Abstract

The article reports on Oracle's launching of its Oracle OpenWorld Conference in San Francisco, California with a series of service-oriented architecture-related (SOA) announcements which include the availability of Oracle SOA Suite 10g Release 3. The Release 3 version includes enhancements that simplify SOA deployment and installation which consist of a one-click install, an enhanced ESB (Enterprise Service Bus), expanded human workflow capabilities, enhanced Web services security, and interoperability facilities. It also cites the suite's Oracle BPEL (Business Process Execution Language) Process Manager orchestration component.

Abstract

The article relates the author's experience in cutting the cost on space exploration to avoid the risk of losing the business. He was brought to Rockwell International Space Systems Division's sprawling Space Shuttle facility in Los Angeles, California to teach workshop sessions on concurrent engineering. Rockwell space engineers were determined to be the aerospace cost-reduction leaders and still be on top in quality and on-time delivery.
