The Longnan goat (LN) is a local breed discovered during the third census of China's livestock and poultry genetic resources. In order to thoroughly comprehend the population traits, this research examined a total of 70 animals from three different goat populations, namely the LN goat, Nanjiang Brown goat (NJ), and Boer goat (Boer). Specific‐Locus Amplified Fragment Sequencing was employed to analyze genetic diversity, population structure, and selective sweep patterns. Additionally, individual DNA fingerprints were generated to provide detailed genetic profiles for each subject. A total of 643,868 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were detected, with a majority located in intergenic and intronic regions. Genetic diversity analysis uncovered lower diversity within the LN population compared to the other two populations. The analysis of population structure unveiled significant genetic distance between LN and both NJ and Boer populations, with distinct clustering patterns observed. Moreover, genetic differentiation coefficients (FST) of 0.1019 and 0.0854 were determined between LN and Boer, as well as LN and NJ, respectively, indicating substantial genetic differentiation. Selective sweep analysis, combining FST and π ratio, identified several genes associated with growth and development, reproduction, hair color, and immunity that may serve as valuable candidates for marker‐assisted breeding. Furthermore, identification of 47,541 runs of homozygosity (ROHs) revealed non‐uniform distribution across chromosomes, with the highest frequency on chromosome 1 and the lowest on chromosome 27. Correlations between different inbreeding coefficients varied, with the highest observed between FHOM and FGRM, and the lowest between FROH >1.5Mb and FROH <500kb. A total of 46 candidate genes were annotated within high‐frequency ROH islands, primarily associated with biological processes such as reproduction, growth and development, and immunity. Finally, a DNA fingerprint, consisting of 371 highly polymorphic SNPs, was generated and presented in the form of a two‐dimensional code for convenient access. Based on the population structure analysis, LN goats have been found to have a distant genetic distance and a higher degree of differentiation from both the Boer and NJ populations. Evaluation of genetic diversity parameters and ROH analysis indicates that the LN population exhibits lower genetic diversity and shows signs of inbreeding. Dryland revegetation can mitigate land degradation, increase vegetation coverage and terrestrial C sinks, and substantially decrease soil water storage. However, variation in soil organic C (SOC) sequestration with precipitation under large-scale ecological restoration is unclear, and the trade-off between SOC sequestration and water consumption under different vegetation types remain controversial, particularly in deep soils. This study investigated SOC storage (SOCS) and soil water storage (SWS) in 0–1000 cm profiles under various vegetation types (woodland, shrubland, grassland, and farmland) along a precipitation gradient from 406 mm to 606 mm on China's Loess Plateau. The four vegetation types exhibited similar trends in the spatial distribution of SOCS and SWS, significantly increasing as mean annual precipitation (MAP) increased, except for SWS in shrubland. In contrast, deep SOC sequestration and water deficit effects varied with vegetation type and MAP. Specifically, ΔSOCS (SOCS difference between restored vegetation and farmland) of woodland significantly decreased with increasing MAP, whereas no significant relationship occurred for shrubland and grassland; significant positive and negative linear correlations occurred between ΔSWS (SWS difference between restored vegetation and farmland) and MAP for woodland and shrubland, respectively, with no apparent relationship for grassland. Moreover, the three restored vegetation had positive correlations between ΔSOCS and ΔSWS in deep soils. Woodland had the highest SOC sequestration efficiency (ΔSOCS/ΔSWS) but also caused the most severe soil water deficit, while grassland had the lowest C and water effect. Therefore, shrublands are better for revegetation in semiarid regions, with relatively lower soil water deficit than woodland and higher SOC sequestration effect than grassland; multispecies forest plantations dominated by R. pseudoacacia may be more suitable than single-species plantations in semihumid regions. The diagnosis and monitoring of aplastic anemia (AA) rely heavily on a complete blood count (CBC), and multiple-site bone marrow (BM) aspirations and biopsies. However, these approaches have certain limitations. We aimed to assess high-resolution magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as a complementary approach for evaluating BM hypoplasia and monitoring treatment response in adults with AA in the current era.Twelve newly diagnosed AA patients and 12 sex- and age-matched healthy controls were enrolled in this study from January 2017 to August 2018. A bilateral iliac 3.0T MRI was used to collect data for each subject, and the signal intensity on the T1-weighted images (T1WIs) were expressed as a contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR). The MRI, CBC, and BM biopsy data were analyzed and compared.A qualitative analysis identified a significant difference in MRI signal characteristics between the AA group and the healthy control group. The clinical classifications of very severe aplastic anemia (VSAA) and severe aplastic anemia (SAA) corresponded to pattern I and pattern II on the MR images, respectively. However, this imaging classification did not correlate with the biopsy-based BM cellularity measure. A quantitative analysis showed a significantly higher signal intensity in AA patients than in controls. A within-group comparison revealed that more severe types of AA, based on the clinical classification, corresponded to stronger signals. Notably, MRI could detect treatment response earlier than CBC, regardless of whether there were improvements in hematopoiesis.MRI can be used to predict the therapeutic effects in patients with AA and is an important complementary tool for evaluating and monitoring BM hypoplasia.

Objectives: To examine predictive power of psychache and life satisfaction on risks for suicidal ideation and suicide attempt among young people., Design: A cross-sectional study., Setting: Data were collected from an online survey in Wuhan, China., Participants: 5988 university students from six universities were selected by a stratified cluster sampling method., Primary and Secondary Outcome Measures: Suicidal ideation and suicide attempt at some point of the students' lifetime were the outcomes of interest., Results: Students with suicidal ideation or attempted suicide reported a lower level of life satisfaction and high degree of psychache than counterparts without suicidal ideation or attempt. Regression analyses indicated that life satisfaction and psychache were significantly associated with the risk of suicidal ideation and the risk of suicidal attempt. Though psychache showed a relatively stronger predictive power than life satisfaction, the effect of the two factors remained significant when they were individually adjusted for personal demographic characteristics. However, when the two factors were included in the model simultaneously to adjust for each other, psychache could fully explain the association between life satisfaction and suicidal attempt. Life satisfaction remained to contribute unique variance in the statistical prediction of suicidal ideation., Conclusions: Psychache and life satisfaction both have a significant predictive power on risk for suicidal behaviour, and life satisfaction could relieve the predictive power of psychache when suicidal behaviour is just starting. Shneidman's theory that psychache is the pre-eminent psychological cause of suicide is perhaps applicable only to a more serious form of suicidal behaviour.
