Simple Summary: Infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV) is a potent immunosuppressive, persistent pathogen that can thrive in a range of environmental conditions and withstand even potent disinfectants. The common circulating pathotypes of IBDV in Egypt are classical virulent, attenuated, very virulent IBDV, and novel variant (nVarIBDV). The current study describes the incidence of nVarIBDV in 18 Egyptian chicken flocks although they were vaccinated against IBD. Partial sequence analysis of viral protein 2 (VP2) in two obtained isolates identified them as nVarIBDV (genotype A2d) exhibiting 100% identity to SD-2020 and 99.5–98.1% similarity to ZD-2018-1, QZ, GX and SG19 strains. Similarity to USA variant strains was 95.5–92.6%. Moreover, the similarities in the aa of the VP2 hypervariable region of both isolates to vaccine strains were 86–90.4%. Histopathological examination of both the bursa of Fabricius and spleen collected from diseased chickens in flock no. 18 revealed severe atrophy. In conclusion, this study identified the nVarIBDV genotype which is identical to the nVarIBDV circulating in China. Further studies are required to investigate the epidemiological situation of this novel genotype across the country, and to assess various vaccine protections against nVarIBDV. Additionally, it is crucial to incorporate nVarIBDV into the inactivated vaccines administered to breeder chickens prior to egg production to ensure complete protective and specific maternal immunity in their offspring during their first three weeks of life. After an extended period of detecting classical virulent, attenuated, and very virulent IBDV, a novel variant (nVarIBDV) was confirmed in Egypt in this study in 18, IBD vaccinated, chicken flocks aged 19–49 days. Partial sequence of viral protein 2 (VP2) [219 aa, 147–366, resembling 657 bp] of two obtained isolates (nos. 3 and 4) revealed nVarIBDV (genotype A2d) and OR682618 and OR682619 GenBank accession numbers were obtained. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that both nVarIBDV isolates were closely related to nVarIBDV strains (A2d) circulating in China, exhibiting 100% identity to SD-2020 and 99.5–98.1% similarity to ZD-2018-1, QZ, GX and SG19 strains, respectively. Similarity to USA variant strains, belonging to genotypes A2b (9109), A2c (GLS) and A2a (variant E), respectively, was 95.5–92.6%. Also, the VP2 hypervariable region in those two, A2d, isolates revealed greater similarities to Faragher 52/70 (Vaxxitek®) at 90.4% and to an Indian strain (Ventri-Plus®) and V217 (Xtreme®) at 89.7% and 86–88.9% in other vaccines. Histopathological examination of both the bursa of Fabricius and spleen collected from diseased chickens in flock no. 18 revealed severe atrophy. In conclusion, further studies are required to investigate the epidemiological situation of this novel genotype across the country, and to assess various vaccine protections against nVarIBDV. Purpose: This study aims to explore how earnings management techniques are affected by corporate financial debt risk (FDR), internal control (IC) effectiveness and CEO education. Design/methodology/approach: The study uses a sample from listed firms in China from 2010 to 2017, comprising different industries, including agriculture, forestry, livestock farming and fishing; mining; manufacturing; electric power, gas and water production and supply; construction; transport and storage; information technology; the real estate industry; social services; and communication and cultural. The regression analysis is used to test the hypotheses. The two-stage least squares technique is used to check for endogeneity issues. Findings: The study finds that firms are less likely to manage real earnings when they have more robust IC and FDR. Likewise, companies with weak ICs are more likely to manipulate real earnings. Besides, the study finds an influence of CEO education on the relationship between IC, FDR and real earnings management (REM). These results can be applied to the sectors in the sample covered by the research, and the authors do not overlook the energy industry sector for the importance of its role in the economy. Research limitations/implications: There are some limitations for the researcher when performing any research, and this study is no exception. Researchers are urged to take these circumstances into consideration when generalizing or comparing the results because the methods used to calculate the measurement variables in each study may differ somewhat from those used in other research. In addition, expanding the current research design to incorporate additional nations may be an area of interest for future research and could aid in evaluating the effects of nation-specific elements (such as inflation, culture, legal systems and political considerations) on the usefulness of IC and decreasing FDR. Second, the current study focuses on the impact of IC and FDR on REM; this paper does not dissect the "black box" of IC and consider how each element affects earnings management. Future research may need to focus specifically on how effective IC would affect earnings management and precisely what IC mechanisms would discourage the management of earnings. Practical implications: Helping companies listed in China to make decisions and improve investors' vision of the results of real companies' businesses, as well as helping management to avoid falling into debt risk and the consequent effects and manipulation of earnings. Originality/value: By highlighting the significance of IC and debt