Introduction: Phylogenetic relatedness is one of the important factors in the community assembly process. Here, we aimed to understand the large-scale phylogenetic relationship between alien plant species at different stages of the invasion process and how these relationships change in response to the environmental filtering process at multiple spatial scales and different phylogenetic extents. Methods: We identified the alien species in three invasion stages, namely invasive, naturalized, and introduced, in China. The occurrence records of the species were used to quantify two abundance-based phylogenetic metrics [the net relatedness index (NRI) and the nearest taxon index (NTI)] from a highly resolved phylogenetic tree. The metrics were compared between the three categories of alien species. Generalized linear models were used to test the effect of climate on the phylogenetic pattern. All analyses were conducted at four spatial scales and for three major angiosperm families. Results: We observed significantly higher NRI and NTI values at finer spatial scales, indicating the formation of more clustered assemblages of phylogenetically closely related species in response to the environmental filtering process. Positive NTI values for the invasive and naturalized aliens suggested that the presence of a close relative in the community may help the successful naturalization and invasion of the introduced alien species. In the twodimensional phylogenetic space, the invasive species communities significantly differed from the naturalized and introduced species, indicating that established alien species need to be phylogenetically different to become invasive. Positive phylogenetic measures for the invasive aliens across the spatial scales suggested that the presence of invasive aliens could facilitate the establishment of other invasive species. Phylogenetic relatedness was more influenced by temperature than precipitation, especially at a finer spatial scale. With decreased temperature, the invasive species showed a more clustered assemblage, indicating conservatism of their phylogenetic niche. The phylogenetic pattern was different at the family level, although there was a consistent tendency across families to form more clustered assemblages. Discussion: Overall, our study showed that the community assemblage became more clustered with the progression of the invasion process. The phylogenetic measures varied at spatial and taxonomic scales, thereby highlighting the importance of assessing phylogenetic patterns at different gradients of the community assembly process. China has witnessed 556 million people migrating to urban areas over the past three decades with the process of urbanization, which has brought enormous pressure on electricity consumption and urban sustainable development. This paper establishes the generalized Divisia Index Decomposition Method (GDIM) model, and aims to reveal the electricity consumption mechanism of urban residents in China between 2000 and 2018. The results show that residential income, per capita electricity consumption and residential appliances are the main driving factors for the growth of urban residential electricity consumption, while the energy-saving willingness and expenditure structure have the inhibiting effect. With the expansion of urban residential income, the increase in income and air-conditioning numbers will continue to promote the growth of urban residential electricity consumption. Then, this paper puts forward relevant suggestions to alleviate the pressure of electricity demand and sustainable development from urban residents in China. Exploring for hydrocarbons in a pyroclastic-affected reservoir is an important research topic. Previous studies have mainly focused on laminated pyroclastic. A large number of dispersed pyroclastic is present in sedimentary rocks, and dispersed volcanic ash strongly influences the diagenetic evolution of sandstone reservoirs. However, these aspects remain understudied. We studied the mechanism of the diagenetic evolution of the Jurassic tuffaceous sandstone reservoir in Qikou Sag of the Bohai Bay Basin by performing inclusion temperature measurements, rock slice identification, and scanning electron microscopy, and using electron microprobes and microzone isotopes. We determined the mechanism of water-rock interaction. Based on microscopic observations, we determined that the main diagenesis included two-stage dolomite cementation, two-stage calcite cementation, quartz cementation, and transformation and dissolution of clay minerals. The hydrolysis and chemical transformation of pyroclastic during burial not only provided an alkaline environment in the early stage of diagenesis but also supplied ions for the formation of microcrystalline quartz and early dolomite and the transformation of clay minerals. Leaching and denudation generated early dissolution caused by a tectonic uplift. Following the epigenetic stage, microbial activity stimulated the formation of early calcite during the shallow burial stage. When the burial temperature of the stratum was 80 °C, the acidic fluid discharged from the thermal evolution of organic matter was neutralized by the soluble components in the pyroclastic, which prevented the formation of a large-scale acidic environment. When the burial temperature exceeded 100 °C, the acidic fluid generated by thermal catalytic decarboxylation of organic matter formed a large quantity of dissolution. A new orchid species, Hemipilia avisoides, is described from Songpan County and Maoxian County, Sichuan Province, China. Morphologically, H. avisoides is most similar to H. hui, but can be distinguished by the combination of its involute middle lip lobe that is smaller than the lateral lobes, floral bracts that are 5 mm long and are always shorter than the ovary, a leaf that is appressed to the substrate and is adaxially