This study aims to identify the relationship between academic self-efficacy, self-identity of English education major students and psychological environment of their family and school. In order to improve their self-efficacy and self-identity, this study is to see the effect of the family and school psychological environment on self-efficacy and self-identity. In this study, 262 questionnaires completed by the English education major students in teacher training universities in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in China are used. Reliability, correlation, and regression analysis are performed by the SPSS25.0 program. This study found that there is no significant difference in family and school psychological environment, academic self-efficacy, self-identity by gender and academic year. However, students born in urban areas, students with higher family economic income, and students with better academic performance have higher levels of academic self-efficacy and self-identity, along with better family and school psychological environment. Students with siblings have better family psychological environment than students without siblings, but there is no difference in the academic self-efficacy, self-identity, and school psychological environment by the presence of siblings. This study found that family and school psychological environment are positively related to academic self-efficacy and self-identity of English education major university students. Compared with family psychological environment, school psychological environment is more influential on the academic self-efficacy of them. As the sub-dimensions of school psychological environment, peer support is more influential than teacher support. Compared with school psychological environment, family psychological environment is more influential on the self-identity of them. As the sub-dimensions of family psychological environment, family challenge is more influential than family support. Therefore, strengthening the role of peer support in schools is necessary. Family members should increase stimulation and support to challenge students toward their positive development.

Purpose: This study analyzes the relationship between human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, vaginal microecology, and cervical lesions to provide a basis for the prevention and treatment of cervical cancer (CC) in the Xinjiang region. Methods: Real‐time quantitative PCR was used for HPV genotyping and viral load. The Gram staining and dry biochemical enzyme kit were utilized to diagnose vaginal secretions. The χ2 test and Logistic regression analysis were used for statistical analysis. Results: The HPV infection rate among women in the Xinjiang region was 30.29%, of which the single HPV infection accounts for 77%. HPV16 and HPV52 were the main infection types. There was significant differences in the HPV infection rate and infection types among the Han, Uighur, Hui, and Kazakh ethnic groups. The viral load of HPV16 and HPV52 increases with the upgrade of cervical lesions. There were significant differences in vaginal microecology evaluation indicators H2O2, SNA, LE, GUS, trichomonas, clue cells, and lactobacilli among different ethnic groups. HPV negative patients with varying grades of cervical lesions exhibit a notable variance in H2O2 and LE, which is statistically significant. Single HPV infection and high viral load HPV significantly increase the risk of CC. Conclusions: This study indicates that HPV infection and vaginal microecology differ among ethnic groups, which have a strong correlation with the progression of CC, offering guidance on CC screening and interventions in the Xinjiang area. Background: This study aimed to examine the reporting quality of existing economic evaluations for negotiated glucose-lowering drugs (GLDs) included in China National Reimbursement Drug List (NRDL) using the Consolidated Health Economic Evaluation Reporting Standards 2013 (CHEERS 2013). Methods: We performed a systematic literature research through 7 databases to identify published economic evaluations for GLDs included in the China NRDL up to March 2021. Reporting quality of identified studies was assessed by two independent reviewers based on the CHEERS checklist. The Kruskal–Wallis test and Mann–Whitney U test were performed to examine the association between reporting quality and characteristics of the identified studies. Results: We have identified 24 studies, which evaluated six GLDs types. The average score rate of the included studies was 77.41% (SD:13.23%, Range 47.62%-91.67%). Among all the required reporting items, characterizing heterogeneity (score rate = 4.17%) was the least satisfied item. Among six parts of CHEERS, results part scored least at 0.55 (score rate = 54.79%) because of the incompleteness of characterizing uncertainty. Results from the Kruskal–Wallis test and Mann–Whitney U test showed that model choice, journal type, type of economic evaluations, and study perspective were associated with the reporting quality of the studies. Conclusions: There remains room to improve the reporting quality of economic evaluations for GLDs in NRDL. The advancement of the sports industry's development constitutes a critical concern shared by regional authorities and the scholarly community, reflecting its significant role in economic and social development. This study employs a Fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis (fsQCA) methodology to examine the 31 provincial-level administrative units in China. The objective is to elucidate the influence of technological, organizational, and environmental factors on the industry's development level, considering both a holistic national framework and dissected regional approaches (Eastern, Central, and Western China). This paper's contribution to the literature is structured around the following core findings: (1) The study establishes that a singular condition does not suffice as an essential prerequisite for achieving a heightened development state within the sports industry. (2) At the national level, there are three pathways to enhance the development level of the sports industry, specifically identified as "network-human resources dominant pathway," "technological innovation-human resources dominant pathway," and "comprehensive synergistic pathway."(3) From a regional perspective, the Eastern region has two pathways for sports industry enhancement: "network-economic pathway" and "comprehensive synergistic pathway." The Central region follows a "technology pathway," while the Western region has three pathways: "organization-environment pathway," "network-organization-environment pathway," and "organization pathway."(4) The synthesis of these findings underscores the multifactorial nature of sports industry development, suggesting a paradigm where diverse routes can lead to equivalent outcomes. Analyses of urban hierarchy and scale distribution are crucial in urban research, as they examine the laws of urban development and the functional layout of urban spatial systems. However, previous studies have focused on the macro-spatial distribution of the economy, businesses, and population at the regional level, whereas systematic research on the scale distribution of retail formats in central urban areas is lacking. Therefore, this study investigated the hierarchical scale distribution of retail formats in the top ten cities in China by GDP, using the Public Service Facilities Index Method to define central district boundaries, using scale as an epistemological framework of order and analyzing the spatial distribution patterns of retail formats. The results revealed that the spatial hierarchical scale follows a power law within a certain range; the spatial distribution exhibits stage characteristics, providing a quantitative method for defining retail centres; and the dominant functions, development directions, and morphological characteristics of central districts influence the hierarchical scale distribution of retail formats. Reference crop evapotranspiration (ETO) is a basic component of the hydrological cycle and its estimation is critical for agricultural water resource management and scheduling. In this study, three tree-based machine learning algorithms (random forest [RF], gradient boosting decision tree [GBDT], and extreme gradient boosting [XGBoost]) were adopted to determine the essential factors for ETO prediction. The tree-based models were optimized using the Bayesian optimization (BO) algorithm and were compared with three standalone models in terms of daily ETO and monthly mean ETO estimations in North China, with different input combinations of essential variables. The results indicated that solar radiation (Rs) and air temperature (Ts), including the maximum, minimum, and average temperatures, in daily ETO were the key variables affecting model prediction accuracy. Rs was the most influential factor in the monthly average ETO model followed by Ts. Both relative humidity (RH) and wind speed at 2 m (U2) had little impact on ETO prediction at different scales, although their importance differed. Compared with the GBDT and RF models, the XGBoost model exhibited the best performance for daily ETO and monthly mean ETO estimations. The hybrid tree-based models with the BO algorithm outperformed standalone tree-based models. Overall, compared with the other inputs, the model with three inputs (Rs, Ts, and RH/U2) had the highest accuracy. The BO-XGBoost model exhibited superior performance in terms of the global performance index (GPI) for daily ETO and monthly mean ETO predictions and is recommended as a more accurate model for predicting daily ETO and monthly mean ETO in North China or areas with a similar climate. Crop evapotranspiration is a key parameter influencing water-saving irrigation and water resources management of