The quality of virgin olive oil is closely related to the quality of olive fruits. The primary aim of the present work was to assess the olive fruit quality of five major olive cultivars (Frantoio, Leccino, Ezhi-8, Picholine, and Coratina) cultivated in Longnan, which is an emerging region for olive plantation in China. Measurement and gravimetric methods were used to study the biological properties of olive fruits, while the biochemical constituents were analysed by colorimetry. The results of morphological and biochemical analyses showed that the olive fruits of the five cultivars had excellent quality with relatively high oil contents and bioactive components (flavonoids and phenolic compounds). The oil contents in freeze-dried sarcocarp ranged from 49.25 to 71.11%. The shape parameters, biological characteristics, and bioactive components of olive fruits varied with genetic characteristics of cultivar, ripeness, and physic- ochemical factors of soil. There was a certain negative correlation between total carbohydrate and oil content in sarcocarp, as well as between total polyphenol content and polyphenol oxidase activity. The principal component analysis (PCA) results showed that the evaluation indexes of the olive fruit quality mainly include the biological characteristic parameters (fruit size and weight, sarcocarp, and oil content) and the contents of bioactive components (saccharides, polyphenols, and flavonoids). Furthermore, the soil nutrients and physicochemical properties also affected the fruit quality. Our findings suggest that the olive fruit produced in Longnan has excellent production performance, and the fruit quality is closely correlated with the genotype of olive cultivar, growing environment, and soil conditions. Lifespan of fine root plays an important role in regulating carbon (C) cycling in terrestrial ecosystems. Determination of root lifespan and elucidation of its regulatory mechanism in different plant communities are essential for accurate prediction of C cycling from ecosystem to regional scales. There are three major types of grasslands in the temperate steppes of Inner Mongolia, each dominated by a different species of common grass: Stipa krylovi, Stipa grandis, and Stipa breviflora. There have been no studies to compare the root dynamics among the three types of grasslands. In the present study, we determined root lifespan of the three grasslands using the rhizotron technique. We found that root lifespan differed substantially among the three major types of grasslands within the temperate steppes of Inner Mongolia, such that root lifespan of S. breviflora > S. grandis > S. krylovii grasslands. Root lifespan across the three types of grasslands displayed a similar temporal pattern, such that root lifespan followed the order of autumn-born roots > summer-born roots > spring-born roots. The spatial and temporal differences in root lifespan across the three types of grasslands were mainly related to contents of soluble sugars in roots of the dominant species and BNPP/ANPP ratio of the communities. Background and purpose A recent genome-wide association study identified two genetic variants (rs12425791 and rs11833579) on chromosome 12p13 that confer risk of ischaemic stroke. The purpose of this study was to examine whether these two polymorphisms are associated with stroke onset and prognosis in a Chinese population. Methods rs12425791 and rs11833579 were genotyped using the improved multiple ligase detection reaction in 913 patients with ischaemic stroke. Analyses of genotype association with onset and prognosis outcomes were evaluated by the Kaplan-Meier method, the log-rank test and Cox proportional hazards models. Results rs12425791 and rs11833579 were not associated with age of stroke onset ( P = 0.786 and 0.340, respectively). However, these two polymorphisms were significantly associated with risk of stroke recurrence, especially for the large-artery atherosclerosis ( LAA) subtype, in recessive models [hazard ratio ( HR) 2.52; 95% confidence interval ( CI) 1.04-6.12 for rs12425791; HR 2.13; 95% CI 1.03-4.40 for rs11833579]. The combined genotype of these two single-nucleotide polymorphisms showed a locus-dosage effect on recurrence of LAA subtype and was an independent prognostic factor for LAA subtype in the final multivariate Cox regression model. Conclusions These findings indicated that rs12425791 and rs11833579 on chromosome 12p13 may be useful biomarkers for predicting the prognosis of patients with the LAA subtype of ischaemic stroke. The article discusses a study on growth biology of Cashmere goat found in the Buyun Mountains of the Liaotung Peninsula in China. It informs that a full-length open reading frame of cDNA-encoding prolactin protein in Liaoning Cashmere goats was isolated and its expression pattern in skin tissue at the stages of hair follicle cycling was examined for the study. The study result suggests that pituitary gland may be the major contributor of circulating prolactin in Cashmere goat.

Nitrogen (N) applications can have a significant effect on soil N availability. The effect of 3 years of N fertilization on soil net N mineralization during the growing season (May-September) was studied in 2005 and 2006 in grassland of northern China. The experimental design was a randomized complete block with four replications of five rates of N addition as urea (0, 2, 4, 8 and 16 g N m−2 year−1). Results indicated that net N mineralization rate varied seasonally and between years, ranging from −0.04 to 0.52 μg g−1 d−1 in 2005 and from −0.09 to 0.39 μg g−1 d−1 in 2006. Mean N mineralization and nitrification rates were highest in July, in 2005 and 2006, whereas highest ammonification rates occurred in September. Rainfall was significantly correlated with net nitrification. In comparison with the untreated control, N mineralization increased sharply when N fertilization increased from 2 to 8 g N m−2 year−1. Mobile soil NO3− accumulated late in the growing season for the 16 g N m−2 year−1 treatment, suggesting the potential for NO3 and associated cation leaching. These results suggest that N fertilization of 8 g N m−2 year−1 (80 kg N ha−1) is suitable for the management of grassland ecosystems of Inner Mongolia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Effects of soil freezing on nitrogen (N) mineralization have been the subject of increased attention in the ecological literature, though fewer studies have examined N mineralization responses to successive mild freezing, severe freezing and cyclic freeze-thaw events. Even less is known about relationships of responses to soil N status. This study measured soil N mineralization and nitrification in the field along an experimental N gradient in a grassland of northern China during the dormant season (October 2005-April 2006), a period in which freezing naturally occurs. Net N mineralization exhibited great temporal variability, with nitrification being the predominant N transformation process. Soil microbial biomass C and N and extractable NH4 + pools declined by 40, 52, and 56%, respectively, in April 2006, compared with their initial concentrations in October 2005; soil NO3- pools increased by 84%. Temporal patterns of N mineralization were correlated with soil microbial biomass C and N. N mineralization and nitrification increased linearly with added N. Microbial biomass C in treated soils increased by 10% relative to controls, whereas microbial N declined by 9%. Results further suggest that freezing events greatly alter soil N dynamics in the dormant season at this site, with considerable available N accumulating during this period. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A pair of dual-purpose superconducting quadrupole magnets and a superconducting detector solenoid were fabricated and installed in Beijing Electron-Positron Collider Upgrade (BEPCII). The magnets are symmetrically inserted into the BESIII detector with respect to the interaction point. They are identical, iron-free, non-collared, multi-layered and active shielded superconducting magnets for the micro-beta focusing at the interaction region of the collider rings. Each quadrupole magnet is composed of seven coils at different operating currents wound layer by layer on a common cylindrical support. The magnet has an overall effective length of 0.96 m and provides a good field aperture of 65 mm in diameter. They are cooled by supercritical helium in order to eliminate the flow instabilities in constrained cooling channels. The BESIII superconducting solenoid magnet was designed to provide an axial magnetic field of about 1.0 T over the' tracking volume and to meet the requirement of particle momentum resolution to particle detectors. A single layer of coil, in-direct cooling by forced two-phase helium, high purity aluminum based stabilizer and NbTi/Cu superconductor is adopted for the solenoid. The solenoid is 3.4 m in diameter and 3.89 m in length. This paper presents the design of the superconducting magnets in the BEPCII as well as their cryomodules. A PCR-single strand conformation polymorphism protocol has been developed for rapid genotyping of the yak g-casein gene. A total of 307 yaks from the Tianzhu White, Jiulong, Maiwa, and Datong breeds in China were genotyped at the κ-casein locus using the protocol developed in the present study. A polymorphism of κ-casein gene exon 4 has been identified in Tianzhu White breed by evaluating genomic DNA. The polymorphic site consists of a single nucleotide substitution G→C at position 