green with white lines along 7-9 principal veins and the subterranean stem with a solitary sheath at its base. Red tide is a marine phenomenon caused by the excessive growth of microscopic algae in the ocean. This study aims to analyze the development trends of red tides in the past 20 years and the dynamic external causes that induce red tides based on existing satellite remote sensing and numerical simulation data. And the changes in dominant species of red tides in different seasons are analyzed. The results show significant temperature fluctuations within the week before the red tide occurs, with an average increase of 1.42 °C. In contrast, the change in salinity is relatively small. Meanwhile, ocean fronts are areas in the ocean where different water masses meet and form boundaries. The average strength of ocean fronts increased by 3.7%, indicating enhanced ocean mixing over a short period of time. Under the combined influence of these factors, the probability of a red tide outbreak in the East China Sea increases rapidly. Background: As a key enzyme of natriuretic peptides system playing an integral role in energy homeostasis, furin may be a potential contributor to obesity. However, the association between furin and obesity has been scarcely studied. This study aims to examine the prospective association between serum furin and abdominal obesity.Methods: Waist circumference (WC) was measured twice 4 years apart for a total of 892 Chinese adults free of abdominal obesity at baseline. Abdominal obesity was defined as WC over 85 cm for men and as WC over 80 cm for women. A Cox proportional hazard model was constructed to examine the association of baseline serum furin with incident abdominal obesity.Results: After an average 4 years of follow-up, 184 participants developed new abdominal obesity. Baseline serum furin was significantly associated with dynamic body weight during follow-up (β=-0.593, p=0.003). Participants with a higher level of serum furin at baseline were less likely to develop new abdominal obesity compared with those with a lower level of serum furin (HR=0.81, 95% CI 0.67 to 0.97).Conclusions: A lower level of serum furin predicts a higher risk of developing future abdominal obesity in Chinese adults. Abstract A full understand of the influential mechanism concerning electricity consumption has a crucial political reference significance for the implementation of energy conservation and consumption reduction policies. To solve the lack of correlation between the empirical results of the research regions in present researches, this paper takes China's electricity consumption from 1995 to 2016 as the research subject, uses Multi-period ST-LMDI model by setting a unified reference province as a benchmark for different regions in China to completely decompose the changes in China's electricity consumption, and further analyzes the influence mechanism of China's electricity consumption changes by combining the characteristics of the departments and regions. As the result, it's found that the economic growth has a strong impetus for power consumption while the technological progress can effectively curb it. Meanwhile, results of studying electricity consumption from the perspective of industry and region show that the economic structure and consumption intensity have obviously different influences in the eastern, central and western regions. So when it comes to formulate the policy for electricity development and reform, the characteristics of industrial structure as well as the regional differences must be taken into consideration. Tamusu uranium deposit is located in Yingejing sag in the Bayingobi basin. A rift type structural slope zone developed northwest of the sag. Based on the study of the lithology, lithofacies, whole rock geochemistry, and fluid inclusion characteristics of the deposit, a paragenetic association sequence of altered minerals in the deposit was established, and the characteristics of the source, temperature, salinity, and evolution of the ore-forming fluid in the deposit were discussed. The stratigraphic assemblage structure of the lower member of the Bayingobi Formation (falling-stage system tract, lowstand system tract, and transgressive system tract) laid the foundation for uranium mineralization. The uranium mineralization period of ore deposit can be divided into three stages. The altered mineral assemblages of Stage 1 are mainly composed of hematite, dolomite, iron-bearing dolomite, ankerite, fluorite, euhedral pyrite, and metal sulfide. Stage 2 altered mineral assemblages are dominated by limonite, euhedral-subhedral pyrite, and gypsum. The altered mineral assemblages of Stage 3 are mainly composed of layered gypsum, celestite, and barite. The early uranium ore-forming fluid mainly originated from the deep basin and percolated along the fault and sand body of the lowstand system tract to form uranium orebodies. The fluid inclusion temperature of ore-forming fluid was 211–140 ℃, and the salinity was 4.49%–16.24%. The temperature gradually decreased as the ore-forming fluid evolved, and CO 2 was released, causing dolomite, calcite, fluorite, and other minerals to precipitate in the sandstone pores. The late ore-forming fluid mainly originated from supergene oxygen water, which migrated into the basin along the erosion window at the edge of the sag. The fluid inclusion temperature of ore-forming fluid was 100–130 ℃, the salinity was 2.24%–7.02%, and the average was 4.49%. In the late stage of the supergene fluid, the fluid inclusion temperature was 55–79 ℃, and the salinity was 4.96%–5.11%. The ore-forming fluid of the deposit gradually decreased in temperature from the early stage to the late stage of mineralization. In addition, the salinity gradually evolved from high in the early stage to low and evolved to high in the late stage. Sulfophile, lithophile, and rare earth elements