Increasing demands for livestock products have stimulated rapid increases in the number of livestock and the scale of farming, thus increasing pressure on resources and the environment. Coordinating the development of livestock production (LP) with residential consumption (RC), resources and the environmental carrying capacity (RECC) is important to ensure sustainable development. In this study, the entropy weight method and the improvedcoupling coordination degree (CCD) model were used to identify the spatial-- temporal coordination development characteristics of livestock productionresidential consumption-resource and environmental carrying capacity (LRRE). Furthermore, the spatial autocorrelation model (SAM) and gray model (GM) were used to analyze the spatial aggregation characteristics and future development trends of the CCDs of the LRRE in China. The findings show that the CCDs of the LRRE values in 31 Chinese provinces increased from 2005 to 2020, but no provinces reached a high coordination level. Specifically, the coordinated development level of LRRE is relatively high in the central, eastern and northeastern regions and relatively low in the western region. The spatial autocorrelation analysis confirmed that the high-high (H-H) aggregation areas were mainly distributed in the northeastern, eastern, and central regions, while low-high (L-H) agglomeration was distributed in the western region. This phenomenon is mainly attributed to the continuous expansion of the scale of livestock production in western China. Regions with relatively developed economies have more funds to invest in environmental protection projects. Using GM method, we find that the CCDs of LRRE in 31 provinces in China will increase from 2021 to 2030, and all provinces will reach the basic coordination level. However, most of the western regions will barely reach the basic coordination level. This result indicates that the low level of LRRE development in western China may be difficult to change in the short term. The level of coordinated LRRE development in the relatively developed eastern region is increasing. The spatial layout of China's livestock industry should be appropriately adjusted, its expansion rate in the western region should be decreased, and the ecological environment of the areas bordering the western and central regions should be improved. These findings have practical implications for other large livestock production countries. Promoting the coordinated development of LRRE is also an important condition for agricultural transformation in developing countries, especially for improving the environment in key areas of the livestock industry. To alleviate the growth inhibition, and intestinal damage of Chinese mitten crab (Eriocheir sinensis) induced by low fishmeal diets (LF), an 8-week feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the addition of dietary soybean-derived bioactive peptides (SBP) in LF diets on the regulation of growth, digestion and intestinal health. The crabs were fed isonitrogenous and isoenergetic conventional diet and LF diets (10 % fishmeal replaced by soybean meal, LF) supplemented with 0, 1 %, 2 %, 4 % and 6 % SBP, respectively. The results showed that LF diet inhibited growth while inclusion of SBP quadratically remitted the growth inhibition induced by LF. For digestive function, increasing addition level of SBP quadratically improved the α -amylase and trypsin activities. For antioxidant function, LF group significantly increased the malondialdehyde content, while SBP linearly decreased the malondialdehyde level and cubically increased the anti-superoxide anion activity and total antioxidant capacity level. For intestinal health, the peritrophic membrane (PM) almost completely separated from the inner wall of the intestinal lumen, the epithelial cells reduced, the muscularis became thinner and the apoptotic signals increased in LF group; with SBP addition, the intestinal morphology was improved, with the PM adhering to the inner wall of the intestinal lumen, an increase in the number of epithelial cells and an increase in the thickness of the muscularis. Additionally, there was a decrease in apoptotic signals. It is reported that teachers' satisfaction levels are lower and stress levels are higher than other professional groups in many countries. This is especially true for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) teachers. Considering job satisfaction has a direct impact on turnover intention, low satisfaction levels have led to high turnover rates and thus exacerbated the shortages of STEM teachers. Hence, there is an urgent need to