The analysis of the implementation effect of the supply-side reform (SSR) in the industrial sector of China's provinces and the reasons behind them are of great significance for China to formulate relevant policies in the future. However, this work has not yet been carried out. Industrial development performance is closely related to energy and environmental efficiency (EEE), and the effect of the SSR implementation is directly reflected in EEE. This study fills this gap by analyzing the EEE of 30 provinces in China from 2012 to 2017 using data envelopment analysis and Malmquist index methods. The results show that the positive effect of China's implementation of SSR has emerged. This positive effect is mainly reflected in the implementation of measures such as reducing overcapacity, which has promoted the technological innovation of enterprises. However, the low management level and resource-allocation efficiency hinder the further improvement of the implementation effect of the SSR, which should be paid special attention to in China's future supply-side reform. In addition, we believe that in the context of China's high-quality development and carbon neutrality goals, the SSR should be given more connotations, which are to increase the requirements for strengthening green and low-carbon development. Background: The standard treatment for esophageal carcinoma is extensive resection of the tumor and esophagogastric anastomosis despite the high incidence of related anastomotic complications, such as stricture and leakage. Thus, the choice of the cervical esophagogastric anastomotic method-triangulating stapling (TS) versus circular stapling (CS)-is a critical decision for the surgeon. Aim: To compare the incidence of major adverse outcomes between TS and CS in patients with resectable thoracic esophageal cancer. Methods: For this meta-analysis, PubMed, Embase, Wiley Online Library, Google Scholar, Wanfang, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure databases were searched for subject-relevant studies by using a rigorous study protocol established according to the recommendations of the Cochrane Handbook. Anastomotic leakage, anastomotic stricture, and postoperative pulmonary complications were the primary endpoints used for comparison. Relative risk (RR) with 95% confidence intervals (CI) were calculated to assess the strength of association. Results: Six studies were selected by our inclusion/exclusion criteria and represented a total of 739 patients in our meta-analysis of TS (n = 376) versus CS (n = 363). The TS group showed a lower incidence of anastomotic stricture (RR: 0.23 [95% CI: 0.08-0.63]; P = .004) and pulmonary complications (RR: 0.57 [95% CI: 0.37-0.87]; P = .01). However, the incidence of anastomotic leakage was similar for the two groups (RR: 0.66 [95% CI: 0.41-1.09]; P = .1). Subgroup analysis of four studies in which the surgical methods were minimally invasive demonstrated the TS group to have a lower incidence of lung complications (RR: 0.55 [95% CI: 0.35-0.87]; P = .01), anastomotic leakage (RR: 0.36 [95% CI: 0.18-0.74]; P = .005), and anastomotic stricture (RR: 0.23 [95% CI: 0.05-0.98]; P = .05). Conclusion: The TS method for cervical esophagogastric anastomosis after esophagectomy had a lower incidence of anastomotic stricture and postoperative lung complications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study analyzed the characteristics of BRAFV600E mutation in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) in Chinese coastal areas. We intended to identify noninvasive methods to determine BRAFV600E status in thyroid nodules prior to surgery. BRAFV600E mutation and the sonographic characteristics of thyroid nodules were investigated in 670 PTC patients in our hospital. We aimed to determine the relationship between BRAFV600E mutation and the clinicopathological and sonographic imaging characteristics of PTC. The mutation rate of the BRAFV600E was 78.2%. BRAFV600E mutation was significantly associated with central node (univariate analyses, P = .005; multivariate analyses, P < .001, odds ratio [OR] = 10.255) and lateral node metastases (univariate analyses, P = .001; multivariate analyses, P < .001, OR = 22). It was less frequent in PTC coexisting with Hashimoto's thyroiditis (univariate analyses, P = .016; multivariate analyses, P < .001, OR = .034). Nodules without blood flow had a significantly higher mutation rate of BRAFV600E in PTC patients (univariate analyses, P = .026). BRAFV600E mutation was significantly associated with high suspicion in the Thyroid Imaging Reporting and Data System 5 (univariate analyses, P = .004; multivariate analyses, P = .014, OR = 6.456). Our results strongly suggest that BRAFV600E mutation plays a potential role in lymph node metastasis (central node metastasis, OR = 10.225; lateral node metastasis, OR = 22). To understand the spatial distribution characteristics and potential ecological risk of heavy metals in soil of Baiyangdian Lake, 55 soil samples were collected and the contents of eight heavy metals (Mn, Cr, Cu, Zn, As, Cd, Pb, and Ni) were detected. The spatial variation structure and distribution pattern were analyzed using geostatistical methods (Moran index and semi-variance model). The degree of heavy metal pollution and its risk