agriculture. However, current models for estimating maize evapotranspiration primarily rely on meteorological data and empirical coefficients, and the estimated evapotranspiration contains uncertainties. In this study, the evapotranspiration data of summer maize were collected from typical stations in Northern China (Yucheng Station), and a back-propagation neural network (BP) model for predicting maize evapotranspiration was constructed based on meteorological data, soil data, and crop data. To further improve its accuracy, the maize evapotranspiration model was optimized using three bionic optimization algorithms, namely the sand cat swarm optimization (SCSO) algorithms, hunter–prey optimizer (HPO) algorithm, and golden jackal optimization (GJO) algorithm. The results showed that the fusion of meteorological, soil moisture, and crop data can effectively improve the accuracy of the maize evapotranspiration model. The model showed higher accuracy with the hybrid optimization model SCSO-BP compared to the stand-alone BP neural network model, with improvements of 2.7–4.8%, 17.2–25.5%, 13.9–26.8%, and 3.3–5.6% in terms of R2, RMSE, MAE, and NSE, respectively. Comprehensively compared with existing maize evapotranspiration models, the SCSO-BP model presented the highest accuracy, with R2 = 0.842, RMSE = 0.433 mm/day, MAE = 0.316 mm/day, NSE = 0.840, and overall global evaluation index (GPI) ranking the first. The spatial distribution and depth of precipitation are the main driving factors for the formation of flood disasters. Precipitation nowcasting plays a crucial role in rainstorm warning, flood mitigation and water resources management. However, high spatiotemporal resolution nowcasting is very challenging owing to the uncertain dynamics and chaos, especially at a small-scale region. In recent years, deep learning approaches were applied in precipitation nowcasting and achieved good performance in learning spatiotemporal features. In this paper, ConvLSTM model and sequences of radar reflectivity maps were used to forecast the future sequence of reflectivity maps with up to 2 h lead time in Liulin watershed with a small area of 57.4 km2. Dynamic hierarchical Z–I relationship was employed to calculate the forecasting precipitation and the forecasted spatiotemporal features were compared to the observed. The results indicated that the model can provide a well performance for the reflectivity above 10 dBZ with 0.70 of CSI for 30 min nowcasting and 0.57 for 2 h nowcasting, but was not good at forecasting the reflectivity above 30 dBZ with 0.38 of mean CSI for 30 min nowcasting and 0.12 for 2 h nowcasting, which have a decrease of 45.7% and 78.9%, respectively. The forecasted precipitation could truly show the details of precipitation spatial distribution and provide the accuracy of forecasting area with 49.2% for 30 min nowcasting. Surveys and assessments of contaminated sites primarily focus on hazardous pollutants in the soil with less attention paid to odorants. This makes the management of contaminated sites difficult. In this study, hazardous and odorous pollutants in the soil were assessed for a large site that was previously used for production of pharmaceuticals to determine the degree and characteristics of soil contamination at pharmaceutical production sites, for undertaking rational remediation measures. The main hazardous pollutants at the study site were triethylamine, n-butyric acid, benzo(a)pyrene (BaP), N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA), dibenzo(a,h)anthracene (DBA), total petroleum hydrocarbons (C10–C40) (TPH), and 1,2-dichloroethane; TEA, BA, and isovaleric acid (IC) were the main odorants. As the type and distribution of hazardous and odorous pollutants differ, it is necessary to separately assess the impact of these pollutants at a contaminated site. Soils in the surface layer pose significant non-carcinogenic (HI = 68.30) and carcinogenic risks (RT = 3.56E−5), whereas those in the lower layer only pose non-carcinogenic risks (HI > 7.43). Odorants were found at considerable concentrations both in the surface and lower layers, with the maximum concentrations being 29,309.91 and 41.27, respectively. The findings of this study should improve our understanding of soil contamination at former pharmaceutical production sites and should inform the assessment of the risks posed by contaminated sites, with problems associated with odour, and possible remediation strategies. Adequate blood supply, a prerequisite for flap survival after grafting, makes angiogenesis of the flap the biggest problem to be solved. Researches have been conducted around vascularisation in correlation with flap grafting. However, bibliometric analyses systematically examining this research field are lacking. As such, we herein sought to conduct comprehensive comparative analyses of the contributions of different researchers, institutions, and countries to this research space in an effort to identify trends and hotspots in angiogenesis and vascularisation in the context of flap grafting. Publications pertaining to angiogenesis and vascularisation in the context of flap grafting were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection. References were then analysed and plotted using Microsoft Excel 2019, VOSviewer, and CiteSpace V. In total, 2234 papers that were cited 40 048 times (17.63 citations/paper) were included in this analysis. The greatest number of studies were from the United States, with these studies exhibiting both the highest number of citations (13 577) and the greatest overall H‐index (60). For The institutions that published the greatest number of studies were WENZHOU MEDICAL UNIVERSITY (681), while UNIVERSITY OF ERLANGEN NUREMBERG has the highest number of citations (1458), and SHANGHAI JIAO TONG UNIVERSITY holds the greatest overall H‐index (20). The greatest number of studies in this research space were published by Gao WY, while Horch RE was the most commonly cited researcher in the field. The VOS viewer software clustered relevant keywords into three clusters, with clusters 1, 2, 3, and 4 corresponding to studies in which the keywords 'anatomy', 'survival', 'transplantation', 'therapy' most frequently appeared. The most promising research hotspot‐related terms in this field included 'autophagy', 'oxidative stress', 'ischemia/reperfusion injury', which exhibited a most recent average appearing year (AAY) of 2017 and after. Generally speaking, the results of this analysis indicate that the number of articles exploring angiogenesis and flap‐related research has risen steadily, with the United States and China being the two countries publishing the greatest proportion of studies in this field. The overall focus of these studies has shifted away from 'infratest and tissue engineering' towards 'mechanisms'. In the future, particular attention should be paid to emerging research hotspots, which include 'ischemia/reperfusion injury' and treatments for promoting vascularization, such as 'platelet‐rich plasma'. In light of these findings, funding agencies should continue increasing their investment in the exploration of the concrete mechanisms and interventional therapeutic relevance of angiogenesis during flap transplantation. Tourism is a large, environment-dependent global industry. As an important policy tool for environmental protection, environmental regulation plays a significant role in development of the tourism industry. Using the panel data of 284 prefecture-level cities in China from 2004 to 2018, this paper innovatively analyzes the impact mechanism of environmental regulation on China's tourism development from the perspective of the integration of institutional and environmental economics. At the same time, this paper uses the instrumental variable two-stage least squares method (IV-2SLS) to solve the endogeneity problem of environmental regulation and China's tourism development, which makes the research conclusions more robust. The main results were as follows: (1) environmental regulation significantly promoted the development of the tourism industry. Specifically, tourist arrival (TA) and tourism revenue (TR) increased 8.79% and 8.64%, respectively, when the intensity of environmental regulation increased by 1%. This effect was still robust after applying a series of tests; (2) the impact of environmental regulation on the development of the tourism industry was heterogeneous for three aspects: the domestic and inbound tourism market, urban type, and urban location; (3) environmental regulation contributed to China's tourism industry development through industrial structure upgrading, technological innovation, and urban image promotion. Our findings offer valuable insight for the concerned authority and tourism sector to understand the positive role of environmental regulation in promoting high-quality development of the tourism industry by corresponding policy-making, industrial structure upgrading, technological innovation, and urban reputation building. To measure and analyze the evolution characteristics and influencing factors of China's industrial green development level is of great significance in achieving carbon neutrality goal. Based on the panel data from 2000 to 2018 of 30 provinces in China, this research uses the super slack-based measuring model and the Malmquist-Luenberger index to calculates China's industrial green total factor productivity and to describe its evolution characteristics using the kernel density function and moreover uses the Spatial Durbin model and the partial differential method to explores its main influencing factors. This study finds that China's overall industrial green development level is not high but shows an upward trend year by year; carbon emissions, fiscal decentralization, and urbanization are not conducive to improving the national industrial green development level, whereas economic