Collaborative problem-solving competence (CPSC) is a core skill in the twenty-first century. As an innovative literacy, CPSC was assessed for the first time in the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2015. Our study aims to identify the effects of student's perceptions toward interpersonal relationships on CPSC in PISA 2015. Multiple linear regression was used to examine these effects across Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and the four affluent communities in China. After controlling student's gender and socio-economic status, the results indicated that: (a) Student's external perceptions such as teacher unfairness and disciplinary climate, and student's internal perceptions such as valuing relationships and valuing teamwork significantly predicted CPSC; (b) Disciplinary climate was the strongest predictor among all the external perceptions analyzed; (c) Regarding the internal perceptions, valuing relationships positively predicted CPSC, while valuing teamwork negatively predicted CPSC. These findings enlighten educational practitioners to help students develop their CPSC from the perspective of interpersonal relationships.

Wood-rotting fungi are organisms that can decompose wood substrates and extract nutrients from them to support their growth. They play a crucial role in the material cycle of forest ecosystems. The genus Pluteus plays a significant role in wood decomposition. In this study, the morphology and molecular systematics of the sect. Celluloderma of the genus Pluteus were carried out. Pluteus brunneodiscus was identified as a new species, along with the discovery of two new records, P. cystidiosus and P. chrysophlebius, and a common species, P. romellii. Pluteus brunneodiscus is characterized by the brown center of the pileus that transitions to white towards the margins, with the surface cracking to form irregular granules. It is typically found in Populus forests growing on decomposing twigs or wood chips. Line drawings, color photographs, and phylogenetic analyses of related species within the genus Pluteus accompany the descriptions of these four species. The analyses are based on ITS + TEF1-α sequence data. Finally, a key for the twenty species within the sect. Celluloderma of the genus Pluteus, which has been documented in China, is provided. The present study is aiming to exploring the behavior status of rural left-behind children in China. In a case-control study, we used Rutter Children's Behavior Questionnaire for teacher to measure behavior status of children in left-behind group and control group. Furthermore, we also compared behavior status of children in different age groups (grades two, four and five). The results showed that rural left-behind children in China have more behavior problems than the control group, and children in the elder group have more behavior problems than children in the younger group. Yellow horn (Xanthoceras sorbifolia bunge) is a small endemic oilseed energy plant native to the northern part of China, which can survive in desert, semi-arid and arid environment, and therefore has important economic, environmental and ecological value for biodiesel production, agricultural production and ecological restoration. With the increased concerns on the energy shortage and ecological environment change, yellow horn has won worldwide attention in recent years. However, the systematic molecular analysis of yellow horn using the advanced molecular biological techniques still remain limited. Considering this, we summarized the recent advances in the investigations of yellow horn at molecular level and discussed the future research directions and prospects. Antibiotics have been widely used in animal husbandry, which leads to high risk of food-borne transfer of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs). The present study investigated the distribution of β -lactamase resistance genes (β -RGs) on dairy farm in the Songnen Plain of western Heilongjiang Province, China, to provide mechanistic insights into food-borne transmission of β -RGs through "meal-to-milk" chain under practically relevant circumstances. The results demonstrated that the abundance of β -RGs (91%) was much higher than that of other ARGs in the livestock farms. The blaTEM exhibited the content as high as 94.55% among all ARGs, and higher than 98% blaTEM was detected in meal, water and milk sample. The metagenomic taxonomy analysis indicated that the blaTEM should be carried by tnpA-04 (7.04%) and tnpA-03 (1.48%) hosted in Pseudomonas genus (15.36%) and Pantoea (29.02%) genus. Both tnpA-04 and tnpA-03 in the milk sample were identified to be the key mobile genetic elements (MGEs) responsible for transferring blaTEM along the "meal-manure-soil-surface water-milk" chain. The ARGs transfer across ecological boundaries underscored the need to evaluate potential dissemination of high-risk Proteobacteria and Bacteroidetes carried by humans and animals. They were capable of producing expanded-spectrum β -lactamases (ESBLs) and destroying commonly used antibiotics, leading to possible risk of food-borne horizontal transmission of ARGs. This study not only has important environmental implications for identifying the pathway for ARGs transfer, but also highlights the demand for appropriate policy toward safe regulation of dairy farm and husbandry products. The article explores the justification for studying Carl Schmitt's theory in China and reveals the reasons why political philosophers interested in philosophical contributions must consider his theory as relevant for China. It studies the schools critical of Schmitt in China where one criticizes Schmitt as a fascist theorist or political philosopher and the other that advances a weak critique of Schmitt. It cites the relevance of Schmitt's theory to the political transition faced by China.

