Background: This study aimed to examine the reporting quality of existing economic evaluations for negotiated glucose-lowering drugs (GLDs) included in China National Reimbursement Drug List (NRDL) using the Consolidated Health Economic Evaluation Reporting Standards 2013 (CHEERS 2013). Methods: We performed a systematic literature research through 7 databases to identify published economic evaluations for GLDs included in the China NRDL up to March 2021. Reporting quality of identified studies was assessed by two independent reviewers based on the CHEERS checklist. The Kruskal–Wallis test and Mann–Whitney U test were performed to examine the association between reporting quality and characteristics of the identified studies. Results: We have identified 24 studies, which evaluated six GLDs types. The average score rate of the included studies was 77.41% (SD:13.23%, Range 47.62%-91.67%). Among all the required reporting items, characterizing heterogeneity (score rate = 4.17%) was the least satisfied item. Among six parts of CHEERS, results part scored least at 0.55 (score rate = 54.79%) because of the incompleteness of characterizing uncertainty. Results from the Kruskal–Wallis test and Mann–Whitney U test showed that model choice, journal type, type of economic evaluations, and study perspective were associated with the reporting quality of the studies. Conclusions: There remains room to improve the reporting quality of economic evaluations for GLDs in NRDL. Coastal waters are polluted by heavy metals to varying degrees, posing potential risks to marine ecology and human health. In May 2006, the pollution levels, sources, and ecological risks of heavy metals (Cu, Pb, Zn, Cd, Hg, and As) in seawater, surface sediments, and living organisms were studied in Jiuzhen Bay in Fujian, China. This study identified Hg (0.26–0.72 µg/L) and As (20.3–31.5 µg/L) pollution in the seawater of Jiuzhen Bay. In sediments, heavy Pb pollution (946 µg/g dw) was only detected at one station at a level posing very serious potential risk, while Hg pollution (0.052–0.087 µg/g dw) was observed at three stations at a level posing serious potential risk. No heavy metal pollution was detected in sediments at other stations. The concentrations of five heavy metals (Cu, Zn, As, Cd, and Pb) exceeded the corresponding National Quality Standards for oysters, indicating heavy pollution, based on an ecological risk assessment. In clams, two heavy metals (Pb and As) exceeded the standards, indicating light pollution, based on an ecological risk assessment. No heavy metal pollution was found in fish or shrimps. The heavy metals in the seawater and sediments of Jiuzhen Bay are mainly derived from the river discharges of Luxi and Wujiang Rivers although sewage discharge along the coast of Jiuzhen Bay is another source of heavy metal pollution at some stations. Given the pollution of Pb, Hg, and As in seawater and sediments at some stations within the bay, the potential risks of Pb, Hg, and As in living organisms to both the marine ecology and human health deserve increased attention. Four new species of the huntsman spider genus Pseudopoda Jäger, 2000 are described from Southern China: Pseudopoda acuminata sp. n. from Suiyang County, Guizhou Province, P. emei sp. n. from Emei Mountain, Sichuan Province, P. lacrimosa sp. n. from Fugong County and Tengchong County, Yunnan Province, and P. robusta sp. n. from Jinyun Mountain, Chongqing Municipality. Simple sequence repeat ( SSR) marker is a powerful tool for construction of genetic linkage map which can be applied for quantitative trait loci ( QTL) and marker-assisted selection ( MAS). In this study, a genetic map of faba bean was constructed with SSR markers using a 129 F2 individuals population derived from the cross of Chinese native variety 91825 (large seed) and K1563 (small seed). By screening 11 551 SSR primers between two parents, 149 primer pairs were detected polymorphic and used for F2 population analysis. This SSR-based genetic linkage map consisted of 15 linkage groups with 128 SSR. The map encompassed 1587 cM with an average genetic distance of 12.4 cM. The genetic map generated in this study will be beneficial for genetic studies of faba bean for identification of marker-locus-trait associations as well as comparative mapping among faba bean, pea and grasspea. A new diterpenoid, 15(S)-isopimar-7-en-1-oxo-15,16-diol (1), was isolated from the stems of mangrove plant Rhizophora apiculata. The structure of the new compound was elucidated by MS, IR, 1D, and 2D NMR techniques, including HMQC, HMBC, and NOESY correlations. Two new species of the genus Pseudopoda Jäger, 2000 are reported from Yunnan Province, China: Pseudopoda mingshengi sp. nov. (male, female) and P. uncata sp. nov. (male, female). The male of P. physematosa Zhang, Jäger & Liu, 2019 is described for the first time.