362 of the exon 4, resulting in an AA substitution from Arg to Pro at position 121 of the AA sequence and in 2 alleles named, respectively, G and C based on nucleotide 362. The occurrence of allele C in the Tianzhu White breed was high with an allele frequency of 0.15. However, allele C appears to be absent in the yaks from Jiulong, Maiwa, and Datong breeds. Background: Recently, there has been increasing interest in the exploration of the association between the hepatitis E virus ( HEV ) infection and malignancies; however, epidemiological data for HEV infection among women with a gynecological tumors (GT) are limited. Herein, we investigated the correlation between HEV and GT in Chinese women., Methods: We recruited 452 women diagnosed with a primary GT and 452 healthy volunteers to investigate the possible routes and risk factors for HEV infection. The serum antibody levels of anti- HEV IgG and IgM were measured by enzyme-linked immunoassays once a year., Results: After a median follow-up time of 5.4 years (range 4 to 7 years), the overall detection rate of anti- HEV antibodies in patients with GT and in controls were 69/452 (15.27%) and 23/452 (5.09%) ( P = 0.001), respectively. The seroprevalence of anti- HEV IgG antibodies was significant higher in patients with GT (15.27%) than in healthy controls (5.09%) ( P = 0.001). Moreover, 13 (2.88%) patients with GT were positive for IgM antibodies, while only 4 (0.88%) healthy controls tested positive for anti- HEV IgM antibodies ( P = 0.028). The highest prevalence of HEV antibodies were detected in patients with ovarian borderline tumors (40%), followed by patients with ovarian cancer (20.54%) and endometrial cancer (18.46%). Multivariable analysis revealed that contact with dogs (OR, 1.88; 95% CI [1.10-3.22]; P = 0.015) and a history of anti-tumor chemotherapy (OR, 1.85; 95% CI [1.07-3.20]; P = 0.028) were independent risk factors for HEV infection., Conclusion: Overall, the present study showed that patients with GT are more susceptible to HEV infection in Eastern China, particularly in patients with ovarian borderline tumors. Objective: This study aims to evaluate the utility of polygenic risk scores (PRS) in women with early menopause (EM) and to investigate the clinical characteristics and risk factors associated with EM based on genetic risk., Study Design: Genotyping data and clinical data from women with EM and women with normal age of menopause retrieved from UK Biobank were used for early menopause risk prediction model establishment. Subsequently, 99 women diagnosed with EM and 1027 control women underwent PGT-M were recruited for model validation from across eight hospitals in China. According to PRS percentiles, these participants were further classified into high risk and intermediate risk groups. Characteristics among women at different risk levels were compared, and risk factors with early menopause were also statistical analyzed., Main Outcome Measures: The proportion of women at high risk in EM and control groups; Characteristics with significant difference among women at different risk levels; risk factors associated with EM., Results: The proportion of high-risk women in the EM group was significantly higher than that in control women underwent PGT-M (Group PGT-M) (OR = 3.78), and that in women with normal age menopause from UK Biobank (Group UKB) (OR = 5.11). Notably, the women with high risk of EM exhibited distinct characteristics compared to women with the intermediate-risk of EM, and identified several risk factors associated with EM., Conclusions: We established a PRS model to serves as a valuable instrument for EM risk prediction. The exploratory analysis revealed that women with high risk of EM exhibited a higher height, suggesting EM related genetic loci may also influence growth and development level. Background: Older adults with heart disease often experience higher rates of comorbid anxiety and depression. This study examined depression and anxiety network structures among older adults with heart disease and their heart disease free peers., Methods: Network analyses of secondary cross-sectional data from the 2017 to 2018 wave of CLHLS were used to construct groups of older adults with and without heart disease using propensity score matching. Depression and anxiety symptoms were assessed using Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale and Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale, respectively. Central symptoms and bridge symptoms were identified using expected influence., Results: 1689 older adults with heart disease and matched control sample of 1689 older adults without heart disease were included. The prevalence and severity of depression and anxiety were significantly higher in older adults with heart disease compared to the control group. There was no significant difference in overall structures of depression and anxiety network models between two the groups. Key central symptoms and bridge symptoms within these groups were highly similar; GAD 2 "Uncontrollable worrying" and GAD 4 "Trouble relaxing" were identified as the most central symptoms, while GAD 1 "Nervousness" and CESD 1 "Feeling bothered" were identified as key bridge symptoms across both network models., Conclusion: Depression and anxiety are more prevalent in older adults with heart disease than demographically-matched heart disease free controls. However, network structures of these symptoms do not differ between two groups. Introduction: School-age autistic children commonly experience social communication and interaction challenges in their everyday lives. While international evidence suggests that social skills group training (SSGT) programmes can support autistic children, improving their psychosocial functioning, to date there is no standardised evidence-based SSGT tailored towards the needs of autistic children aged 8-12 years living in the Chinese Mainland. Therefore, the primary objective of this study will be to evaluate the feasibility and acceptability of a culturally adapted 16-session version of the social skills programme KONTAKT in Chinese autistic children. Additionally, preliminary efficacy and cost-effectiveness will be assessed to inform a future definitive trial., Methods and Analysis: This study will employ a randomised, single-blinded, waitlist-controlled feasibility design with 36 Chinese autistic children aged 8-12 years with IQ over 70 referred to the Child Development and Behavior Center in Guangzhou, China. Participants will be randomly assigned to either the immediate training group or the delayed training group stratified by sex. Feasibility will be assessed using quantitative and qualitative data obtained from the KONTAKT CHILD participants, their parents and facilitators of the programme. Preliminary efficacy and cost-effectiveness are assessed via quantitative data obtained at five time points. The primary efficacy outcome is participants' improvement in social skills as measured by the Contextual Assessment of Social Skills. Other outcomes include parents and teachers' reports of participants' autistic traits and adaptive functioning, participants' self-report and projective tests for self-assertiveness and psychosocial functioning, and parent reports on parental reflective functioning and perceived school support. Common process factors and their effects on outcomes will also be explored. Background and Aims: Spring phenological change of plants in response to global warming may affect many ecological processes and functions. Chilling temperature regulates budburst date by releasing dormancy. However, whether freezing temperatures (<0 °C) contribute to dormancy release remains of debate. Our poor understanding of the role of chilling makes estimating shifts in budburst date difficult., Methods: A 2-year chilling-forcing experiment was explicitly designed to test the effects of chilling temperatures on dormancy release of nine temperate woody species in Beijing, China. A total of 1620 twigs were first exposed to a wide range of temperatures (-10 to 10 °C) with different durations and then moved to growth chambers. Based on budburst data in experimental conditions, we examined whether freezing temperatures are effective on dormancy release. We also developed a new framework for constructing chilling functions based on the curve between chilling duration and forcing requirement (FR) of budburst. The chilling function derived from this framework was not affected by experimental forcing conditions., Key Results: We demonstrated that freezing temperatures down to -10 °C were effective in dormancy release. The rate of dormancy release, indicated by the rate of decay in the chilling duration-FR curve, did not differ significantly between chilling temperatures in most cases, although it exhibited a maximum value at 0 or 5 °C. The chilling function-associated phenological models could simulate budburst date from independent experimental and observational data with a mean RMSE of 7.07 d., Conclusions: The effective freezing temperatures found here are contrary to the well-known assumption of <0 °C temperature generally not contributing to accumulated chilling in many previous chilling functions. A chilling function assuming that temperature below an upper temperature threshold has the same effects on dormancy release could be adopted to calculate chilling accumulation when using experiments to develop spring phenological models based on the chilling-forcing relationship., (© The Author(s) 2024. Purpose: The Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills (PEERS ® ) is a group-based social skills training program for adolescents on the autism spectrum. Although the program has been shown to be effective in improving social skills in autistic adolescents, evidence of its effectiveness from the Mandarin-speaking Chinese population is sparse. The present study used a non-randomized, pre- and post-intervention research design to investigate the feasibility and cultural validity of the program, as well as examine the moderators of intervention outcomes., Methods: Thirty-three autistic adolescents with intelligence quotient above 70 (M age  = 13.57, SD age  = 1.43; Male: Female 25:8) and their parents received 14 concurrent 90-minute sessions. Adolescents' autistic traits, challenging behaviors, emotional functioning, socio-cognitive process, social environment factors (school support), and caregivers' well-being were evaluated., Results: The findings suggest that with minor adjustments, the Mandarin version of PEERS ® was generally acceptable and feasible for autistic adolescents and their parents. PEERS ® may improve the social skills knowledge, reciprocal communication abilities, and emotional well-being of autistic adolescents. Also, participants with a higher level of school support, and parents with lower perceived subjective well-being at baseline may gain more benefits from PEERS ® . Objectives: To investigate predictors of hypogammaglobulinemia (HGG) and severe infection event (SIE) in patients with autoimmune disease (AID) receiving rituximab (RTX) therapy., Methods: This was a retrospective study conducted in a tertiary medical center in China. Predictors of HGG or SIE were assessed using Cox analysis. Restricted cubic spline (RCS) analysis was applied to examine the correlation between glucocorticoid (GC) maintenance dose and SIE., Results: A total of 219 patients were included in this study, with a cumulative follow-up time of 698.28 person-years. Within the study population, 117 patients were diagnosed with connective tissue disease, 75 patients presented with ANCA-associated vasculitis, and 27 patients exhibited IgG4-related disease. HGG was reported in 63.3% of the patients, where an obvious decline in IgG and IgM was shown three months after RTX initiation. The rate of SIE was 7.2 per 100 person-years. An increase in the GC maintenance dose was an independent risk factor for both hypo-IgG (HR 1.07, 95% CI 1.02-1.12, p = 0.003) and SIE (HR 1.06, 95% CI 1.02-1.1, p = 0.004). Further RCS analysis identified 7.48 mg/d prednisone as a safe threshold dose for patients who underwent RTX treatment to avoid a significantly increased risk for SIE., Conclusion: HGG was relatively common in RTX-treated AID patients. Patients with chronic lung disease or who were taking ≥ 7.5 mg/d prednisone during RTX treatment were at increased risk for SIE and warrant attention from physicians., (© 2024. Objective: In Chinese adolescents, the co-occurrence of depressive symptoms and short sleep duration constitute a serious public health issue. This study investigates the association between depressive symptoms and sleep duration of Chinese adolescents on weekdays as well as weekends., Methods: A multistage random cluster selection was utilized to select 2660 adolescents in Taiyuan, China. The survey contents included demographic characteristics, sleep duration, and depressive symptoms., Results: About 41.95 % of students reported depressive symptoms with an average sleep duration of 7.71 ± 0.90 h. After adjusting for covariates, depressive symptoms were found to be positively correlated with sleep duration <6 h (OR = 1.88, 95 % CI: 1.20, 2.95) and 6 ~ h (OR = 1.61, 95 % CI: 1.18, 2.20) on weekdays, and sleep duration <6 h (OR = 2.10, 95 % CI: 1.17, 3.79) and 6 ~ hours (OR = 1.74, 95 % CI: 1.16, 2.62) on weekends compared with a sleep duration of 8 ~ hours. Only on weekdays, sleep duration of 7 ~ hours was positively correlated with depressive symptoms (OR = 1.39, 95%CI: 1.05, 1.84). On weekends, it was not associated with depressive symptoms (OR = 1.06, 95%CI: 0.82, 1.39). In subgroup analyses, female students (OR = 2.88, 1.97, 1.50) and middle school students (OR = 3.50, 2.07, 1.50) were more likely to experience depressive symptoms on weekdays with a sleep duration of <6 h, 6 ~ hours and 7 ~ hours., Limitations: Sleep duration and depressive symptoms were self-reported measures., Conclusion: The study highlights that short sleep duration (< 7 h) increases the risk of depressive symptoms among adolescents regardless of weekdays or weekends. Just on weekdays, the sleep duration of 7 ~ hours was a risk factor for depressive symptoms. Further, gender, grade, and the only-child played significant modification effects between depressive symptoms and sleep duration. Background: The global increase in the aging population presents considerable challenges, particularly regarding cognitive impairment, a major concern for public health. This study investigates the association between the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index, a measure of insulin resistance, and the risk of cognitive impairment in the elderly., Methods: This prospective cohort study enrolled 2,959 participants aged 65 and above from the 2015 and 2020 waves of the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS). The analysis employed a logistic regression model to assess the correlation between the TyG index and cognitive impairment., Results: The study included 2,959 participants, with a mean age of 71.2 ± 5.4 years, 49.8% of whom were female. The follow-up in 2020 showed a decrease in average cognitive function scores from 8.63 ± 4.61 in 2015 to 6.86 ± 5.45. After adjusting for confounding factors, a significant association was observed between TyG index quartiles and cognitive impairment. Participants in the highest quartile (Q4) of baseline TyG had a higher risk of cognitive impairment compared to those in the lowest quartile (Q1) (odds ratio [OR]: 1.97, 95% confidence intervals [CI]: 1.28-2.62, P<0.001)., Conclusion: The study highlights a significant connection between elevated TyG index levels and cognitive impairment among older adults in China. Climate change and human activities have increased ecological risks and degraded ecosystem functions in alpine wetland grassland regions, where ecological security remains largely unexplored. The construction of ecological security patterns (ESP) can help to synchronize regional ecological security and sustainable development and provide ideas to address these challenges. This article determines the current ESP of Zoigê County, China, by analyzing the spatial and temporal characteristics of landscape ecological risk (LER) and generating an ecological network by combining the InVEST model, the landscape connectivity index, and the circuit theory model. Management zoning and targeted conservation recommendations are proposed. The results indicate that the region has significant spatial heterogeneity in IER. Ecological risk exposure is increasing, with high values mainly concentrated in the central part of the region. Meanwhile, ecological protection areas were identified, which included 2578.44 km 2 of ecological sources, 71 key ecological corridors, 25 potential ecological corridors, 4 river ecological corridors, 66 pinch points, and 58 barriers. Psychiatric syndromes are common following recovery from Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection. This study investigated the prevalence and the network structure of depression, insomnia, and suicidality among mental health professionals (MHPs) who recovered from COVID-19. Depression and insomnia were assessed with the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) and Insomnia Severity Index questionnaire (ISI7) respectively. Suicidality items comprising suicidal ideation, suicidal plan and suicidal attempt were evaluated with binary response (no/yes) items. Network analyses with Ising model were conducted to identify the central symptoms of the network and their links to suicidality. A total of 9858 COVID-19 survivors were enrolled in a survey of MHPs. The prevalence of depression and insomnia were 47.10% (95% confidence interval (CI) = 46.09-48.06%) and 36.2% (95%CI = 35.35-37.21%), respectively, while the overall prevalence of suicidality was 7.8% (95%CI = 7.31-8.37%). The key central nodes included "Distress caused by the sleep difficulties" (ISI7) (EI = 1.34), "Interference with daytime functioning" (ISI5) (EI = 1.08), and "Sleep dissatisfaction" (ISI4) (EI = 0.74). "Fatigue" (PHQ4) (Bridge EI = 1.98), "Distress caused by sleep difficulties" (ISI7) (Bridge EI = 1.71), and "Motor Disturbances" (PHQ8) (Bridge EI = 1.67) were important bridge symptoms. The flow network indicated that the edge between the nodes of "Suicidality" (SU) and "Guilt" (PHQ6) showed the strongest connection (Edge Weight= 1.17, followed by "Suicidality" (SU) - "Sad mood" (PHQ2) (Edge Weight = 0.68)). The network analysis results suggest that insomnia symptoms play a critical role in the activation of the insomnia-depression-suicidality network model of COVID-19 survivors, while suicidality is more susceptible to the influence of depressive symptoms. Objective: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a disease of high heterogeneity, and the association between AF phenotypes and the outcome of different catheter ablation strategies remains unclear. Conventional classification of AF (e.g. according to duration, atrial size, and thromboembolism