Abstract

The article reports that the Los Angeles County Department has investigated the epidemic of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in the county in 2013-2014. Topics discussed include the use of genotyping of isolates of Mycobacterium tuberculosis from patients, presence of comorbidities in patients allowing the transition of Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection to tuberculosis disease, and need of immediate response of the disease in order not to compromise public health.