were assessed using the geoaccumulation index ( I geo ) and potential ecological risk index ( E r i and RI). The results showed that the average of ω (Mn), ω (Cr), ω (Cu), ω (Zn), ω (As), ω (Cd), ω (Pb), and ω (Ni) were 467.75, 43.59, 28.57, 89.04, 12.32, 0.18, 19.26, and 30.56 mg·kg -1 , respectively, all of which were lower than the screening values of soil pollution risk in agricultural land. However, the contents of Cu, Zn, and Cd were significantly higher than their background values, with two highly variable elements of Cu (48.65%) and Cd (37.52%). The Moran index indicated that Mn, Cu, Cd, and Pb showed weak spatial autocorrelation. Nugget coefficients of both of Cd and Pb shown by the semi-variance model were 100%, suggesting random variation as a main spatial variation driven by anthropogenic factors. High values of soil heavy metals were mainly distributed in the southwest of Baiyangdian Lake with a significant correlation between the heavy metals. The I geo of soil heavy metals from high to low was Cd>Cu>Zn>Ni>As>Pb>Mn>Cr. Cd pollution was the most common, in which 67.27% of the samples were lightly polluted. Ecological risk assessment revealed that the average E r i of Cd was 58.81, belonging to the middle ecological risk level, and the rest were at light ecological risk. As a whole, the RI of soil heavy metal pollution in Baiyangdian Lake was at a light ecological risk level (87.81), with the highest contribution rate of Cd to RI (66.39%). Thus, it is necessary to strengthen the control of soil heavy metal Cd pollution in Baiyangdian Lake in the future.

Total nitrogen pollution from land-based sources carried by rivers is the main source of inorganic nitrogen entering the sea. Inorganic nitrogen pollution in the coastal waters of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area(GBA) is a serious problem. The water quality of an adjacent large area of the sea is classified as poor-category Ⅳ. Therefore, clarification of the scale, structure, and discharge pressure of nitrogen emissions from the land area of the GBA is needed to manage marine nitrogen pollution. Based on multi-source data, including land use, socio-economic statistics, and pollution source census information, the scale, source structure, and regional differences of total nitrogen discharge in GBA and surrounding cities were evaluated using administrative and watershed units. The results show that:①The total nitrogen emissions from the study area are approximately 332500 t. Residential waste is the main source of pollution, accounting for 55.4%, followed by cultivation, with 28.18%, while the contribution from animal husbandry and industrial production is relatively limited. ②The regional differences of total nitrogen emissions are obvious, and the total emissions from GBA(231400 t) are significantly higher than those from neighboring cities(101100 t). ③The distribution of marine pollution and intensity of land-based nitrogen pollution emissions are spatially consistent, which indicates that there is a large number of pollution emissions in the East River Basin, Northwest River Delta Basin, and Tan River Basin; the shoreline sections belonging to the basins carry the greatest emission pressure, lead to serious pollution in the Lingding Sea, Jin Bay, and Huangmao Sea.

Tianxiong has been used as a Chinese medicinal in China for thousands of years, and the earliest record can be traced back to the Shennong's Classic of Materia Medica. It is effective in dispersing wind, dissipating cold, and replenishing fire to streng-then yang. To clarify the origin of Tianxiong, the present herbalogical study reviewed the ancient and modern literature from the origin, processing, and clinical efficacy. Before the Tang Dynasty, although the description of Tianxiong was quite superficial, an apparent difference between Tianxiong and Fuzi was recognized. In the Tang and Song Dynasties, Tianxiong and Fuzi were mistakenly recognized to be prepared from a same plant since their raw materials came from artificial cultivation. Medical literature in the Ming and Qing Dynasties mostly followed the previous records, with the origin of Tianxiong remaining controversial. There were three mainstream views about the origin of Tianxiong according the ancient medical books. First, Tianxiong was a kind of Aconiti Radix(Chuanwu) without attachment of Fuzi. Second, Tianxiong was the large Fuzi. Third, Tianxiong derived from Aconiti Kusnezoffii Radix(Caowu) about 10 cm in length. By contrast, Fuzi in a large size was simply regarded as Tianxiong in modern times. The processing methods were diversified in the ancient times, and the fire-processing was continuously applied. With the deepening of the research on the efficacy and detoxification mechanism, more methods were discovered, such as processing with ginger juice, child's urine and alcohol. As for modern times, the processing of Tianxiong has not been nearly passed down. The characteristic processing of Tianxiong only handed down in Sichuan province and Lingnan area, which can be discriminated by the last step. The efficacies of Tianxiong can be directly understood from its literal name, including dispersing wind, dissipating cold, and replenishing fire to assist yang. Nowadays, Tianxiong is mostly used to strengthen yang.