risk) fails to provide reference for the optimal stratification of the prognostic risks or to guide individualized treatment plan. In recent years, research on machine learning has found that cluster analysis, an unsupervised data-driven approach, can uncover the intrinsic structure of data and identify clusters of patients with pathophysiological similarity. It has been demonstrated that cluster analysis helps improve the characterization of AF phenotypes and provide valuable prognostic information. In our cohort of AF inpatients undergoing radiofrequency catheter ablation, we used unsupervised cluster analysis to identify patient subgroups, to compare them with previous studies, and to evaluate their association with different suitable ablation patterns and outcomes., Methods: The participants were AF patients undergoing radiofrequency catheter ablation at West China Hospital between October 2015 and December 2017. All participants were aged 18 years or older. They underwent radiofrequency catheter ablation during their hospitalization. They completed the follow-up process under explicit informed consent. Patients with AF of a reversible cause, severe mitral stenosis or prosthetic heart valve, congenital heart disease, new-onset acute coronary syndrome within three months prior to the surgery, or a life expectancy less than 12 months were excluded according to the exclusion criteria. The cohort consisted of 1102 participants with paroxysmal or persistent/long-standing persistent AF. Data on 59 variables representing demographics, AF type, comorbidities, therapeutic history, vital signs, electrocardiographic and echocardiographic findings, and laboratory findings were collected. Overall, data for the variables were rarely missing (<5%), and multiple imputation was used for correction of missing data. Follow-up surveys were conducted through outpatient clinic visits or by telephone. Patients were scheduled for follow-up with 12-lead resting electrocardiography and 24-hours Holter monitoring at 3 months and 6 months after the ablation procedure. Early ablation success was defined as the absence of documented AF, atrial flutter, or atrial tachycardia >30 seconds at 6-month follow-up. Hierarchical clustering was performed on the 59 baseline variables. All characteristic variables were standardized to have a mean of zero and a standard deviation of one. Initially, each patient was regarded as a separate cluster, and the distance between these clusters was calculated. Then, the Ward minimum variance method of clustering was used to merge the pair of clusters with the minimum total variance. This process continued until all patients formed one whole cluster. The "NbClust" package in R software, capable of calculating various statistical indices, including pseudo t 2 index, cubic clustering criterion, silhouette index etc, was applied to determine the optimal number of clusters. The most frequently chosen number of clusters by these indices was selected. A heatmap was generated to illustrate the clinical features of clusters, while a tree diagram was used to depict the clustering process and the heterogeneity among clusters. Ablation strategies were compared within each cluster regarding ablation efficacy., Results: Five statistically driven clusters were identified: 1) the younger age cluster ( n =404), characterized by the lowest prevalence of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular comorbidities but the highest prevalence of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (14.4%); 2) a cluster of elderly adults with chronic diseases ( n =438), the largest cluster, showing relatively higher rates of hypertension, diabetes, stroke, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; 3) a cluster with high prevalence of sinus node dysfunction ( n =160), with patients showing the highest prevalence of sick sinus syndrome and pacemaker implantation; 4) the heart failure cluster ( n =80), with the highest prevalence of heart failure (58.8%) and persistent/long-standing persistent AF (73.7%); 5) prior coronary artery revascularization cluster ( n =20), with patients of the most advanced age (median: 69.0 years old) and predominantly male patients, all of whom had prior myocardial infarction and coronary artery revascularization. Patients in cluster 2 achieved higher early ablation success with pulmonary veins isolation alone compared to extensive ablation strategies (79.6% vs. 66.5%; odds ratio [OR]=1.97, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.28-3.03). Although extensive ablation strategies had a slightly higher success rate in the heart failure group, the difference was not statistically significant., Conclusions: This study provided a unique classification of AF patients undergoing catheter ablation by cluster analysis. Age, chronic disease, sinus node dysfunction, heart failure and history of coronary artery revascularization contributed to the formation of the five clinically relevant subtypes. Background: With the rapid growth of global aging, frailty has become a serious public health burden, affecting the life quality of older adults. Depressive symptoms (depression hereafter) and sleep quality are associated with frailty, but the pathways in which sleep quality and depression affect frailty remain unclear., Method: This cross-sectional study included 1866 community-dwelling older adults. Demographic characteristics and health-related data of them was collected, and we also assessed frailty, depression, and sleep quality. Descriptive statistics were carried out and ordinal logistic regression analysis was used to identify the factors correlated with frailty. Spearman correlation analysis and mediation analysis were employed to assess associations between sleep quality, depression and frailty. Two-sided p  < 0.05 was considered as significant., Results: The results showed that 4.1% older adults were frail and 31.0% were pre-frail. Ordinal logistic regression showed that age, consumptions of vegetables, exercise, sleep quality, depression, number of chronic diseases, chronic pain, and self-rated health were correlated with frailty. Spearman correlation analysis revealed that frailty was associated with depression and sleep quality. There was a mediation effect that sleep quality was a significant and positive predictor of frailty (total effect = 0.0545, 95% boot CI = 0.0449-0.0641), and depression was a mediator between sleep quality and frailty (mediation effect = 60.4%)., Conclusion: Depression and poor sleep quality may be early indicators of frailty in older adults. The effects of food on the pharmacokinetics (PKs) and safety of 10-mg rivaroxaban tablets in healthy Chinese subjects were investigated from 1 bioequivalence trial. The bioequivalence trial was designed as randomized, open-label, 2-sequence, 4-period crossover under both fasted and fed conditions. A total of 56 healthy subjects were enrolled, 62.5% were male. These subjects received a single oral 10-mg dose of rivaroxaban with a 7-day washout between 4 periods. Serial PK samples were collected and plasma concentrations were analyzed using validated high-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. Pharmacokinetic parameters were calculated by noncompartmental methods. The BE module of WinNonLin was used for statistical analysis of the maximum concentration (C max ), the area under the concentration-time curve from zero to the final measurable concentration (AUC 0-t ), and the area under the concentration-time curve from time zero to infinity (AUC 0-∞ ) of rivaroxaban in plasma. Compared with the fasted state, the C max , AUC 0-t , and AUC 0-∞ of rivaroxaban significantly increased by 47%, 28%, and 26%, respectively, with oral administration of rivaroxaban 10 mg in the fed state. The incidence of adverse events (AEs) was similar between the fasted and fed states, and no serious AEs were observed. Background: Despite the significant progress over the years, Tuberculosis remains a major public health concern and a danger to global health. This study aimed to analyze the spatial and temporal characteristics of the incidence of tuberculosis and its risk factors and to predict future trends in the incidence of Tuberculosis., Methods: This study used secondary data on tuberculosis incidence and tuberculosis risk factor data from 209 countries and regions worldwide between 2000 and 2021 for analysis. Specifically, this study analyses the spatial autocorrelation of Tuberculosis incidence from 2000 to 2021 by calculating Moran's I and identified risk factors for Tuberculosis incidence by multiple stepwise linear regression analysis. We also used the Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average model to predict the trend of Tuberculosis incidence to 2030. This study used ArcGIS Pro, Geoda and R studio 4.2.2 for analysis., Results: The study found the global incidence of Tuberculosis and its spatial autocorrelation trends from 2000 to 2021 showed a general downward trend, but its spatial autocorrelation trends remained significant (Moran's I = 0.465, P < 0.001). The risk factors for Tuberculosis incidence are also geographically specific. Low literacy rate was identified as the most pervasive and profound risk factor for Tuberculosis., Conclusions: This study shows the global spatial and temporal status of Tuberculosis incidence and risk factors. Although the incidence of Tuberculosis and Moran's Index of Tuberculosis are both declining, there are still differences in Tuberculosis risk factors across countries