The article focuses on studies from the University of California (UC) Davis' Center for Health and Nutrition Research (CHNR) on the health benefits of biologically active compounds (biofactors) in food. The study states that biofactors can treat and prevent illnesses such as heart disease, diabetes, and asthma. It also discusses several studies regarding biofactors' use in reducing the risk of chronic diseases, mitochondria's function in aging-related diseases, and genotyping asthma patients.
