Purpose: This study aims to investigate how market orientation (MO) motivates firms to develop business model innovation and how such effects are moderated by strategic flexibility. Design/methodology/approach: In this study, a questionnaire-based survey was undertaken to test the proposed hypotheses. The empirical study was conducted on a sample of 204 firms using two key informants (408 respondents) in China. The regression model is used to test the proposed model. Findings: This research finds that both responsive market orientation (RMO) and proactive market orientation (PMO) have a positive effect on business model innovation. The effects of RMO and PMO on business model innovation are contingent on resource (coordination) flexibility in different ways. More importantly, this study finds that resource flexibility enhances the positive effect of RMO and weakens the positive effect of PMO. The study also finds that coordination flexibility enhances the positive effect of PMO. Research limitations/implications: Future research can explore the internal mechanisms through which RMO and PMO promote business model innovations. Although the study finds that both the MOs promote business model innovation, they may promote business model innovation through different mediating effects. Future research can explore the role of external dynamic capabilities. This research mainly focuses on the internal dynamic capability of focal firms. However, as a focal firm-centered boundary spanning activity system, to transform into a new business model, firms not only need to reconfigure internal resource base, but also need to realign external collaboration network. Practical implications: This research also bears important managerial implications. First, firms should be aware of the positive effect of MO on business model innovation. Firms with higher level of RMO or PMO can promote business model innovation. Second, when firms implement RMO for business model innovation, managers should focus on resource flexibility. Where MO is responsive, marketing managers need to be concerned with ensuring various applications of existing resource so as to understand effectively the current customers and market domain. Third, to leverage PMO for business model innovation, firms should adopt coordination flexibility. For firms with higher level PMO, firms should try to find the new internal coordination process for customer latent needs. As one of types of dynamic capabilities, MO is also the important antecedent of business model innovation. Prior research tends to propose and examine the negative relationship between market segmentation and energy efficiency. Does market segmentation necessarily impair energy efficiency? Considering the critical role that Chinaese government play in managing erergy efficiency, we propose a non-linear relationship between market segmentation and energy efficiency. Using data of 30 provinces in Mainland China during 2000 to 2017, we find an inverse U-shaped relationship between market segmentation and energy efficiency. Our findings remain robust after controlling endogeneity issues. Therefore, a moderate level of market segmentation is acceptable and beneficial for long-term improvement of energy efficiency in emerging economies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study analyzed the characteristics of BRAFV600E mutation in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) in Chinese coastal areas. We intended to identify noninvasive methods to determine BRAFV600E status in thyroid nodules prior to surgery. BRAFV600E mutation and the sonographic characteristics of thyroid nodules were investigated in 670 PTC patients in our hospital. We aimed to determine the relationship between BRAFV600E mutation and the clinicopathological and sonographic imaging characteristics of PTC. The mutation rate of the BRAFV600E was 78.2%. BRAFV600E mutation was significantly associated with central node (univariate analyses, P = .005; multivariate analyses, P < .001, odds ratio [OR] = 10.255) and lateral node metastases (univariate analyses, P = .001; multivariate analyses, P < .001, OR = 22). It was less frequent in PTC coexisting with Hashimoto's thyroiditis (univariate analyses, P = .016; multivariate analyses, P < .001, OR = .034). Nodules without blood flow had a significantly higher mutation rate of BRAFV600E in PTC patients (univariate analyses, P = .026). BRAFV600E mutation was significantly associated with high suspicion in the Thyroid Imaging Reporting and Data System 5 (univariate analyses, P = .004; multivariate analyses, P = .014, OR = 6.456). Our results strongly suggest that BRAFV600E mutation plays a potential role in lymph node metastasis (central node metastasis, OR = 10.225; lateral node metastasis, OR = 22). This study presents new zircon U–Pb ages, Sr–Nd–Hf isotopic data, and whole‐rock geochemical data obtained from the Early Cretaceous volcanic rocks from the north‐western Great Xing'an Range, Northeast China, to constrain the late Mesozoic magmatism and geodynamic setting of this region, which is located in the eastern segment of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt (CAOB). Zircon U–Pb age determinations show that the studied samples formed at 124–114 Ma with an Early Cretaceous magmatic event produced voluminous felsic and minor mafic volcanic rocks. The mafic rocks are dominantly basalt and basaltic andesite, with relatively low SiO2 contents (49.88–56.64 wt.%). These rocks are enriched in Th, U, large‐ion lithophile elements (LILE; e.g., Rb, Ba, and K) and light rare‐earth elements (REEs), and depleted in high‐field‐strength elements (HFSE; e.g., Nb, Ta, and Ti) and heavy REEs (Yb and Lu). The rocks have εNd(t) values of 0.44–0.75 and initial 87Sr/86Sr ratio of 0.70499–0.70548. These results indicate that the mafic rocks were derived from the partial melting of enriched lithospheric mantle that had been previously metasomatized by subduction‐related fluids and experienced variable amounts of fractional crystallization and moderate crustal contamination. In contrast to the mafic rocks, the felsic rocks are dominantly peraluminous trachytes, rhyolites, and dacites with high SiO2 contents and low MgO contents. These felsic rocks display enriched and variable concentrations of LILEs and REEs, show negative Eu anomalies, and have εHf(t) values of +2.6 to +8.3 with TDM2 ages of 1,014–655 Ma, indicating they were derived from partial melting of juvenile crustal materials. These Early Cretaceous igneous rock assemblages record a post‐collisional lithospheric extensional setting resulting from the closure of the Mongol–Okhotsk Ocean, consistent with the results of previous studies on the contemporaneous tectono‐magmatic activities in NE China. Meteorological elements are important for various fields related to human activities, including scientific research. Using the Tibetan Areas of West Sichuan Province (TAOWS) as an example, this study examined the estimation methods for near-surface air temperature (Ta), vapour pressure deficit (VPD), and atmospheric pressure (P) and their distribution characteristics in areas with complex terrains and sparse stations. An improved satellite-based approach, combining an artificial neural network and inverse distance weighting (ANN-IDW), is proposed for estimating Ta and VPD with high-accuracy under all weather conditions from Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) data. The data of 41 meteorological stations in TAOWS and its adjacent areas were used for the training and validation of the ANN-IDW. For Ta and VPD, the mean absolute errors (MAEs) of the ANN-IDW are 1.45°C to 2.15°C and 0.54 hPa to 0.87 hPa, respectively. Also, the detailed features of the distribution of the estimated Ta and VPD are prominent and closely related to the terrain. The accuracy of the method was also verified indirectly. In addition, the improved method based on the existing method was applied for estimating P. The results confirm that (1) the ANN-IDW is suitable for estimating Ta and VPD in areas with complex terrain and sparse stations under all weather conditions; (2) the improved method is more suitable for estimating P at high-elevation. Moreover, the distribution characteristics of meteorological