precipitated first in the process of fluid action, followed by U, and Sc increased with the U content. A uranium metallogenic model of the deposit was established based on the relationship between the structural, lithology, mineralization alteration, fluid evolution, and uranium mineralization of the basin. A grey forecasting model based on convolution integral (GMC(1,  n )) is an accurate grey multivariable model, which is derived from the GM(1,  n ) model by adding a control parameter u. n interpolation coefficients, as unknown parameters, are input into the background values of the n variables so as to improve the adaptability of GMC(1,  n ) on real data. In addition, a nonlinear optimization model is constructed to obtain the optimal parameters that can minimize the modelling error. The modelling and forecasting results as applied to China's industrial energy consumption show that the optimized grey multivariable model exhibits a higher accuracy than GMC(1,  n ), SARMA and GM(1, 1). Background: Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is a highly lethal cancer, and its underlying molecular mechanisms are poorly understood. Recent large-scale genome-wide association studies in Chinese Han populations have identified an ESCC susceptibility locus within the SLC39A6 gene. Here, we sought to explore the expression and biological function of SLC39A6 in ESCC.Methods: Multiethnic validation of SLC39A6 protein expression was performed in different cohorts of patients from Chinese Han and Kazakh populations in the Xinjiang region by immunohistochemistry. The associations among SLC39A6 expression, clinicopathological parameters, and prognosis outcomes of ESCC were analyzed. And the effects of SLC39A6 silencing by siRNA on cell proliferation, apoptosis, and invasiveness, as well as the proteins involved in epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) of esophageal cancer cells, were studied.Results: SLC39A6 protein expression increased progressively from normal esophageal epithelium (NEE) to low-grade intraepithelial neoplasia to ESCC, and finally reached the highest in high-grade intraepithelial neoplasia from Han ethnic. Similarly, SLC39A6 protein was significantly overexpressed in Kazakh ethnic ESCC compared with that in NEE. Increased expression of SLC39A6 was found to be closely correlated with histological grade and early Tumor-Node-Metastasis stage I/II. High tumorous SLC39A6 expression was significantly correlated with shorter overall survival (OS). Cox regression analysis confirmed that SLC39A6 expression was an independent prognostic factor for poor OS in ESCC. Experimentally, the suppression of SLC39A6 expression promoted ESCC cell apoptosis but abrogated proliferation and invasion, and induced an EMT phenotype that included enhanced expression of E-cadherin, loss of vimentin, and morphological changes in ESCC cells in vitro.Conclusions: Combined, our findings highlight a tumor-promoting role for SLC39A6 in ESCC, suggesting that SLC39A6 could serve as an early detector of high-risk subjects and prognostic biomarker. BACKGROUND Corin has been suggested to be associated with hypertension by celland animal-based studies. However, the association still lacks population- based evidence which critically promotes translation from basic research to clinical and preventive practice. Here, we aimed to explore the association in a general population of China. METHODS From January to May 2010, we conducted a cross-sectional study in 2,498 participants aged above 30 years, residing in Gusu district of Suzhou. Serum soluble corin and blood pressure were measured. RESULTS Hypertensive participants had a higher level of serum corin than nonhypertensive participants (median (interquartile range): 1,836.83 (1,497.85-2,327.87) pg/ml vs. 1,579.14 (1,322.18-1,956.82) pg/ml, P < 0.001). Higher serum corin was positively associated with prevalent hypertension (odds ratio (OR) = 2.01, P < 0.001). In the multiple analysis, participants in the third (OR = 1.43, P = 0.007) and fourth (OR = 1.96, P < 0.001) quartiles had significantly increased odds of hypertension compared to those in the lowest quartile of serum corin. ORs of hypertension positively and significantly increased with serum corin levels (P for trend <0.001). Further subgroup analysis showed that ORs of hypertension associated with high corin (over the median level of serum corin: 1,689.20 pg/ml) were still significant in subgroups by age, body mass index, total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and fasting plasma glucose (all P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS Our study showed that hypertensive participants had an increased serum corin level compared to those without hypertension. The Central Asian orogenic belt is an accretionary orogenic belt that lies between the Siberian block and the Tarim and North China blocks. Since the central south of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt has been covered by desert and the Meso-Cenozoic Bayingobi Basin, its spatial configuration, evolution, closure time, and the Paleo-Asian ocean location have not been well described. Through zircon U Pb dating, in-situ Hf isotope and rock geochemistry of the Lower Cretaceous Bayingobi Formation sandstones, the provenance of the Bayingobi Formation, and the central south boundary of the Central Asian orogenic belt were determined, the tectonic evolution process was discussed, and the tectonic evolution models were established. The provenance of the Bayingobi Formation mainly originated from Permian to Early Triassic granodiorite, diorite and potassium feldspar granite that cover a large area of the Zongnaishan-Shalazhashan tectonic belt. In the early Permian, this tectonic belt was mainly a continental island arc but gradually transitioned to a continental active margin, accompanied by intense tectonic magmatic activity. With the