Purpose: Family history is one of the strongest risk factors for inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) while studies about the clinical phenotype of familial IBD are limited. This study aimed to compare the phenotypic features of familial Crohn's disease (CD) with sporadic CD. Methods: Familial CD was defined as CD patients having one or more first, second, third, fourth degree, or above relatives with CD. Sporadic CD patients hospitalized during the same period were matched 1:3 by age and gender. Differences in clinical characteristics, phenotype distribution, extraintestinal manifestations, and complications at diagnosis, as well as treatment regimen and surgery, were compared between familial and sporadic CD. Results: The familial CD was associated with a higher rate of past appendectomy history (P = 0.009), more intestinal perforation at onset (P = 0.012), more MRI results of anal lesion (P = 0.023), and gastrointestinal perforation (P = 0.040) at diagnosis, higher rate of past intestinal surgery history (P = 0.007), more number of intestinal surgeries (P = 0.037), longer duration of follow-up (P = 0.017), lower rate of taking biologicals for current maintenance (P = 0.043), lower tendency to upgrade to biologicals during follow-up (P = 0.013), higher possibility to experience gastrointestinal obstruction (P = 0.047), and abdominal abscess during follow-up (P = 0.045). Based on empirical analysis of 113 climate disasters affecting 3563 listed firms across 31 provinces in China from 2010 to 2022, as documented in the Emergency Events Database (EM-DAT), this study employs event study and multiple regression to explore the impact of proactive green innovation on firm climate resilience. By categorizing proactive green innovation into process and product innovation and climate resilience into short-term and long-term resilience, a proactive green innovation-firm climate resilience 2 × 2 matrix is constructed to provide innovative insights. This study reveals that proactive green innovation enhances firm climate resilience. Specifically, proactive green process innovation both enhances short-term and long-term climate resilience, while proactive green product innovation only enhances long-term rather than short-term climate resilience. Furthermore, climate disaster has inverted U-shaped interaction effect on the relationship between proactive green innovation and short-term climate resilience and U-shaped interaction effect on the relationship between proactive green innovation and long-term climate resilience. Additionally, this study also investigates the heterogeneous mechanisms of proactive green innovation enhancing short-term and long-term climate resilience based on network embeddedness theory and legitimacy theory. Maize ear rot, one of the most destructive diseases in summer‐sown maize areas of China, is caused by several Fusarium spp. Not only does this pathogen lower maize yields, but also negatively impacts both animal and human health through the production of fumonisin mycotoxins. In this study, we collected 472 unique isolates of F. verticillioides from 480 samples of maize ear rots across eight Chinese summer‐sown maize regions and evaluated their genetic variability and aggressiveness. Analysis of polymorphic intersimple sequence repeat (ISSR) loci revealed high levels of genetic variation, particularly in Henan and Shandong provinces. The STRUCTURE result showed that all F. verticillioides isolates clustered into three populations, rather than eight distinct geographical provinces, and there was no significant positive correlation between genetic distance and geographical distance. Most of the variation resulted from genetic differences within rather than between populations. Pathogenicity varied among the evaluated F. verticillioides isolates, and most isolates examined, caused a moderate level of disease; there was no strong correlation between pathogenicity and genetic diversity. This is the first comprehensive report of both the genetic variability and pathogenicity of F. verticillioides across the whole summer‐sown maize region in China. Objectives: Hyperhomocysteinemia (Hhcy) is a known cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factor. Observational studies had supported the role of lifestyle factors such as physical activity, diet and alcohol consumption in CVD prevention. Our study aimed to determine the relationship between Hhcy and lifestyle factors in general Chinese population.Methods: In this cross-sectional study, a total of 7135 adults (3320 men and 3815 women) aged 35 years or older were recruited from the rural Northeast China. Data on lifestyle factors, such as physical activities, sleep duration, current smoking and drinking status, dietary habits