This text analyzes, from the perspective of framing, how newspapers framed the "Spanish influenza" suffered by the inhabitants of Chiapas in 1918. It was found that initially, they tried to minimize the lethality of the disease, but when the deceased increased and was verified the seriousness of the situation, they highlighted the measures dictated by political and health authorities, the generated solidarity, and marginally the economic consequences. The most frequently used frame was human interest, followed by solutions/recommendations and attribution of responsibility, in a context where Chiapas was experiencing military conflicts, eventho these had already decreased, from the Mexican Revolution.