The TIR domain-containing adaptor inducing IFN-β (TRIF) is an adaptor molecule that plays a critical role in the Toll-like receptors (TLRs)-mediated innate immune signaling pathway. Lamprey, as the most primitive jawless vertebrate, rely mainly on innate immunity to defend against various pathogens infection. The function of TRIF in lamprey remains unknown. In this study, a homologous adaptor molecule TRIF, named LmTRIF, was identified in Northeast Chinese lamprey (Lethenteron morii). The LmTRIF coding sequence (cds) is 1242 bp in length and encodes 413 amino acids (aa). Domain analysis showed that LmTRIF is characterized with the classical TIR domain and a lack of TRAF6 binding motif. The results of evolutionary tree indicated that the relationship between LmTRIF and other homologous proteins was consistent with the position of lamprey in the species evolutionary history. The relative expression of LmTRIF was highest in the liver of larvae and in the gill of adults, respectively. Cellular immunofluorescence assays showed that LmTRIF was expressed in the cytoplasma in both mammalian cell line HEK 293T and the fish cell line EPC. The double luciferase reporter gene assay showed that the overexpression of LmTRIF promoted the activity of NF-κB, an immune transcription factor downstream of the classical TLR signaling pathway. In this study, we identified the TLR adaptor molecule TRIF from L. morii, a vertebrate more primitive than fish. Our results suggested an important role of LmTRIF in the innate immune signal transduction process of L. morii and is the basis for the origin and evolution of the TLR signaling pathway in the innate immune system in vertebrates., (Copyright © 2022 Elsevier Ltd. Background: Mastectomy techniques have been extended to nipple-sparing mastectomy (NSM). This study aimed to assess the actual application of NSM in China and identify the factors influencing postoperative complications., Methods: The clinical data of 615 patients (641 surgeries) undergoing NSM from January 1st, 2018 to December 31st, 2018 at 28 centers nationwide were retrospectively analyzed to obtain the rate of NSM and investigate factors related to NSM surgery., Results: The proportion of NSM surgery performed in this study was 2.67% (17/641). Malignant breast tumors accounted for the majority of NSM surgery (559/641, 87.2%). A total of 475 (77.3%) patients underwent NSM combined with reconstructive surgery. The rate of reconstruction decreased with age in our study, and implants were the most common option (344/641, 53.7%) in reconstruction. Radial incision was the most selected method regardless of reconstruction. However, for those who underwent reconstruction surgery, 18.4% (85/462) of cases also chose curvilinear incision, while in the simple NSM surgery group, more patients chose circumareolar incision (26/136, 19.1%). The tumor-to-nipple distance (TND) influenced postoperative complications (P = 0.004). There were no relationships between postoperative complications and tumor size, tumor location, histologic grade, molecular subtype, nipple discharge, and axillary lymph nodes., Conclusions: NSM surgery is feasible and only TND influenced postoperative complications of NSM surgery. But the proportion of NSM surgery performed is still low in nationwide centers of China. The selection criteria for appropriate surgical methods are important for NSM in clinical practice. Background: Reports on bacterial infection (BI) in decompensated cirrhosis (DC) is mainly from alcoholic cirrhosis. The role of BI as a trigger or complication of acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) in patients with hepatitis B virus decompensated cirrhosis (HBV-DC) remains to be investigated., Aim: To investigate the impact of BI on the outcomes of the patients with HBV-DC admitted into the hospital with or without ACLF., Methods: This retrospective study included patients with HBV-DC admitted to two tertiary centers in China. In-hospital overall survival, 90-d transplant-free survival, 5-year post-discharge survival, and cumulative incidence of ACLF were evaluated. Risk factors for death were analyzed considering liver transplantation as a competing event., Results: A total of 1281 hospitalized HBV-DC patients were included; 284 had ACLF at admission. The overall prevalence of BI was 28.1%. The patients with BI had a significantly lower in-hospital survival and transplant-free 90-d survival than those without, in both the patients admitted with and without ACLF. The presence of BI significantly increased the risk of developing ACLF [sub-distribution hazard ratio (sHR) = 2.52, 95%CI: 1.75-3.61, P < 0.001] in the patients without ACLF. In the patients discharged alive, those who had an episode of BI had a significantly lower 5-year transplant-free survival. BI was an independent risk factor for death in the patients admitted without ACLF (sHR = 3.28, 95%CI: 1.93-5.57), while in ACLF admissions, the presence of pneumonia, but not other type of BI, independently increased the risk of death (sHR = 1.87, 95%CI: 1.24-2.82)., Conclusion: BI triggers ACLF in patients with HBV-DC and significantly impairs short-term survival. This study aimed to investigate the impact of timing interval to start AED withdraw (TIW) after surgery on the seizure outcome in non-neoplastic drug resistant epilepsy (DRE). TIW were divided into three groups (respectively,<1 year, 1-<2 years, and ≥2 years). The seizure outcome at the different time points after starting AED withdrawal were compared among three groups. Other factors that related to seizure recurrence and TIW were included into the multiple analysis to investigate the predictors of seizure-free. Altogether, 205 patients were involved in the study. 102 individuals (50%) had seizure recurrence and 127 (62%) had seizure-free at the final follow up. 115 of them have attempted AED reduction and had not seizure recurrence before AED reduction. The rate of seizure-free had no significant difference among people with different TIW. Multiple analysis indicated that temporal surgery is a favorable predictor of seizure-free at the first year after starting AED withdrawal, and preoperative secondary generalized seizures is an unfavorable predictor of seizure-free at the final follow up. In patients with non-neoplastic DRE, TIW is not the mainly influence factor on seizure outcome, however, preoperative secondary generalized seizures and extra-temporal surgery are negatively associated with seizure-free.