explore the antecedents of novice STEM teachers' job satisfaction. This study proposes a new model to show how novice STEM teachers' personality traits and perceived social support influence their job satisfaction. A total of 2592 novice STEM teachers in eighteen randomly selected high schools in China were recruited. Data were analyzed using the structural equation modeling approach. The results illustrated that most novice STEM teachers had low levels of job satisfaction. Novice STEM teachers' personality traits could directly and indirectly impact their job satisfaction. Meanwhile, novice STEM teachers' job satisfaction was also directly influenced by work engagement and indirectly influenced by their perceived social support. This study examines the relationship between securitization and loan performance using proprietary loan-level data from a Chinese bank. Securitized loans exhibit lower ex-post default rates and prepayment chances compared to the loans retained on the bank's balance sheet, suggesting no adverse selection or moral hazard within the Chinese securitization market. Our finding is robust to controlling for possible endogeneity of loan selection by employing propensity score matching and instrumental variable estimators. Exploiting the introduction of the New Asset Management Rule as a quasi-natural experiment, which alters banks' business model and eliminates other options of credit risk transfer except for securitization, we show worse loan performance after the new regulation, in line with deterioration of the bank's incentive. This unintended consequence of the New Asset Management Rule, aimed at curbing shadow banking activities of banks, highlights the emergence of risk in the securitization sector of the shadow banking. Cipangopaludina cathayensis (Gastropoda: Prosobranchia; Mesogastropoda; Viviparidae) is widely distributed in the freshwater habitats of China. It is an economically important snail with high edible and medicinal value. However, the genomic resources and the reference genome of this snail are lacking. In this study, we assembled the first chromosome-level genome of C. cathayensis. The preliminary assembly genome was 1.48 Gb in size, with a contig N50 size of 93.49 Mb. The assembled sequences were anchored to nine pseudochromosomes using Hi-C data. The final genome after Hi-C correction was 1.48 Gb, with a contig N50 of 98.49 Mb and scaffold N50 of 195.21 Mb. The anchored rate of the chromosome was 99.99%. A total of 22,702 protein-coding genes were predicted. Phylogenetic analyses indicated that C. cathayensis diverged with Bellamya purificata approximately 158.10 million years ago. There were 268 expanded and 505 contracted gene families in C. cathayensis when compared with its most recent common ancestor. Five putative genes under positive selection in C. cathayensis were identified (false discovery rate <0.05). These genome data provide a valuable resource for evolutionary studies of the family Viviparidae, and for the genetic improvement of C. cathayensis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: FOXG1-related encephalopathy, also known as FOXG1 syndrome or FOXG1-related disorder, affects most aspects of development and causes microcephaly and brain malformations. This syndrome was previously considered to be the congenital variant of Rett syndrome. The abnormal function or expression of FOXG1, caused by intragenic mutations, microdeletions or microduplications, was considered to be crucial pathological factor for this disorder. Currently, most of the FOXG1-related encephalopathies have been identified in Europeans and North Americans, and relatively few Chinese cases were reported. Methods: Array-Comparative Genomic Hybridization (Array-CGH) and whole-exome sequencing (WES) were carried out for the proband and her parent to detect pathogenic variants. Results: A de novo nonsense mutation (c.385G>T, p.Glu129Ter) of FOXG1 was identified in a female child in a cohort of 73 Chinese children with neurodevelopmental disorders/intellectual disorders (NDDs/IDs). In order to have a comprehensive view of FOXG1-related encephalopathy in China, relevant published reports were browsed and twelve cases with mutations in FOXG1 or copy number variants (CNVs) involving FOXG1 gene were involved in the analysis eventually. Feeding difficulties, seizures, delayed speech, corpus callosum hypoplasia and underdevelopment of frontal and temporal lobes occurred in almost all cases. Out of the 12 cases, eight patients (66.67%) had single-nucleotide mutations of FOXG1 gene and four patients (33.33%) had CNVs involving FOXG1 (3 microdeletions and 1 