elements in TAOWS were also analysed. These elements influence agricultural production and animal husbandry and have a high application value. The results further show that topography is the most important factor affecting the spatial distribution and complexity of meteorological elements over complex terrains, but the degree of influence of topography varies greatly across different seasons. In this paper, we report on LA‐ICP‐MS zircon U–Pb dates of 14 Mesozoic volcanic rocks from the central Great Xing'an Range (CGXR). These data are integrated with the temporal and spatial distribution of local magmatism‐related Mesozoic mineralization, in an effort to develop an understanding of the geodynamic evolution of the region. Periodic magmatic events in the GXR date from ~1,703 through ~145 Ma. Mesozoic volcanism in the CGXR can be subdivided into three episodes: Triassic (250–205 Ma), Early–Middle Jurassic (182–165 Ma), and Late Jurassic–Early Cretaceous (155–115 Ma). A revision of the previously defined volcanic sequence is offered using a combination of our zircon U–Pb ages and published Mesozoic geological and geophysical evidence from northeast China. We propose that (a) Early–Middle Triassic volcanism in the CGXR resulted from subduction of the Paleo‐Asian oceanic plate; (b) Late Triassic volcanism was related to subduction of the Mongol–Okhotsk oceanic plate (especially near the Erguna Block) and subsequent extension after the closure of the Paleo‐Asian Ocean; (c) Early–Middle Jurassic volcanism was mainly controlled by the southward subduction of the Mongol–Okhotsk oceanic plate; (d) Late Jurassic–initial Early Cretaceous magmatism was initiated by closure of the Mongol–Okhotsk Ocean; and (e) late Early Cretaceous volcanism was induced following the final closure of the Mongol–Okhotsk Ocean and rollback of the Paleo‐Pacific oceanic plate. The rise of short video applications such as TikTok has brought new opportunities to maximize student learning experiences in online learning environments. Meanwhile, literature that explores its potential to foster student engagement is scarce. To understand the effect of short video applications on students' learning engagement, we take Douyin (the Chinese version of TikTok) as an example to include user experience variables (i.e., playfulness, satisfaction, anxiety) and technology features variables (i.e., interactivity and virtual reward). Five hundred-two valid questionnaire responses were collected from Chinese undergraduates. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Model (PLS-SEM) to test the hypothesis. Overall, learning anxiety has a negative effect on learning engagement, whereas learning satisfaction has a positive effect. Virtual reward has a negative moderating effect on the relationship between interaction and anxiety. Still, it positively moderates the relationship between satisfaction and learning engagement. In addition, both years of using a mobile phone and TikTok positively influence learning engagement. Collectively, the proposed model was supported and provided empirical evidence regarding the importance of user experience and product features (such as Intelligent recommendation and virtual reward) on student engagement. In recent years, many regions including China have witnessed fast growth of dry ports. Unlike in the other regions of the world, the amount of cargos handled by most dry ports in China is not in compliance with the significant amount of resources invested, but the reasons behind have not been discussed before. After a brief review on the development pattern of Chinese dry ports, certain dry port functions like customs clearance and rail connection, dry port ownership structure, and inter-competition among dry ports are identified as the unique factors which distinguish Chinese dry ports from others and affect their performance. We investigate the relationship between these factors and the efficiency of Chinese dry ports with a two-stage approach based on a panel data collected from eight dry ports affiliated to the port of Ningbo, China, covering the 2011–2016 period. In the first stage, Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is used to measure these dry ports' technical efficiency. In the second stage, Tobit regression analysis is applied to explore the relationship between efficiency and the above mentioned factors. Hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) is a serious public health issue in many countries; however, its transmissibility in county-level outbreaks remains unclear. The aim of this study is to estimate the transmissibility of HFMD epidemics on both city level and county level, for a better understanding of the transmission dynamics of HFMD epidemics. Simulation based on data obtained from the China Information System for Disease Control and Prevention. The weekly number of reported HFMD cases from April 2009 to December 2017 in nine regions of Changsha City was collected. A susceptible-infectious-recovered model was used to estimate the transmissibility of HFMD. The reproduction number of reported cases during the ascending (denoted as R asc) and descending (denoted as R des) period was used to describe the transmissibility of HFMD. The R asc and R des for HFMD in Changsha was 1.44 (95% confidence interval [ CI ]: 1.41–1.48) and 0.71 (95% CI : 0.69–0.73), respectively. There was no statistical significance of R asc values among nine regions (F = 1.056, P = 0.396), nor of R des values among nine regions (F = 1.676, P = 0.106). The average R asc (1.53, 95% CI : 1.46–1.61) from 2009 to 2012 was higher than the one (1.37, 95% CI : 1.34–1.40) from 2013 to 2017 (t = 3.974, P < 0.001), but the average R des (0.67, 95% CI : 0.63–0.70) from 2009 to 2012 was lower than the one (0.74, 95% CI : 0.73–0.76) from 2013 to 2017 (t = −3.751, P < 0.001). Purpose: To compare visual outcomes and aberration outcomes in small incision lenticule extraction (SMILE) versus femtosecond laser LASIK (FS‐LASIK). Methods: This prospective, comparative, nonrandomized clinical study included 68 eyes of 37 patients receiving SMILE and 55 eyes of 30 patients receiving FS‐LASIK between December 2011 and January 2013 at the Fudan University Eye and ENT Hospital (Shanghai, People's Republic of China). Patients were followed up at 3, 6 months and 5 years after surgery. Main outcome measurements included uncorrected (UDVA) and corrected (CDVA) distance visual acuity, manifest refraction, central corneal thickness (CCT), total corneal refractive power (TCRP) and wavefront aberrations. Results: About 98% (49/50) of treated eyes in the SMILE group and 95% (39/41) in the FS‐LASIK group had a postoperative logMAR UDVA of 0 or better. Spherical equivalent (SE) after 5 years was −0.01 ± 0.35 D in the SMILE group and −0.23 ± 0.41 D in the FS‐LASIK group. A regression of −0.02 ± 0.39 D in the SMILE group and −0.12 ± 0.32 D in the FS‐LASIK group was observed between 6 months and 5 years postoperative time‐points. TCRP increased by 0.39 ± 0.38 D in the SMILE group and 0.45 ± 0.49 D in the FS‐LASIK group between 6‐month and 5‐year time‐points. However, no statistically significant difference was found between the SMILE and FS‐LASIK groups in terms of ∆SE, ∆CCT and ∆TCRP between 6 months and 5 years postoperative time‐points. Conclusion: Myopic regression was observed in terms of TCRP but not in subjective refraction. No statistically significant difference in stability was found between SMILE and FS‐LASIK. Purpose With continuous concerning on the toxic of element Pb, Pb-free solder was gradually used to replace traditional Sn-Pb solder. However, during the transition period from Sn-Pb to Pb-free solder, mixing of Sn-Pb and Pb-free is inevitable occurred in certain products, and in China where Sn-Pb solder was still used extensively in certain areas especially. Correspondingly, understanding reliability of Sn-Pb solder joints was very important, and further studies were needed.Design/methodology/approach Thermal shock test between −55°C and 125 °C was conducted on Sn-37Pb solder bumps in the BGA package to investigate the microstructure evolution and the growth mechanism of interfacial intermetallic compound (IMC) layer. The effects of thermal shock on the mechanical property and