Background and Aim: The association between Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) and gallbladder diseases is still unclear and is controversial. We conducted a retrospective study to clarify the prevalence of gallbladder diseases and factors related to gallbladder diseases and relationships between H. pylori infection, gallstones, cholecystitis, and cholecystic polypus., Methods: The retrospective study was performed at the Aerospace Center Hospital in Beijing. The subjects in this study were a healthy population who underwent health examinations at the hospital between 2012 and 2015. The logistic regression models were used to explore the relationships between H. pylori infection and gallbladder diseases., Results: There were 7803 (43.4%) subjects with H. pylori infection, 995 (5.5%) with gallstones, 219 (1.2%) with cholecystitis, and 1003 (5.6%) with cholecystic polypus amongst 17 971 subjects, respectively. In subjects aged 45 years or less, the prevalence of gallstones in the H. pylori (+) group was lower than that in the H. pylori (-) group (odds ratio = 0.653; 95% confidence interval: 0.468-0.911; P = 0.012). The prevalence of cholecystic polypus in the H. pylori (+) group was significantly higher than that in the H. pylori (-) group (odds ratio = 1.160; 95% confidence interval: 1.012-1.328; P = 0.033)., Conclusions: Helicobacter pylori infection was related with cholecystic polypus and gallstones in a Chinese population., (© 2017 Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology Foundation and John Wiley & Sons Australia, Ltd.)

The role of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection in haematological system diseases is not well understood. We conducted this retrospective study to explore the association between H. pylori infection and anaemia in the Chinese population. This retrospective study was performed in Aerospace Center Hospital in Beijing. We derived the data from the registration system of the physical population between 2012-2016. Logistic regression models were used to explore the association between H. pylori infection and anaemia. Among 17,791 subjects, there were 7,804 (43.9%) subjects with H. pylori infection and 950 (5.3%) with anaemia. The prevalence of anaemia in the H. pylori (+) group was significantly higher than in the H. pylori (-) group after adjusting for age, sex, marriage, underlying diseases and body mass index. Compared to H. pylori (-), the OR of H. pylori (+) was 1.39 for moderate-to-severe anaemia and 1.05 for mild anaemia. The level of haemoglobin was lower in the H. pylori (+) group than in the H. pylori (-) group. This study indicates that H. pylori infection may be related to anaemia and haemoglobin level in the Chinese population.