and regions. Even though literacy rate is the leading risk factor affecting the largest number of countries and regions, there are still many countries and regions where gender (male) is the leading risk factor. In addition, at the current rate of decline in Tuberculosis incidence, the World Health Organization's goal of ending the Tuberculosis pandemic by 2030 will be difficult to achieve. Targeted preventive interventions, such as health education and regular screening of Tuberculosis-prone populations are needed if we are to achieve the goal. The results of this study will help policymakers to identify high-risk groups based on differences in TB risk factors in different areas, rationalize the allocation of healthcare resources, and provide timely health education, so as to formulate more effective Tuberculosis prevention and control policies., (© 2023. An important breakthrough in the coordinated development of China's low-carbon goals and food security strategies is agricultural development oriented toward quality, safety, green, and low carbon. This study integrated command-control and market-incentive environmental regulation (ER), agricultural eco-efficiency (ACEE), and food quality and safety (FQS) into a unified theoretical framework. The unexpected output-oriented Super-SBM model was used to calculate the ACEE of China's provinces and cities from 2011 to 2020 and test the bidirectional causality between ACEE and FQS through the system generalized moment estimation model. A dynamic panel smooth transition (PSTR) model was used to explore the nonlinear impact mechanisms of different types of ERs on ACEE and FQS. The results showed that there was a long-term, two-way causal relationship between ACEE and FQS. The impact of environmental regulations on ACEE and FQS has a nonlinear relationship. Among them, the role of market-incentivized ER is more significant. Therefore, building an interregional coordinated development mechanism, improving the utilization rate of agricultural resources such as fertilizers and pesticides, and coordinating the positive effects of different types of ERs are the keys to improving the ACEE and ensuring the coordinated development of FQS., (© 2023. Long-term drought induced by low rainfall leads to environmental degradation of land in arid and semi-arid regions. In past decades, re-vegetation of degraded sandy soils to prevent soil erosion has been widely employed, including in Mu Us Sandy Land, which suffers from severe soil erosion. However, it remains unclear how re-vegetation affects soil properties and soil microbes after long restoration periods. In this study, typical plots planting Artemisia ordosica and Salix psammophila were selected to investigate the influence of plant types on soil properties; an area of bare sandy land was used as a control. The results show that re-vegetation increased soil organic carbon (C), total nitrogen (N), soil microbial carbon, microbial nitrogen and soil organic acid, while decreasing soil total phosphorous (TP) content significantly, resulting in increased C/P and N/P ratios. Correlation analysis showed that TP was negatively correlated with oxalic acid (OA) and acetic acid (AA), indicating that increased AA and OA content could accelerate the active utilization of phosphorus and induced low TP in soil. Re-vegetation with A. ordosica significantly decreased the microbial diversity of topsoil. The redundancy analysis showed that TP was main index in affecting microbes. These results that lower P content, higher C/P and N/P ratio and influence of TP on microbes suggest that phosphorus is the main limiting factor for re-vegetation and growth of soil microorganisms. The use of biodegradable plastic film mulching as a replacement for polyethylene plastic film has gained recognition due to its reduced environmental pollution. However, its impact on soil environment is not yet fully understood. Here, we compared the effects of different plastic film mulching on the accumulation of microbial necromass carbon (C) and its contribution to soil total C in 2020 and 2021. Results showed that biodegradable plastic film mulching decreased the accumulation of fungal necromass C compared to no plastic film mulching and polyethylene film mulching. However, the bacterial necromass C and soil total C were not affected by the plastic film mulching. Biodegradable plastic film mulching decreased the soil dissolved organic carbon content after maize harvest. Random forest models suggested that soil dissolved organic C, soil pH and the ratio of soil dissolved organic C to microbial biomass C were important factors in regulating the accumulation of fungal necromass C. The abundance of the fungal genus Mortierella was also found to have a significant positive contribution to the accumulation of fungal necromass C. Objective: Assessment of the prevalence of anti-phosphatidylserine-prothrombin antibodies (aPS/PT) with OAPS and SN-OAPS in Chinese patients., Methods: This retrospective study proceeded at Ren Ji Hospital, Shanghai, China, from January 2019 to January 2020. Two hundred eleven OAPS, 68 SN-OAPS, 81 disease controls, and 30 healthy donors were enrolled. IgM and IgG aPS/PT, IgM/IgG - aCL, and IgM/ IgG/ anti-β2GPI antibodies were tested by ELISA while LAC was tested by clotting assays. All the patients were followed up and tested at least twice over 12 weeks apart., Results: Thirty-three OAPS (15.64%) and 31 SN-OAPS (45.59%) were positive for aPS/PT. aPS/PT IgM showed a high Youden index (.813), which classified OAPS and SN-OAPS patients from healthy controls and other autoimmune diseases. aPS/PT showed a stronger relationship with LAC. Of the 25 OAPS women positive for IgM aPS/PT, 19 (79%) LAC were positive, while of the eight women positive for IgG aPS/PT, 100% were found LAC positive., Conclusion: aPS/PT antibody showed an efficient diagnostic value for Chinese patients with OAPS and SN-OAPS, which could be a potential risk predictor for obstetric complications., (© 2022 John Wiley & Sons A/S. Introduction: The present study investigated how maternal and paternal controls, including behavioral and psychological controls, predict adolescent Internet addiction, as well as the potential moderating effects of adolescent gender and parent-child relationships on the predictions., Methods: Data were collected from 1,974 Chinese adolescents (age range = 14-22; mean = 16.47; SD = 0.87; 1,099 girls) in Guizhou Province, mainland China in November 2021. Internet addiction was measured using the ten-item Internet Addiction Test developed by Kimberly Young, and Parental control and parent-child relationships were measured by the respective subscales derived from the validated Chinese Parent-Child Subsystem Quality Scale., Results: Hierarchical regression analyses revealed that after the covariates were statistically controlled, both parents' behavioral controls showed significant negative predictions on adolescent Internet addiction, while their psychological control tended to positively predict Internet addiction among adolescents, although the effect was only marginal. In addition, the impacts of maternal and paternal controls were equal, and such impacts did not vary between sons and daughters. While adolescent gender was not a significant moderator, the parent-child relationship quality significantly moderated the effects of paternal behavioral control, paternal psychological control, and maternal psychological control on adolescents' Internet addiction. Specifically, the prediction of paternal behavioral control was stronger while the effect of paternal and maternal psychological control was weaker among adolescents with a positive father-child relationship than those with a moderate or poor father-child relationship., Discussion: These findings indicate the protective function of parents' behavioral control and the negative impact of psychological control on the development of adolescent Internet addiction. Massively generated crop straw can be utilized and valorized with great economic and environmental benefits. The Chinese government has adopted the pilot policy of crop straw resource utilization (CSRU) for disposing of the straw and practicing waste valorization. This work took 164 counties in the Hebei Province of China as a case study, mapped the temporal and spatial characteristics of the diffusion of the CSRU pilot policy in this province, and conducted an Event History Analysis by establishing a binary logistic regression model to identify the specific factors that determine the diffusion of the CSRU pilot policy in China from the aspects of resource availability, internal capacity, and external pressure. It indicates that: (1) the CSRU pilot policy diffuses rapidly in Hebei Province, although it is still at the early stage of this policy diffusion; (2) the model explains 95.2% of the variance in adopting a pilot county, indicating the effectiveness of this model; (3) straw resource density has a positive impact on CSRU pilot selections, and it can increase the possibility of one county being selected as a CSRU pilot by 23.2%, while population density has shown a negative effect; (3) policy support from local government is a major internal factor that determines CSRU performance, and it can increase the possibility of one county being selected as a CSRU pilot nearly tenfold; proximity pressure from neighboring counties has a positive effect on the diffusion of the CSRU policy, and it also greatly increases the possibility of being selected as a CSRU pilot.