microduplication). The expression of FOXG1 could also be potentially disturbed by deletions of several brain-active regulatory elements located in intergenic FOXG1-PRKD1 region. Further analysis indicated that PRKD1 might be a cooperating factor to regulate the expression of FOXG1, MECP2 and CDKL5 to contribute the RTT/RTT-like disorders. Discussion: This re-analysis would broaden the existed knowledge about the molecular etiology and be helpful for diagnosis, treatment, and gene therapy of FOXG1-related disorders in the future. MAPKAPK2 (MK2) is an important regulator of the p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (p38 MAPK) pathway, which is involved in a plethora of cellular processes concluding the development of gamete cells in meiosis and resisting pathogenic bacterial infestation. Hyriopsis cumingii is a significant mussel resource in China and a good material for pearl breeding. To explore the role of MK2 in H. cumingii, MK2 was identified and cloned, whose full-length cDNA was 1568 bp, including 87 bp in 5′ UTR, 398 bp in 3′ UTR, and 1083 bp in the open reading frame (ORF) region, encoding 360 amino acids. The expression of MK2 was the highest in the gills. Meanwhile, there was a significant difference in the gonads. After Aeromonas hydrophila and Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) infestation, the transcript level of the MK2 was upregulated in the gills. It indicated that MK2 might be involved in the innate immune response of H. cumingii after a pathogenic attack. After quantifying H. cumingii of different ages, it was found that the expression of MK2 was highest at 1 year old. In situ hybridization (ISH) results showed that the blue-purple hybridization signal was very significant in the oocytes and egg membranes of the female gonads of H. cumingii. The expression of MK2 increased gradually at the age of 1 to 5 months and showed a downward trend at the age of 5 to 8 months. It was suggested that MK2 might play an important role in the formation of primitive germ cells in H. cumingii. To sum up, MK2 might not only be involved in the immune response against pathogenic bacterial infection but also might play an important role in the development of the gonads in H. cumingii. As a new emergence of commercial activities, live steaming selling, which shares the characteristics of both live streaming and online shopping, has been developing rapidly with the prosperity of the Internet and the pervasive use of mobile electronic devices in recent years in China. Given that the consumption in live streaming selling is stimulated by the real-time interaction between live streamers (online sellers) and customers to a great extent, how live streamers construct their conversations in order to attract the audience and hold on to potential customers arouses research interests from linguists. To answer the call for more research on live streaming selling and to enrich the body of studies on discourse other than English, the present study aims at examining how trouble sources in live streaming conversations were taken advantage of to attract the audience as well as how sequences of speech were taken to emphasize the essential purpose of live streaming. The case study is based on the conversations between Li Jiaqi, the top live streamer in China, and Jin Jing, his guest, during a session of live streaming selling. The analysis reveals that a) different forms of repair were initiated skillfully by the two live streamers to create humor to attract more audience, and b) strategies of turn-taking were used smartly to get the topic back on the track of selling. The contamination of surface water by pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) has attracted widespread attention, but data regarding their impacts on groundwater (GW) are sparse. In river-GW interaction areas, rivers are likely an important source of PPCPs in aquifers, especially rivers impacted by sewage treatment plant effluent. Understanding the characterization, transport, and risk is valuable for the effective protection of vital aquatic ecosystem services, environmental health, and drinking water supplies. To attain this objective, statistics with spatial analysis and ecological risk were used to assess the effects of artificial recharge (AR) engineering on 16 PPCPs in aquifers in North China. The results indicated that 15 PPCPs were detected in unconfined and confined aquifers, with a few PPCPs being detected up to 1,000 ng/L. The most frequently detected PPCPs were sulfisoxazole, sulfachloropyridazine, sulfamerazine, sulfamethazine, sulfamethoxazole, and ibuprofen. In addition, the