Objective: Although signal transducer and activator of transcription 1 (STAT1), a transcription factor, plays a critical role in carcinogenesis and has been implicated as a tumor suppressor, few studies have investigated the associations between polymorphisms of this gene and the risk of cancer development. The aim of this study was to examine whether STAT1 gene polymorphisms are associated with the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Methods: Ten single nucleotide polymorphisms in the STAT1 gene were genotyped by TaqMan assays in 469 HCC cases and 558 age-, sex- and HBsAg-matched controls in a Chinese population. Results: Minor allele homozygous genotypes at rs867637 (9,046 bp 3′ of STP A>G), rs3771300 (IVS24-153T>G), and rs2280235 (IVS20-103G>A), compared with their homozygote genotypes of common alleles, were associated with 1.6- (95% CI 1.1-2.3), 1.6- (95% CI 1.1-2.4), and 1.4-fold (95% CI 0.95-1.9) increased risk of HCC, respectively. The GGA haplotype, comprised of risk alleles at rs867637, rs3771300 and rs2280235, conferred a 1.2-fold (95% CI 1.0-1.5) increased risk of HCC, as compared to the most common haplotype of ATG. Diplotype GGA/GGA conferred a 1.6-fold (95% CI 1.0-2.5) increased risk of HCC compared with diplotype ATG/ATG. In reciprocal mutualism systems, the exploitation events by exploiters might disrupt the reciprocal mutualism, wherein one exploiter species might even exclude other coexisting exploiter species over an evolutionary time frame. What remains unclear is how such a community is maintained. Niche partitioning, or spatial heterogeneity among the mutualists and exploiters, is generally believed to enable stability within a mutualistic system. However, our examination of a reciprocal mutualism between a fig species (Ficus racemosa) and its pollinator wasp (Ceratosolen fusciceps) shows that spatial niche partitioning does not sufficiently prevent exploiters from overexploiting the common resource (i.e., the female flowers), because of the considerable niche overlap between the mutualists and exploiters. In response to an exploiter, our experiment shows that the fig can (1) abort syconia-containing flowers that have been galled by the exploiter, Apocryptophagus testacea, which oviposits before the pollinators do; and (2) retain syconia-containing flowers galled by Apocryptophagus mayri, which oviposit later than pollinators. However, as a result of (2), there is decreased development of adult non-pollinators or pollinator species in syconia that have not been sufficiently pollinated, but not aborted. Such discriminative abortion of figs or reduction in offspring development of exploiters while rewarding cooperative individuals with higher offspring development by the fig will increase the fitness of cooperative pollinating wasps, but decrease the fitness of exploiters. The fig-fig wasp interactions are diffusively coevolved, a case in which fig wasps diversify their genotype, phenotype, or behavior as a result of competition between wasps, while figs diverge their strategies to facilitate the evolution of cooperative fig waps or lessen the detrimental behavior by associated fig wasps. In habitats or syconia that suffer overexploitation, discriminative abortion of figs or reduction in the offspring development of exploiters in syconia that are not or not sufficiently pollinated will decrease exploiter fitness and perhaps even drive the population of exploiters to local extinction, enabling the evolution and maintenance of cooperative pollinators through the movement between habitats or syconia (i.e., the metapopulations). Transanal endoscopic microsurgery (TEM) has been suggested as a minimally invasive procedure of low morbidity for rectal villous adenomas and early anorectal adenocarcinomas. It has been used clinically in many areas outside of China for more than 20 years, but it began in mainland China only about 2 years ago. Some articles have reported excellent results with regard to morbidity and relapse rate with TEM, but there are no studies addressing its functional results in China until now. The aim of the present study was to analyze the effect of TEM on the manometric results. Thirty-seven patients (16 females, 21 males) underwent TEM and were followed for more than 6 months. Anorectal manometry and an incontinence questionnaire were administered 1 week preoperatively, 2 weeks postoperatively, 3 and 6 months postoperatively. Of the 37 patients, 24 had villous adenomas and 13 had adenocarcinomas (11 uT1 and 2 uT2). Anorectal manometric values showed the mean anal resting pressure (ARP) decrease from 45 ± 6 mmHg to 29 ± 4 mmHg ( p < 0.05) and the maximum tolerable