Abstract

The article reports on the utilization of zinc oxide (ZnO) as lasing materials. It states that scientists at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China have made ZnO to lase by way of electrical pumping wherein ZnO nanorod arrays embedded in silicon dioxide (SiO2) are covered with a gold electrode and formed on silicon (Si). It notes that the random lasing in the nanorods has induced by metal-insulator-semiconductor structure as pumped at 5 volt or more.
