Purpose: The rising volume of open government data (OGD) contrasts with the limited acceptance and utilization of OGD among citizens. This study investigates the reasons for citizens' not using available OGD by comparing citizens' attitudes towards OGD with the development of OGD portals. The comparison includes four OGD utilization processes derived from the literature, namely OGD awareness, needs, access and consumption. Design/methodology/approach: A case study in China has been carried out. A sociological questionnaire was designed to collect data from Chinese citizens (demand), and personal visits were carried out to collect data from OGD portals (supply). Findings: Results show that Chinese citizens have low awareness of OGD and OGD portals. Significant differences were recognized between citizens' expectations and OGD portals development in OGD categories and features, data access services and support functions. Correlations were found between citizens' OGD awareness, needs, access and consumption. Originality/value: By linking the supply of OGD from the governments with each process of citizens' OGD utilization, this paper proposes a framework for citizens' OGD utilization lifecycle and provides a new tool to investigate reasons for citizens' not making use of OGD. Originating in China, the coronavirus has reached the world at different speeds and levels of strength. This paper provides an initial understanding of some driving factors and their consequences. Since transmission requires people, the human factor behind globalisation is essential. Globalisation, a major force behind global well‐being and equality, is highly associated with this factor. The analysis investigates the impact globalisation has on the speed of initial transmission to a country and on the scale of initial infections in the context of other driving factors. Our cross‐country analysis finds that measures of globalisation are positively related to the spread of the virus, both in speed and in scale. However, the study also finds that globalised countries are better equipped to keep fatality rates low. The conclusion is not to reduce globalisation to avoid pandemics, but to better monitor the human factor at the outbreak and mobilise collaboration forces to curtail diseases. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Uterine fibroids are the most common benign tumor in women, and surgical intervention is still the main fibroid treatment. Patient demands have encouraged development of less-invasive methods such as high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU). This study aimed to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of magnetic resonance-guided high-intensity focused ultrasound therapy using a volumetric ablation technique in the treatment of symptomatic uterine fibroids in China. Methods: One hundred and seven patients were enrolled and treated with magnetic resonance-guided highintensity focused ultrasound in this study. Clinical efficacy was based on the proportion of patients with fibroid shrinkage (10 % volume reduction or more compared to baseline) at 6 months post treatment as measured with magnetic resonance imaging. The quality of life and symptom outcome was assessed using the uterine fibroid symptom and quality of life questionnaire with symptom severity scoring. Safety was primarily assessed by evaluating the reported adverse events. Results: Ninety nine of the 107 treated patients had fibroid shrinkage at 6 months post treatment. Resulting in an overall 93 % (95 % confidence interval 86-97 %) treatment success rate, p value <0.001; the symptom severity scoring and health-related quality of life at 6 months was statistically different from the screening symptom severity scoring at 0.05 level. Of 366 adverse events reported, there were no study procedure-related or device-related serious adverse events were in the study. Conclusions: This study demonstrated that the volumetric magnetic resonance-guided high-intensity focused ultrasound device is safe and technically effective and can be utilized in clinically efficient treatments of symptomatic uterine fibroids. This paper analyzes the impact of volatility in the world energy price on aggregate economic activity in an unbalanced panel data framework for 10 developing Asian countries: Bangladesh, PR China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Thailand, Turkey and Vietnam. We use both the realized volatility and the generalized autoregressive conditional heteroskedasticity models to measure the volatility in the world energy price. Empirical findings from dynamic panel data estimations show that the volatility in world energy price is negatively associated with the aggregate economic activity. Using the common correlated effects panel estimation techniques, we also systematically examine uncertain transmission channel of the world energy price volatility on the aggregate economic activity in each economy and obtain the most impressive negative effects in Turkey, PR China and India, respectively. This paper provides a comprehensive and disaggregated set of elasticity estimates, to date, in the face of MFA abolishment. The estimates made here are at a detailed level of disaggregation and should provide researchers with opportunities for future analysis. We used the gravity model to estimate the trade elasticity of China’s apparel cottons in the US market for the period between 1989 and 2009. From the gravity model, two phenomena are observed. First, there exists a unique long-run equilibrium relationship among the import quantity demand, the import price and the US GDP per capita. Abstract. Applying the new panel unit root test developed in this paper, we can overcome the pitfalls of old-fashioned panel unit root tests making it possible for researchers testing individual series for a unit root while taking contemporaneous cross-sectional dependence and structural break into account. The proposed test was used to investigate the status of financial and real integration of China, Japan, UK, the European Union, and the United States based on the empirical validity of real interest parity, uncovered interest parity, and relative purchasing power parity. We found strong evidence in favor of those parity conditions and hence concluded that financial and real integration between China and the other four countries was well established using the new developed panel unit root test while the traditional tests (either univariate or panel) fail to do so. The relationships between nutrients and the trophic state of Borçka dam reservoir in the Çoruh River Basin, which is located in the Eastern Black Sea region of Turkey, were evaluated using the trophic state index (TSI), trophic level index (TLI), and statistical analysis. The samples data were analyzed for chlorophyll-a (Chl-a), total phosphorus (TP), total nitrogen (TN), and secchi disk (SD). In the evaluation, according to the TSI' TLI and Turkish legislation, the reservoir is assessed as mesotrophic in terms of TP, TN data of the water quality. The measurement results of these parameters are higher at the depth points and lower on the surface. The Chl-a parameter is evaluated mesotrophic with 2013 data at the depth, and oligotrophic with 2016 data. The result of TSI (Chl-a) < TSI (SD), TSI (Chl-a) < TSI (TP), and TSI (TN) indicate non-algal turbidity. At the same time, this was verified by calculating the non-algal turbidity coefficient (Kna). It is observed that there is a low correlation between Chl-a and Kna, however a low correlation with TN, and a high correlation with TP. Non-algal particles in the dam lake may occur due to surface runoff and soil erosion from the agricultural area and human settlements. Regression analysis was conducted to determine the relationship between nutrients and Chl-a. The relationship of Chl-a concentration with TN, TP, and TN/TP concentrations is weak. This supports that there are inorganic suspended solids (non-volatile suspended solids) with high underwater light availability.Graphical abstract.