boundary as the Quagan Qulu ophiolite belt, the north is the Central Asian Orogenic Belt that mainly exhibits juvenile crustal materials, while the south is the Alxa block, which has an affinity with the North China block, and mainly exhibits older crustal materials. From the late Carboniferous to the early Permian, the Paleo-Asian Ocean plate was compressed, subducted along the Enger Us suture, and magmatic distributed along the Nuru-Langshan tectonic belt; from the late early Permian to late Permian, the Paleo-Asian Ocean plate rolled back, changing the subduction zone stress state from compression to extension. During this period, there were large-scale developments of magmatic rocks in the Zongnaishan-Shalazhashan tectonic belt. From early Early Triassic to Middle Triassic period, the Siberian active margin collided with the Alxa block, the Paleo-Asian Ocean was closed, and the overlying Alxa plate experienced lithospheric extension and thinning, accompanied by asthenospheric upwelling, partial melting and the addition of new crustal material. The Meso-Cenozoic basin sediments along the original suture belt are characterized by an enrichment of large ion lithosphere elements, a loss of high field strength elements, LREE enrichment and loss of HREE. Based on the analysis of mercury injection capillary pressure (MICP) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) experimental data for core plugs, which were drilled from two Chinese tight sandstone reservoirs, permeability prediction models, such as the classical SDR, Timur-Coates, the Swanson parameter, the Capillary Parachor, the R10 and R35 models, are calibrated to estimating permeabilities from field NMR logs, and the applicabilities of these permeability prediction models are compared. The processing results of several field examples show that the SDR model is unavailable in tight sandstone reservoirs. The Timur-Coates model is effective once the optimal T2cutoff can be acquired to accurately calculate FFI and BVI from field NMR logs. The Swanson parameter model and the Capillary Parachor model are not always available in tight sandstone reservoirs. The R35 based model cannot effectively work in tight sandstone reservoirs, while the R10 based model is optimal in permeability prediction. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Thin-walled cylindrical shells subjected to axial compression are sensitive to initial geometrical imperfections. Firstly, the influence of a single dimple imperfection on the load-carrying capacity of cylindrical shells is investigated by varying the amplitudes, directions and positions of the dimple imperfection. Then a single delta function is introduced to describe the profile of the dimple imperfection in a more general form, which enables to analyze conveniently the effect of the imperfect zone area on the load-carrying capacity of cylindrical shells. Thereafter, a surrogate-based optimization framework of determining the worst realistic imperfection is proposed to study the reduction of the buckling load of cylindrical shells based on a finite number of dimple imperfections. The possible dimple imperfections may be introduced during the service of cylindrical shells. Finally the effectiveness of the present method is demonstrated by an illustrative example. Invasive alien plants increase both plant N and soil inorganic N pools in many terrestrial ecosystems. This is believed to be the result of altered plant-soil-microbe feedbacks that accelerate N cycling. However, it may also be due to the greater ability of invasive species to uptake lateral N subsidies that can modify ecosystem N dynamics. We conducted manipulative field experiments to determine the impact of smooth cordgrass ( Spartina alterniflora) invasion on the N cycling of salt marsh ecosystems in the Yangtze Estuary, China. The results showed that the aboveground plant N and soil inorganic N pools in S. alterniflora marshes, 14.39 and 3.16 g N m, were significantly higher than those in native common reed ( Phragmites australis) marshes, 11.61 and 2.29 g N m. These increases after invasion were explained by a significantly higher uptake of dissolved inorganic N (DIN) from tidal subsidies in S. alterniflora marshes (6.59 g N m) than from those in P. australis marshes (1.61 g N m), and not by soil organic N mineralization, which was not significantly different between S. alterniflora (6.45 g N m) and P. australis marshes (6.84 g N m) during the growing season. Our study indicated that the ecosystem engineering effects of S. alterniflora, which increases the interception of external N input, can be an alternative mechanism that increases plant N and soil inorganic N pools-especially in ecosystems with ample anthropogenic N subsidies, such as the coastal wetlands of China. Abstract: The relationships between climate, topography, and erosion are significant in understanding landscape evolution. In order to study this relationship in a tectonically active landscape, the details of 11 drainage basins were collected from Qilian Shan Mountains. Decadal-scale erosion rates, including the mechanical load and solute load contributions, are estimated in natural conditions. The calculated erosion rates show that the average erosion rate of Qilian Shan Mountains is about 0.08mm/yr, while the variation of annual erosion rates within each basin is significant. The changes of topography and climate, which potentially control erosion rates, are also employed in this paper for correlating analyses. Correlation analyses indicate that erosion rates are more closely correlated with topographic variables, such as mean local relief and mean slope, than all of the climatic variables; and mean local relief and decadal-scale erosion rates show a linear relationship in these tectonically active mountains. However, some topographic variables like basin area and elongation ratio exert