volume (MTV) decrease from 175 ± 21 ml to 90 ± 15 ml ( p < 0.05) at the third month after TEM. Maximal squeeze pressure (MSP) decreased from 181 ± 20 mmHg to 92 ± 14 mmHg ( p < 0.05) at second week after operation and returned to normal value by the third postoperative month. The ARP and MTV were 45 ± 5 mmHg and 177 ± 21 ml, respectively, at 6 months after TEM, near the normal value ( p > 0.05). Rectoanal inhibitory reflex (RAIR) was absent preoperatively in two patients; it was also absent in 10 patients 3 months postoperatively and in three patients 6 months postoperatively. Endosonography demonstrated internal anal sphincter (IAS) rupture in five patients, and full integrity of the external anal sphincter (EAS) in all patients. Of the five patients with IAS rupture, four had temporary incontinence to flatus normalized up to three postoperative months. Most patients had more times of stools per day and relative higher Wexner scores in a short period after TEM. All these patients were followed for 6–20 months with no incidence of relapse. Anorectal function was preserved well after TEM, although some anorectal manometric parameters changed over time. This article uses the case of the Nu River campaign, under way from 1999 to the present, to shed light on changing models of government agenda-setting in China. A time serial comparison is employed: the issues that emerged at two different times were the same while the agenda-setting models employed were completely different. In 1999 the issue made its way onto the formal agenda behind closed doors, nontransparently; in 2003, however, the same issue received a high degree of public interest and participation. Comparative analysis yields three conclusions: (1) divergence of the departmental interests may lead to an expansion of the public's role in agenda-setting; (2) outside groups, like environmental NGOs, are playing a fundamental role in public participation; (3) traditional, elite-centered politics in China are changing slowly but surely. The leaf epidermis of 16 species and one putative species of Fritillaria was examined using light microscopy (LM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results showed that the stomatal and other epidermal features were constant within species. Epidermal cells of Fritillaria under LM were usually polygonal and anticlinal cell walls were straight or curved. In a few species they were irregular, with sinuous anticlinal cell walls. The cuticular membrane of Fritillaria was usually striated, and the wax ornamentations were flaked, granular or concomitant. Based on leaf epidermal characteristics, the subdivision of Fritillaria is discussed, and the statistical t-test method was used to ascertain the significance level of the differences in the stomata of each species. All orientations of the stomatal poles in Fritillaria were the same, and this phenomenon was named ‘stomatal orientation’. To accurately visualize the spatial distribution of heavy metal pollution and provide basic information on soil remediation in dairy farm, Geographic Information System (GIS) is used for optimization of sample collection and data analysis. Based on GIS technology, dairy manure, 10 cm-depth surface soil, 50 cm-depth sub soil, and surface water samples were collected from dairy farm in Dulbert Mongolian Autonomous County, Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province in China. The spatial distribution and assessment of heavy metals were performed by using GIS inverse distance weighted interpolation and pollution index method. The single factor pollution index value of As element in the soil was found to indicate the class of extreme contamination, whereas Ni in both surface water inside and outside the farm, and Sb in the cow drinking water were assigned to the level of moderate contamination. The comprehensive pollution index implied serious contamination for soil samples, slight contamination for water samples and safety for manure samples, respectively. Comprehensive score for heavy metal elements followed the orders of As>Zn>Cr>Ni>Cu>Pb>Cd>Hg. The horizontal pollution that mainly occurred in the middle and east regions was increased from north to south, and west to east district. Historically, the dairy farm belonged to heavily polluted saline-alkali soil, where the heavy metals might enter the food chain through transportation from soil to water, the cows, and eventually to the milk and human body. Malaria has affected human health globally with a significant burden of disease, and also has impeded social and economic development in the areas where it is present. In Africa, many countries have faced serious