology and the new forest code in public education and scientific community. A structured questionnaire was submitted to the students from all segments of the public education. A scientometric analysis was performed to check the level of scientific debate of the issues proposed at the questionnaire. The students presented a high hit rate and significant differences were detected in the number of correct answers at each level of education. This paper is part of a broader project dedicated to the study of scientific collaboration in the Brazilian public university system. The study's main objective is to characterize interdisciplinary practices in the universe of Brazilian federal universities. First a selection was made of 8,948 scientific journals published from 1997 to 2007 and indexed by the WebQualis System created by Capes (Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior) and/or by the Web of Science developed by the International Institute for Scientific Information (ISI). Then a sample of 1.206 co-authored articles written by researchers belonging to different institutions was selected. These articles were identified by WebQualis or the Web of Science as being inter or multi-disciplinary in nature. Using bibliometric indicators and social network analysis, is was possible to detect and visualize interdisciplinary collaboration networks and, based upon the selected set of indexed articles, provide an initial picture of interdisciplinary practices in Brazil. The main objective of this article is to present a research about a cienciometric analysis (method that analyzes the development of scientific knowledge) to check and reflect on the interfaces and intrafaces of Communication through the journal Communication & Society, which is the oldest current scientific publication of the communication field in Brazil, edited by the Methodist University of São Paulo Publisher. The research took the taxonomy used in studies of Romancini (2006) as an initial reference. Communication & Society started in 1979. It's a half-year publication and presents 52 editions until January 2010. The incidence of interfaces and intrafaces in the magazine was analyzed from the titles and keywords of the selected content, a total of 216 non-specified texts and 208 texts named articles. The results indicate a great approach to the communication area itself, the intrafaces which are similar to the classification proposed by the Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq), in Brazil, as a definition of the subareas of communication.
