Background: Endobronchial ultrasonography-guided transbronchial needle aspiration biopsy (EBUS-TBNA) has been used for more than 10 years in China. Its clinical application and diagnostic value in different diseases with large sample was lack of report. Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed about the application and diagnostic value of EBUS-TBNA in different disease of patients in Respiratory Intervention Center of Guangzhou Institute of Respiratory Health from January 2012 to July 2020. Results: A total 5758 patients were included with 182 patients excluded for lack of information. Finally, data of 5576 patients (3798 males and 1778 females) were analyzed. For anesthetize, most patients were undergoing general anesthesia of intravenous with spontaneous breathing (69.4%), followed by general anesthesia of intravenous and inhalation with tracheal intubation and mechanical ventilation (17.9%) and conscious sedation and analgesia (12.8%). Lymph nodes were the main sites of biopsy obtained (76.4%). Tumors accounted for the highest proportion of disease (66.4%), followed by infection diseases (9.9%), sarcoidosis (3.9%), lymphoma (1.1%), and others (18.7%). The sensitivity of EBUS-TBNA for diagnosis of tumor was 89.7%, and 40.8% for infection diseases. There were significant differences in the puncture site and proportions of diseases between male and females (both p < 0.05). Higher diagnostic value was found in male patients (p < 0.05). Conclusion: EBUS-TBNA has good diagnostic value for different mediastinal and central pulmonary space-occupying lesions diseases, with highest sensitivity for tumors. With rapid developments in society and economy, the concentrations of heavy metals in surface water in South China have increased significantly, which poses a serious threat to the regional water security. In this study, the Fuhe River watershed in South China was selected as the study area to analyze physicochemical characteristics and heavy metal (Cu, Zn, Pb, Cd and Cr) concentrations in river water in the dry and rainy seasons, in 2019, with the purpose of exploring their spatial–temporal variations and main influences and assessing the potential health risks of heavy metals. The pH value of river water varied from 5.82 to 7.97, and it fluctuated less overall in the dry season, but it oscillated greatly in the rainy season and was lower, especially in the lower reach of the Fuhe River. The electrical conductivity (EC) value changed between 33 μS/cm and 128 μS/cm and increased and fluctuated along the river flow in the two periods. The concentrations of Cd, Cr, Cu, Pb, and Zn in river water showed obvious differences between the two periods. The concentrations of Cd and Cu were lower with the ranges from 0.001 μg/L to 0.67 μg/L and from 1 μg/L to 12 μg/L, respectively, in the dry season than in the rainy season, while there were inverse cases for other heavy metals. Along the river flow, the Cr concentration was stable, whereas other heavy metals showed increasing trends. It was noted that the concentrations of heavy metals in the Fuhe River were, on average, lower than the Chinese drinking standard values, with the concentration of Pb in the dry season significantly higher than the drinking standard value of the World Health Organization (WHO). Principal component analysis and correlation analysis showed that rock weathering and anthropogenic inputs were the main controlling factors of Cu and Zn in the Fuhe River, and human activities were mainly responsible for Pb, Cr, and Cd concentrations. The health risk assessment results showed that the non-carcinogenic risk (HQingestion) value of Pb was greater than 1 in most sampling points in the middle and lower reaches in the dry season, suggesting a significant non-carcinogenic risk for adults and children by direct ingestion. The minimum carcinogenic risk (CRingestion) value of Cr was more than 10−4 in the rainy and dry seasons, and the CRingestion value of Cd in some sampling points was more than 10−4 in the rainy season, indicating significant cancer risks to adults and children. For areas with significant pollution and health risks in the Fuhe River watershed, it is urgent to strengthen the controls of industrial, agricultural, and urban wastewater discharge. The formation and dynamic process analysis of the rockslide avalanche in mountainous areas are one of the consequences of the catastrophic accident. Such loose accumulation in upslope may saturate partially or completely when the stability of their accumulation dam is distributed or affected by rainfall. We present a case study with respect to the southern Wuyi Mountain located in eastern China, where the wet and rainy climate has led to dozens of similar rockslide hazards. The purpose of this paper was to analyse the mechanism and dynamic characteristics of the rockslide influenced by the same geological conditions and to predict the outburst susceptibility of similar landslides in the future. Detail field surveys, 3D laser