development, foreign direct investment, industrial structure, and technological progress are positive contributors. At the same time, the level of economic development and technological progress have significant direct and spatial spillover effect. Background: Congenital heart disease (CHD) is the leading cause of mortality in childhood worldwide. However, a large number of children with CHD are not diagnosed promptly in low- and middle-income regions, due to limited healthcare resources and lack the ability of prenatal and postnatal ultrasound examinations. The research on asymptomatic CHD in the community is still blank, resulting in a large number of children with asymptomatic CHD can not be found and treated in time. Through the China-Cambodia collaborative health care initiative, the project team conducted research, screened children's CHD through a sampling survey in China and Cambodia, collected relevant data, and retrospectively analyzed the data of all eligible patients. Objectives: The project aimed to evaluate the prevalence of asymptomatic CHD in a sample population of 3-18years old and effects on their growth status and treatment outcomes. Methods: We examined the prevalence of 'asymptomatic CHD' among 3-18years old children and adolescents at the township/county levels in the two participating. A total of eight provinces in China and five provinces in Cambodia were analyzed from 2017 to 2020. During 1 year follow-up after treatment, the differences in heights and weights of the treated and control groups were evaluated. Results: Among the 3,068,075 participants screened from 2017 to 2020, 3967 patients with asymptomatic CHD requiring treatment were identified [0.130%, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.126 -0.134%]. The prevalence rate of CHD ranged from 0.02 to 0.88%, and was negatively related to local per capita GDP (p = 0.028). The average height of 3310 treated CHD patients were 2.23% (95% CI: -2.51%~-1.9%) lower than that of the standard group and the average weight was − 6.41% (95% CI: -7.17%~-5.65%) lower, the developmental gap widening with advancing age. One year after treatment, the relative height difference remained comparable while that, in weight was reduced by 5.68% (95% CI: 4.27% ~7.09%). Conclusions: Asymptomatic CHD now is often overlooked and is an emerging public health challenge. Digital technology coupled with the quarantines caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has made working from anywhere (WFA)—a modern form of remote working—a widespread phenomenon. Given that WFA brings new career challenges to and engenders paradoxes of knowledge exchange among employees, this research aims to examine how the interactions of remote work time (RWT), knowledge sharing (KS), and knowledge hiding (KH) affect career development (CD) from a culturally grounded paradoxical framing of yin–yang harmonizing. The data were collected from Chinese manufacturing employees, and a moderated hierarchical regression analysis was used to examine the hypotheses. The results show an inverted U-shaped relationship between RWT and CD. The interaction of KS and KH is significantly related to CD, and the inverted U-shaped RWT–CD relationship is moderated by the interaction term, in which RWT exerts the most substantial positive impact on CD when KS is high and KH is low. This study offers valuable implications for coping with perplexing employment relationships and increasing career challenges in volatile work environments. The Central Asian Orogenic Belt (CAOB) is the world's largest accretionary orogenic belt, and its formation is related to the closure of the Paleo-Asian Ocean (PAO). However, the closure time and style of the PAO remain controversial. To address these issues, this paper presents zircon U-Pb dating, whole-rock geochemistry and zircon Lu-Hf isotope analyses of the volcanic rocks in the Faku-Kaiyuan area on the northern margin of the North China Craton. The results show that the Bachagou andesites formed in the Early Permian (287 ± 2 Ma), while the Chaijialing andesites and dacites formed in the Late Permian (253.3 ± 3.7 Ma) and Middle Triassic (244.3 ± 1.3 Ma), respectively. The Bachagou andesites and Chaijialing andesites are enriched in LILEs and LREEs and depleted in HFSEs and HREEs, indicating that they formed in the active continental margins. The Chaijialing dacites show similar geochemical signatures to adakite and formed in a syn-collisional setting. Geochemistry and isotopic analysis indicates that the Bachagou andesites were derived from a partial melting of the mantle wedge that was metasomatized by subduction fluids. The Chaijialing andesites were generated from a metasomatized mantle by slab-derived and sediment fluids. The Chaijialing dacites formed by a partial melting of thickened lower crust. Combined with previous research results, we can conclude that the Eastern PAO closed by a scissor-like movement from west to east during the Late Permian–Middle Triassic. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: To investigate the relationship between physical activity and the severity of menopausal symptoms in middle-aged women in northwest China. Methods: This was a cross-sectional online survey study. Using a snowball sampling method, 468 women aged 45 to 60 were recruited from northwest China and their demographic information was collected. The modified Kupperman Menopausal Index scale and International Physical Activity Questionnaire short form were used in this study. Random forest was used to rank the importance of variables and select the optimal combination. The direction and relative risk (odds ratio value) of selected variables were further explained with an ordinal logistic regression model. Results: The prevalence of menopausal syndromes was 74.8% and more than one-half of the participants had moderate or severe symptoms (54.3%). The Mantel-Haenszel linear-by-linear chi-square test showed a strong and negative correlation between physical activity level and the severity of menopausal symptoms (P < 0.001). Random forest demonstrated that the physical activity level was the most significant variable associated with the severity of menopausal symptoms. Multiple random forest regressions showed that the out-of-bag error rate reaches the minimum when the top 4 variables (physical activity level, menopausal status, perceived health status, and parity) in the importance ranking form an optimal variable combination. Ordinal logistic regression analysis showed that a higher physical activity level and a satisfactory perceived health status might be protective factors for menopausal symptoms (odds ratio (OR) < 1, P < 0.001); whereas perimenopausal or postmenopausal status and 2 parities might be risk factors for menopausal symptoms (OR > 1, P < 0.001). Conclusions: There is a strong negative correlation between physical activity and the severity of menopausal symptoms. The accurate prediction of daily reference crop evapotranspiration (ETO) enables effective management decision-making for agricultural water resources; this is crucial for developing water-efficient agriculture. To improve the accuracy of ETO forecasts in data-deficient areas, this study uses a decision tree algorithm (classification and regression tree [CART]) to obtain the effects of various factors on ETO at typical stations in arid and semiarid regions of China. A combination of factors with considerable influence on the model was selected as the input for constructing a kernel-extreme-learning-machine (KELM) daily reference evapotranspiration prediction model, and three bionic optimization algorithms (i.e., sparrow search optimization algorithm, Harris Hawks optimization algorithm, and lion swarm optimization algorithm) were integrated to optimize KELM prediction model parameters and improve the accuracy of daily reference evapotranspiration prediction. The results indicate that temperature (maximum or minimum temperature) is the primary factor influencing ETO, and the range of importance is 0.399–0.554. RH and Ra are also key factors influencing ETO; the hybrid model optimized using the bionic optimization algorithm provides advantages over the independent KELM model, and the SSA-KELM model has the highest accuracy among hybrid models, with a root-mean-square error of 0.408–1.964, R2 of 0.545–0.982, mean absolute error of 0.273–1.086, and Nash–Sutcliffe efficiency coefficient of 0.658–0.967. The top five factors extracted using the CART algorithm are recommended as inputs for constructing the SSA-KELM model for ETO estimation in arid and semiarid regions of China, and this model can also serve as a reference for ETO forecasting in similar regions. Four new species of Russula subsection Sardoninae from northern and southwestern China under coniferous and deciduous trees are proposed as R. begonia, R. photinia, R. rhodochroa, and R. rufa. Illustrations and descriptions of R. gracillima, R. leucomarginata, R. roseola, and the above four new species are provided based on evidence of morphological characters and phylogenetic analyses of the internal transcribed spacer (ITS), as well as the multi-locus of mtSSU, nLSU, rpb1, rpb2 and tef1-α. The precise estimation of reference crop evapotranspiration (ETO) is vital for regional and irrigation water resource management. It is also beneficial to the rational allocation of regional water resources and alleviates the disparity between water supply and demand. This study accurately estimates the ETO of 14 meteorological stations in southern China. Five neural network models (extreme learning machine [ELM], back-propagation neural network [BP], ant colony optimization [ACO]-BP, bird swarm algorithm [BSA]-BP, and cat swarm optimization [CSO]-BP) were introduced to predict ETO with limited factors using different methods. The results demonstrated that models involving T (average, maximum, and