limited influence on erosion rates; while others, such as basin elevation, basin relief and basin roughness, show poor correlation. The results indicate that topographic control, like aspects of the local terrain steepness, plays the most important role in spatial distribution of decadal-scale erosion rates throughout Qilian Shan Mountains. Under topographic control, some climatic variables, like discharge and runoff, however, could account for the significant variation of annual erosion rates in individual basin. When comparing erosion rates on different timescales, we found that the decadal-scale erosion rates are lower than the long-term river incision rates, as well as the exhumation rates during early and middle Miocene. The change to more arid climatic condition since the middle Miocene combining with tectonic uplift should attribute to the inconsistent erosion rates over different timescales in Qilian Shan Mountains. Background and Objective: Little is known about the outcome of catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation (AF) in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM). We investigated the safety and efficacy of catheter ablation of AF in patients with DM.Materials and Methods: Thirty one patients with DM from a group of 263 consecutive patients undergoing a first-time catheter ablation of AF procedure were enrolled in a prospective study. The ablation protocol (guided by CARTO system) consisted in two continuous circular lesions around ipsilateral pulmonary veins.Results: The following clinical characteristics differed between DM and no-DM patients: age (62.0 +/- 10.8 vs. 56.1 +/- 10.6 years, P = 0.004), longer AF history (9.6 +/- 9.3 vs. 6.7 +/- 6.3 years, P = 0.024), significantly larger left atrium size (41.1 +/- 7.8 vs. 38.3 +/- 5.8 mm, P = 0.021), hypertension (58.1 vs. 35.8%, P = 0.018) and structural heart disease (67.7 vs. 43.5%, P = 0.011). Despite a similar AF recurrence rate in DM and no-DM patients (32.3 vs. 22.4%, P = 0.240), the ablation procedure was complicated in 28 patients (11 hematomas, three cardiac tamponades and three strokes) and the incidence of complications was significantly higher in DM than in no-DM patients (29.0 vs. 8.2%, respectively, P = 0.002). Multivariate analysis showed that DM was an independent risk factor for complications occurrence (odd ratio 5.936, 95% confidence interval 2.059 to 17.112, P = 0.001).Conclusions: First catheter ablation of AF procedure in DM patients was equally efficacious than in no-DM patients. To elucidate the potential factors modulating exposure to aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) in three Chinese populations, an epidemiologic study was conducted in Fusui County and Nanning City of Guangxi Province and Chengdu City of Sichuan Province. The incidence rates of hepatocelluar carcinoma (HCC) for males in these three regions were 92-97 per 100,000, 32-47 per 100,000, and 21 per 100,000, respectively. Eighty-nine residents from Fusui, 196 residents from Nanning, and 118 residents from Chengdu were screened for AFB1-albumin adduct (AAA) levels and hepatitis virus (HBV, HCV, HDV, HEV, and HGV) infections, as well as liver biochemistry (alanine aminotransferase [ALT], aspartate aminotransferase [AST], alkaline phosphatase [ALP], y-glutamyl transpeptidase [GGT], 5'-nucleotidase, globulin [GLO], direct bilirubin, indirect bilirubin, and bile acid levels). At least one marker of hepatitis virus (HV) infection was present in 47.2% (42/89) of subjects from Fusui, while in Nanning and Chengdu the values were 15.8% (31/196) and 22.0% (26/118), respectively. In contrast to females, a higher level of AAA was observed in males; the difference was statistically significant in both the Nanning (P = 0.023) and the Chengdu (P = 0.026) subjects. In the Chengdu group, there was a significantly higher level of AAA in cases with HV infection (P = 0.041). There was a close association between AAA level and BMI in the adults without HV infection (r = 0.148, P = 0.044). Also, AAA was closely associated with DBIL and GGT in non-HV-infected minors (P < 0.05), closely associated with ALB, GLO, and GGT in HV-infected minors (P < 0.05), and closely associated with IBIL, GLO, TBA, and AST in non-HV-infected adults (P < 0.01). The co-effect of HV infection and AFB1 exposure may be responsible for the high risk of HCC in the Fusui region, whereas age, gender, BMI, and HV infection may modify individual aflatoxin levels. The relationship between AAA level and liver biochemistry indicates injury induced by aflatoxin to both hepatic parenchyma and biliary tract. The government predicts that the supply-demand relationship of electricity consumption will remain tense in China's three key economic regions. And the significant differences of many economic indicators indicate that change mechanism of electricity consumption of the three regions is different from that of others. Due to the limitation of continuous multiplication, the logarithmic mean weight Divisia index method cannot take into account the effect of some quantitative factors simultaneously, so how to disclose the mechanism of electricity consumption and provide its complete explanation is a pressing issue. To bridge these knowledge gap, we study on impacts of electricity consumption in China's key economic regions by establishing Generalized Divisia Index model, which take the three quantitative factors of output, capital, and labor as the basic variables. The results show mainly that all three quantitative factors have stimulatory effects on electricity consumption, with capital having the greatest effect on electricity consumption. All five relative factors, apart from per capita electricity consumption, have inhibitory effects on electricity consumption. Then, we conclude that the major measure of alleviating the pressure of electricity consumption in the key areas is not