fracture behavior of Sn-37Pb solder bumps were discussed.Findings Pb-rich phase was coarsened and voids were increased at first; Pb-rich phase was refined and voids were decreased secondly with the increase of thermal shock cycles; the shear strength of solder bumps was slightly decreased after thermal shock, but was back up to 73.67MPa at 2,000 cycles; interfacial IMCs of solder bumps was from typical scallop-type into smooth, the composition of IMCs was from Cu6Sn5 into Cu6Sn5 and Cu3Sn after thermal shock with 1,500 and 2,000 cycles; 20.0 per cent of solder bumps at 1,500 cycles and 9.5 per cent of solder bumps at 2,000 cycles were failure respectively.Originality/value Compared with the board level test method, the impact shear test for the single solder bump is more convenient and economical and is actively pursued by the industries. Introduction: The rapid development of economy has led to extensive raw material consumption and relevant environmental damage in China. To analyze environmental impacts and identify materials resulting in these environmental effects via raw material extraction, we combine economy-wide material flow accounting and life-cycle analysis methods to estimate environmental impacts of Chinese domestic extraction (DE) during the period of 1992–2015. The relationship between these increasing environmental impacts and Chinese GDP was also explored by decoupling analysis. Outcomes: Results show that Chinese DE increased by 372% during 1992–2015. The global warming potential, abiotic depletion potential, and respiratory inorganics of Chinese DE increased by 195%, 46%, and 408%, respectively. In terms of specific materials, extraction of iron ores, gravel and sand, and coal induced the most environmental impacts. The relationship between environmental impacts and Chinese GDP/DE was characterized by relative decoupling. Conclusion: To minimize the environmental impacts of extraction, we recommend that the Chinese government improve its extraction techniques and reduce excess demand for materials with large extraction such as iron ores, gravel and sand, and coal. Abstract Under the Belt and Road (B&R) initiative, two new emerging trade corridors connecting the Far East to Europe have been built. One is the China-Europe Sea-Land Express Line (CESEL) and the other is the New Eurasian Land Bridge (NELB). This paper aims to understand the attitude of relevant stakeholders towards the performance of the Traditional Sea-Land Line (TSLL) alongside the two emerging container routes under the B&R initiative. To achieve this objective, we first of all built a performance evaluation system to understand the relative performance of these trade routes. A questionnaire survey was carried out to reveal the differing views on route performance, and Fuzzy Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) was then used to examine and interpret the survey data. Secondly, by dividing the interviewees into two groups, we examined whether the government’s development priorities are at variance with the preferences of industry practitioners. Thirdly, we explored the reasons for the variance by conducting an intensive interview with ten key stakeholders and then explain the findings from the perspective of institutional theories. Finally, we addressed the uncertainty and dynamics of route development under three different scenarios. Several managerial implications are proposed on the basis of our findings. The focus of this paper is the selection of paths for the maritime transportation of crude oil. In addition to transportation cost, the nodes in a maritime transportation network are always affected by extreme events. Therefore, connectivity reliability must be considered during path selection. In this paper, uncertainty variables are introduced to describe the connectivity reliability of nodes under the influence of extreme events, and an uncertain bi-objective programming model with connectivity reliability maximization and transportation cost minimization as objectives is established for path selection. China’s maritime transportation network for crude oil imports is used as a case study to validate the model, the effects of variations in the model parameters on path selection, transportation cost and connectivity reliability are discussed in the case study. Teachers' teaching level evaluation is an important component in classroom teaching and professional promotion in the institutions of higher learning in China. Many self-made questionnaires are currently being administered to Chinese college students to evaluate teachers' classroom teaching performance. Quite often, due to the absence of strong educational, and psychological measurements and theoretical foundations for these questionnaires, their dependability remains open to doubt. Evaluation time points, the number of students, major type, and curriculum type were examined in relation to college students' perceptions on their teachers' classroom teaching performance, using Teachers' Teaching Level Evaluation Scale for Colleges (TTLES-C). Data were collected in a sample of 556 students at two time points from three Chinese universities and were analyzed using multivariate generalizability theory. Results showed that evaluations at the beginning of the spring semester produced better outcomes than did evaluations at the end of the fall semester, and 20 student evaluators were sufficient to ensure good dependability. Results also revealed that the evaluation dependability of science curriculum appeared higher than that of liberal arts curriculum. Recommendations were discussed on the evaluation criteria and mode. Phytogeographical variation has an impact on up/down regulation of secondary metabolites in medicinal plants. In this context, present study analyzed the influence of environmental factors on secondary metabolites in Salvia miltiorrhiza from natural habitat of China with different topographical conditions. The chemotypic variation was further correlated with climatic factors than micronutrients in the soil. The data revealed that tanshinones were more likely to be influenced by changes in ecological factors compared with phenolic acids. Tanshinone content was positively correlated with annual sunshine duration (correlation coefficients ranged from 0.379 to 0.730, P <  0.01 or 0.05), but negatively correlated with annual mean temperature (correlation coefficients ranged from −0.358 to −0.718, P <  0.01 or 0.05) and annual average precipitation (correlation coefficients ranged from −0.425 to −0.679, P <  0.01); the opposite situation was found in salvianolic acid B (correlation coefficients were −0.137, 0.084, 0.19), caffeic acid (correlation coefficients were −0.336, 0.246, 0.216, P <  0.05) and rosmarinic acid (correlation coefficients were −0.518, 0.475, 0.493, P <  0.01). Among the micronutrients, soil concentrations of Ba, Al and Mg exhibit the positive correlation with tanshinone content, but Pb exhibit the negative correlation with tanshinone content. Total N and K presented positive effects on most of phenolic acids. Ba showed significant negative and direct effects on salvianolic acid B (correlation coefficient was −0.281) and Rosmarinic acid (correlation coefficient was −0.367, P <  0.05). Therefore, the elite chemotype of S. miltiorrhiza identified among the collected samples express the correlation of phyto-geographical condition on the quantity of industrially viable metabolites, tashinones and phenolic acids. This aids in site specific exploration of high metabolite yielding samples to meet out the commercial demands and, promote the agriculture practices of this industrial crop for societal upliftment in area having similar phytogeographical locations. The flavonoid extract from Erigeron breviscapus, breviscapine, has increasingly been used to treat cardio- and cerebrovascular diseases in China for more than 30 years, and plant supply of E. breviscapus is becoming insufficient to satisfy the growing market demand. Here we report an alternative strategy for the supply of breviscapine by building a yeast cell factory using synthetic biology. We identify two key enzymes in the biosynthetic pathway (flavonoid- 7-O-glucuronosyltransferase and flavone-6-hydroxylase) from E. breviscapus genome and