Abstract

A recent report discusses research on hypothermia and its potential therapeutic benefits for tumors with mutant p53. The study found that mild hypothermia at 32 degrees Celsius restored the activity of temperature-sensitive mutant p53 in mice and inhibited tumor growth. Additionally, the researchers discovered that arsenic trioxide (ATO) could rescue mild mutant p53 with high basal activity at 37 degrees Celsius. The combination of mild hypothermia and ATO may provide an effective and safe procedure for targeting tumors with p53 mutations. [Extracted from the article]

Abstract

Researchers in Vancouver, Canada have developed a new imaging technique for detecting cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs), which play a critical role in tumor growth and metastasis. The researchers synthesized two novel compounds, SB03178 and SB04033, which were chelated to diagnostic or therapeutic radionuclides. PET imaging and biodistribution analyses in mice showed that SB03178 had higher tumor uptake and better tumor-to-background contrast ratios compared to SB04033. The researchers concluded that these preliminary findings support the clinical development of SB03178 for imaging and therapy in FAP-overexpressing neoplasms, particularly carcinomas.