scanning, and high-density electrical methods were used to collect the geotechnical information of the complex landslide, to identify the discontinuity between the landslide material and the bedrock, and to investigate the deformation characterization and dynamic process of the rockslide. Based on remote sensing interpretation and field investigation of the deformation process of a landslide in different times and different parts, the background, mechanism, and cause of the landslide were demonstrated. The landslide is controlled by the characteristics of the geological structure, including collapse, circular sliding, plane sliding, and debris flow. In addition, there are rock avalanches on the rear edge of the slope subjected to the combined action of rainfall and gravity. Moreover, there are some resistance anomaly areas of the aquifer and soil between 2 and 50 m where the resistivity is less than 120 ohm-m, and they were deduced to be full of water, confirming a "bathtub" type structure. The mechanism of the catastrophic landslide was a combination of the upper pushing deformation induced by rainfall line uplift and rotational; due to the ancient landslide reactivation in the transposition area, the velocity of the rockslide reached 40.11 m/s. Objective: To investigate the effect of image quality of coronary CT angiography (CCTA) on the diagnostic performance of a machine learning-based CT-derived fractional flow reserve (FFRCT).Methods: This nationwide retrospective study enrolled participants from 10 individual centers across China. FFRCT analysis was performed in 570 vessels in 437 patients. Invasive FFR and FFRCT values ≤ 0.80 were considered ischemia-specific. Four-score subjective assessment based on image quality and objective measurement of vessel enhancement was performed on a per-vessel basis. The effects of body mass index (BMI), sex, heart rate, and coronary calcium score on the diagnostic performance of FFRCT were studied.Results: Among 570 vessels, 216 were considered ischemia-specific by invasive FFR and 198 by FFRCT. Sensitivity and specificity of FFRCT for detecting lesion-specific ischemia were 0.82 and 0.93, respectively. Area under the curve (AUC) of high-quality images (0.93, n = 159) was found to be superior to low-quality images (0.80, n = 92, p = 0.02). Objective image quality and heart rate were also associated with diagnostic performance of FFRCT, whereas there was no statistical difference in diagnostic performance among different BMI, sex, and calcium score groups (all p > 0.05, Bonferroni correction).Conclusions: This retrospective multicenter study supported the FFRCT as a noninvasive test in evaluating lesion-specific ischemia. Green power trading is an institutional innovation proposed by China to promote green and sustainable development. This policy aims to relieve the serious debt pressure of renewable energy generation enterprises, thus laying the foundation for achieving carbon reduction targets. This paper empirically examines the role of green power trading by constructing the difference-in-differences (DID) model. Our findings indicate that green power trading significantly reduces the debt levels of policy-covered generation enterprises. This effect is more pronounced for state-owned enterprises, companies with better ESG performance, companies in regions with higher degree of marketization and companies specializing in renewable energy power generation. Further research discusses the impact mechanism of green power trading in terms of external and internal environmental channels. We find that a strong green development atmosphere, especially the external atmosphere, will significantly reinforce the weakening effect of green power trading on corporate debt. This paper integrates China's energy market, carbon emission trading market, and stock market of energy-intensive sectors into one framework based on a system perspective. We quantify the return and volatility spillover effects respectively, and deeply examine the structures and driving factors of these two spillovers. Our findings demonstrate that (i) the spillover linkage in the "Energy – Carbon – Stock" system is considerable, particularly the return spillover connectedness; (ii) the stock market occupies a dominant position in the system and primarily serves as a net transmitter in the spillover structure; (iii) policy adjustment and energy market turbulence are the main driving events for the sharp rise of the overall spillover; (iv) there exists an obvious cluster effect in the spillover network structure, and the occurrence of major events will make the most affected assets move to the network center and become the main spillover sources; (v) the state of the energy market, the stock market stability and the monetary policy orientation all have a strong explanatory power for the overall spillover. Coke-oven workers are exposed to many kinds of pollutants that can cause health damage even lead to carcinogenesis. Therefore, it is critical