The article focuses on the study in Chicago, Illinois on the effect of preoperative cone location on the outcomes of patients with keratoconus or ectasia treated with corneal collagen crosslinking (CXL). It says that cones located centrally show the greatest improvement of visual acuity and topographic outcomes of CXL. Steven Greenstein, pre-residency research fellow at Cornea and Laser Eye Institute, says that the findings of the study reflect the difference in responses of patients to CXL.