risk in enhancing information quality in China, the results contribute to the body of work examining the relationship between IC, FDR and REM. Rice domestication has dramatically improved its agronomic traits, albeit with unavoidable significantly reduced genetic diversity. Dongxiang common wild rice, the wild rice species distributed in northernmost China, exhibits excellent resistance against stress and diseases and provides a rich genetic resource for rice breeding. Most of the studies focus on the function of the plant genes, often disregarding the role of the root microbes associated with the plants. In this work, we isolated a Burkholderia strain from the root of Dongxiang wild rice, which we identified as Burkholderia cepacia BRDJ, based on a phylogenetic analysis. This strain promoted the rice growth under greenhouse conditions. The grain yield was higher in a rice line containing a small genomic fragment derived from the Dongxiang wild rice, compared to the indica rice cultivar Zhongzao 35. This new strain also increased the plant biomass under limiting nitrogen conditions. Interestingly, this strain had a differential effect on indica and japonica rice varieties under full nitrogen supply conditions. By genome sequencing and comparison with another two B. cepacia strains, we observed enriched genes related with nitrogen fixation and phytohormone and volatiles biosynthesis that may account for the growth-promoting effects of the BRDJ. The extraction of photovoltaic (PV) module parameters is regarded as a critical topic for assessing the performance of PV energy systems. The Supply-Demand-Based Optimization Algorithm (SDOA) is employed in this work to extract the unknown parameters of PV models. The SDOA mimics the stability and instability modes between the supply and the demand one in order that the quantity and price of commodities converge to the equilibrium point after a specified number of repetitions. It is frequently used to handle complicated nonlinear problems because of its ease of implementation and powerful optimization capabilities. The Triple-Diode Model (TDM) is extensively adopted in PV module mathematical models. The optimal nine TDM parameters are determined for the PVM 752GaAs PV thin film cell, whereas other solar irradiation and temperature values are used for the SQ 150 and MSX 60 modules. When used on the TDM model, the SDOA was used to verify the fitness values and standard deviation errors. Furthermore, the obtained result achieved by SDOA are contrasted with new techniques established in 2020 which are Backtracking Search Algorithm (BSA), Grey Wolf Optimizer (GWO), Bernstein-Levy Search Differential Evolution Algorithm (BSDE), Crow search Optimizer (CSO), and Manta Ray Foraging Optimizer (MRFO). For accurate and consistent results, thirty runs of the algorithm are executed for the modules and the standard deviations of fitness values are less than 1 × 10–18 for the triple diode model. In addition to this, a practical PV power plant system that lie in the Guizhou Power Grid of China is used to validate the efficiency of SDOA compared to other recent algorithms. This study investigates the impact of renewable and non-renewable energy sources on carbon emissions in the context of China's 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025). The plan emphasises a "Dual-control" strategy of simultaneously setting energy consumption limits and reducing energy intensity for GDP (gross domestic product) in order to meet the targets of the five-year plan. Using a comprehensive dataset of Chinese energy and macroeconomic information spanning from 1990 to 2022, we conduct a Granger causality analysis to explore the relationship between energy sources and the level of air pollution. Our findings reveal a unidirectional link, wherein renewable energy contributes to a reduction in air pollution, while non-renewable energy sources lead to an increase. Despite the government's investment in renewable energy, our results show that China's economy remains heavily reliant on traditional energy sources (e.g., fossil fuels). This research is the first systematic examination of the interplay between energy usage and carbon emissions in the Chinese context. To assess ecological and health risks connected with heavy metal contamination in the Gulf of Suez, Red Sea seawater during winter 2021. The selected heavy metals were detected using the "AAS" Technique. The results presented that; the average metal concentrations ranged between (0.57, 1.47, 0.76, 5.44, 0.95, 18.79, and 1.90 μg/l) for Cd, Pb, Zn, Mn, Fe, Cu, and Ni along the investigated area. Pollution Index for overall Gulf sectors <1, indicating a slightly and moderately affected region. Metal Index for the Gulf is >1, representing the existence of heavy metal pollution, which is alarming in this area. (HPI) Heavy metal pollution index <100 indicates low contamination of heavy metal "and is apposite for consumption. The Gulf's ecological risk index (Eri) mostly fell under the low-ecological risk. The risk health estimation revealed that CDI values for carcinogenic were (10 -5 to10 -7 ), (10 -6 to10 -8 ), and (10 -9 to10 -11 ) for ingestion, dermal, and inhalation, respectively. Ingestion for children is twice as high as the proportions documented for adults. At the same time, THQ values for non-carcinogenic ingestion, dermal, and inhalation were (10 -5 to 10 -8 ), (10 -4 to 10 -5 ), and (10 -10 to 10 -12 ), respectively. Also, the total hazard quotient (THQ ing. + THQ inh. ) values were <1 acceptable limit, indicating no