Background: Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection is a crucial risk factor for nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), but the mechanism for its elevated activation level in NPC endemic areas remains unclear. This study aims to identify the EBV natural variations contributed to the different reactivation potential between NPC endemic and non-endemic areas., Methods: 1030 subjects were recruited in China, including 303 healthy individuals from two NPC non-endemic areas, 483 healthy people from three endemic areas and 244 NPC patients. Among which, saliva DNA samples from 244 participants were sequenced for the EBV immediate early (IE) genes of BRLF1 and BZLF1, their promoters were included; the rest 786 subjects were used for the validation of significant variations among three different populations. Haplotype and population structure analysis were conducted. Dual-luciferase assay was used to detect the promoter activity., Results: A total of 246 distinct variations were detected, 29 showed significant difference in the frequencies between healthy people from NPC endemic area and non-endemic area. Population structure analysis clustered EBV strains into 9 subgroups mostly in accordance with the geographical origin of samples. Interestingly, two EBV genotypes, Rp-V1 and Rp-V2, were identified according to the linkage relationship of the variations in BRLF1 promoter (Rp). Rp-V1 has higher frequency in NPC endemic areas than in non-endemic areas (52.38% vs 18.15%, P = 2.07 × 10 -14 ), and was associated with higher oral EBV DNA levels (adjusted OR = 1.64, 95% CI = 1.21-2.24, P = .002), suggesting a more powerful activation ability of Rp-V1 than that of the prototype Rp-of the EBV strain; On the contrary, Rp-V2 has higher frequency in NPC non-endemic areas than in endemic areas (18.48% vs 0.38%, P = 1.17 × 10 -7 ), might represent a reduced activation potential of EBV. Further dual-luciferase assay showed Rp-V1 has higher promoter activity while compared with Rp-V2 (P < .0001). Notably, Rp-V1 impaired the transcription repression effect of YY1 while Rp-V2 strengthened the transcription repression effect of EBF1 on Rp. In addition, significant differences of Rta 393-407 CTL epitope which may influence the recognition of Rta by CD8+ T cells were detected between healthy people from NPC endemic area and non-endemic area., Conclusions: This study identified natural variations in cis-acting elements (YY1 and EBF1) of EBV Rp altering Rp transcription activities, which may contribute to the elevated EBV activation level in NPC endemic areas than non-endemic areas., (Copyright © 2018. Background: New-onset hyperglycemia (NOH) is a common phenomenon after liver transplantation (LT), but its impact on clinical outcomes has not yet been fully assessed. We aimed to evaluate the etiology and prognosis of NOH within 1 month after LT., Methods: The data of 3339 adult patients who underwent primary LT from donation after citizen death between January 2010 and June 2016 were extracted from China Liver Transplant Registry database and analyzed. NOH was defined as fasting blood glucose ≥7.0 mmol/L confirmed on at least two occasions within the first post-transplant month with or without hypoglycemic agent., Results: Of 3339 liver recipients, 1416 (42.4%) developed NOH. Recipients with NOH had higher incidence of post-transplant complications such as graft and kidney failure, infection, biliary stricture, cholangitis, and tumor recurrence in a glucose concentration-dependent manner as compared to non-NOH recipients (P < 0.05). The independent risk factors of NOH were donor warm ischemic time >10 min, cold ischemic time >10 h, anhepatic time >60 min, recipient model for end-stage liver disease score >30, moderate ascites and corticosteroid usage (P < 0.05). Liver enzymes (alanine aminotransferase and gamma-glutamyltranspeptidase) on post-transplant day 7 significantly correlated with NOH (P < 0.001)., Conclusions: NOH leads to increased morbidity and mortality in liver recipients. Close surveillance and tight control of blood glucose are desiderated immediately following LT particularly in those with delayed graft function and receiving corticosteroid. Breast cancer is diverse in their natural history and in their responsiveness to treatments. It is urgent to generate candidate biomarkers for the stratification of patients and personalization of therapy to avoid overtreatment or inadequate treatment. Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been found to be pervasively transcribed in the genome and played critical roles in cancer progression. A lot of lncRNAs have been reported as potential prognostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets in multiple cancers. In this study, we demonstrated that FGF14 antisense RNA 2 (FGF14-AS2), a novel long non-coding RNA, was significantly down-regulated in breast cancer tissue compared with adjacent normal tissue both in validated cohort and TCGA cohort. Reduced expression of FGF14-AS2 was correlated with larger tumor size, more lymph node metastasis and advanced clinical stage in both cohorts. Kaplan-Meier analysis indicated that patients with lower FGF14-AS2 expression had a worse overall survival. Moreover, multivariate analysis revealed that decreased expression of FGF14-AS2 was an independent predictor of overall survival. Together, these results suggested that FGF14-AS2 involved in the progress of breast cancer and might act as a tumor suppressor gene. To the best of our knowledge, it was firstly reported that FGF14-AS2 was involved in cancer.