minimum air temperature), sunshine duration (n), and relative humidity (RH) exhibited the highest accuracy of all studied combinations; the role of T, n, RH, wind speed (U2) and average atmospheric pressure (AP) regarding ETO gradually decreased. These three biological heuristic algorithms (ACO, BSA, and CSO) each significantly enhanced the capability of the BP model. The accuracy and computational cost of the CSO-BP model are better than those built by other algorithms. Therefore, it is strongly recommended to use the CSO-BP model for ETO estimation in southern China. We investigated the prevalence and clinical metabolic characteristics of lean nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in an elderly Chinese population and assessed the relevance of lipid markers and genetic variation. All 5,338 community subjects underwent detailed clinical and laboratory examinations and were divided into three groups: lean (Body mass index (BMI) < 23 kg/m2, n = 2,012), overweight (BMI = 23–24.9 kg/m2, n = 1,354), and obese (BMI ≥ 25 kg/m2, n = 1,972). Single nucleotide polymorphisms were selected based on those reported in previous NAFLD or obesity genome-wide association studies. The frequencies of alleles and genotypes were calculated and statistically analyzed with Pearson's χ2 tests. One-way ANCOVA was used to test the association between positive SNPs and metabolic parameters in lean NAFLD individuals. Our results showed that the C allele frequency of rs2279026, the G allele of rs2279028, the C allele of rs780093, and the C allele frequency of rs1260326 were higher in obese NAFLD than in lean NAFLD (P < 0.05). In addition, we observed an association between the CC of rs1421085, TT of rs3751812, AA of rs8050136, and AA of rs9939609 genotypes in the FTO gene and low-density lipoprotein levels (P < 0.05). In conclusion, our findings provide a unique perspective on the prevalence, genetic characteristics, and metabolic profile of NAFLD in older lean individuals in China. Simple Summary: For the reason that the systematic breeding programs and pedigree records are unavailable in the indigenous livestock breeds, it is hard to evaluate their genetic diversity and population structures using the traditional pedigree-based and demographic approaches. The Xieka cattle are an indigenous breed geographically distributed in the southeastern Sichuan, China, and have the long-term evolutionary adaptation to local subtropical highland environments. To explore efficient programs on genetic resources conservation and utilization, the genetic diversity and population structures of Xieka cattle were investigated in this study using genomic information. Our analyses revealed that this indigenous cattle breed have remained a relatively high degree of genetic diversity and have not suffered from the recently generated inbreeding. Furthermore, some candidate genomic regions and genes were suggested to be likely associated with the diverse production traits in cattle. In aiming to achieve sustainable development goals in the livestock industry, it is becoming increasingly necessary and important for the effective conservation of genetic resources. There are some indigenous cattle breeds in Sichuan, southwest China, for which, however, the genetic diversity and population structures still remain unknown because of the unavailability of systematic breeding programs and pedigree information. Xieka cattle are an indigenous breed locally distributed in southeastern Sichuan and have a long-term evolutionary adaptation to local environments and climates. In this study, we obtained 796,828 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) through sequencing the genomes of 30 Xieka cattle and used them for analyzing the genetic diversity and runs of homozygosity (ROH). The mean nucleotide diversity was 0.28 and 72% of SNPs were found to be in the heterozygous states. A total of 4377 ROH were detected with even distribution among all autosomes, and 74% of them were lower than 1 Mb in length. Meanwhile, only five ROH were found longer than 5 Mb. We further determined 19 significant genomic regions that were obviously enriched by ROH, in which 35 positional candidate genes were found. Some of these genes have been previously reported to be significantly associated with various production traits in cattle, such as meat quality, carcass performances, and diseases. In conclusion, the relatively high degree of genetic diversity of Xieka cattle was revealed using the genomic information, and the proposed candidate genes will help us optimize the breeding programs regarding this indigenous breed. As a systematic investigation of the correlations between physical examination indicators (PEIs) is lacking, most PEIs are currently independently used for disease warning. This results in the general physical examination having limited diagnostic values. Here, we systematically analyzed the correlations in 221 PEIs between healthy and 34 unhealthy statuses in 803,614 individuals in China. Specifically, the study population included 711,928 healthy participants, 51,341 patients with hypertension, 12,878 patients with diabetes, and 34,997 patients with other unhealthy statuses. We found rich relevance between PEIs in the healthy physical status (7662 significant correlations, 31.5%). However, in the disease conditions, the PEI correlations changed. We focused on the difference in PEIs between healthy and 35 unhealthy physical statuses and found 1239 significant PEI differences, suggesting that they could be candidate disease markers. Finally, we established machine learning algorithms to predict health status using 15–16% of the PEIs through feature extraction, reaching a 66–99% accurate prediction, depending on the physical status. This new reference of the PEI correlation provides rich information for chronic disease diagnosis. Urbanization has profound impacts on economic development and environmental quality. Some of the serious consequences of urbanization are the changes in the thermal environment, which directly affect the greater environment and quality of life. Although many studies have been performed on urban heat islands, few have specifically examined the thermal evolution of rapidly expanding ancient cities and the impacts of urbanization on the thermal environments of important heritage sites. In this study, we analyzed the temporal and spatial patterns of the thermal environment quantified as the surface urban heat island (SUHI) and land surface temperature (LST) values from 2000 to 2018 in Xi'an, an ancient city with rich cultural heritage in China. Specifically, we analyzed the temporal evolution of the thermal environments of the functional zones and heritage sites and explore their coupling relationships with the overall temperature of the study area using a statistical analysis approach. Furthermore, we revealed time-sensitive changes in temperature regimes using the newly proposed double temperature curve approach (DTCA). The results showed that the heat island phenomenon has been intensifying in Xi'an, as evidenced by the summer daytime mean SUHI values being greater than 7 °C continuously since 2010 and the increased frequency of high-intensity SUHI effects. Extreme heat conditions were more frequent in the old urban area (built-up and in existence before 2000) than in the new urban area, while SUHI values in the new area deteriorated more rapidly. The changes in temperature in the functional zones were strongly synchronized with the overall temperature changes in Xi'an, and the temperature differences increased linearly with the overall temperature. The LST values in the four major historical heritage sites investigated in this study were 2–8 °C higher than the background temperature and were decoupled from background temperature changes. From the DTCA, we found the time periods of the thermal environment regime changes for each functional zone or heritage site, which were largely the result of policy guidance. Regional synchronization, site decoupling, and regime shifts in LST suggest opportunities for regional planning and urban landscape optimization to reduce adverse effects of urbanization on the urban environment, particularly in cities with rich historical heritage sites. The root tuber and rhizome of Curcuma longa L., abbreviated, respectively, as RCL and RHCL, are used as different medicines in China. In this work, volatile oils were extracted from RCL and RHCL. Then, gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS) was used for RCL and RHCL volatile oils analysis, and 45 compounds were identified. The dominant constituents both in volatile oils of RCL and RHCL were turmerone, (−)-zingiberene, and β-turmerone, which covered more than 60% of the total area. The chromatographic fingerprint similarities between RCL and RHCL were not less than 0.943, indicating that their main chemical compositions were similar. However, there were also some compounds that were varied in RCL and RHCL. Based on the peak area ratio of 45 compounds, the RCL and RHCL samples were separated into principal component analysis (PCA) and partial least squares discriminant analysis (PLS-DA). Then, 20 compounds with a variable importance for the projection (VIP) value of more than 1 were the high potential contributors for RCL and RHCL differences. Furthermore, ferric ion-reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) assay results demonstrated that the volatile oils of RCL and RHCL had antioxidant activities. To investigate the associations of 11 genetic single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in FRAP1 and PDGFRA with high myopia (HM) in a Han Chinese population. A total of 442 HM patients and 947 healthy controls were recruited for this study. Five genetic models were analysed to further evaluate the association of target SNPs with HM. SNP functional annotation database tools