challenges in controlling malaria, in part due to major limitations in public health systems and primary health care infrastructure. Although China is a developing country, a set of control strategies and measures in different local settings have been implemented successfully by the National Malaria Control Programme over the last 60 years, with a low cost of investment. It is expected that Chinese experience may benefit malaria control in Africa. This review will address the importance and possibility of China-Africa collaboration in control of malaria in targeted African countries, as well as how to proceed toward the goal of elimination where this is technically feasible. The Cambridge Face Memory Test (CFMT) is one of the most important measures of individual differences in face recognition and for the diagnosis of prosopagnosia. Having two different CFMT versions using a different set of faces seems to improve the reliability of the evaluation. However, at the present time, there is only one Asian version of the test. In this study, we present the Cambridge Face Memory Test - Chinese Malaysian (CFMT-MY), a novel Asian CFMT using Chinese Malaysian faces. In Experiment 1, Chinese Malaysian participants (N = 134) completed two versions of the Asian CFMT and one object recognition test. The CFMT-MY showed a normal distribution, high internal reliability, high consistency and presented convergent and divergent validity. Additionally, in contrast to the original Asian CFMT, the CFMT-MY showed an increasing level of difficulties across stages. In Experiment 2, Caucasian participants (N = 135) completed the two versions of the Asian CFMT and the original Caucasian CFMT. Results showed that the CFMT-MY exhibited the other-race effect. Overall, the CFMT-MY seems to be suitable for the diagnosis of face recognition difficulties and could be used as a measure of face recognition ability by researchers who wish to examine face-related research questions such as individual differences or the other-race effect., (© 2023. Hymenopellis is the genus that exhibits the highest number of species within the Xerula / Oudemansiella complex. Numerous species of Hymenopellis demonstrate edibility, and some of these species have been domesticated and cultivated. During an extensive survey carried out in Henan and Jilin Provinces, China, a substantial quantity of Hymenopellis specimens was gathered as a component of the macrofungal resource inventory. Based on the findings of morphological and molecular phylogenetic studies, a new species, Hymenopellis biyangensis , has been identified. A new record species, Hymenopellis altissima, has been discovered in China. Additionally, two new record species, Hymenopellis raphanipes and Xerula strigosa , have been found in Henan Province. Internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and large subunit ribosomal (nrLSU) were used to establish a phylogeny for species identification. Detailed descriptions, field habitat maps and line drawings of these species are presented. The discussion focuses on the relationships between newly discovered species and other related taxa. Neolentinus is a significant genus, belonging to Gloeophyllaceae, with important economic and ecological values, which are parasites on decaying wood of broad-leaf or coniferous trees, and will cause brown rot. However, the taxonomic study is lagging behind to other groups of macrofungi, especially in China. In view of this, we conducted morphological and molecular phylogenetic studies on this genus. We have discovered new types of cheilocystidia and with extremely long lamellae in Neolentinus , and, thus proposed it as a new species- Neolentinus longifolius . At the same time, we clarified the distribution of Neolentinus cyathiformis in China and provided a detailed description. Moreover, we also described two common species, viz. Neolentinus lepideus and Neolentinus adhaerens . All the species are described based on the Chinese collections. The key to the reported species of Neolentinus from China is provided. And the phylogeny of Neolentinus from China is reconstructed based on DNA sequences of multiple loci including the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) regions, the large subunit nuclear ribosomal RNA gene (nLSU), and the translation elongation factor 1- α gene ( tef-1 α ). Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in China embraces a unique geographical and ecological environment, and the macrofungi represent a rich resource. However, few studies on the genus Pluteus have been reported from Xinjiang. In 2021, the macrofungal resources in Xinjiang were surveyed, and 10 specimens belonging to the genus Pluteus were collected. Based on the morphological study and molecular analysis, three species were recognized, P. aletaiensis , P. brunneidiscus , and P. hongoi . Pluteus aletaiensis is proposed as a new species. It is characterized by its bright yellow lamellae and stipe, brittle texture, subfusiform to vesicular pleurocystidia, with short pedicels to broadly lageniform to obtuse at apices, a hymeniderm pileipellis, containing dark brown intracellular pigment, and it grows on the ground. Pluteus brunneidiscus , a new record to China, is characterized by uneven, smooth, grayish brown to brown pileus, with an entire margin, and pointed or flatter apices intermediate cystidia, without apical hooks. Pluteus hongoi , a new record to Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, China, is characterized by the apical hook's structure (commonly bifid) of pleurocystidia. The nuclear internal transcribed spacer (nrITS) and translation elongation factor 1-alpha (TEF1-a) region were used for the molecular analysis. Phylogenetic trees were constructed using both the maximum likelihood analysis (ML) and Bayesian inference (BI). Detailed descriptions of the three species are presented herein. Objectives: To study the clinical features of children infected with the Omicron variant of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)., Methods: The medical data of 19 children who were diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant infection from January 28 to March 3, 2022 in Hangzhou were retrospectively reviewed., Results: Among the 19 children, there were 7 boys (37%) and 12 girls (63%), and their age ranged from 6 months to 16 years, with a median age of 2 years and 1 month. Most of these children were infants and young children (aged ≤3 years, accounting for 53%). Among these children, 11 (58%) were unvaccinated with SARS-CoV-2 vaccine and 8 (42%) were vaccinated with SARS-CoV-2 vaccine, and 3 children (16%) had a history of underlying diseases. All 19 children had a clear history of close contact with persons infected with SARS-CoV-2, and 10 children (53%) were involved in the cluster outbreak in a maternal and infant care center. In terms of clinical classification, 13 children (68%) had mild coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and 6 (32%) had common COVID-19, with no severe cases of COVID-19. The most common clinical symptoms were cough (100%) and fever (63%). The children with a normal peripheral white blood cell count accounted for 84%, and those with a normal lymphocyte count accounted for 68%. There were no significant abnormalities in platelet count, procalcitonin, liver function parameters (alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase), and renal function parameters (creatinine and urea). Six children (32%) had obvious signs of pneumonia on chest CT. All 19 children were given symptomatic treatment, and 12 children (63%) were given aerosol inhalation of interferon α. All children were cured and discharged., Conclusions: Children infected with Omicron variant strains are more common in infants and young children, with mild symptoms and good prognosis. Most of the children have a history of close contact with persons infected with SARS-CoV-2, and epidemic prevention and control should be strengthened in places with many infants and children, such as maternal and infant care centers.

The long-term and extensive use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides in the cultivation of Chinese materia medica has resulted in serious soil ecological and environmental problems such as secondary salinization, soil consolidation, soil acidification, continuous cropping obstacles, micro-ecological imbalance, and serious soil pests and diseases in the production areas of Chinese materia medica. Therefore, promoting the ecological planting of Chinese materia medica is the only way for the production of Chinese materia medica. Attapulgite(ATP) is a kind of water-rich magnesium-rich aluminosilicate clay mineral with layered and chain structure. It has abundant reserves in China, possesses nano-material properties, strong adsorption and ion exchange properties, and has huge high value utilization space. ATP and its functional products have the potential of water and fertilizer conservation, regulating soil structure and micro-ecology, and are widely used in ecological planting of Chinese materia medica. This paper reviews the resource distribution, structural characteristics, the research and application progress in soil ecological effects of ATP, and prospects the application prospects of it in the ecological planting of Chinese materia medica.

