The article presents a study that deals with seasonal changes in the avian diet of breeding Sparrowhawks Accipiter nisus. The authors studied the diet of Sparrowhawks Accipiter nisus in the Carpathian Mountains during the 2002-2006 breeding seasons. Included in the study were 1592 items from four periods of the breeding cycle. Based on their analyses, the authors found out that 41 percent of the total number of prey were Turdus philomelos, Sylvia atricapilla, T. merula, Fringilla coelebs, Erithacus rubecula, and Parus. They highlighted the relationship between percentage of small- and medium-sized birds in the total biomass and the progressing season.