engineer yeast to produce breviscapine from glucose. After metabolic engineering and optimization of fed-batch fermentation, scutellarin and apigenin-7-O-glucuronide, two major active ingredients of breviscapine, reach to 108 and 185 mg l-1, respectively. Our study not only introduces an alternative source of these valuable compounds, but also provides an example of integrating genomics and synthetic biology knowledge for metabolic engineering of natural compounds. Backgrounds and Purpose: This study was aimed at investigating the outcomes and predictors for the poor functional outcome after endovascular treatment (EVT) in a large, mostly Asian population. Methods: Between January 2014 and June 2016, acute stroke patients with anterior circulation occlusion and EVT were retrospectively enrolled from 21 stroke centers in China. The main outcomes were modified Rankin Scale (0-2 as functional independence, 3-6 as poor) at 90 days, symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH) at 72 h, and death at 90 days. Logistic regression was used to identify predictors for poor functional outcome at 90 days. Results: Of the 698 patients, 304 (43.6%) patients had functional independence at 90 days. The sICH rate was 15.5% (108/698) and mortality rate at 90 days was 25.4% (177/698). Age (OR 1.04, 95% CI 1.02-1.07), National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale score at admission (11-20 vs. ≤ 10, OR 2.38, 95% CI 1.23-4.59; ≥ 21 vs. ≤ 10, OR 3.66, 95% CI 1.72-7.80), baseline glucose level (OR 1.09, 95% CI 1.01-1.18), onset to groin puncture >6 h (OR 1.88, 95% CI 1.06-3.31), sICH (OR 15.49, 95% CI 5.16-46.43), and pneumonia (OR 3.15, 95% CI 1.86-5.32) were independent predictors of poor functional outcomes, while good recanalization (OR 0.26, 95% CI 0.13-0.54), preoperative Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score 8-10 (OR 0.48, 95% CI 0.28-0.83), and good collateral flow (OR 0.50, 95% CI 0.32-0.79) were protective factors. Conclusions: This study provides evidence in real world to support the performance of EVT in acute anterior circulation stroke patients in Chinese population. The students’ dormitory is the minimum living unit of the universities’ campus, carrying the students’ living, communication and learning activities. In this paper, CFD method is used to simulate the indoor environment of the student dormitory in Jinan. The indoor natural ventilation of the interior corridor dormitory and the outer corridor dormitory was analyzed under two meteorological conditions. The results show that the natural ventilation of outer corridor dormitory is better than the natural ventilation of interior corridor dormitory. And based on these analyses, this paper puts forward a design strategy and optimization method of natural ventilation in the dormitory. Through the discussing of natural ventilation design in college students’ dormitory in this paper, hoping that the natural ventilation design in the design of the college dorms is valued, so as to attach importance to students’ dormitory, a particular type of building which is closely related to students’ daily life. China's steel output has maintained rapid growth over the past twenty years. Due to this, a large number of iron ore ports/terminals have been built along the Yangtze River, and the Yangtze River bulk port system has experienced a unique development in its structure. This paper aims to understand the evolution of this bulk port system. 1 1 In this paper, bulk cargo mainly refers to iron ore bulk cargo. along the Yangtze River. To achieve this objective, first the development phases of the Yangtze River bulk port system are reviewed, taking the theoretical (container) port evolution model as a benchmark. Then several hypotheses addressing certain features of bulk port system development are proposed, followed by using panel data analysis to test these hypotheses. Based on this discussion and analysis, the major driving forces that are reshaping bulk port development along the Yangtze River are then summarized. It is found that evolution of the Yangtze River bulk port system in general follows the port development models in previous literature. However, the trend toward regionalization and an offshore hub have not appeared. Besides this, iron ore transshipment is moving outward both for sea ports and river ports, and few iron ore transshipment gateway hubs are occurring. Furthermore, the transshipment function of a bulk port plays a significant role in port traffic changes, but this role is affecting sea ports differently to river ports. The container throughput of transshipment sea ports has a significant negative effect on bulk traffic, whereas that of transshipment river ports has a positive effect. Geographical conditions, institutional factors and national policy, industry agglomeration, changes in market supply and demand, and technology updates are major factors driving changes to the port system structure. Air pollution is associated with risks of mortality in China, but the evidence is still limited for morbidity. This study aims to examine overall effects of ambient air pollutants on emergency hospital visits (EHVs) at the national level in China and calculate corresponding attributable risks. We collected daily data for EHVs from 33 largest hospitals in China between Oct 2013 and Dec 2014, as well as daily measurements of particulate matter (PM 10 and PM 2.5 : particles with aerodynamic diameter < 10 μm and 2.5 μm, respectively), nitrogen dioxide (NO 2 ) and sulphur dioxide (SO 2 ) from 31 cities where the hospitals were located. Firstly, quasi-Poisson regression with a constrained distributed lag model (CDLM) was employed to examine city-specific associations of EHVs with each pollutant. Then, the effects at the national scale were pooled with a random-effect meta-analysis. Daily EHVs was significantly associated with a 10 μg/m3 increase in PM 2.5 at lag 0–2 days [cumulative relative risk (RR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI): 1.006 (1.002, 1.009)], PM 10 at lag 0–1 days [1.004 (1.002, 1.006)], NO 2 at lag 0–1 days [1.015 (1.010, 1.019)] and SO 2 at lag 0–2 days [1.022 (1.014, 1.030)]. The effect estimates were not modified by sex, but stronger effects were observed among children than adults. Overall, 3.34% of EHVs may result from exposure to ambient PM 2.5 , 3.96% to PM 10 , 5.90% to NO 2 and 5.38% to SO 2 . Exposure to outdoor air pollution has acute effects on EHVs. Urinary stones and urine composition are the first steps in the process of recurrence prevention, but data concerning the association between the two compositions are scarce in Chinese children with urolithiasis. We retrospectively analyzed the records of children (age range 0-18 years) with urolithiasis in our center between March 2004 and December 2013. Stone analysis was carried out in 382 children and 24-hour urine analysis in 80 children. Analysis of both stone and 24-hour urine composition was completed in 56 children. Stone samples were analyzed by Fourier transform-infrared spectrometry. The major stone constituents were calcium oxalate (78.8 %). Of 80 children with 24 h urine analysis, only 2.5 % were without urinary metabolic abnormalities. Hypocitraturia was recorded in 97.5 %, high sodium excretion in 50.0 %, cystinuria in 48.7 %, hypercalciuria in 18.8 %, small urine volumes in 12.5 %, hyperoxaluria in 5.0 % and hyperuricosuria in 1.3 %. Interestingly, higher urine volumes were recorded in girls than in boys (73.2 ± 58.5 vs 51.3 ± 45.3 mL/kg, p = 0.036). Urine sodium ( p = 0.002) and oxalate ( p = 0.004) were significantly higher in children >9 year old. Moreover, compared with calcium oxalate stone formers, the urine volume ( p = 0.040), citrate ( p = 0.007) and cystine ( p = 0.004) were higher in patients with cystine stones. In the past decades, a multilayer transshipment network of bulk shipping has been formed along the Yangtze River so as to support the fast development of Chinese iron and steel industry. Yet with the decrease of iron ore trade in China since 2014, the bulk port system on Yangtze River probably will be subject to change in the future. Under this background, this paper aims to analyze the development potential of Yangtze River bulk ports system with