Background: Depressive symptoms and cognitive impairment are common psychiatric conditions and often co-occur in older adults. Network analysis has been widely used in exploring the inter-connections between psychiatric symptoms. The aim of this study was to explore the network model of depressive symptoms and cognitive performance, and their association with quality of life in people aged 65 years or above based on the 2017-2018 wave of Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey (CLHLS)., Method: Global cognitive performance, depressive symptoms, and global quality of life (QoL) were measured using the validated Chinese version of the Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE), the 10-item Center for Epidemiologic Studies Short Depression Scale (CES-D), and the World Health Organization Quality of Life-brief version (WHOQOL-BREF), respectively. Central symptoms and bridge symptoms were identified via strength and bridge strength, respectively. The flow network was used to identify symptoms directly related to QoL. Network stability was examined using the case dropping bootstrap method., Results: A total of 9023 participants were included in the network analysis. CESD3 "Feeling blue/depressed", CESD4 "Everything was an effort", and At&#95;C "Attention and Calculation" were the central (influential) symptoms that had the highest strength value. Three bridge symptoms (i.e., Nam "Naming", CESD2 "Difficulty with concentrating", and Lan "Language") were also identified. CESD10 "Sleep disturbances" had the strongest direct connection to QoL., Conclusions: This exploratory study highlights the inter-relationships between cognitive performance and depressive symptoms in older adults in the general population. Interventions targeting bridge symptoms have the potential to alleviate depressive and cognitive symptoms in this population. The open-air burning of the massive generated crop straw in rural areas has been a troubling problem in China in recent decades, and the utilization and valorization of crop straw have provided promising solutions to it. However, due to the limitations in straw resources, economic, social, and technological conditions, different regions vary greatly with each other in the technological pathways and performance of straw utilization. By taking ten counties and districts of Xinyang City in Henan Province of China as examples, it analyzed the spatial distribution of straw yields and the adoption of five pathways of crop straw utilization in Xinyang City, and summarized three typical combination modes. In addition, it also provided the integrated model of FBWM-TOPSIS-PROMETHEE to evaluate the performance of crop straw utilization in the ten counties and districts, to provide local decision-makers with the pathways for promoting the utilization and valorization of crop straw. The results indicated that: (1) The endowment of straw resources and the straw utilization pathways in the ten counties and districts of Xinyang City vary greatly with each other; (2) Returning crop straw to the fields as fertilizer after being crushed is the mainstream mode of resource utilization of crop straw, although five technological modes have been adopted in Xinyang City; (3) Among the 10 counties, Huaibin and Xixian have the best performance of resource utilization of crop straw, and Shangcheng is the worst performer., (© 2022. To investigate the differences between Korean Ganoderma lucidum spore powder (KP), broken-spo-roderm KP (BSKP), Chinese traditional G. lucidum spore powder (CP), and broken-sporoderm CP (BSCP), they were identified by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), second derivative infrared spectroscopy (SD-IR), dual-index sequence analysis (DISA) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). SEM showed that there were no significant differences in microstructure between the two kinds of spore powders. FT-IR spectra showed that the four spore powders appeared with characteristic peaks of 3400, 3006, 2925, 1745, 1535, 1454, 1249, 1074, 1049, and 896 cm-1, respectively, they were contained the characteristic peaks of total triterpenes, polysaccharides and fatty acids. DISA showed that the same species of spore powders, the overall similarity of before and broken the sporoderm was high with minor differences and there were no differences between the different kinds of spore powders. Similarity analysis showed that the four spore powders were in high agreement and were no differences. The polysaccharide, total triterpene, spore oil and protein content of the four spore powders were determined separately. The results showed that the active ingredients content of the batch of KP were lower than that of CP, that of BSKP were lower than that of BSCP, while the active ingredients content of both broken-sporoderm spore powders were higher than that of before broken-sporoderm. It is inferred that the structure of the main chemical and component of KP is the same as that of CP. This study provides a reference for the future development and application of G. lucidum.