(1) Background: The devastating Ms 7.1 earthquake struck Yushu city, China, in 2010, leading to serious consequences and damage in the central Tibetan Plateau. This study aimed to assess school adaptation and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms of adolescent survivors five years after the Yushu earthquake. (2) Methods: A large-scale, school-based mental health survey was conducted 5 years after the earthquake among Tibetan students in the city of Yushu using the Adolescent's School Adaptation Scale (ASAS) and the PTSD Checklist. (3) Results: A total of 1976 questionnaires were collected. A total of 30.7% of Tibetan adolescents had poor school adaptation and 19.5% were estimated as having probable PTSD. Logistic regression showed that females (OR = 0.73, 95% CI: 0.60-0.89), senior students (OR = 0.48, 95% CI: 0.39-0.59), and those who participated in post-disaster reconstruction (OR = 0.68, 95% CI: 0.54-0.85) were less likely to have poor school adaptation, while a positive association was observed among those buried under a collapsed building (OR = 1.47, 95% CI: 1.04-2.09) and those who experienced bereavement (OR = 1.77, 95% CI: 1.27-2.45). Students who had experienced bereavement were also more likely to have PTSD (OR = 1.60, 95% CI: 1.12-2.28). (4) Conclusions: The post-traumatic effects of the Yushu earthquake on Tibetan adolescents were severe and long-lasting. Sustainable long-term mental health services to help adolescents to restructure their mental health are necessary.

Aim: The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of preoperative platelet counts, parameters and aggregation rates (maximal aggregation rate: MAR) on prognosis in patients with epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC)., Methods: Preoperative platelet count, parameters and MAR in 182 EOC patients, 122 patients with benign ovarian tumor and 150 healthy women were retrospectively analyzed. The correlation between thrombocytosis, platelet parameters, MAR and clinicopathological factors were evaluated in EOC., Results: Forty-five (24.73%) EOC patients had preoperative thrombocytosis in this study. The mean platelet count in the EOC group was significantly higher than that of benign and healthy groups (P < 0.001). The MAR in the EOC group was significantly higher than that in the healthy group (71.96% vs 57.03%, P = 0.025). The platelet parameters (mean platelet volume, platelet distribution width, thrombocytocrit and large platelet ratio) were consistently higher in the EOC group than those in the benign and healthy groups, but the differences were insignificant. A significant correlation between thrombocytosis and MAR was observed in EOC patients (r = 0.694, P < 0.001). EOC patients with thrombocytosis were found to have significantly higher grade (P = 0.048), more advanced stage (P = 0.045), higher level carbohydrate antigen-125 (P = 0.007) and greater likelihood of suboptimal cytoreduction (P = 0.035). EOC patients with both thrombocytosis and high MAR were found to have shorter progression-free survival (P = 0.001)and overall survival (P = 0.004). The combination of thrombocytosis and MAR, as well as stage and optimal cytoreduction, retained significance as an independent prognostic factor for overall survival., Conclusion: Thrombocytosis, accompanied by increasing of platelet aggregation rates, is associated with more aggressive tumor biology in EOC. The combination of thrombocytosis and MAR is an independent negative prognostic factor for overall survival in EOC patients., (© 2013 The Authors. Objective: To understand the genotypes of human metapneumovirus (hMPV) and the genetic character of hMPV attachment protein G sequence in Hunan, China., Methods: 232 nasopharyngeal aspirates (NPA) samples from hospitalized children with acute respiratory infections were collected from Hunan, China in 2005. HMPV was detected. The full length of G glycoprotein genes were amplified and sequenced. Bioinformatics soft-wares were employed to analyze the sequences., Results: 17/232 (7.3%) were showed hMPV positive. And co-infection rate with other viruses is 35%. The diagnoses of these hMPV positive cases are pneumonia, bronchiolitis and bronchopneumonia. Phylogenetic analysis for G genes from 13 hMPVs revealed the existence of four major subgroups: A1, A2, B1, B2 in Hunan, China in 2005. There are four types of sequence lengths of hMPV G glycoprotein, which are 711, 675, 660, 696nt. It is different in potential N-linked glycosylation sites and number of cysteine residues among these hMPVs of Hunan, China and Beijing, China. Also it is different from those in Japan and North America., Conclusion: The investigation of hMPV from Hunan, China in 2005 revealed the high speed of genetic variation and the marked character of geographic epidemic differences.

A newly identified parvovirus, human bocavirus (HBoV), was found in 21 (8.3%) of 252 nasopharyngeal aspirates from hospitalized children with lower respiratory tract infection in Hunan Province, People's Republic of China. Viral loads were 10(4) to 10(10) copies/mL. Phylogenetic analysis of the VP1 gene showed a single genetic lineage of HBoV worldwide.