spatial and seasonal variations in most PPCPs were significant. Furthermore, the maximum concentrations were compared to the predicted no-effect concentrations to evaluate the ecological risk, and four PPCPs were found to be of medium or high ecological risk. TPHBackground: Insomnia often coexists with depression, and there is compelling evidence for a genetic component in the etiologies of both disorders. Aims: To investigate the relationship between exonic variant (rs4290270) in the tryptophan hydroxylase-2 gene and primary insomnia and symptoms of depression in Han Chinese. Study Design: Case-control study. Methods: This study included 152 patients with primary insomnia and 164 age- and gender-matched normal controls. All patients were investigated by polysomnography for 2 consecutive nights. The depressive symptoms were measured by using a 20-item Zung Self-rating Depression Scale. Sleep quality was assessed with the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality index. The genotypes of the TPH-2 gene polymorphism rs4290270 were determined by the polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism method. Results: The genotype distributions of the tryptophan hydroxylase-2 gene polymorphism rs4290270 were in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium in both patients and controls (p>0.05). The allele and genotype distributions of this variant were comparable between patients and controls in all subjects and between genders (all p>0.05). The impact of rs4290270 on self-rating depression scale score changes was statistically significant (p=0.002), with carriers of the A/A genotype having the highest self-rating depression scale score (mean ± standard deviation: 52.73±12.88), followed by the A/T genotype (50.94±11.29, p=0.35) and the T/T genotype (43.48±7.78, p<0.01), and this impact was more obvious in women (p<0.001). Conclusion: The tryptophan hydroxylase-2 gene polymorphism rs4290270 may not be a susceptibility locus for primary insomnia in Han Chinese, but it may be a marker of depressive symptoms. The article reports on the introduction of inactivated poliovirus vaccine (IPV) and its impact on the risk for vaccine-associated paralytic poliomyelitis (VAPP) in Beijing, China, from 2014 to 2016. The government introduced IPV into the city's Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) in December 2014. Acute flaccid paralysis surveillance was used to identify VAPP cases in the city during the period.

Purpose: The aim is to evaluate the association between high myopia and genetic variant in the BicC family RNA binding protein 1 (BICC1) as well as its association with Ras protein specific guanine nucleotide releasing factor 1 (RASGRF1) genes in a Chinese Han population with a case-control study.Methods: Five TagSNPs in BICC1 and RASGRF1 genes were selected and genotyped in 821 unrelated subjects, which composed of 419 controls (spherical equivalent within ±1.00 D in both eyes and axial length ≦24.0 mm) and 402 cases (spherical equivalent ≤-6.0D in at least one eye and axial length ≥26.0 mm). Statistical analysis was performed with SNPstats.Results: After an analysis adjusted by age and sex, rs4245599 in BICC1 was found to be significantly associated with high myopia under the codominant, dominant, recessive and log-additive model (P = 0.001, 0.0015, 0.0045 and 2e-04, odds ratio [OR] = 2.15, 1.59, 1.73 and 1.46, respectively), and rs10763559 in BICC1 was associated with high myopia and under the dominant and log-additive model (P = 0.032 and 0.036, OR = 0.72 and 0.78, respectively). Rs4778879 in RASGRF1 was found to be significantly associated with high myopia under codominant, dominant, recessive, and log-additive model (P = 0.0088, 0.0065, 0.026, and 0.0021, OR = 1.87, 1.48, 1.56, and 1.37, respectively). However, no significant association was found between rs745030 in RASGRF1 and high myopia, neither was there any association of rs745029 in RASGRF1.Conclusion: The present study indicated that genetic variants in BICC1 and RASGRF1 are closely associated with high myopia, which appears to be a potential candidate for high myopia in Chinese Han population. Considering the small sample size of this study, further work is needed to validate our results. Solenaia oleivora , a freshwater shellfish endemic to China, is becoming one of the most threatened freshwater mussels owing to water pollution, habitat fragmentation, and overfishing. Hence, exploring its response to different environmental factors is important for its conservation. In this work, we investigated the physiological and transcriptomic response of S. oleivora to increased