The association between Toxoplasma gondii (T. gondii ) infection and malignancy has attracted increased attention in recent years, but little is known of T. gondii infection among women diagnosed with a gynecological tumor (GT) in China. We conducted a case-control study involving 460 women diagnosed with a GT and 460 age-matched healthy controls (HCs) to estimate the infection process of T. gondii and understand the risk factors of T. gondii infection in patients with a GT. Levels of anti- T. gondii IgG and IgM were measured by enzyme-linked immunoassays every 12 months. After a median follow-up time of 4.3 years (range 4 to 5 years), 55/460 (11.96%) patients with a GT and 15/460 (3.26%) HCs were seroprevalence for T. gondii antibodies, respectively ( P = 0.001). IgG antibodies against T. gondii were found in 54 GT patients (11.74%) and 15 HCs (3.26%), respectively ( P = 0.001). The seroprevalence of T. gondii IgM antibodies was similar in patients with a GT and with HCs (2.83% vs 1.3%, P = 0.105). Multivariate stepwise logistic regression analysis revealed contact with cats (OR, 6.67; 95% CI [2.89-10.75]; P = 0.001), exposure to soil (OR, 2.16; 95% CI [1.14-4.10]; P = 0.019), being a farm-worker (OR, 4.17; 95% CI [1.20-11.49]; P = 0.006) and history of chemotherapy (OR, 3.16; 95% CI [1.56-6.45]; P = 0.001) to be independent risk factors for T. gondii infection. Women with an ovarian cancer or endometrial cancer had higher T. gondii seroprevalence than that of HCs. Moreover, T. gondii infection in patients with a GT mostly acquired within two years of diagnosis, but the infection in healthy controls had no obvious time characteristics. Here, we demonstrated that T. gondii infection is significantly higher in patients with a GT (especially in women with an ovarian tumor) compared to HCs. This study aimed to determine whether Trachinotus ovatus and Pampus argenteus could be differentiated by multi-element composition or stable isotope ratio analysis of δ 13 C and δ 15 N. The multi-element analysis values of a total of 60 Pampus argenteus samples from three sites and 60 Trachinotus ovatus samples from four sites around China were determined, and the other 60 samples of Pampus argenteus and 51 samples of Trachinotus ovatus were tested by principal component analysis (PCA) to estimate the accuracy of origin identification. The results showed that the cross-validation accuracy rate is 92.2% for the Pampus argenteus and 98.3% for the Trachinotus ovatus. Stable isotope analysis of δ 13 C and δ 15 N also can distinguish Trachinotus ovatus from different geographical origins. These results showed that the usefulness of multi-element and stable isotope analysis as indicators for authenticating the geographical origin of two pomfrets in China., (Copyright © 2022 Elsevier Ltd. Since November 2016, severe infectious diseases characterized by gout and kidney swelling and caused by goose astrovirus (GoAstV) have affected goslings in major goose-producing areas in China. In 2021, a similar serious infectious disease broke out in commercial goose farms in Heilongjiang Province, China. In this study, strain HLJ2021 was successfully isolated from goose embryos. Electron microscopy showed that the viral particles are spherical, with a diameter of about 28 nm. The complete genomic length of strain HLJ2021 is 7210 nt, and it encodes three viral proteins. A phylogenetic analysis showed that strain HLJ2021 belongs to GoAstV-2 (G2). Compared with the two original GoAstV strains, amino acid site 540 Q of the strain HLJ2021 spike domain has a mutation that affects the protein structure. One potential recombination event occurred between strains HLJ2021 and AstV/HB01/Goose/0123/19, which led to the generation of recombinant strain AstV/HN03/Goose/0402/19. Strain HLJ2021 also showed strong pathogenicity in goslings. Goslings infected with GoAstV began to die at 48 h post-infection (hpi), with a mortality rate of 83.3% at 240 hpi. At autopsy, visceral urate deposits, severe renal hemorrhage and swelling, and urate in the ureter were observed in the dead goslings. These findings extend our understanding of the evolution of GoAstV, which causes gout. Background: Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a major psychiatric disorder with increasing research intensity. However, papers written in languages other than English are less accessible to international readers. This study examined the bibliometric features of English and Chinese language research papers about major depressive disorder in China., Methods: The Web of Science (WoS) and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) databases were searched for eligible studies. Authorship collaboration networks and keyword co-occurrences were estimated and visualized., Results: There were 2,220 and 63,306 publications on MDD in the WoS and CNKI between 1990 and 2021, respectively. The number of papers increased annually during the period. For papers written in English, the Journal of Affective Disorders (201; 9.05 %) had the highest activity and the Shanghai Jiao Tong University had the most publications (232; 10.45 %). For papers in Chinese, the highest activity was with the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry (1,025; 1.62 %) and the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (1,098; 1.73 %). Xiang YT (68; 3.06 %) and Yuan YG (179; 0.28 %) were the most productive authors in the English and Chinese languages, respectively. Keyword analysis showed that English and Chinese publications differed in emphasis (English: related psychiatric conditions, study design, clinical aspects, and assessment instruments; Chinese: somatic comorbidities, antidepressants, related psychiatric conditions, treatment of depression, and electrophysiological)., Conclusions: The number of scientific papers on MDD increased yearly, and Chinese authors writing in English have an increasing influence. Aim: In a randomized, multicenter, open, controlled trial, we compared the effects of Honglilai Vaginal Cream and Premarin Vaginal Cream in different age subgroups and menopausal year subgroups (trial registration numbers: 02003L00493)., Methods: Postmenopausal women with Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause (GSM) were divided into Honglilai group ( n  = 319) and Premarin group ( n  = 116), while subgroups were divided according to their different characteristics of age and menopausal years. Honglilai Vaginal Cream (0.625 mg/g) or Premarin Vaginal Cream (0.625 mg/g) once daily for 3 weeks., Results: In the subgroup of participates >60 years, there were no significant differences of Vaginal Cell Maturation Index (VMI) between the two groups after treatment ( p  = .171). In the subgroup of 50-59 years, the VMI of Honglilai group was significantly lower than Premarin group (Honglilai group: 74.37 ± 22.76; Premarin group: 80.06 ± 16.15; p  = .02). There were no significant differences of Vaginal symptom scores between Honglilai group and Premarin group in every sub-group ( p  > .05)., Conclusions: Honglilai Vaginal Cream had comparable efficacy with Premarin Vaginal Cream in Chinese women older than 60 years.

Demand for high forage production and quality has been increased markedly by development of animal husbandry in China. The lack of efficient planting regimes and key technologies greatly limits production of high-quality forage. Oat has become an important forage in animal husbandry in China due to its high nutritional value and forage yield as well as its great adaptation to harsh environment. To maximize oat forage production in an alpine region, we developed a new model of oat forage production known as two-sown regime, i.e., the first spring-sown and the second summer-sown, during a single growing season in an alpine region of Hulun Buir, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China, using two early-matured oat species, Avena sativa (cv. Qinghai444, winner oat cultivar) and A. nuda (cv. Huazao2, spring oat cultivar). The key technologies and the underlying agronomic mechanisms were investigated across three experimental years of 2017-2019. The main results were as follows: (1) dry weight yield, crude protein yield, and relative feed value of forage in the two-sown regime were significantly increased by 53.6%, 48.9%, and 70.6% relative to traditional one-sown regime across the 3 years, respectively; (2) forage production was mainly achieved by an increase in plant height at the first spring-sown; and (3) forage yield resulted mainly from an increase in tiller density by increasing seeding rate under no-tillage treatment in the second summer-sown. The key technologies of the two-sown regime were the first spring-sown at the soil thawing depth 10-13 cm, followed by the second summer-sown with increasing seeding rate under no-tillage treatment. These findings highlight that the two-sown regime of oat forage can be widely used as an effective planting regime to maximize forage production in large alpine regions of northern China as well as in regions with similar climates., (© 2022. Beijing's air quality has improved significantly since the implementation of the Air Pollution Prevention and Control Action Plan in 2013, but the local and regional contributions to this improvement have rarely been studied. Here, the vertical profile of the atmospheric backscattering coefficient (ABC) was measured by a ceilometer in Beijing from 2015 to 2020. The results show that the ABC in