and familial factors were collected in interviews and laboratory examinations were performed by well-trained personnel.Results: Plasma total homocysteine (tHcy) level was higher in men than in women, and greater in the elderly than in other age groups. Subjects with Hhcy were more likely to be current smokers (men: OR 1.328, 95% CI 1.143-1.543, p<0.001; women: OR 1.465, 95% CI 1.214-1.767, p<0.001). Separately, men with Hhcy were more likely to have an education of primary school or below (OR 1.251, 95% CI 1.068-1.465, p=0.006) and less likely to eat more vegetables (OR 0.927, 95% CI 0.863-0.996, p=0.037) than the normal-tHcy participants. In women, participants with Hhcy were more likely to have longer sleeping time (>9h/d) (OR 1.677, 95% CI 1.292-2.177, p<0.001), low physical activity (OR 1.721, 95% CI 1.197-2.475, p=0.044) and increased diet score (OR 1.126, 95% CI 1.007-1.259, p=0.037) and less likely to be current drinkers (OR 0.488, 95% CI 0.297-0.802, p=0.005) than the normal-tHcy participants.Conclusion: Our study revealed that physical activity and current drinking status were not significantly associated with Hhcy in males, but inversely associated in females. In both genders, current smoking status and dietary habits were significantly associated with Hhcy. Our study supports existing recommendations for Chinese to maintain a physically active behaviors and healthy lifestyle habits. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives: This cross-sectional study aimed to determine the prevalence of elevated alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) in Chinese type 2 diabetic patients and identify contributing risk factors. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in rural areas of China, and 1,198 type 2 diabetic patients with complete data were recruited. Elevated ALT and AST levels were defined as >40 U/L. Prevalence of abnormal liver enzymes was analyzed and multivariable analysis was used to identify independent risk factors. Results: 10.3% and 6.1% diabetic patients had elevated ALT and elevated AST, respectively. The prevalence of elevated liver enzymes was gender-related; it was 13.8% in men and 7.5% in women for elevated ALT, and 7.4% in men and 3.1% in women for elevated AST. High triglyceride was positively associated with both elevated ALT (OR 1.80, 95% CI 1.08–3.01, p = 0.024) and elevated AST (OR 2.24, 95%CI 1.08–4.65, p = 0.031), while taking anti-diabetes medicine was inversely related to both elevated ALT (OR 0.48, 95% CI 0.29–0.80, p = 0.005) and elevated AST (OR 0.37, 95% CI 0.17–0.82, p = 0.014). The risk of elevated ALT in diabetic patients increased with the presence of obesity (OR 2.54, 95% CI 1.07–6.01, p = 0.034), and was lower in women (OR 0.37, 95% CI 0.19–0.72, p = 0.003). Hypertension (OR 4.33, 95% CI 1.41–13.30, p = 0.011), current drinking status (OR 2.90, 95% CI 1.21–6.96, p = 0.017) and national minority (OR 3.26, 95%CI 1.31–8.12, p = 0.011) were risk factors for elevated AST. Conclusion: A relatively high prevalence of abnormal serum liver enzymes in diabetic patients was demonstrated in China, especially in males. Abstract: Pepsinogen (PG) I and II are crucial in the gastric digestive processes. This study is to examine the relationship of serum PGI, PGII, and PGI/PGII ratio with Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection, age, sex, and body mass index (BMI) in subjects in Beijing, China.A total of 40,383 asymptomatic subjects, who underwent medical examination in Beijing Rehabilitation Hospital, were included in this study. Serum PG levels were measured using chemoluminescence techniques. The age, sex, and BMI data were collected, and Hp infection was identified with 13C-urea breath test. Statistical analysis was conducted with Python, Pandas and Seaborn software.Asymptomatic subjects with Hp infection (Hp+) had a significantly higher level of PGI in the serum (111 ng/mL [median]) than those without Hp infection (Hp-) (94 ng/mL, P < .001). The asymptomatic Hp+ subjects had 2-fold higher PGII levels (7.2 ng/mL) than Hp- subjects (3.2 ng/mL, P < .001). These changes produced significantly lower PGI/II ratio in Hp+ patients than in Hp- subjects (16:30, P < .001). The serum PGI and PGII levels were higher in males than in females (PGI: 104 ng/mL vs 95 ng/mL, PGII: 4.3 ng/mL vs 3.7 ng/mL, both P < .001), PGI/II ratio of males is at 95% of that in females (P < .001). PGI and PGII levels gradually increased in older people (P < .001), whereas the PGI/II ratio decreased significantly with age (P < .001). The levels of the two serum PGs were decreased and the ratio increased when BMI were higher than 28 kg/cm2 (P < .05).The levels of serum PGI, especial PGII, were increased by Hp infection, and also influenced by age, sex, and BMI.