Background: Hepatocyte death, either apoptosis or necrosis, is closely associated with hepatic inflammation and fibrosis., Aims: To investigate the potential values of hepatocytes death biomarker, M30 (apoptosis) and M65 (total death) in predicting histological lesions in chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection., Methods: Total 201 treatment-naïve patients were prospectively recruited. Liver biopsies were performed prior to antiviral treatments for treatments starting evaluation. Sera were collected on the day of liver biopsy for biomarker measurements. Sera from 200 age-matched healthy volunteers served as healthy controls (HCs)., Results: Significant histological lesions (SHL, i.e. significant inflammation and/or significant fibrosis) were confirmed in 150 (74.63%) patients. There were significantly higher serum M30 and M65 in patients with SHL than those without SHL (p<0.001) or than HCs (p<0.001). Serum M30, but not M65, independently predicted SHL [odds ratio:3.4 (95% CI, 1.8-6.2) per increase of 50U/L, p<0.001] after adjusting other potential confounding factors. A novel model based on M30 provided good diagnostic performance in predicting SHL [AUC, 0.87 (0.81-0.92)]. Cut-off value of >0 to confirm or ≤-0.5 to exclude SHL has ∼12% misclassification rate., Conclusion: Hepatocyte apoptosis biomarker, M30 is a promising non-invasive alternative to liver biopsy in chronic HBV infection upon treatment evaluation., (Copyright © 2016 Editrice Gastroenterologica Italiana S.r.l. Two aerobic, Gram-stain positive actinobacterial strains with nematicidal activity, designated HA11164(T) and HA12591, were isolated from mangrove sediments in Hainan, China. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that strains HA11164(T) and HA12591 belong to the genus Pseudonocardia and are closely related to Pseudonocardia carboxydivorans (with the similarities of 98.30 and 98.24 %, respectively), Pseudonocardia alni (98.23 and 98.16 %, respectively) and Pseudonocardia antimicrobica (98.10 and 98.03 %, respectively). The major polar lipids of the strain HA11164(T), as a representative strain of the two strains, were found to consist of phosphatidylmethylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylinositol, five unidentified glycolipids and four unidentified polar lipids. The predominant menaquinone of strain HA11164(T) was identified as MK-8 (H4), and the major fatty acids were identified as iso-C16:0, C17:1 ω10, C16:0 and C16:1 ω9. The G+C content of strain HA11164(T) was determined to be 74.9 mol%. The DNA-DNA relatedness values between strains HA11164(T) and P. alni, Pseudonocardia tropica, Pseudonocardia antarctica, P. carboxydivorans and Pseudonocardia parietis were 58.3, 56.2, 50.0, 57.1 and 46.0 %, respectively. Based on the results of this polyphasic study, strains HA11164(T) and HA12591 are considered to represent a novel species of the genus Pseudonocardia, for which the name Pseudonocardia nematodicida sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is HA11164(T) (=CGMCC 4.7118(T) = DSM 45940(T)).

Three new species of the huntsman spider genus Sinopoda Jäger, 1999, collected from Sichuan Province and Chongqing Municipality, P. R. China, are described: Sinopoda cochlearia sp. nov. (male, female), S. globosa sp. nov. (male, female) and S. longiducta sp. nov. (male, female). All three new species were collected from native forest by hand.

Two Gram-positive actinobacterial strains, designated HA11166(T) and HA12420, were isolated from mangrove sediments in Hainan, China. The bacterial cells grew with 0-9 % (w/v) NaCl, at 15-40 °C and pH 5.0-10.0, with the optimum growth at 1 % NaCl, 30-37 °C and pH 7.0. The organisms had a range of chemical and morphological properties consistent with their classification in the genus Nocardiopsis. Phylogenetic analysis of the 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that strains HA11166(T) and HA12420 can be affiliated to the genus Nocardiopsis and most closely related to Nocardiopsis trehalosi VKM Ac-942(T) (with the similarity of 97.2 and 97.5 %, respectively). The value of DNA-DNA relatedness between type strain HA11166(T), selected as the representative strain, and N. trehalosi VKM Ac-942(T) was 38.8 %. The DNA G+C content of strain HA11166(T) was 73.7 %. On the basis of these phenotypic and genotypic data, strains HA11166(T) and HA12420 are proposed to represent a novel species of the genus Nocardiopsis, for which the name Nocardiopsis mangrovei sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is HA11166(T) (=CGMCC 4.7119(T)=DSM 46665(T)).

Two gram-positive, aerobic, spore-forming, rod-shaped bacteria, designated HB09003(T) and HB12160, were isolated from seawater and sediment in the northern South China Sea, respectively. Cells were found to be motile by means of peritrichous flagella. The strains were found to grow with 0-15 % (w/v) NaCl, at 10-45 °C and pH 5.0-10.7, with an optimum of 3 % NaCl, 28 °C and pH 8.5, respectively. The predominant isoprenoid quinone of strain HB09003(T), selected as the representative strain, was identified as MK-7. This strain was found to possess anteiso-C15:0, iso-C15:0, anteiso-C17:0 and C16:0 as the major fatty acids. The G+C contents of strain HB09003(T) and HB12160 were determined to be 34.1 and 34.3 mol%, respectively. Analysis of the 16S rRNA gene sequences of the two strains showed an affiliation with the genus Gracilibacillus, with Gracilibacillus kekensis CGMCC 1.10681(T) (similarity of 97.4, 98.0 %, respectively) and Gracilibacillus ureilyticus CGMCC 1.7727(T) (similarity of 97.1, 97.8 %, respectively) as their closest relatives. The DNA-DNA hybridization values between strain HB09003(T) and the two type strains were 42.2 and 54.1 %, respectively. On the basis of phenotypic and genotypic data, strain HB09003(T) and HB12160 are proposed to represent a novel species of the genus Gracilibacillus, for which the name Gracilibacillus marinus sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is HB09003(T) (=CGMCC 1.10343(T) = DSM 23372(T)).