non-carcinogenic risk to the residents through dermal adsorption and oral water intake. The ingestion pathway was the main pathway for total risk. Interior settled dust is one of the greatest threats of potentially toxic metal(oid)s (PTMs) exposure to the children, especially in the school environment. Therefore, it is more worthy of having in-depth knowledge of compositional characteristics of school dust. Forty schools were selected of Lahore city for dust sampling. The school dust was analyzed to determine the PTMs (As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Ge, Mo, Ni, Pb, Sb, Sn, Sr, V, and Zn) concentrations using ICP-MS. The morphological characteristics, PTMs speciation, and mineralogy of school dust were examined using SEM with EDS, XPS, and XRD, respectively. Moreover, the geo-accumulation index (I geo ), potential ecological risk index (PERI), and multivariate statistical analysis were employed to assess the pollution levels, ecological risk, and source identification of PTMs, respectively. The I geo indicated a heavily-extreme pollution level of Cd (I geo  = 4.92), moderate-heavy pollution of Zn (I geo  = 3.22), and Pb (I geo  = 2.78), and slight-moderate pollution of Cr (I geo  = 1.62), and Cu (I geo  = 1.53). The ecological risk has been found extremely high for Cd and moderately high for Pb and As, while potential ecological risk found extremely high posed by cumulatively all selected PTMs. Multivariate statistical analysis showed that sources of PTMs comprise of natural processes as well as several anthropogenic processes like vehicular emissions, agricultural and industrial activities. The SEM, XRD, and XPS analyses demonstrated the presence of airborne particles and PTMs containing minerals with several toxic chemical species in school dust. Background: Drowning is a leading cause of injury-related mortality globally. Unintentional drowning (International Classification of Diseases (ICD) 10 codes W65-74 and ICD9 E910) is one of the 30 mutually exclusive and collectively exhaustive causes of injury-related mortality in the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) study. This study's objective is to describe unintentional drowning using GBD estimates from 1990 to 2017., Methods: Unintentional drowning from GBD 2017 was estimated for cause-specific mortality and years of life lost (YLLs), age, sex, country, region, Socio-demographic Index (SDI) quintile, and trends from 1990 to 2017. GBD 2017 used standard GBD methods for estimating mortality from drowning., Results: Globally, unintentional drowning mortality decreased by 44.5% between 1990 and 2017, from 531 956 (uncertainty interval (UI): 484 107 to 572 854) to 295 210 (284 493 to 306 187) deaths. Global age-standardised mortality rates decreased 57.4%, from 9.3 (8.5 to 10.0) in 1990 to 4.0 (3.8 to 4.1) per 100 000 per annum in 2017. Unintentional drowning-associated mortality was generally higher in children, males and in low-SDI to middle-SDI countries. China, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh accounted for 51.2% of all drowning deaths in 2017. Oceania was the region with the highest rate of age-standardised YLLs in 2017, with 45 434 (40 850 to 50 539) YLLs per 100 000 across both sexes., Conclusions: There has been a decline in global drowning rates. This study shows that the decline was not consistent across countries. We describe the seroprevalence of severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus (SFTSV) and the association of antibody occurrence with location, sex, and age among the human population in Pakistan. Our results indicate substantial activity of SFTSV and SFTSV-related viruses in this country.

Biological fouling has caused a lot of concern in marine industries due to the attachment of microorganisms on marine surfaces. Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) have a great potential to inhibit and hold strong toxicity against microorganisms on artificial surfaces immersed in seawater. In this study, AgNPs are synthesized using extract of clove buds (CE) plant as a reducing and stabilizing agent by biological synthesis method. The obtained CE-AgNPs product was characterized by using different techniques. Ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis) results confirmed the formation of CE-AgNPs with its surface plasmon resonance peak range. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) study showed the formation of functional groups responsible for the reduction of Ag + into Ag o . X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) results revealed face-centered cubic (fcc) silver crystals having four different diffraction peaks at 38.08, 44.21, 64.42 and 77.32 with corresponding lattice plane value recorded at (111), (200), (220) and (311), respectively. Structural characterization using scanning electron microscopy equipped with energy dispersive X-Ray Analyzer (SEM-EDX), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) also confirmed the successful formation of CE-AgNPs with fcc structure. The histogram of particle size distribution through TEM image showed an average size of 9.42 nm of the synthesized product. Finally, the antibacterial and antidiatom activity of the synthesized product was analyzed. The CE-AgNPs synthesized using CE possesses good inhibitory activity against the marine bacterium community and Nitzschia closterium diatom. These results indicate that CE-AgNPs can be used as a novel material for antibacterial and antidiatoms means to inhibit the biofouling on marine surfaces., (Copyright © 2020 Elsevier B.V.
