Introduction: Mouth breathing is the prime respiratory dysfunction involved in oral pathology. However, many studies have not the same conclusions. Materials and methods: Our research is a randomized clinical study performed on pupils from secondary education in Bucharest schools. The sample size was about 1.595 pupils. The examination chart contains Silness and Loe plaque and gingival indexes and DMF-S caries index. The results have been obtained with 3.2.2 version of EpiInfo software and 16.0 version of SPSS statistical software. Results: Some statistical correlations between mouth breathing and plaque deposits or gingival inflammation in upper frontal teeth have been found. We didn't find any statistical correlations between mouth breathing and caries in the upper frontal teeth. Conclusions: The prevalence of mouth breathing was at the lowest level mentioning in literature. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
