Real estate in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (also known as the Greater Bay Area, GBA) - a good representation of China's advanced and developed urban agglomeration - has received considerable attention from the international community in recent years. However, the real estate market has been under extraordinary stress due to the expansion of COVID-19 in China, the strain on people's livelihoods brought on by the coronavirus pandemic, and the Chinese government's series of epidemic preventive initiatives. This study used a combination of qualitative and quantitative techniques, making use of interviews and questionnaires as instruments. It examined China's GBA real estate market as the pandemic looms. The primary goals are to demonstrate the current state of the GBA's real estate industry, pinpoint the factors holding back its growth, and estimate when the market might finally experience a breakthrough. Our findings suggested that the impact of COVID-19 on the GBA real estate sector in China is evident, but that it still has a bright future despite the negative externalities. This is because the city has a large population, high purchasing power, and is close to some of the most developed areas in southern China. This study establishes a baseline for studying the impact of China's "One Belt, One Road" initiative on the GBA real estate market in the future. Background: Limited evidence exists for the association between dietary patterns and later obesity phenotypes among Chinese adults. This longitudinal study aimed to evaluate associations of dietary patterns with general and central obesity in Chinese adults. Methods: Based on the China Health and Nutrition Survey (CHNS) waves 2004 and 2015, the study was conducted on 4207 adult men and women (age range: 18–65 years). Dietary intakes were assessed by three consecutive 24-h dietary recalls, and dietary patterns were identified using exploratory factor analysis. Longitudinal associations of dietary patterns with general and central obesity were evaluated using logistic regression analyses. Results: The prevalence rates of general and central obesity were 14.2% and 42.1%, respectively. Factor analysis extracted three major dietary patterns: "traditional southern," "modern," and "traditional northern." After adjustment for potential confounders, adults in the highest quartile of the traditional southern dietary group were less likely to develop over 10 years general (odds ratio [OR] = 0.50, 95% confidence interval [95%CI]: 0.39, 0.65) and central (OR = 0.52, 95%CI: 0.43, 0.63) obesity compared to those in the lowest quartile group. The modern dietary pattern was not significantly associated with general and central obesity. Adherence to the traditional northern dietary pattern increased the chance of both general and central obesity (OR = 1.61, 95%CI: 1.23, 2.10; OR = 1.64, 95%CI: 1.36, 1.98) after 10 years. Conclusions: Our study provides longitudinal evidence for associations between dietary patterns and later obesity phenotypes among Chinese adults. Background: It is proposed that the development of parenteral nutrition-associated cholestasis (PNAC) was significantly associated with preterm birth, low birth weight, infection, etc.; however, the etiology and pathogenesis of PNAC are not fully understood. Most of the studies examining PNAC-associated risk factors were single-center studies with relatively small sample sizes. Objective: To analyze the risk factors associated with PNAC in preterm infants in China. Methods: This is a retrospective multicenter observational study. Clinical data on the effect of multiple oil-fat emulsions (soybean oil-medium chain triglycerides-olive oil-fish oil, SMOF) in preterm infants were collected from a prospective multicenter randomized controlled study. A secondary analysis was performed in which preterm infants were divided into the PNAC group and the non-PNAC group based on the PNAC status. Results: A total of 465 cases very preterm infants or very low birth weight infants were included in the study in which 81 cases were assigned to the PNAC group and 384 cases were assigned to the non-PNAC group. The PNAC group had a lower mean gestational age, lower mean birth weight, longer duration of invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation, a longer duration oxygen support, and longer hospital stay (P < 0.001 for all). The PNAC group had higher respiratory distress syndrome, hemodynamically significant patent ductus arteriosus, necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) with stage II or higher, surgically treated NEC, late-onset sepsis, metabolic bone disease, and extrauterine growth retardation (EUGR) compared to the non-PNAC group (P < 0.05 for all). In contrast with the non-PNAC group, the PNAC group received a higher maximum dose of amino acids and fat emulsion, more medium/long-chain fatty emulsion, less SMOF, had a longer duration of parenteral nutrition, lower rates of breastfeeding, higher incidence of feeding intolerance (FI), more accumulated days to achieve total enteral nutrition, less accumulated days of total calories up to standard 110 kcal/kg/day and slower velocity of weight growth (P < 0.05 for all). Logistic regression analysis indicated that the maximum dose of amino acids (OR, 5.352; 95% CI, 2.355 to 12.161), EUGR (OR, 2.396; 95% CI, 1.255 to 4.572), FI (OR, 2.581; 95% CI, 1.395 to 4.775), surgically treated NEC (OR, 11.300; 95% CI, 2.127 ~ 60.035), and longer total hospital stay (OR, 1.030; 95% CI, 1.014 to 1.046) were independent risk factors for the development of PNAC. SMOF (OR, 0.358; 95% CI, 0.193 to 0.663) and breastfeeding (OR, 0.297; 95% CI, 0.157 to 0.559) were protective factors for PNAC. Conclusions: PNAC can be reduced by optimizing the management of enteral and parenteral nutrition and reducing gastrointestinal comorbidities in preterm infants. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Photovoltaic power generation is greatly affected by weather factors. To improve the prediction accuracy of photovoltaic power generation, complete ensemble empirical mode decomposition with an adaptive noise algorithm (CEEMDAN) is proposed to preprocess the power sequence. Then, the full convolutional network (FCN) model optimized based on the sparrow search algorithm (SSA) is used to predict the short-term photovoltaic power. SSA can more reasonably determine the parameters of FCN and improve the prediction performance of FCN. Therefore, the FCN model optimized by the SSA algorithm is used to establish prediction models for subsequences and predict each subsequence, respectively. Finally, the predicted value of each subsequence is superimposed. Taking the actual data of a photovoltaic power station in Jiangsu province of China as an example, by comparing some different common prediction models, it is proved that the proposed method is reasonable and feasible. Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common malignancies worldwide, especially in China, with high metastasis and poor prognosis. Recently, as the core component of the polycomb repressive complexes 1 (PRC1), chromobox protein homolog 8 (CBX8) is considered as an oncogene and prognostic marker in HCC. Methods: A tissue microarray of 166 paired HCC and adjacent non-tumor samples were collected to identify the relationship between CBX8 and epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT) associated proteins by Spearman correlation analysis. Knock-down of CBX8 in HCC cells was conducted to detect the biologic functions of CBX8 in HCC metastasis. Results: We found out that CBX8 was over-expressed in HCC and its expression was closely related to the metastasis of HCC patients. In addition, knock-down of CBX8 was found to inhibit the invasion and migration ability of HCC cells. Moreover, there was a significant relationship between expression of CBX8 and EMT associated proteins both in HCC cells and tumor tissues. Objective: The aim of study was to construct a nomogram to effectively predict the overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) for patients with vulvar squamous cell carcinoma (VSCC)., Methods: The training cohort consisted of 5405 patients with VSCC, extracted from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database between 2004 and 2015. Eighty-four patients with VSCC were selected from the disease database of the Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University from 2014 to 2020, and enrolled as the external validation cohort. Significant independent prognostic factors were identified using Cox regression analysis and used to develop nomograms to predict 1-, 3-, and 5-year OS and CSS in patients with VSCC., Results: The nomogram predicting OS was developed based on tumor size, histological grade, International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) stage, regional lymph node involvement, distant metastases, surgery, chemotherapy, age, and race. The nomogram for CSS was constructed using the similar factors, excluding race but including marital status. The nomogram for 1-, 3-, and 5-year OS demonstrated robust performance with receiver operating characteristic curves (AUCs) exceeding 80% (0.86, 0.84, and 0.82), outperforming the FIGO staging alone (0.77, 0.75, and 0.72). Similarly, for CSS, our nomograms achieved larger AUCs of 0.89, 0.88, and 0.86 compared with FIGO staging alone (0.81, 0.79, and 0.78)., Conclusion: The nomograms more accurately predict prognosis than simple FIGO staging. Background: As an essential member of the Polycomb group (PcG) proteins, chromobox homolog 7 (CBX7) is found deregulated in some human cancers, and is thought to be a contributing factor in carcinogenesis. However, the expression and role of CBX7 in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is still not well characterized. Materials and Methods: The levels of the CBX7 protein were quantified in 75 paired HCC and adjacent nontumor tissues by immunohistochemistry; comparisons were made using McNemar's chi-square test. The Kaplan-Meier estimate was used for survival analysis. Results: We found that the expression of CBX7 in HCC tissues was significantly lower than that of adjacent nontumor tissues. In addition, decreased CBX7 expression levels were correlated with liver cirrhosis in HCC patients. Furthermore, the survival times of HCC patients who were CBX7-expression-negative were shorter than HCC patients who were CBX7-expression-positive. Conclusion: Our results show that downregulation of CBX7 is related to HCC progression and a poor prognosis in HCC patients.