were used to predict and analyse the potential function of these SNPs. Our findings indicated that rs2114039 located in PDGFRA had significant association with HM in a Han Chinese population (P = 2.00E-06, OR = 0.647, 95%CI = 0.542–0.773). The common genotypes rs2114039CC, rs2114039CT and rs2114039CT+TT all had a decreased risk of HM when compared with rs2114039TT (P = 4.10E-05, OR = 0.290, 95%CI = 0.161–0.524; P = 1.00E-03, OR = 0.626, 95%CI = 0.479–0.819; P = 9.00E-06, OR = 0.560, 95%CI = 0.433–0.724, respectively). In addition, compared with rs2114039CT+TT, rs2114039CC also had a decreased risk of HM (P = 3.59E-04, OR = 0.347, 95% CI = 0.194–0.620). Our findings indicated that rs2114039, located in PDGFRA, was significantly associated with HM in the southwest Han Chinese population. Additionally, rs2114039 might influence the function of PDGFRA by regulating the growth of human vision through different pathways. Diabetes seriously endangers human health and causes a huge economic burden. With the improvement of people's living standard, the prevalence of diabetes is getting higher and higher, and age is becoming younger. It is an increasingly serious global problem. Therefore, it is imperative to find the drugs to treat diabetes. Ethnic medicine is an important part of the world's medicinal treasure house and has its own unique system. This study systematically combined the theoretical understanding of the prevention and treatment of diabetes of Tibetan, Mongolian, Miao, Dai, Uygur, and Yi people by searching the existing literature studies published until 2021, library collection resources (related ethnic monographs, medical books, standards of medicinal materials, etc.), CNKI, PubMed, and other databases and collected and sorted the relevant medicines. A total of 112 kinds of ethnic medicines for the prevention and treatment of diabetes have been discovered, including plant medicines (105 kinds), animal medicines (6 kinds), and fungal medicines (1 kind). The composition of family and genus, medicinal parts, and life forms of medicinal plants were analyzed, and the number of drugs used in the prevention and treatment of diabetes in each ethnic group was statistically analyzed. The results showed that Rosaceae was at the top of the list, and the drugs used in underground parts accounted for 33.90% of the total, and the medicinal plants were mainly herbaceous, and the Mongolians have the largest number of diabetes medicines. In addition, CNKI, PubMed, and other databases selected "medicinal materials name," "diabetes," and "hypoglycemia" as keywords, the top 30 medicinal materials reported in existing literature were listed, and their Chinese name, the Latin name of the original plant, family and genus, nationality used, medicinal parts, and active ingredients related to the prevention and treatment of diabetes were introduced in detail. Among the 30 medicines, Astragalus membranaceus, Pueraria lobata, and Coptis chinensis are the most commonly used. Through literature research, this study summarized the existing theories of ethnic medicine for the prevention and treatment of diabetes, collected and sorted out ethnic medicine, clarified the potential mechanism of ethnic medicine, and provided effective data compilation. Huaganjian decoction (HGJD) was first recorded in the classic " Jing Yue Quan Shu " during the Ming dynasty, and it has been extensively applied in clinical practice to treat liver diseases for over 300 years in China. However, its bioactive constituents and relevant pharmacological mechanism are still unclear. In this study, a strategy integrating network analysis and metabolomics was applied to reveal mechanism of HGJD in treating cholestatic hepatic injury (CHI). Firstly, we observed the therapeutic effect of HGJD against CHI with an alpha-naphthylisothiocyanate (ANIT) induced CHI rat model. Then, we utilized UPLC-Q-Exactive MS/MS method to analyze the serum migrant compounds of HGJD in CHI rats. Based on these compounds, network analysis was conducted to screen for potential active components, and key signaling pathways interrelated to therapeutic effect of HGJD. Meanwhile, serum metabolomics was utilized to investigate the underlying metabolic mechanism of HGJD against CHI. Finally, the predicted key pathway was verified by western blot and biochemical analysis using rat liver tissue from in vivo efficacy experiment. Our results showed that HGJD significantly alleviated ANIT induced CHI. Totally, 31 compounds originated from HGJD have been identified in the serum sample. PI3K/Akt/Nrf2 signaling pathway related to GSH synthesis was demonstrated as one of the major pathways interrelated to therapeutic effect of HGJD against CHI. Pseudorabies virus (PRV) is a pathogen that causes substantial economic losses to the swine industry. With the emergence and widespread of PRV variants since 2011 in China, current commercial vaccines cannot provide complete protection against PRV infection. Therefore, antiviral drugs may work as an alternative way to control and prevent PRV. In this study, the inhibitory effects and underlying molecular mechanisms of meclizine against PRV were studied. Meclizine displayed a significant inhibitory effect against PRV when it was added before, simultaneously with, or after virus infection. The inhibitory effect of meclizine occurred during viral entry and cell-to-cell spreading but not at viral attachment into PK-15 cells. Meclizine also inhibited viral particle release at the late stage of infection. The antiviral effect of meclizine was tested in mice, and the results showed that meclizine reduced the severity of clinical symptoms and the viral loads in tissues, and delayed the death, after PRV challenge. The above results indicated that meclizine had an inhibitory effect on PRV. Our findings will contribute to the development of potential therapeutic drugs against PRV infection. Liangshan cattle are a very small indigenous breed with adult weight of less than 300 Kg and have been mainly distributed in the Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture of Southwestern Sichuan, China. Due to its long-term adaptation to local environments, Liangshan cattle is a valuable genetic resource and should be paid with more attentions. However, the genetic diversity of Liangshan cattle have not been specifically investigated yet, which would be required when designing the appropriate conservation and utilization programs. In this study, we successfully employed the restriction-site-associated DNA sequencing (RAD-seq) approach to explore a total of 84,854 genome-wide and high-confidence SNPs of Liangshan cattle. All these SNPs were evenly distributed through all chromosomes with an average of 98 SNPs per 1-Mb region. The nucleotide diversity, expected heterozygosity, polymorphism information content of Liangshan cattle were 0.227, 0.223 and 0.183, respectively. Furthermore, there was no obvious difference on the genetic diversity among the three studied geographical populations. In conclusion, we provided a list of SNPs that could be used in the follow-up studies for Liangshan cattle and revealed a relatively high genetic variation in this gene pool. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Three new species of Russula section Ingratae, found in Guizhou and Jiangsu Provinces, southern China, are proposed: R. straminella, R. subpectinatoides and R. succinea. Photographs, line drawings and detailed morphological descriptions for these species are provided with comparisons against closely-related taxa. Phylogenetic analysis of the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region supported the recognition of these specimens as new species. Green credit policy is an innovative measure in the financial industry and can help enterprises reduce energy consumption, reverse the situation of environmental pollution and resource waste, and promote sustainable development of the economy and society based on guiding fund flows into the green environmental protection industry. This research thus uses panel data of 30 provinces and cities in China from 2000 to 2017 to examine the impact of a green credit policy on the level of energy efficient utilization. We establish the EBM (epsilon-based measure) super-efficiency model to measure the level of energy efficient utilization in China, apply the regression discontinuity design (RDD) model to empirically study the net effect of the green credit policy on the level of energy efficient utilization, and assess the policy's regional heterogeneity. Finds present that the level of energy efficient utilization in China exhibits a fluctuating upward trend, and there are certain spatial heterogeneities across its regions. The overall level of the eastern region's energy efficient utilization is the best, followed by the central and western regions in that order. The results of RDD based on the national perspective indicate that the green credit policy has a significantly positive effect on the level of energy efficient utilization, while subregional regression results reveal that improvement caused by implementation of the green credit policy varies across regions in China. Cholecystitis and cholelithiasis is one of the factors threatening human health. It is very important to find drugs for the treatment of cholecystitis and cholelithiasis. Tibetan medicine is one of the traditional medical systems in China. It has rich experience in treating various diseases. This paper summarizes the treatment of cholecystitis and cholelithiasis through literature review of Tibetan medicine monographs, drug standards, Tibetan medicine, and prescriptions. In the Tibetan medicine system, 170 kinds of Tibetan medicine and 38 kinds of Tibetan prescriptions were found to treat cholecystitis and cholelithiasis. Among them, there are 35 modern researches related to the treatment of cholecystitis and