salinity. We found that increased salinity caused the death of S. oleivora. High salinity caused shrinking and deformation of gill filaments, reduced gill cilia, and induced cell apoptosis in gills. The activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), acid phosphatase (ACP), alkaline phosphatase (AKP), as well as glutathione (GSH) content were increased at the beginning of salinity stress (3−12 h), while SOD and ACP activities decreased at 48 h. Transcriptome data revealed that high salinity stress (48 h) induced 766 differentially expressed genes (DEGs). Among these DEGs, the majority of the stress response and ion transport-related genes were up-regulated, while most of the immune-related genes were down-regulated. In conclusion, these findings suggest that the antioxidant and immune functions of S. oleivora can be inhibited by high salinity, which may be one of the main reasons for its low survival rate under conditions of increasing salinity. Individual Hyriopsis cumingii were collected from Poyang Lake, Dongting Lake, and Taihu Lake, China, from which 17 paternal half-sib families, including 51 full-sib families, were produced using a nested design. After the cage culture of each family with ten replicates for 57 days, 30 individuals were randomly selected from each cage, totaling 15,300. Four growth traits were measured for genetic analysis in each mussel: shell length, shell height, shell thickness, and body weight. The heritability of each trait was 0.49 ± 0.37, 0.27 ± 0.29, 0.59 ± 0.39, and 0.47 ± 0.38, respectively. Phenotypic and genetic correlation between these four traits fell within the range of 0.89-0.95 and 0.97-1.00, respectively. Early growth traits of H. cumingii show sufficient genetic diversity for genetic improvement. Both phenotypic and genetic correlation between the four traits are high, and thus, the modification on one target trait may modify the remaining three traits accordingly. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Houttuynia cordata is an important traditional Chinese herb with unresolved genetics and taxonomy, which lead to potential problems in the conservation and utilization of the resource. Inter-simple sequence repeat (ISSR) markers were used to assess the level and distribution of genetic diversity in 226 individuals from 15 populations of H. cordata in China. ISSR analysis revealed low genetic variations within populations but high genetic differentiations among populations. This genetic structure probably mainly reflects the historical association among populations. Genetic cluster analysis showed that the basal clade is composed of populations from Southwest China, and the other populations have continuous and eastward distributions. The structure of genetic diversity in H. cordata demonstrated that this species might have survived in Southwest China during the glacial age, and subsequently experienced an eastern postglacial expansion. Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to analyze the impact of organizational features and context variables on the proneness of University-Industry cooperation (UIC) in the R&D and engineering process. Using survey data of manufacturing enterprises in Guangdong province of China, the paper shows that the probability of cooperation with university significantly depends on various organizational factors including firm size and enterprise absorptive capacity. In addition, the actually pay tax the collection of business-to-market and technical information, and market position are also important driving factors to the engineering research cooperation between enterprises and universities, but their influences vary with the type of product innovation and process innovation. Solenaia oleivora , a valuable and rare bivalve endemic to China, is becoming a threatened freshwater sepcies. However, the lack of research on its genome and immune system will hinder advances in its conservation and artificial breeding. In this study, we obtained the full-length transcriptome of S. oleivora using PacBio sequencing. A total of 21,415 transcripts with an average length of 1,726 bp were generated. Among these transcripts, 12,084 had coding sequences (CDS), of which 8,639 were annotated in 6 databases. The structure analysis identified 625 transcript factors (TFs), 8,005 long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), and 5,288 simple sequences repeat (SSRs). Meanwhile, massive immune genes were identified from the transcriptome of S. oleivora. In terms of non-self-identification, 97 transcripts of pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) were discovered, including