Introduction: Maternal vitamin D deficiency has been associated with a number of fetal and neonatal health problems. Preterm birth is one of the most detrimental, and the role of maternal vitamin D deficiency in preterm births has not been universally acknowledged. There had been limited epidemiological studies of vitamin D deficiency on the Chinese population., Subjects and Methods: 1103 women delivered in Shengjing Hospital, China Medical University from January 1(st), 2012 to January 1(st), 2013. Finally, 821 mother-newborn pairs which contained 143 mother-newborn pairs who were preterm delivery were recruited for analysis., Results: There was significant difference between spring and summer (P<0.0001) as well as spring and autumn (P<0.01). Compared to those in summer and autumn, the 25 (OH) D level was significantly lower in winter (summer vs winter P<0.0001, autumn vs winter P<0.0001). Maternal vitamin D level showed obvious variation with months and seasons, with higher level in summer months and lower level in winter months. There were significant difference between the vitamin D level of the very preterm group and the mildly preterm groups (P<0.01), as well as the very preterm group and the in-term groups (P<0.001). Prevalence of Vitamin D deficiency occurred in 63.04% of pregnant women in very preterm group, compared with 36.61% in in-term group., Conclusion: Vitamin D nutritional status of pregnant women and their newborns in Shenyang were relatively good compared to cities in similar latitudes. Vitamin D deficiency was most severe in late spring and least in summer. Severe preterm births before 31 weeks of gestation was associated with maternal vitamin D deficiency.

Introduction: Vitamin D plays a key role in maintaining calcium homeostasis and skeletal health. The liver is critically involved in vitamin D metabolism, as 25-hydroxyvitamin D₃ (25(OH)D₃) is synthesized in the liver. Therefore liver dysfunction may lead to vitamin D deficiency and bone problems. The aim of this study was to examine vitamin D status and bone turnover markers in hepatitis B patients from northeastern China., Methods: We recruited 39 patients with hepatitis B (23 noncirrhotic and 16 cirrhotic) and 48 healthy controls in Shenyang, a metropolitan city in northeastern China, and measured serum 25(OH)D₃ levels and serum and urinary bone turnover markers in these subjects., Results: Serum 25(OH)D₃ levels in the patients with or without cirrhosis were markedly lower compared to the nonhepatitis controls (19.2 ± 1.2 and 18.5 ± 1.3 vs. 31.6 ± 1.3 nmol/L control), whereas serum and urinary bone turnover markers (alkaline phosphatase, C-terminal telopeptide of type I collagen, and pyridinoline) were significantly higher in these patients than in the controls. Moreover, serum levels of osteoprotegerin, a bone mass-regulating protein, were substantially reduced in the patients, with the lowest seen in patients with cirrhosis (2.7 ± 1.1 and 1.4 ± 0.4 vs. 3.4 ± 0.7 pg/mL control). Serum 25(OH)D₃ levels below 30 nmol/L were positively correlated with serum osteoprotegerin levels in this cohort., Conclusions: Severe vitamin D deficiency is very common in hepatitis B patients in northeastern China, which negatively impacts their bone health. These data strongly suggest a need to treat these patients with vitamin D supplementation to protect their bone health.