a focus on iron ore transshipment. To realize this objective, we firstly sort out the main transshipment patterns of bulk shipping, and optimize the bulk-shipping network with an optimization model. Several scenarios are then proposed and examined in the model by changing corresponding parameters. Cooperation among ports as one scenario is analyzed by applying core theory in cooperative game. Based on the changes of transshipment plans observed under the various scenarios, we finally ascertain the different development potentials of the system, and provide suggestions to the port operators and local maritime authorities. A life cycle assessment (LCA) and partial life cycle cost (LCC) were carried out to identify the environmental and economic burdens of six different strength grades of cement manufacturing in China. The comparative results show that the higher the strength grade of the cement, the greater the environmental impacts and the slightly better economic performance compared with cement with lower strength grade. Common cement has more environmental impacts and a higher economic cost than the early strength cement with the same strength grade. The mid-point LCA and partial LCC results indicated that high resource and energy consumption, direct emissions and the transport of raw materials during cement production are the main processes contributing to the majority of the environmental categories and the economic cost. The endpoint LCA results indicate that the impacts generated with respect to global warming and resource categories made dominant contributions to the overall environmental burdens. Effective approaches to reduce the environmental impacts and economic cost of the cement industry in China include promoting cement production technology, decreasing the consumption of limestone and energy and increasing the energy recovery rate, and optimizing the transport distance. In this study, we conducted a life cycle assessment (LCA) of the power sector in 31 provinces in China, with a focus on five major types of power (namely, thermal power, hydropower, solar photovoltaic power (solar power), nuclear power, and wind power). The scope of the life cycle included resources extraction, processing, infrastructure construction, power generation, and transmission. Key results include the following. (1) There are differences in the life cycle global warming potential (GWP) of the five power sources at the national level. In particular, thermal power discharges 19, 66, 123, and 164 times more emissions than solar power, hydropower, wind power, and nuclear power, respectively. (2) There are differences in the GWP of 1 kWh of thermal power between provinces and national average. Eighteen provinces have higher GWP comparing with the national average. (3) There are differences in the life cycle GWP of hybrid power between different provinces. Inner Mongolia and Qinghai have the largest and the smallest GWP for 1 kWh of hybrid electricity supply, respectively. We also analyzed GWP map caused by total power generation in China. This life cycle inventory of different types of power in provinces can provide technical support for power supply management, energy conservation, and emission reduction at both provincial and state levels. The in-use material stocks (MS) of durable household goods provide various functions or services, reflecting society's well-being. However, research on rural households is scarce. This study attempts to bridge this gap by analyzing rural households' long-term in-use stock dynamics using follow-up survey data of more than 2000 rural households in five provinces in China from 2007 to 2018. Results reveal that by 2018, the MS of durable goods in rural China households reached 230.8 t per household, with an average annual growth rate of 5.3%, with residential buildings accounting for the largest proportion. From 2007 to 2015, the MS of buildings and home appliances revealed a trend of rapid growth initially, and then witnessed a slowdown. However, the MS of transportation tools is still growing rapidly. Background: Universal Zero-Markup Drug Policy (UZMDP) mandates no price mark-ups on any drug dispensed by a healthcare institution, and covers the medicines not included in the China’s National Essential Medicine System. Five tertiary hospitals in Beijing, China implemented UZMDP in 2012. Its impacts on these hospitals are unknown. We described the effects of UZMDP on a participating hospital, Jishuitan Hospital, Beijing, China (JST). Methods: This retrospective longitudinal study examined the hospital-level data of JST and city-level data of tertiary hospitals of Beijing, China (BJT) 2009–2015. Rank-sum tests and join-point regression analyses were used to assess absolute changes and differences in trends, respectively. Results: In absolute terms, after the UZDMP implementation, there were increased annual patient-visits and decreased ratios of medicine-to-healthcare-charges (RMOH) in JST outpatient and inpatient services; however, in outpatient service, physician work-days decreased and physician-workload and inflation-adjusted per-visit healthcare charges increased, while the inpatient physician work-days increased and inpatient mortality-rate reduced. Interestingly, the decreasing trend in inpatient mortality-rate was neutralized after UZDMP implementation. Compared with BJT and under influence of UZDMP, JST outpatient and inpatient services both had increasing trends in annual patient-visits (annual percentage changes[APC] = 8.1% and 6.5%, respectively) and decreasing trends in RMOH (APC = -4.3% and -5.4%, respectively), while JST outpatient services had increasing trend in inflation-adjusted per-visit healthcare charges (APC = 3.4%) and JST inpatient service had decreasing trend in inflation-adjusted per-visit medicine-charges (APC = -5.2%). Conclusion: Implementation of UZMDP seems to increase annual patient-visits, reduce RMOH and have different impacts on outpatient and inpatient services in a Chinese urban tertiary hospital. Economic and social costs and benefits are critical factors affecting greenhouse gas abatement activities. Recognizing that energy prices are one of the most important factors influencing abatement costs, this study improved the basic China Energy and Environmental Policy Analysis (CEEPA) model by introducing a current energy pricing mechanism for China. The improved model was applied to generate marginal abatement cost (MAC) curves for China including the current energy pricing mechanism and to analyze MACs for the whole country and main abatement sectors in China under different energy pricing mechanisms. The results show that China MACs are sensitive to pricing mechanisms for electricity and refined oil. Ignoring the current regulation of these prices will lead to MAC underestimation, and price liberalization of these two energy sources could lead to a decrease in China MACs. Under a 50 % emission reduction target, if the electricity price regulation is ignored, the China MAC is underestimated by almost 16 %. Energy pricing reforms will lead to variations in sectoral abatement costs and overall abatement potential, and these impacts are projected to be large in the electricity sector. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play critical roles in the progression of laryngeal cancer (LC). In this study, we aimed to investigate whether miR-149 is associated with the prognosis of patients with LC. A total of 97 laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma patients who underwent tumor resection were included in our follow-up study. In vitro studies was performed in cancer cell line Hep-2 to explore the antitumor role of miR-149 in LC. We found that the expression of miR-149 was significantly lower in tumor tissues, compared with vocal cord polyp tissues (P<0.05). Kaplan-Meier analysis revealed that miR-149 expression status is significantly associated with survival duration (log rank test, P<0.05), and multivariate Cox regression analysis revealed that patients with low miR-149 expression had shorter survival times compared with patients with high miR-149 expression. In vitro studies revealed that the exogenous expression of miRNA-149 inhibits the proliferation of human Hep-2 cells and induces cell apoptosis. Our study suggests that miR-149 expression in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma tissues is critically associated with the prognosis of patients, and the ectopic expression of miR-149 in Hep-2 cells inhibits proliferation and cell cycle progression. Medium-to-long term energy prediction plays a widely-acknowledged role in guiding national energy strategy and policy but could also lead to serious economic and social chaos when poorly executed. A consequent issue may be the effectiveness of these predictions, and sources that errors can be traced back to. The International Energy Agency (IEA) has published its annual World Energy Outlook (WEO) concerning energy demand based on its long term world energy model (WEM) under specific assumptions towards uncertainties such as population, macroeconomy, energy price and technology. Unfortunately, some of its predictions succeeded while others failed. We in this paper attempt to decompose the leading source of these errors quantitatively. Results suggest that GDP acts as the leading source of demand forecasting errors while fuel price comes thereafter, which requires extra attention in forecasting. Gas, among all fuel types witness the most biased projections. Ignoring the catch-up effect of acquiring rapid economic growth in developing countries such as China will lead to huge mistake in predicting global energy demand. China's laptop exports account for more than 70% of global laptop shipments by volume. Laptop is a typical import-and-assembly processing trade product in the machinery and electrical equipment-manufacturing sector and comprises nearly 60% of China's total export value. The laptop sector is also carbon emissions intensive and contributes heavily to China's carbon emissions problem. To study the laptop sector's impact on carbon emissions, we first developed a carbon footprint map for the product across its supply chain, which allowed us to identify the emission contributions of each component and the production process as a whole. Then, using Simapro software and life cycle inventory data derived from the bottom-up life cycle-analysis method, we calculated the carbon footprint of laptop production. The results show that 33.3% of the carbon emissions from the production of export laptops originate from components produced abroad, while 66.7% is derived mainly from components produced domestically. We performed a life-cycle environmental assessment of China's multi-crystalline silicon photovoltaic (PV) modules associated with international trade. The study distinguished domestic and imported raw materials for PV modules within the framework of a life-cycle assessment based on traditional processes. Domestic process data were collected from typical PV companies in China and the literature. Imported raw material data were obtained from international trade databases and life-cycle inventory primary databases. The results indicate that it is necessary to consider the international trade of raw materials in life-cycle environmental impacts of PV modules produced in China when considering the shift of environmental impacts between countries associated with international trade of material and products. Multi-crystalline silicon PV production and PV module packaging are important manufacturing processes within the context of environmental impacts of the manufacture of PV modules in China. This assessment also reveals that production of multi-crystalline silicon PV modules in the country has emitted significant amounts of greenhouses gases (GHG). For example, over 2.21E+07 tons of CO 2 eq were emitted in 2010, of which 94% were from Chinese domestic industries and only 6% from imported raw materials. Regarding the export of PV modules, 82.4% of GHG emissions in China were from imports of PV modules by other countries. This result implies that while the export of Chinese PV modules supplied a large amount of clean energy to the world, it also caused significant environmental impacts in China. The goal of present study was to translate and validate the Social Well-being Scale (SWBS) with a Chinese sample, first developed by (Keyes in Social Psychology Quarterly 61(2):121-140, 1998). We examined the internal consistency, convergent validity and the measurement invariance across gender groups. A total of 630 Chinese individuals were recruited for the present study and they completed the SWBS, Positive Affect and Negative Affect Scales, and Satisfaction With Life Scale. Confirmation factor analysis demonstrated that the original five factor structure-(1) social integration, (2) social acceptance, (3) social actualization, (4) social contribution, and (5) social coherence-of social well-being previously found in Western populations were replicated in this sample. Internal consistency was high in all subscales but self-acceptance subscale and convergent validity with positive affect, negative affect and life satisfaction was found. Evidence of measurement invariance across gender groups was obtained. These findings suggested that the Chinese version of SWBS would be useful for assessing social well-being in China. Aims: To explore the enhancing effect of alcohol consumption on attractiveness ratings, in that few studies on the Beer Goggles effect control the stimuli attractiveness level and researchers have seldom considered extending the effect to stimuli other than faces. Methods: Male and female participants (n = 103) were randomly assigned to alcohol consumption or placebo groups. Both groups were asked to assess the attractiveness of two types of pictures (faces and landscapes) with three levels of attractiveness for each stimulus category (high, moderate and low). Results: We found significant interactions between beverage type and attractiveness level. Attractiveness ratings for moderate- and low-attractiveness faces were significantly higher in the alcohol compared with placebo condition, while there was no significant difference for high-attractiveness stimuli between these two conditions. As for landscapes, only low-attractiveness stimuli were rated significantly higher in the alcohol condition. Conclusion: Whether or not alcohol consumption leads to an increase in attractiveness ratings depends on the initial attractiveness of the stimulus materials. Alcohol consumption tends to affect ratings for stimuli with relatively low attractiveness. Furthermore, this effect is not limited to faces; it extends to other types of stimuli like landscapes. The Chinese government has been exploring various paths to find a direction that better suits China’s national conditions during the past 60 years. Meanwhile, a series of political and economic events and policy transformations have had different effects on the port industry. This article attempts to ascertain how these events and port policies have influenced Chinese port traffic through an empirical study on data covering 1952–2009. The findings suggest that foreign trade has been the prime driver of the throughput of Chinese ports. The increase in the ports’ throughput has enabled an increase in domestic demand and the urgent need for further port investment. Chinese port throughput has been subject to multiple shocks. The Great Leap Forward1is found to have had the largest, but only a short-term impact. China’s accession to the World Trade Organization, however, led to a longer and exclusive effect on ports, with little observed effect on the other variables. The reform of port governance is shown to have had a more lasting positive effect on port throughput than physical investment. An interhemispheric hydrologic seesaw-in which latitudinal migrations of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) produce simultaneous wetting (increased precipitation) in one hemisphere and drying in the other-has been discovered in some tropical and subtropical regions. For instance, Chinese and Brazilian subtropical speleothem (cave formations such as stalactites and stalagmites) records show opposite trends in time series of oxygen isotopes (a proxy for precipitation variability) at millennial to orbital timescales, suggesting that hydrologic cycles were antiphased in the northerly versus southerly subtropics. This tropical to subtropical