only to reduce inefficient and low-end supplies but also to avoid excessive investment. Coal-to-gas switch in the electricity sector is of great significance for tackling air pollution and mitigating climate change, but the evidences for the provincial or regional coal-to-gas switch potentials are still lacked in China. Using the generator level data, this study develops three optimization models to estimate the physical, economic and environmental potentials of coal-to-gas switch. Key findings of this study are summarized as follows: (1) The maximum physical potentials of coal-to-gas switch are 364.78 TWh, representing 8.79% of the total coal generation in 2017. (2) Spatial distributions of the estimated switch potentials are very uneven, EastChina grid region has larger switch potentials, while Northwest China grid region holds smaller switch potentials. (3) The switching point comes with the reductions of gas prices (20%–30%) and the internalization of carbon emission cost (100 yuan/ton to 200 yuan/ton). Mutations in NYX and CACNA1F gene are responsible for the X-linked congenital stationary night blindness (CSNB). In this study, we described the clinical characters of the two Chinese families with X-linked CSNB and detected two novel mutations of c. 371_377delGCTACCT and c.214A>C in the NYX gene by direct sequencing. These two mutations would expand the mutation spectrum of NYX. Our study would be helpful for further studying molecular pathogenesis of CSNB. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: It is difficult to obtain rock resistivity parameters by using the cross plots of porosity vs. formation factor and water saturation vs. resistivity index to calculate reservoir water saturation in low permeability sandstones. The cementation and saturation exponents (m and n separately) are divergent, and no fixed values can be obtained due to the complicated pore structure. This leads to a problem in water saturation calculation. To investigate the main factors that heavily affect the cementation and saturation exponents, 36 core samples, which were drilled from low permeability sands of Xujiahe Formation, Sichuan basin, southwest China, are chosen for laboratory resistivity and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) measurements, 20 of them for mercury injection capillary pressure (MICP) measurements and 10 of them for casting thin-section analysis. The results show that these two parameters are associated with rock pore structure. For rocks with good pore structure, the proportion of macropore components is dominant, high cementation exponents and low saturation exponents can be obtained, and on the contrary, rocks with poor pore structure will be dominated by the proportion of small pore components, and they will contain low cementation exponents and high saturation exponents. To quantitatively acquire reliable cementation and saturation exponents for water saturation estimation, a logarithmic function is established to calculate cementation exponent from porosity. Irreducible water saturation (S wi), which is estimated from NMR logs by using the optimal T 2cutoff, is presented to characterize the proportion of small pore components. A technique of calculating saturation exponent by combining with S wi, (1−S wi) and the logarithmic mean of NMR T 2 spectrum (T 2lm) is proposed, and the corresponding model is established. The credibility of these techniques is confirmed by comparing the predicted cementation and saturation exponents with the core analyzed results. The absolute errors between the predicted cementation exponents and the experimental results are lower than 0.08, and the absolute errors between the predicted saturation exponents and the experimental results are lower than 0.2. These techniques proposed in this study are extended to several low permeability sands for field applications; the field examples illustrate that cementation and saturation exponents can be accurately estimated in the intervals with which NMR logs were acquired. By using the variable rock resistivity parameters, precisely water saturation can be calculated for low permeability sandstones evaluation. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Objective: To investigate the effects of orthokeratology lenses (OK lenses) on corneal biomechanics in subjects of different ages., Methods: Fifty subjects with mild to moderate myopia were categorized into three groups (Group I-III) based on their age. Corvis ST was used to collect dynamic corneal response parameters (DCRs) at different follow-up time points. Repeated measures analysis of variance combined with simple effect analysis was used to analyze the changes in DCRs in different groups during the follow-up period. Multiple linear regression analysis was used to analyze the correlations between axial length growth (ALG) at 6 months (ALG-6M) or 12 months (ALG-12M) and sex, baseline spherical equivalent refraction (SER), and DCRs., Results: The DCRs changed in all three groups after wearing OK lenses. Most DCRs showed significant differences between baseline and 6 months after wearing OK lenses, while the differences between DCRs at 6 months and 12 months were not statistically significant. No significant differences in DCRs were observed among the three groups at the same follow-up time point. Additionally, at 6 months post-OK lens wear, ALG-6M was significantly correlated with velocity of the corneal apex at the first applanation (A1V-6M) (P = 0.002), Corvis biomechanical index (CBI-6M) (P = 0.004), the maximum amount of corneal movement (DAM-6M) (P = 0.010), deformation amplitude ratio of 2 mm (DAR2-6M) (P = 0.010), and stress-strain index (SSI-6M) (P = 0.038) in Group I. Furthermore, ALG-12M showed significant correlations with SSI-6M (P = 0.031), peak distance at the DAM (PD)-6M (P = 0.037), baseline Ambrósio Relational Thickness to the horizontal profile (P = 0.013) in Group I., Conclusions: The majority of DCRs displayed significant changes within the initial 6 months of OK lens wear. Minimal variation in DCRs was observed across different age groups at the same follow-up time point. A simple and rapid method for screening of tyrosinase (TYR) inhibitors present in traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs) was developed by combining ligand fishing and the fluorescent enzymatic assay based on dopamine-functionalized carbon quantum dots (CQDs-Dopa). Ligands of the enzyme present in the TCM extractions were firstly adsorbed on the enzyme-modified magnetic beads, and then the beads were magnetically separated and subjected directly to the CQDs-Dopa-based fluorescent assay. Finally, compounds were desorbed from the "active" beads and identified with ultra-performance liquid chromatography-triple quadrupole mass spectrometry. A known natural TYR inhibitor quercetin was selected to assess the feasibility and quantification performance of this method, and good linearity in the range of 0.01-0.16 mM (R 2  = 0.992) with a low detection limit of 0.004 mM was obtained. This method was then applied to screen TYR inhibitors present in Scutellaria baicalensis and Sophora flavescens. Six TYR inhibitors including baicalin (1), baicalein (2), wogonin (3), oroxylin A (4), kurarinone (5), and sophoraflavanone G (6) were found, among which 1-4 were firstly discovered in this work. This is the first report on the in situ assessment of the target compounds obtained by ligand fishing in the form of a mixture, which exhibited the combined advantages of specific extraction ability of ligand fishing and the high sensitivity of CQDs-based fluorescent assay, showing great potential for fast screening of enzyme inhibitors from TCMs., (© 2022. The porcine circovirus type 3 (PCV3) becomes an important causative agent of swine disease since its discovery in 2016. PCV3 infection exhibits a wide range of clinical syndromes causing substantial economic losses in swine industry. Previous studies have reported the detection of numerous known viruses including circovirus in mosquitoes. However, the transmission of PCV3 in field-caught mosquitoes remains largely unknown. This study aims to detect PCV3 infection in mosquitoes and analyze its genomic characteristics. Here, we performed a PCR to detect the PCV3 in 269 mosquito samples collected from pig farms located in Heilongjiang, Jilin, and Yunnan provinces. The proportion of PCV3-positive mosquitoes was 32.0 % (86/269), ranging from 21.4%-42.5% at farm level, which may imply that mosquito serves as a route of transmission for PCV3. To determine the possible origin of PCV3 in mosquitoes, 80 pig serum samples were collected from the pig farms where mosquito sampling was also performed. The proportion of PCV3-positive farms ranged from 15.0%-30.0 % in which infection of positive pigs positively correlated with mosquitoes carrying the virus. Additionally, we sequenced the entire genome of 6 strains of PCV3 in mosquitoes and 2 strains of PCV3 in pigs. Sequence analysis indicated a 100 % nucleotide similarity between mosquito and pig viral isolates that were all collected from similar farms. Phylogenetic analysis showed that PCV3 could be divided into two clades, PCV3a and PCV3b, and the PCV3 strains isolated in mosquitoes were distributed on the two clades. Pediatricians and pediatric endocrinologists utilize Bone Age Assessment (BAA) for in-vestigations pertaining to genetic disorders, hormonal complications and abnormalities in the skeletal system maturity of children. Conventional methods dating back to 1950 were often tedious and suscep-tible to inter-observer variability, and preceding attempts to improve these traditional techniques have inadequately addressed the human expert inter-observer variability so as to significantly refine bone age evaluations. In this paper, an automated and efficient approach with regression convolutional neu-ral network is proposed. This approach automatically exploits the carpal bones as the region of interest (ROI) and performs boundary extraction of carpal bones, then based on the regression convolutional neural network it evaluates the skeletal age from the left hand wrist radiograph of young children. Experiments show that the proposed method achieves an average discrepancy of 2.75 months between clinical and automatic bone age evaluations, and achieves 90.15% accuracy within 6 months from the ground truth for male. Further experimental results with test radiographs assigned an accuracy within 1 year achieved 99.43% accuracy.

Changes in economic development stage and growth type will lead to variations in the CO₂ emissions. Traditional empirical analysis of the variations often only considers the impact of influencing factors on CO₂ emissions from a single dimension. Under the background of China's economy transferring from high-speed growth to high-quality development, this paper comprehensively considers the characteristics of the relevant influencing factors under different development stages and growth rates, and further calculates the panel gray incidence degree between CO₂ emissions and these influencing factors in eastern, central, and western China. Based on the different development conditions, corresponding benchmarks of the indicators for the three regions (eastern, western, and central China) are accordingly set, highlighting the unity as well as the uniqueness between different regions. Furthermore, this paper verifies the environmental Kuznets curve (EKC) in the three regions. The result shows that all the factors of per capita Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Energy Intensity, Urbanization Level, and Trade Openness have a high correlation with CO₂ emissions in the three regions, in which CO₂ emissions are all between the two inflection points of the inverted N-shaped model.