peptidoglycan recognition proteins (PGRPs), gram-negative bacteria binding proteins (GNBPs), toll-like receptors (TLRs), scavenger receptors (SRs), galectins (GALs), C-type lectins (CLTs), and fibrinogen-related protein (FREPs). For pathogen elimination, 7 transcripts related to antimicrobial peptides, lysozymes, and lysosomal enzymes were identified. Moreover, 33 complement-associated transcripts were found. Introduction: Data on the associations between esophageal histological lesions and risk of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) in general populations are limited. We aimed to investigate these associations in a large Chinese general population to inform future Chinese ESCC screening guidelines., Methods: We performed endoscopic screening of 21,111 participants aged 40-69 years from 3 high-risk areas of China in 2005-2009, and followed the cohort through 2016. Cumulative incidence and mortality rates of ESCC were calculated by baseline histological diagnosis, and hazard ratios of ESCC, overall and by age and sex, were assessed using the Cox proportional hazards models., Results: We identified 143 new ESCC cases (0.68%) and 62 ESCC deaths (0.29%) during a median follow-up of 8.5 years. Increasing grades of squamous dysplasia were associated with the increasing risk of ESCC incidence and mortality. The cumulative ESCC incidence rates for severe dysplasia/carcinoma in situ, moderate dysplasia (MD), and mild dysplasia were 15.5%, 4.5%, and 1.4%, respectively. Older individuals (50-69 years) had 3.1 times higher ESCC incidence than younger individuals (40-49 years), and men had 2.4 times higher ESCC incidence than women., Discussion: This study confirmed that increasing grades of squamous dysplasia are associated with increasing risk of ESCC and that severe dysplasia and carcinoma in situ require clinical treatment. This study suggests that in high-risk areas of China, patients with endoscopically worrisome MD should also receive therapy, the first screening can be postponed to 50 years, and endoscopic surveillance intervals for unremarkable MD and mild dysplasia can be lengthened to 3 and 5 years, respectively.

Aim: To explore the DNA image cytometry (DNA-ICM) technique as a primary screening method for esophageal squamous precancerous lesions., Methods: This study was designed as a population-based screening study. A total of 582 local residents aged 40 years-69 years were recruited from Linzhou in Henan and Feicheng in Shandong. However, only 452 subjects had results of liquid-based cytology, DNA-ICM and pathology. The sensitivity and specificity of DNA-ICM were calculated and compared with liquid-based cytology in moderate dysplasia or worse., Results: Sensitivities of DNA-ICM ranging from at least 1 to 4 aneuploid cells were 90.91%, 86.36%, 79.55% and 77.27%, respectively, which were better than that of liquid-based cytology (75%). Specificities of DNA-ICM were 70.83%, 84.07%, 92.65% and 96.81%, but the specificity of liquid-based cytology was 91.91%. The sensitivity and specificity of a combination of liquid-based cytology and DNA-ICM were 84.09% and 85.78%, respectively., Conclusion: It is possible to use DNA-ICM technique as a primary screening method for esophageal squamous precancerous lesions.

It has been suggested that renin-angiotensin system (RAS) gene polymorphism is involved in the pathogenesis of Henoch-Schönlein purpura (HSP) with conflicting reports. We therefore investigate the effect of RAS gene polymorphism on HSP susceptibility and severity in a Chinese cohort. The study included 142 children with HSP and 218 healthy controls that were genotyped for RAS gene polymorphisms. Significantly, differences of T174M-T and ACE-D frequency were found between HSP patients and controls (p(alleo) = .002, OR(alleo) = 2.001; p(alleo) = .007, OR(alleo) = 1.533, respectively). We also found correlations between ACE-I/D and Agt T174M with multiple organ involvements, with significant differences in ACE-D in renal groups (p < 0.05) and Agt T174M in non-renal (p(joint) = .002, p(GI) = .042). Furthermore, decreasing M235T-T and increasing ACE-D were found associated with serious renal complications (p = .019, p = .016). Additionally, ACE-I/D and T174M were significantly associated with high clinical score patients, as opposed to low clinical score patients, when patients were scored depending on the severity of overall complications (p = .045, p = .026). We suggest that RAS gene polymorphisms (ACE-I/D, M235T or T174M) are significantly associated with susceptibility to HSP, organ involvement, and disease severity, which largely account for individual prognosis.