cholelithiasis. Their names, families, medicinal parts, chemical constituents, and pharmacological activities are introduced in detail. These Tibetan medicines and prescriptions may be a precious gift of ancient Tibetan medicine to the world, and may also become potential drug candidates for the treatment of cholecystitis and cholelithiasis. Modern phytochemistry, pharmacology, metabonomics, and/or clinical trials can be used to confirm its medicinal value in the treatment of cholecystitis and cholelithiasis, identify active compounds, clarify its potential mechanism of action, and clarify its toxicity and side effects. The rapid development of renewable energy enterprises has produced important benefits for contemporary efforts to address serious environmental pollution and depletion of fossil energy resources. However, the environmental pollution that exists in the production and operation of enterprises has been ignored, and so an objective evaluation of this issue is becoming urgent. This paper established an evaluation index system for green technology innovation efficiency and used dynamic data envelopment analysis (DEA) considering undesirable output to measure the green technology innovation efficiency of renewable energy enterprises, and the improvement potential of ineffective enterprises was put forward. The results show that: (1) the green technology innovation of renewable energy enterprises needs to be greatly improved. The average efficiency score of sample was 0.385 over four years, and only 16 enterprises were found to operate effectively; (2) when effective and inefficient DMUs were compared, the latter were found to have significant output shortfalls, especially in environmental tax, and were found to show an improvement potential of 55.71 percent; (3) the efficiency analysis of different types of renewable energy enterprises found that the green technology innovation efficiency score of nuclear energy enterprises was the highest, and rapidly rose; (4) the green technology innovation efficiency of renewable energy enterprises in the western region greatly exceeded the efficiency of the eastern and central regions. The efficiency evaluation results could not only provide a guidance for central and local governances to optimize the structure of renewable energy sector, but also potentially provide a reference for the operation and management of renewable energy enterprises in China. Context: Accurate methods for early gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) (during the first trimester of pregnancy) prediction in Chinese and other populations are lacking.Objectives: This work aimed to establish effective models to predict early GDM.Methods: Pregnancy data for 73 variables during the first trimester were extracted from the electronic medical record system. Based on a machine learning (ML)-driven feature selection method, 17 variables were selected for early GDM prediction. To facilitate clinical application, 7 variables were selected from the 17-variable panel. Advanced ML approaches were then employed using the 7-variable data set and the 73-variable data set to build models predicting early GDM for different situations, respectively.Results: A total of 16 819 and 14 992 cases were included in the training and testing sets, respectively. Using 73 variables, the deep neural network model achieved high discriminative power, with area under the curve (AUC) values of 0.80. The 7-variable logistic regression (LR) model also achieved effective discriminate power (AUC = 0.77). Low body mass index (BMI) (≤ 17) was related to an increased risk of GDM, compared to a BMI in the range of 17 to 18 (minimum risk interval) (11.8% vs 8.7%, P = .09). Total 3,3,5'-triiodothyronine (T3) and total thyroxin (T4) were superior to free T3 and free T4 in predicting GDM. Lipoprotein(a) was demonstrated a promising predictive value (AUC = 0.66).Conclusions: We employed ML models that achieved high accuracy in predicting GDM in early pregnancy. The conceptual design of China fusion engineering test reactor (CFETR) is now ongoing. Its toroidal field magnets with a peak field of ∼15 T require a new conductor testing facility with higher background magnetic field to test and evaluate the performance of these conductors. As part of the study of CFETR, the facility named Super X (SUPERconducting eXperiment) is planning to be constructed at Institute Plasma and Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ASIPP) and a conceptual design activity related is going on in parallel. The background magnetic field of the facility is generated by three concentric pairs of split coils with a bore of ∼600-mm diameter, inner coil (IC, peak field of 15.6 T), middle coil (MC, 13 T), and outer coil (OC, 10.5 T) in which IC and MC are connected in series with a nominal operating current of 7.9 kA, whereas OC operates at 13.5 kA. Each split pair coil is made of its own distinctive rectangular shaped cable-in-conduit conductor. Background: Computed tomography (CT)‐based spiculated sign is a risk factor for malignancy in patients with lung nodules (LNs). The present meta‐analysis aimed to evaluate the diagnostic utility of CT‐based spiculated sign as a means of differentiating between malignant and benign LNs. Methods: PubMed, Cochrane Library and Embase were reviewed from January 2000 to March 2020 for eligible studies. Stata v12.0 was used to conduct this meta‐analysis. Results: We identified 19 retrospective studies for inclusion in this meta‐analysis. These studies compiled data pertaining to 8549 LNs (5547 malignant and 3003 benign). Pooled sensitivity, specificity, positive likelihood ratio (PLR), negative likelihood ratio (NLR) and diagnostic odds ratios (DOR) were 0.51 (95% CI: 0.36‐0.65), 0.84 (95% CI: 0.74‐0.91), 3.15 (95% CI: 2.34‐4.23), 0.59 (95% CI: 0.47‐0.73) and 5.36 (95% CI: 3.93‐7.31), respectively. The area under curve (AUC) was 0.76. Significant heterogeneity was detected among these studies with respect to sensitivity (I2 = 98.4%, P =.00), specificity (I2 = 95.8%, P =.00), PLR (I2 = 78.9%, P =.00), NLR (I2 = 99.3%, P =.00) and DOR (I2 = 100%, P =.00). A meta‐regression analysis revealed that the country in which a study was conducted (China vs Not China) had a strong influence on reported sensitivity and specificity. No significant publication bias was detected via Deeks' funnel plot asymmetry test (P =.191). Background. The long-term insulin therapy for type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) fails to achieve optimal glycemic control and avoid adverse events simultaneously. Stem cells have unique immunomodulatory capacities and have been considered as a promising interventional strategy for T1DM. Stem cell therapy in T1DM has been tried in many studies. However, the results were controversial. We thus performed a meta-analysis to update the efficacy and safety of stem cell therapy in patients with T1DM. Methods. We systematically searched the Medline, EMBASE, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, ClinicalTrials.gov, Web of Science, Wan Fang Data, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, VIP database, and the Chinese Biomedical Literature Database (SinoMed) for relevant studies published before March 19, 2019. The outcomes included parameters for glycemic control (i.e., glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels and insulin dosages), β cell function (i.e., fasting C-peptide levels and area-under-curve of C-peptide concentration (AUCC)), and relative risk of adverse events. Statistical analysis was conducted by using RevMan 5.3 and Stata 12.0. Results. Five randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and eight nonrandomized concurrent control trials (NRCCTs) with a total of 396 individuals were finally included into the meta-analysis. Among RCTs, stem cell therapy could significantly reduce HbA1c levels (MD = − 1.20 , 95% CI -1.91 to -0.49, P = 0.0009) and increase fasting C-peptide levels (MD = 0.25 , 95% CI 0.04 to 0.45, P = 0.02) and AUCC (SMD = 0.66 , 95% CI 0.13 to 1.18, P = 0.01). Stem cell therapy could also reduce insulin dosages (SMD = − 2.65 , 95% CI -4.86 to -0.45, P = 0.02) at 6 months after treatment. NRCCTs also had consistent results. Furthermore, RCTs showed stem cell therapy did not increase relative risk of gastrointestinal symptom (RR = 0.69, 95% CI 0.14 to 3.28, P = 0.64) and infection (RR = 0.97, 95% CI 0.40 to 2.34, P = 0.95). However, NRCCTs showed stem cell therapy increased relative risk of gastrointestinal symptom (RR = 44.49, 95% CI 9.20 to 215.18, P < 0.00001). Conclusion. Stem cell therapy for T1DM may improve glycemic control and β cell function without increasing the risk of serious adverse events. Top‐down and bottom‐up controls regulate the structure and stability of ecosystems, but their relative roles in terrestrial systems have been debated. Here we studied a hydro‐inundated land‐bridge system in subtropical China and tested the relative importance of these two controls in determining the rodent‐mediated regeneration of a locally dominant tree species. Our results showed that both controls operated in terrestrial habitats and that their relative importance switched as habitat size changed. Habitat loss initially removed predators of rodents that released rodent populations and triggered massive seed predation (top‐down control), leading to reduced seedling establishment. A further reduction in habitat size led to decrease in rodent population that was supposed to increase seedling survival of the tree species, but the decline in habitat size deteriorated the abiotic environments (bottom‐up control) that severely prevented seedling recruitment. As the ongoing global land use change is creating increasing number of small‐sized forest fragments, our findings provide novel insights into the restoration of seriously fragmented forests. Purpose: Our study is a