Beijing decreased the most at ground level from 2015 to 2020, decreasing 51.4%. Interannual variability decreased with height, and no noticeable change was found in the height range above 600 m. The most apparent declines occurred in autumn and winter, with decreases greater than 55.0%, and the minimum decrease occurred in summer, with a reduction of only 20.0%. To analyze the reasons for the autumn and winter declines, we divided the whole day into four periods according to the evolution characteristics of the atmospheric boundary layer. The significant decrease in the backscattering coefficient near the ground during the daytime confirms the effect of local emission reductions. In contrast, the considerable decreases in the backscattering coefficient measured at different heights in the midday mixing layer demonstrate the contribution of regional transport reduction. Background: Sotagliflozin (LX4211) is a dual inhibitor of sodium-glucose cotransporter (SGLT)1 and SGLT2 being investigated to improve glycemic control in adults with diabetes. This study was firstly conducted to assess the pharmacokinetic (PK), pharmacodynamic (PD) profiles, safety and tolerability in Chinese healthy subjects after administration of sotagliflozin., Methods: This was a Phase I, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, ascending multiple-dose study. Healthy subjects received 200mg or 400mg of sotagliflozin or placebo once daily for 8 days, respectively. PK parameters of sotagliflozin and LX4211-GLU (main metabolite), as measured by blood samples collected pre/postdose on Day 1/predose on Day 2-Day 8/postdose on Day 8, and PD parameters of absolute urinary glucose excretion (UGE) were determined. Treatment-emergent adverse events (TEAEs) were evaluated., Results: Overall, 24 subjects were enrolled and randomized to sotagliflozin 200 mg (N = 9), sotagliflozin 400 mg (N = 9), or placebo (N = 6) group, and all subjects completed the study. Sotagliflozin was rapidly absorbed with dose-proportional systemic exposure and a moderate degree (less than 2-fold) of accumulation. Sotagliflozin plasma concentrations peaked at 1.0 h post dose. On Day 8, the estimated increases for C max and AUC tau were 1.89-fold and 1.70-fold. The pooled accumulation ratio of sotagliflozin was 1.57 for C max and 1.84 for AUC tau . LX4211-GLU had similar PK features. UGE was significantly elevated in both sotagliflozin groups relative to the placebo group. All TEAEs were mild and resolved without sequelae. There were no serious AEs or other significant TEAEs., Conclusion: Sotagliflozin was rapidly absorbed with dose-proportional systemic exposure and a moderate degree of accumulation. Background: Schizophrenia (SCZ) is a severe psychiatric disorder that involves inflammatory processes. The aim of this study was to explore the field of inflammation-related research in SCZ from a bibliometric perspective., Methods: Regular and review articles on SCZ- and inflammation-related research were obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC) database from its inception to February 19, 2022. R package "bibliometrix" was used to summarize the main findings, count the occurrences of the top keywords, visualize the collaboration network between countries, and generate a three-field plot. VOSviewer software was applied to conduct both co-authorship and co-occurrence analyses. CiteSpace was used to identify the top references and keywords with the strongest citation burst., Results: A total of 3,596 publications on SCZ and inflammation were included. Publications were mainly from the USA, China, and Germany. The highest number of publications was found in a list of relevant journals. Apart from "schizophrenia" and "inflammatory", the terms "bipolar disorder," "brain," and "meta-analysis" were also the most frequently used keywords., Conclusions: This bibliometric study mapped out a fundamental knowledge structure consisting of countries, institutions, authors, journals, and articles in the research field of SCZ and inflammation over the past 30 years. Objective: Lynch syndrome (LS) pre-screening methods remain under-investigated in colorectal cancers (CRCs) in Asia. Here, we aimed to systematically investigate LS pre-screening and comprehensively characterize LS CRCs., Methods: Microsatellite instability (MSI) and germline variants of DNA mismatch repair (MMR) genes were examined in 406 deficient MMR (dMMR) and 250 proficient MMR CRCs. The genetic differences between LS and sporadic CRCs were studied with whole exome sequencing analysis., Results: The incidence of dMMR in Chinese patients with CRCs was 13.8%. Consistency analysis between MMR immunohistochemistry (IHC) and MSI testing showed the kappa value was 0.758. With next-generation sequencing (NGS), germline variants were detected in 154 CRCs. Finally, 88 patients with CRC were identified as having LS by Sanger sequencing. Among them, we discovered 21 previously unreported pathogenic germline variants of MMR genes. Chinese patients with LS, compared with sporadic CRCs, tended to be early-onset, right-sided, early-stage and mucinous. Overall, the performance of MMR IHC and MSI testing for LS pre-screening was comparable: the area under the ROC curve for dMMR, MSI-H, and MSI-H/L was 0.725, 0.750, and 0.745, respectively. dMMR&#95;MSI-H LS and sporadic CRCs showed substantial differences in somatic genetic characteristics, including different variant frequencies of APC , CREBBP , and KRAS , as well as different enriched pathways of VEGF, Notch, TGFβR, mTOR, ErbB, and Rac protein signal transduction., Conclusions: MMR IHC and MSI testing were effective methods for LS pre-screening. Objective: To research the influence of Chinese medicine Jiedu Huayu granules (JDHY) on the immune response and inflammatory response of rats with acute liver failure (ALF) and investigate its related mechanism., Methods: Rats were randomly divided into 4 groups: control group ( n = 6) were injected with the same amount of normal saline; ALF group ( n = 10) were injected intraperitoneally with D-GaIN (700 mg/kg) and LPS (10  μ g/kg); ALF+JDHY group ( n = 10) were given JDHY 57.55 g/kg/d by gavage for 7 days and injected intraperitoneally with D-GaIN/LPS after the last dose; and ALF+BAY group ( n = 10) were given BAY 10 mg/kg/d by gavage for 7 days and injected intraperitoneally with D-GaIN/LPS after the last dose. Changes in liver function and coagulation function were examined in rat serum; the pathological varieties of liver tissues were verified by HE staining; immunohistochemistry was utilized to determine the ratio of PCNA and F4/80 in liver tissues; the flow cytometry was applied to determine the ratio of CD4+/CD8+ cells in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs); ELISA and qRT-PCR were utilized to check the level of IL-10, IL-6, IL-13, IL-1 β , TNF- α , IFN- γ , and CD163 in serum and liver cells. Western blot was adopted to check the expression of apoptotic protein and expression and NF- κ B pathway-related protein expression., Results: JDHY and BAY could decline the expression of AST, ALT, ALP, and TBiL in ALF rat serum significantly ( P < 0.01), increase PTA and PLT ( P < 0.01), and mitigate liver tissue damage. Besides, JDHY and BAY could reduce the apoptosis and improve the proliferation of the liver cells in rats with ALF; meanwhile, the ratio of CD4+ cells and F4/80 cells was reduced while CD8+ cells were increased ( P < 0.01). Further, JDHY and BAY could reduce the level of IFN- γ , IL-6, IL-1 β , and TNF- α while increasing the level of IL-10 and IL-13 ( P < 0.01). Additionally, the expression of sCD163 in serum and CD163 expression in liver tissues increased ( P < 0.01). The result of western blot confirmed that JDHY could inhibit the phosphorylated expression of NF- κ B, IK βα , and IKK β in the ALF rat tissues., Conclusions: JDHY can upregulate the level of CD163/sCD163 by the NF- κ B signaling pathway, thereby regulating immune response, inhibiting inflammatory response, and ultimately improving ALF in the rats., Competing Interests: No potential conflict of interest was reported by the authors., (Copyright © 2022 Wenjie Bai et al.)

Objective: To assess the differences in Doppler parameters of endometrial receptivity in unexplained recurrent biochemical pregnancy loss (URBPL) and the therapeutic effect of low-dose aspirin (LDA)., Methods: A retrospective study was conducted at Ren Ji Hospital, Shanghai, PR China, from January 2017 to January 2019. Doppler parameters of endometrium and uterus were recorded as the evaluation of the endometrial receptivity. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was managed to predict the risk of URBPL. Ultrasonography tests were repeated after 2 months of treatment with LDA., Results: Biochemical pregnancies did not correlate with maternal age. The resistance of endometrial perfusion (pulsatility index, resistive index, and systolic-to-diastolic ratio) was significantly higher in URBPLs (P < 0.001) and had predictive values (0.739, 0.779, and 0.760, respectively). Endometrial thickness and impedance to uterine blood flow showed no statistically significant difference (P > 0.05). After treatment with LDA, patients with URBPL improved the blood perfusion of endometrium significantly (P < 0.01)., Conclusion: There was no relation between BPL and maternal age. Patients with URBPL had inappropriate endometrial blood velocity. Doppler indices are capable of predicting the risk of URBPL.
