Holocene paleoclimate reconstructions and comparisons largely rely on accurate age-depth modeling. However, uncertainties in chronology, such as those caused by sparse radiocarbon dates, will hamper inter-core comparisons and correlations, and might result in misleading "cause and consequence" conclusions. This study aimed to find a solution to increase the comparability and minimize the uncertainty of wetland chronology as much as possible. Sediment cores were recovered and radiocarbon dated from the Lianhuachi wetland located in Southeastern China. Humification degree and loss-on-ignition (LOI) were determined using colorimetric and combustion methods respectively. Our data were compared with previously published datasets obtained in the same wetland. The results show that independent humification profiles from the Lianhuachi wetland displayed high similarities. This high similarity between the humification profiles allowed us to transfer radiocarbon ages from one core to another using sequence slotting correlation. Applying the humification-based chronology refinement method to all sediment cores resulted in an improvement in the correlation coefficients between the same but independently measured proxy sequences from the wetland, which suggests both the inter- and intra-core comparability was improved. Because determining peat humification degree is easy, inexpensive, and time-saving, we suggest that humification can serve as a tool that can be used to correlate different cores and to transfer published radiocarbon ages within the same wetland (peatland) or in a comparable geological setting, to establish a more robust chronology of these comparable cores. The all-female mandarin fish (Dinggui I, Siniperca Chuatsi) was recently approved by Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People's Republic of China as a new strain of mandarin fish (GS-04-001-2021). Select breeding of fast-growing lines is an important goal of the mandarin fish industry. However, single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with growth of Dinggui I mandarin fish remains unclear. Therefore, a genome-wide association study (GWAS) was performed on 5 growth traits (body weight, body length, whole length, body height and body thickness) of 192 mandarin fish. A total of 49,940 SNPs were identified by ddRAD-seq. Among them, a total of 6 significant SNPs were detected on multiple chromosomes. The proportion of phenotypic variance explained for these SNPs ranged from 9.66% to 19.47% for growth traits. Specifically, 4 SNPs were associated with all traits. Several candidate genes (AKT2 , CCNT2 , EPB41L2 and CAMKMT) were identified based on these SNPs. The loci were verified in 100 individuals, indicating the reliability of candidate SNPs. Objective: To examine and compare the quality of life (QoL) of the primary family caregivers (PFCs) of inpatients with advanced cancer and the PFCs of home hospice patients with advanced cancer and to analyze the determinants of QoL., Methods: Four hospices and three comprehensive or tumor hospitals in Guangdong Province, China were research sites. QoL was measured using paper-based and online questionnaires. Multiple stepwise linear regression was used to analyze the determinants of QoL of PFCs., Results: The PFCs of inpatients had significantly better QoL than did the PFCs of home hospice patients ( p  < 0.01). One-way ANOVA results indicated the following: for the PFCs of inpatients, PFC age ( t  = 2.411, p  < 0.05), type of relationship with patient ( F  = 2.985, p  < 0.05), and family economic situation ( F  = 3.423, p  < 0.05) significantly affected PFCs' QoL; for the PFCs of home hospice patients, family economic situation ( F  = 3.757, p  < 0.05) and care experience ( t  = 2.021, p  < 0.05) significantly affected PFCs' QoL. A multiple stepwise linear regression was conducted: for the PFCs of inpatients, family economic situation and whether the PFC was the patient's immediate family member were included as predictors of QoL; for the PFCs of home hospice patients, family economic situation and care experience were included as predictors of QoL., Conclusion: Our findings can help improve the home hospice care service model in mainland China. In particular, the QoL of the PFCs of home hospice patients requires urgent attention. Exploring the changes of ecosystem services value caused by land use transformation driven by urbanization is crucial for ensuring the safety of the regional ecological environment and for enhancing the value of ecosystem services. Based on the land use remote sensing data during the rapid urbanization development period of Hubei Province from 1995 to 2015, this study analyzed the characteristics of land use/land cover change and land use transformation. The spatial-temporal response characteristics and evolution of ecosystem services value (ESV) to land use transformation driven by urbanization were measured by equivalent factor method, spatial autocorrelation analysis, hot spot analysis and gravity model. We found that: (1) Driven by urbanization, the most significant feature of land use transformation in Hubei Province was the expansion of the built-up land and the significant reduction of cropland and forest, among which 90% of the new built-up land was converted from cropland and forest. (2) This land use transformation became the main source of ESV losses. Especially, the sharp increase of the built-up land from 2010 to 2015, occupying cropland and forest, resulted in ESV losses of nearly USD 320 million. The service capacity of climate regulation, soil conservation, gas regulation and food production undertaken by cropland and forest decreased. (3) The ecosystem services value in the study area showed spatial distribution characteristics of high in the west and low in the middle and east regions. The center of gravity of ESV shifted from northwest to southeast. Due to the sharp increase of the built-up land from 2010 to 2015, the center of gravity shift rebounded. This study can help policymakers better understand the trade-offs between land use transformation and ecosystem services driven by urbanization.