retrospective observational study conducted in one of the largest clinical centers of neurosurgery in China. We aimed to investigate the antimicrobial susceptibility patterns of the Enterobacteriaceae isolates responsible for nosocomial meningitis/encephalitis in post-neurosurgical patients. Meanwhile, we tried to evaluate the risk factors for mortality following Enterobacteriaceae meningitis/encephalitis. Patients and Methods: Medical data on clinical characteristics, antibiotic susceptibilities, and mortality were reviewed until patients' discharge or death in the hospital. Data for a total of 164 cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) infection cases due to Enterobacteriaceae after neurosurgery were collected between January 2014 and November 2019 in order to identify risk factors affecting the outcome. Kaplan–Meier survival analysis and multivariable Cox proportional hazard models were applied. Results: In this study, a total of 2416 neurosurgical meningitis/encephalitis cases were reported between 2014 and 2019. Enterobacteriaceae accounted for 7.3% (176/2416) of all the bacterial infections. Of them, 164 Enterobacteriaceae isolates were available to divide into two groups according to the final outcome of whether the patient died or survived. In total, 38 patients died (23.2%) and 126 patients survived (76.8%). The most frequent infecting species was Klebsiella pneumoniae (47.0%, 77/164). Fourteen-day and 30-day mortality rates were 7.9% (13/164) and 15.2% (25/164). Kaplan–Meier survival analysis revealed that the risk factors of Enterobacteriaceae meningitis/encephalitis that resulted in poor outcomes included comorbidities, Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) score, sepsis, intensive care unit (ICU) admission, extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL)-producing Enterobacteriaceae, and ventilation. A GCS score of less than or equal to 8 (P=0.04, HR 2.562) was identified to be a significant risk factor for mortality according to the multivariable Cox proportional hazards model. Conclusion: In-hospital mortality caused by Enterobacteriaceae meningitis/encephalitis in neurosurgery was high. Purpose: No study so far has paid attention to strabismus-related spinal imbalance. This study aimed to determine the epidemiology of thoracic scoliosis in children and adolescents with strabismus and investigate the association of two diseases.Methods and Design: A cross-sectional study. Study group consists of 1935 consecutive candidates for strabismus surgery (4-18 years); Control group consists of the age- and sex-matched patients with respiratory diseases. All subjects underwent a screening program based on chest plain radiographs using the Cobb method. Their demographic information, clinical variables and results of Cobb angle were recorded and analyzed.Results: A significantly higher prevalence of thoracic scoliosis (289/1935, 14.94% versus 58/1935, 3.00%) was found in study group compared with control group. Among strabismic patients, the coronal thoracic scoliosis curve mainly distributed in right and in main thoracic (198/289) and in the curves 10°-19° (224/289); Age range 7-9 years (103/1935), female (179/1935) and concomitant exotropia patients (159/851) were more likely to have thoracic scoliosis. According to the logistic regression, thoracic scoliosis had no significant association with age, BMI, duration of illness and onset age (p > 0.05). However, gender, BCVA, type of strabismus and degree of strabismus showed a significant relationship with the prevalence of thoracic scoliosis (p < 0.05).Conclusions: With a pooled prevalence of 14.94%, strabismus patients showed a great higher risk of developing thoracic scoliosis. Screening for scoliosis in strabismus patients can be helpful to discover a high prevalence of potential coronal scoliosis. A great progress in the electrical performance of high-temperature superconductor (HTS) REBCO tapes allows for a much increased transport current capability in cables especially at high magnet fields. This is of interest to future fusion magnet applications. A variant type of twisted stacked-tape cable called quasi-round twisted stacked-tapes conductor (QisTac) is proposed and developed for the superconducting conductor of the China fusion engineering test reactor. The stack of the twisted HTS tapes is wrapped by a tight spiral made with copper wires. The stack with the copper wire is, then, soldered to form the solid round conductor, which is reliable and easy to manufacture in long lengths. A QisTac sample with four REBCO tapes was prepared and measured at 77 K and in the self-field condition. The measurement result shows the expected critical current calculated from the individual tapes considering the self-field effect. The bending characteristic of the sample was also tested under different bending radii. The critical current is reduced by roughly 5% at 0.54% bending strain. Some residual bending strain is maintained when the maximal bending force is released. This result is promising, but reproducibility testing and tests at high field and current are needed for future high field application. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

By absorbing advanced knowledge and business practices from their overseas partners, international joint ventures (IJVs) have helped the development of many aspects of Chinese business. Do IJVs in China use more sophisticated advertising budgeting methods than their local counterparts? To test this, a construct was devised to measure budgetary sophistication, taking into account the tendency of firms to use multiple methods. Then, personal interviews were conducted with over 200 advertisers in China, representing a mix of Chinese state-owned enterprises (CSOEs), IJVs, and private companies. Their budgeting sophistication scores were then related to demographic, attitudinal, and behavioral variables. Results showed that the most common budgeting method used was "judgmental" and the most common decision-making process was "bottom-up, top-down." On average, firms used more than two budgeting methods. IJVs and firms that adjust their budgeting methods for different profitability levels used more sophisticated budgeting methods. Many data have been reported from the Early Palaeozoic subduction complex belt and accretionary arc to the south of the Solonker‐Xar Moron‐Changchun‐Yanji Suture (SXCYS) zone. However, as the suture is covered to the east by the Mesozoic–Cenozoic Songliao Basin, there have yet been no related reports about the Early Palaeozoic igneous rocks in this area. The authors discovered an Early Palaeozoic granitoid intrusion in the Fangjiatun area, northern Liaoning, and performed petrologic, geochemical, zircon U–Pb dating and Hf isotopic analyses on it. Zircon SHRIMP U–Pb dating results show that the intrusion formed at 437–432 Ma, that is, in the late stage of the Early Silurian. Petrogeochemical analysis indicates that the intrusion records 63.14%–66.45% SiO2, with Na2O/K2O ratios of 1.01–6.12 and magnesian index (Mg#) values of 32.42–40.82. The REEs show a certain degree of LREE/HREE fractionation and slightly lower ΣREE contents. The trace elements are relatively enriched in Rb, Ba, Th, K, and Sr (large‐ion lithophile elements [LILEs]) and depleted in Nb, Ta, P, and Ti (high‐field‐strength elements [HFSEs]), displaying continental magmatic arc characteristics. The rocks have high Sr mass fractions, low Y and Yb mass fractions, and high Sr/Y ratios, which are consistent with the geochemical signatures of typical adakites. Zircon Hf isotopic analyses indicate that their εHf(t) values range from 0.29–6.56, reflecting the relatively depleted signatures of the source area. Based on its occurrence location and emplacement time, the intrusion is interpreted to have been produced by tectonic thermal events during the subduction of the Palaeo‐Asian oceanic crust beneath the northern margin of the North China Craton (NCC), thus reflecting the existence of an Early Palaeozoic continental marginal accretionary arc in the eastern segment of the NCC along the south of the SXCYS and provide new evidence for the tectonic evolution of the northern margin of the NCC in the Early Palaeozoic. There is a controversy regarding the amalgamation of Xing'an and Songnen Blocks along the Hegenshan‐Heihe Suture (HHS) in the eastern Central Asian Orogenic Belt (CAOB). To solve this problem, we performed detailed study on the granites from the Zhangdaqi area, adjacent to the north of the HHS in the northern part of the Great Xing'an Range, NE China. Geochemically, the granites in the study area are metaluminous‐weak peraluminous and high‐K calc‐alkaline series. Trace elements of the granites show that LREEs are relatively enriched, while HREEs are relatively deficient and obvious REE fractionation. The granites are characterized by obvious negative Eu anomalies, meanwhile, they are relatively enriched in Rb, K, Th and depleted in Ba, Nb, Sr, P, Ti. All the geochemical features suggest that the granites in the Zhangdaqi area are aluminum A‐type granites. The zircon LA‐ICP‐MS U‐Pb ages of these granites are 294–298 Ma, indicating that they formed in the Early Permian. These granites also have positive εHf (t) values (8.4–14.2) and a relatively young two‐stage model age between 449 Ma and 977 Ma, implying that the magma was derived from the re‐melting of the Early Paleozoic‐Neoproterozoic juvenile crust. Combined with geochemical characteristics (Nb/Ta ratios of 9.0–22.2, and Zr/Hf ratios of 52.3–152.0), we believe that the magmatic source area is a mixture of partial melting of the lower crust and depleted mantle. A‐type granites and bimodal volcanic rocks along the Hegenshan‐Heihe Suture formed during the Late Carboniferous‐Early Permian, indicating that the HHS between Xing'an and Songnen Blocks closed in the late Early‐Carboniferous. Subsequently, the Zhangdaqi area was in a post‐orogenic extensional environment from Late Carboniferous to Early Permian and resulted in the formation of the A‐type granites. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Excessive greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions have caused serious global warming and climate change. As the construction and demolition waste (CDW) end of life disposal process is a source of GHG emissions, it is vital to precisely estimate and reduce CDW end of life GHG emissions. The precise estimation of CDW information is essential for GHG estimation and reduction. However, as current CDW information and associated GHG estimation methods tend to be inaccurate, in this paper, a building information modeling (BIM)-based CDW information management system (IMS) is constructed that provides precise CDW information and a detailed information estimation process. To facilitate the accurate quantification of CDW disposal GHG emissions, mathematical formulae that include several GHG emission factors are proposed. A practical case study from China is then given to demonstrate the efficiency and effectiveness of the proposed methodology in quantifying and reducing CDW disposal GHG emissions. Accurate GHG emission estimation are determined for fifteen CDW disposal types and a comparison are conducted. Concrete was found to have the highest carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide emissions during transportation and the highest carbon dioxide emissions during handling, and organics were found to have the highest decomposition methane emissions. Targeted suggestions are given for source-separated CDW disposal GHG emission reduction based on the different emission characteristics. The combination of the BIM-based CDW IMS and the developed mathematical formulae were found to efficiently and accurately determine the CDW information and the associated GHG emissions, and therefore provide a practical guide to reducing the serious environmental damage generated by CDW disposal. • The proposed methodology can contribute to estimate precise CDW information. • The proposed methodology can accurately quantify CDW GHG emissions. • Detailed emissions situations of source-separated CDW can be obtained. • Targeted GHG reduction measures can be given for source-separated CDW. • The methodology is effective enough to reduce CDW GHG emissions in different regions. POEMS syndrome is a rare paraneoplastic disorder characterized secondary to a rare plasma cell dyscrasia. Here, we aimed to analyze the clinical characteristics of large sample cases of POEMS in Chinese subjects through making a review of the Chinese literature. Four databases were electronically searched from inception until October 2016. Case reports and case series were identified. Six hundred studies with 1946 participants were identified. The first case was reported in 1986, and the number of reported cases peaked in 2009 and 2010. The top seven provinces on the number of reported cases were in the south-east area of China. The top three departments on the number of published papers and reported cases were ordinally department of Neurology, Hematology, and Endocrinology. The ratio of male to female was about 2.23. The range of age onset was from 10 to 81 years with the mean age of 46.39 (SD, 12.10 years). The initial symptoms of POEMS with peripheral neuropathy, edema and effusions, endocrinopathy, skin changes, and organomegaly accounted for 60.44, 15.72, 9.87, 8.05, and 2.13%, respectively, and subsequently acquired above symptoms as the prevalence was 99.49, 81.91, 75.56, 77.08, and 83.09%, respectively. Cadmium (Cd) contamination is one of the most serious global environmental problems, and phytoremediation, which uses Cd-accumulator plants, is potentially one of the sustainable solutions. Pot experiments with natural and Cd-amended soils were conducted to investigate the accumulation of heavy metals in 10 leading cultivars of tobacco in China. The extraction ability and profiles of Cd accumulation among plant organs were also analyzed. The tobacco roots accumulated cobalt, nickel, and Cd, while the leaf highly bioaccumulated Cd and lowly accumulated zinc, selenium and mercury. The transport from the tobacco stem to the leaf plays a critical role in the accumulation of these elements. The ratios of Cd concentration in the leaves at lower, middle and upper positions were comparatively stable. The high Cd-extracting cultivars were "Hongda", "NC89" and "Zhongyan 100" when grown in normal soils, "CuiBi 1" and "Hongda" in moderately contaminated soils, and "YuYan 87", "LongJiang 851" and "K326" in severely contaminated soils. Tobacco leaves could accumulate about 80% of the total Cd extracted from the soil by the plant. Considering the Cd-extraction limitations exhibited by leading tobacco cultivars, screening of germplasm resources for high or low levels of Cd-accumulation is still an important target for the future. Antiepileptic drugs frequently cause cutaneous adverse reactions (cADRs). Numerous studies have reported associations between human leukocyte antigen (HLA) alleles and cADRs caused by single antiepileptic drug in Southern Han Chinese people. However, the relationship between the HLA allele and cADRs sequentially induced by two or more antiepileptic drugs (AEDs-induced cross-reactivity) is unclear. To explore the associations between HLA alleles and AEDs-induced cross-reactivity, we prospectively recruited patients with AEDs-induced cross-reactivity from 2009 to 2017 and performed high-resolution genotyping to detect the HLA-A, B, C, and DRB1 alleles in patients for comparison with normal controls. To verify the important genotype, we compared its presence in patients with cross-reactivity to enlarged normal controls, and its presence in patients with carbamazepine (CBZ)-induced maculopapular exanthema (MPE) to CBZ-tolerant controls. Further, the important allele was replicated by meta-analysis. Twenty-three patients with AED-induced cross-reactivity and 500 healthy individuals were enrolled from Southern China. All patients had a mild rash without mucosal or systemic involvement. The HLA-B*13:01 allele was present in 34.78% (8/23) of patients, 14.60% (73/500) of healthy individuals, and 14.5% (763/5,270) healthy individuals, revealing a significant association (8/23 vs. 73/500; P = 0.02; OR: 3.12; 95% CI: 1.28–7.62; 8/23 vs. 763/5,270; P = 0.014; OR: 3.15; 95% CI: 1.33–7.46). HLA-B*13:01 was presented numerically higher in CBZ-induced MPE than that in CBZ-tolerant individuals without statistical significance (33/145, 22.76%, vs. 28/179, 15.64%; P = 0.103). Meta-analysis revealed an association between HLA-B*13:01 and cADRs induced by single AEDs or/and non-AEDs in Chinese and Thai populations (P = 0.000). This study suggests that HLA-B*13:01 is potentially associated with AED-cADRs in general, possibly with stronger effect in cross-reactivity. Screening for HLA-B*13:01 prior to starting AEDs therapy may help to avoid cADRs. However, this association requires further analysis in a multi-center study with a larger sample size. This study simulated the moisture transport process of southern China annually first rainy season(SCAFRS)using a Lagrangian airflow trajectory model(Hybrid Single Particle Lagrangian Integrated Trajectory: HYSPLIT), to determine SCAFRS moisture transport characteristics and their relationship with South China Sea summer monsoon(SCSSM). It is found that the moisture transport paths and sources of SCAFRS are closely related to the onset of SCSSM. Divided by SCSSM onset dates, the moisture transport characteristics of SCAFRS are compared quantitatively.Before the onset of SCSSM, precipitation of SCAFRS mainly comes from western Pacific and eastern China. Their contributions are 24% and 25%, respectively. The amount of water vapor carried along the path coming from Bay of Bengal-South China Sea(BSC) is relatively high, but the contribution rate of this path to SCAFRS precipitation is relatively low. Mainly due to strong precipitation over Bay of Bengal before the onset of SCSSM, this region is a moisture sink, which makes most moisture deposit in this region and only a small portion of water vapor transported to southern China. After the onset of SCSSM, most water vapor is transported to southern China by the southwesterly paths. The Indian Ocean is the main moisture source, which contributes almost 25% to SCAFRS precipitation. The contributions of moisture originating from BSC and eastern China to southern China precipitation after the onset of SCSSM are 21% and 18%, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

To meet the construction requirements of future fusion reactors and other large-scale superconducting magnets, China is building an advanced superconducting conductor experimental device (Super-X) to evaluate the performance of future superconducting components. To ensure the reliability, stability of the Super-X devices and the flexibility, extensibility of the experimental tests, a specialized data acquisition and monitoring system has been designed and developed, which comprises three main components: data acquisition, transmission, and storage. For the data acquisition, a driver plug-in dynamic loading mechanism is employed to shield the diversification of data acquisition devices, thereby providing a unified data interface for upper-level operations. In terms of data transmission, the publish/subscribe (pub/sub) mode of ZeroMQ was utilized to meet the high-speed sampling demands (10 kHz sampling rate) of data transmission. In addition, a data distribution service improvement strategy that employs multiple workers is proposed to enhance subscriber reception capacity and reduce data transmission loss. As for data storage, a combination of short-term and long-term databases is used to improve the efficiency of data queries.