hydrologic phenomenon is likely to be an initial and important climatic response to orbital forcing. The impacts of such an interhemispheric hydrologic seesaw on higher-latitude regions and the global climate system, however, are unknown. Here we show that the antiphasing seen in the tropical records is also present in both hemispheres of the mid-latitude western Pacific Ocean. Our results are based on a new 550,000-year record of the growth frequency of speleothems from the Korean peninsula, which we compare to Southern Hemisphere equivalents. The Korean data are discontinuous and derived from 24 separate speleothems, but still allow the identification of periods of peak speleothem growth and, thus, precipitation. The clear hemispheric antiphasing indicates that the sphere of influence of the interhemispheric hydrologic seesaw over the past 550,000 years extended at least to the mid-latitudes, such as northeast Asia, and that orbital-timescale ITCZ shifts can have serious effects on temperate climate systems. Furthermore, our result implies that insolation-driven ITCZ dynamics may provoke water vapour and vegetation feedbacks in northern mid-latitude regions and could have regulated global climate conditions throughout the late Quaternary ice age cycles. The first complete chloroplast genome (cp) of Sinosenecio jishouensis D.G. Zhang, Ying Liu & Q. E. Yang (Asteraceae) was sequenced and assembled in this study. The cp genome was 151,257 bp in length, including a large single-copy(LSC) region of 83,373 bp, a small single-copy (SSC) region of 18,178 bp, and a pair of inverted repeat (IR) regions of 24,853 bp each. These sequences encoded 134 genes, including 89 protein-coding genes, 37 tRNA genes, and 8 rRNA genes. Temperature and precipitation are considered to be the most important indicators affecting the green-up date. Sensitivity of the green-up date to temperature and precipitation is considered to be one of the key indicators to characterize the response of terrestrial ecosystems to climate change. We selected the main grassland types for analysis, including temperate steppe, temperate meadow steppe, upland meadow, and lowland meadow. This study investigates the variation in key meteorological indicators (daily maximum temperature (Tmax), daily minimum temperature (Tmin), and precipitation) between 2001 and 2018. We then examined the partial correlation and sensitivity of green-up date (GUD) to Tmax, Tmin, and precipitation. Our analysis indicated that the average GUD across the whole area was DOY 113. The mean GUD trend was −3.1 days/decade and the 25% region advanced significantly. Tmax and Tmin mainly showed a decreasing trend in winter (p > 0.05). In spring, Tmax mainly showed an increasing trend (p > 0.05) and Tmin a decreasing trend (p > 0.05). Precipitation showed no significant (p > 0.05) change trend and the trend range was ±10 mm/decade. For temperate steppe, the increase in Tmin in March promotes green-up (27.3%, the proportion of significant pixels), with a sensitivity of −0.17 days/°C. In addition, precipitation in April also promotes green-up (21.7%), with a sensitivity of −0.32 days/mm. The GUDs of temperate meadow steppe (73.9%), lowland meadow (65.9%), and upland meadow (22.1%) were mainly affected by Tmin in March, with sensitivities of −0.15 days/°C, −0.13 days/°C, and −0.14 days/°C, respectively. The results of this study reveal the response of vegetation to climate warming and contribute to improving the prediction of ecological changes as temperatures increase in the future. Background To date, no one-phase survey of childhood depression has been performed in China that involves both urban and rural community children. The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence, correlates, and mental health service utilization of depressive disorders (DDs) in a community-based sample of 6-14-year-old children in south-central China. Methods Children (3,582) were approached through multistage sampling and interviewed using a Chinese version of the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview for Children and Adolescents 5.0, which is a structured interview that is administered by trained psychiatrists to obtain information from children and their guardians. Results The overall prevalence of all current DDs was found to be 2.8% (95%CI: 1.5-3.9). The risk factors for depression included being 9-14-year old, not attending school, having unmarried parents, living in a nonnuclear family (single parent or parentless family), being taken care of by people other than two parents (single parent, grandparent(s), other relatives, or others) during the past year, and not being breastfed prior to 1 year of age. Only 5.8% of the depressed children had received professional help prior to the interview. Conclusions The prevalence of DDs among children in this part of China is relatively high compared with most figures reported in other countries. Depression in this age group has been a major public health concern, but it is often underrecognized. Abstract: A 9.35-m long sediment core, CK2, that covers the time span between 31.98 and 9.14 kilo annum before present (ka BP) at the Luobei Depression (Lop Nur, Eastern Xinjiang, Northwest China) was studied by pollen analysis. The pollen assemblages of coniferous trees, temperate deciduous trees, herbs, and shrubs can be divided into the following four stages: Zone I (31.98ka BP to 19.26ka BP) corresponds to a steppe or desert steppe landscape, which conforms to the cold-wet climatic environment of the Last Glacial Maximum; Zone II (19.26ka BP to 13.67ka BP) corresponds to a steppe–desert or desert landscape, which conforms to the warm-arid climatic environment of the transient interglacial period; Zones III (13.67ka BP to 12.73ka BP) and IV (12.73ka BP to 9.14ka BP) are similar to Zones I and II, respectively, corresponding to the late last glacial and post last glacial, i.e., Early Holocene, respectively. The climatic environment in Lop Nur was increasingly getting drier based on Artemisia/Chenopodiaceae ratios of ≤0.5 in Subzones IVa and IVc. The Heinrich cold events (H3, H2, H1, and YD) and the Dansgaard–Oeschger warm events (IS4, IS3, IS2, IS1) with millennial-scale changes appearing at high latitudes can also be found in the pollen records of Lop Nur. Results show that the climate characteristics of the Lop Nur region are mainly controlled by the westerly belt, as displayed in mainly cold-wet or warm-arid synchronization. These climate characteristics differ from those of the monsoon area, which are mainly displayed in cold-arid and warm-wet synchronization but also restricted by the atmospheric circulation at high latitudes. The purpose of the study was to examine grade-level differences in coping behaviors among adolescents using a probabilistic multidimensional scaling (MDS) single-ideal-point model. Objective. To investigate the correlation between presbycusis and kidney deficiency as defined by traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and its material basis from the perspective of metabolism. Methods. Pure-tone audiometry was used to test auditory function. A kidney deficiency symptoms coring table was used to measure the kidney deficiency accumulated scores of the research subjects. Gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) was used to measure the metabolites in the urine samples from 11 presbycusis patients and 9 elderly people with normal hearing. Results. Hearing loss in the elderly was positively correlated with kidney deficiency score in TCM. There were significant differences in urine metabolite profile between the presbycusis patients and the controls. A total of 23 differentially expressed metabolites were found. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analysis showed that these metabolites were related to glutathione metabolism, amino acid metabolism, glucose metabolism, the N-methyl-D-aspartic acid (NMDA) receptor pathway, and the γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptor pathway. Conclusion. Glutathione metabolism, amino acid metabolism, glucose metabolism, NMDA receptors, and GABA receptors may be related to the pathogenesis of presbycusis and may be the material basis underlying the correlation between presbycusis and kidney deficiency in TCM. Abstract: Water wall design is a key issue for supercritical Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) boiler. On account of the good heat transfer performance, rifled tube is applied in the water wall design of a 600MW supercritical CFB boiler in China. In order to investigate the heat transfer and frictional characteristics of the rifled tube with vertical upward flow, an in-depth experiment was conducted in the range of pressure from 12 to 30MPa, mass flux from 230 to 1200kg/(m2 s), and inner wall heat flux from 130 to 720kW/m2. The wall temperature distribution and pressure drop in the rifled tube were obtained in the experiment. The normal, enhanced and deteriorated heat transfer characteristics were also captured. In this paper, the effects of pressure, inner wall heat flux and mass flux on heat transfer characteristics are analyzed, the heat transfer mechanism and the frictional resistance performance are discussed, and the corresponding empirical correlations are presented. The experimental results show that the rifled tube can effectively prevent the occurrence of Departure from Nucleate Boiling (DNB) and keep the tube wall temperature in a permissible range under the operating condition of supercritical CFB boiler. Abstract: In this paper we report zircon U–Pb age, chemical compositions of rock-forming minerals, and whole-rock elemental and Sr–Nd isotopic data for the No. II mafic-ultramafic intrusive complex (N2MC) in the Quruqtagh area at the northeastern margin of the Tarim Block, northwestern China to evaluate its petrogenesis and tectonic significance. The N2MC with an exposure area of ca. 12km2 has a funnel-shaped cross-section and intruded the Paleoproterozoic basement. U–Pb zircon dating gives a crystallization age of 760±6Ma. Rock types of the N2MC include lherzolite, pyroxenite, gabbro and minor diorite. Major elements geochemistry of these rocks exhibits a tholeiitic trend with a wide range of SiO2 contents (38.8–60wt.%). On the other hand, they are systematically enriched in LILE, LREE and depleted in HFSE and HREE, thus leading to low HFSE/LREE ratios (e.g., Nb/La≈0.3). Isotopically, the studied rocks are characterized by negative whole-rock εNd(t) values (−7.6 to −2.8) and variable high (87Sr/86Sr) i (0.7095–0.7059). These features, together with chemical compositions of the rock-forming minerals and the presence of the primary phlogopite and hornblende, suggest that N2MC was likely formed via crystal fractionation/cumulation (with negligible crustal contamination) of a tholeiitic magma derived from a metasomatized subcontinental lithosphere mantle (SCLM) in an extensional environment. The enrichment of the mantle source could be ascribed to the metasomatism by subducted-slab-released fluids before partial melting. Overall, reported Neoproterozoic igneous rocks throughout the Tarim Block constitute two major phases of Neoproterozoic igneous activities, i.e., ca. 825–800Ma and ca. 780–745Ma, respectively. Similar to that of many other Rodinian continents, this feature is interpreted to be related to the two phases of Neoproterozoic mantle plume activity under the Rodinia. Furthermore, there exist two types of mafic-ultramafic complex at Quruqtagh, i.e., the ca. 820Ma carbonatite-bearing and the ca. 760Ma tholeiitic, which could reflect the presence of two different mantle sources. We focus on the unique role of offshore OEM cooperation as a learning opportunity for local suppliers in the emerging economies. In particular, we conceptually argue and empirically confirm the links between learning intent, capability enhancement, governance mode, and overall innovativeness from the perspective of local suppliers in offshore OEM cooperation in China as well as the influence of local business culture within these links. We address two issues: (1) offshore OEM cooperation can be a unique opportunity for local suppliers with strong intent to learn from foreign buyers for capability enhancement and (2) the moderating effects of trust and contact as two distinctive governance modes. Addressing the two issues, we make two specific contributions to the research on inter-firm cooperation, both of which derive from the often-neglected theoretical lens of transaction value. Our general contribution lies in the extension of the transaction value perspective by specifying its dual tenets of inter-firm co-specialization and shared-trust as the central theme of inter-firm cooperation to complement the transaction cost economics and also contextualize the research on inter-firm cooperation in terms of different partners’ perspectives as well as different governance modes. Load model is one of the most important elements in power system simulation and control. Based on more than 20 years of practice using load characteristic recorders in the measurement-based load modeling, this paper proposes the Expectation Composite Load Model to predict unseen data. The methods for load bus classification and parameter identification are also provided. The generalization capability of the proposed load modeling is validated by the measured load dynamics and system dynamics during two three-phase short circuit tests of the NE power grid in China. In order to evaluate the measurement-based load model, the Probabilistic Collocation Method (PCM) is applied to quantitatively analyze uncertainties of the simulation responses raised by the parameters. The Qilian Mountains (QLM) are an important ecological barrier in western China. High-precision land cover data products are the basic data for accurately detecting and evaluating the ecological service functions of the QLM. In order to study the land cover in the QLM and performance of different remote sensing classification algorithms for land cover mapping based on the Google Earth Engine (GEE) cloud platform, the higher spatial resolution remote sensing images of Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2; digital elevation data; and three remote sensing classification algorithms, including the support vector machine (SVM), the classification regression tree (CART), and the random forest (RF) algorithms, were used to perform supervised classification of Sentinel-2 images of the QLM. Furthermore, the results obtained from the classification process were compared and analyzed by using different remote sensing classification algorithms and feature-variable combinations. The results indicated that: (1) the accuracy of the classification results acquired by using different remote sensing classification algorithms were different, and the RF had the highest classification accuracy, followed by the CART and the SVM; (2) the different feature variable combinations had different effects on the overall accuracy (OA) of the classification results and the performance of the identification and classification of the different land cover types; and (3) compared with the existing land cover products for the QLM, the land cover maps obtained in this study had a higher spatial resolution and overall accuracy. A 10.35-m-long sediment core from the Luobei depression in Lop-Nur, Xinjiang, Northwest China, provides detailed information about environmental changes during the Late Pleistocene. The samples taken every 5 cm of the core were analyzed for 10 environmental proxies, including magnetic susceptibility, granularity, chroma, carbonate and loss on ignition (LOI), and pH value. The chronology data are provided by the uranium/thorium disequilibrium dates. The sediments of the section were deposited during the last 32000 years. The results of analysis of 10 proxies were examined using multivariate statistical analysis, and the principal components were calculated. According to the results, the Late Pleistocene sequence contains four climatic and environmental stages appearing in the cycles of cold-wet and warm-dry changes. During 10-9 ka BP, it was the earliest warm episode in the Holocene. Environmental changes in this district were restricted by global change, as suggested by the analysis of glacial-interglacial cycles. But it was different from the mutative trend of a monsoon region in East China because of its own characteristics, which was the situation of cold-wet and warm-dry climate-environment change.