Purpose: In this study, we aimed to investigate biofilm formation characteristics in clinical Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) isolates with erythromycin (ERY) resistance from China and further analyze their correlations with antimicrobial susceptibility and molecular characteristics., Methodology: A total of 276 clinical isolates of ERY-resistant S. aureus, including 142 methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) strains and 134 methicillin-susceptible S. aureus (MSSA) strains, were retrospectively collected in China. Biofilms were determined by crystal violet staining and ERY resistance genes (ermA, ermB and ermC) were detected by polymerase chain reaction. Inducible clindamycin resistance was examined by D test and multilocus sequence typing, and clonal complexes (CCs) based on housekeeping genes were further determined., Results: The frequency of biofilm formation among ERY-resistant S. aureus was 40.9% (113/276) in total and no significant difference was found for the frequency of biofilm formation between ERY-resistant MRSA and ERY-resistant MSSA (44.4% vs 37.3%, P > 0.05). In ERY-resistant MRSA isolates, the frequency of biofilm formation in ermA-positive, gentamicin-resistant and ciprofloxacin-resistant isolates was higher than that in ermA-negative, gentamicin-sensitive and ciprofloxacin-sensitive isolates, respectively (63.9% vs 23.6%, P < 0.01; 60.3% vs 27.5%, P < 0.01; 65.2% vs 26.3%, P < 0.01). In addition, tetracycline resistance facilitated biofilm formation in both ERY-resistant MRSA and MSSA and the frequency of biofilm formation in CC239- or CC7S. aureus isolates with ERY resistance was significantly higher compared with that in CC59S. aureus (both P < 0.01)., Conclusion: The ermA gene, and gentamicin, ciprofloxacin and tetracycline resistance facilitate biofilm formation in ERY-resistant MRSA isolates and, moreover, ERY-resistant S. aureus isolates with positive biofilm formation exhibited clonality clustering regarding CC239 and CC7., (Copyright © 2018 Elsevier Ltd. Populus euphratica is a dominant tree in riparian ecosystems in arid areas of northwest China, but it fails to regenerate in these systems. This study evaluates causes for the failure of sexual and asexual regeneration of this species in the wild. P. euphratica disperses as many as 85743 seeds/m(2) during summer, and the seeds germinate to 92.0% in distilled water and to 60.8% on silt. However, very few seeds (3.6%) can germinate on unflooded soil. The seed-rain season is prolonged by temporal variability in seed dispersal among individuals, which ensures that seedling emergence can occur during favorable conditions (i.e., floods and rainfall). As a result of water shortage and river channeling due to water usage and altered river flows, there are no safe sites on river banks for seed germination, which has led to the failure of P. euphratica to regenerate from seed. Root suckers of P. euphratica were present in 86% of the forest gaps investigated. However, extensive grazing has destroyed many of them and thus has reduced this form of regeneration. This research suggests that human activities are resulting in the failure of P. euphratica to regenerate. Changes in land management such as reduced use of concrete canals in Populus forests and/or reduced sheep grazing in these areas may promote their regeneration.

To determine which organisms most commonly cause infection after natural disasters, we cultured specimens from injured earthquake survivors in Wenchuan, China, 2008. Of 123 cultures, 46 (59%) grew only 1 type of pathogenic bacteria. Smear was more effective than culture for early diagnosis of gas gangrene. Early diagnosis and treatment of wounds are crucial.

Objective: To analyze the impact of hypertensive left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) on cardiovascular events (CVD) in adult Beijing residents., Methods: CVD risk factor survey was conducted in 7023 Beijing residents aged 25 - 64 by a stratified-random sample design from 1984 to 1993 in three years interval. CVD events were followed up and the association of the hypertensive LVH and risk of CVD and total death was analyzed by multivariable Cox Regression Model. All subjects were followed up to December 2004., Results: There were 211 non hypertensive LVH patients in the cohort and were excluded from the study. (1) There were 2240 hypertensive patients among 6812 subjects on baseline. The total prevalence of LVH was 11.8% (16.1% in male and 7.5% in female). (2) Compared to the group with normal blood pressure and without left ventricular hypertrophy, subjects with hypertensive LVH had significantly higher risk for acute coronary, acute stroke, total CVD and total death rate. The relative risks (RR) were 4.92 (95% CI: 2.3, 10.7), 4.2 (95% CI: 2.6, 7.0), 4.1 (95% CI: 2.6, 6.3) and 3.3 (95% CI: 2.0, 5.3), respectively. (3) Compared to the group with hypertension and without LVH, the group with hypertensive LVH had also significantly higher risk for acute stroke, total CVD and total death rate. The RR were 1.8 (95% CI: 1.1, 2.8), 1.7 (95% CI: 1.2, 2.3) and 1.7 (95% CI: 1.1, 2.7), respectively. (4) The population attribute risks (PAR) of hypertensive LVH to the incidents of acute CHD, acute stroke, total CVD and total death were 13.0%, 11.0%, 10.4% and 7.9%, respectively., Conclusions: Hypertensive left ventricular hypertrophy was an independent risk factor for long term risk of cardiovascular events and death.