to identify biomarkers that predict early health damage in these exposed individuals in molecular epidemiological studies. We applied an artificial neural network (ANN) model to the identification of such predictors in a study of coke-oven workers. The study included 330 steel-factory workers who were exposed to different levels of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in the workplace and their levels of early health damage were determined by cytokinesis-block micronuclei (CMN), heat shock protein 70 (Hsp70) expression, benzo(a)pyrene diolepoxide-albumin adduct (BPDE-AA), and olive tail moment (OTM). The ANN model was built to predict the early health damage index, and the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was used to illustrate the judged criteria and the ANN model. Trend Chi-square modeling was also performed. We found that there were 55 subjects with early health damage among 330 workers based on the multibiomarker criteria using the 95 percentile of the control group as the cut-off value, while there were 22-35 positive subjects if screening by any single biomarker. The Cochran-Armitage trend test for these findings were statistically significant ( Z = 3.21, P = 0.0013). Six variables were selected to simulate the ANN model. The area under ROC (AUROC) was 0.726 ± 0.037 ( P < 0.001), and the predictors included workplace, cholesterol, waistline, and others. Therefore, collective using CMN frequency, Hsp70 level, BPDE-AA level, and OTM with equal weights to make an initial screening test for early health damage in coke-oven workers is feasible and superior to any single biomarker. The Agouti gene plays an important role in pigment synthesis in domestic animals. A transversion of 423G>T recognized by BanII was found after a fragment (178 bp) of the goat Agouti gene exon 4 was amplified and sequenced. To investigate its genetic effect and diversity, 677 individuals from 12 indigenous Chinese goat breeds and one imported goat breed from South Africa (Boer goat) were analyzed by PCR-RFLP. Two alleles, T and G, and three genotypes, TT, TG, and GG, were detected. Allele T had a higher frequency in most goat breeds and, combined with the coat color phenotype, is believed to be responsible for the black phenotype or to be linked with the causative site in the goat. The results also indicate that the 423G>T transversion showed lower genetic diversity in goat breeds with black coat color in China. Genetic differentiation among the 13 goat populations was 0.2023. To investigate associations among occupational exposure to coke oven emissions (COEs), oxidative stress, cytogenotoxic effects, change in the metabolizing enzyme glutathione S-transferase (GST), and internal levels of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in coke oven workers, we recruited 47 male coke oven workers and 31 male control subjects from a coke oven plant in northern China. We measured the levels of 1-hydroxypyrene (1-OHP) and 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) in urine, micronucleated binucleated cells (BNMNs) in peripheral blood lymphocyte, and GST in serum. Our results showed that the group exposed to COEs had significantly increased levels of 1-OHP [median 5.7; interquartile range (IQR), 1.4-12.0 µmol/mol creatinine] compared with the control group (3; 0.5-6.4 µmol/mol creatinine). In addition, the median levels (IQR) of 8-OHdG, BNMNs, and GST were markedly increased in the exposed [1.9 (1.4-15.4) µmol/mol creatinine; 6 (2-8) per thousand; 22.1 (14.9-31.2) U/L, respectively] compared with controls [1.3 (1.0-4.0) µmol/mol creatinine, 2 (0-4) per thousand; and 13.1 (9.5-16.7) U/L, respectively]. These results appeared to be modified by smoking. However, multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that exposure to COEs had the highest odds ratio among variables analyzed and that smoking was not a significant confounder of the levels of studied biomarkers. Overall, the present findings suggest that COE exposure led to increased internal PAH burden, genetic damage, oxidative stress, and GST activity. Venous thrombosis is a major medical disorder caused by both genetic and environmental factors. Little is known about the genetic background of venous thrombosis in the Chinese population. A total of 1,304 individuals diagnosed with a first venous thrombosis and 1,334 age- and sex-matched healthy participants were enrolled in this study. Resequencing of THBD (encoding thrombomodulin) in 60 individuals with venous thrombosis and 60 controls and a functional assay showed that a common variant, c.−151G>T (rs16984852), in the 5′ UTR significantly reduced the gene expression and could cause a predisposition to venous thrombosis. Therefore, this variant was genotyped in a case-control study, and results indicated that heterozygotes had a 2.80-fold (95% confidence interval = 1.88–4.29) increased risk of venous thrombosis. The THBD c.−151G>T variant was further investigated in a family analysis involving 176 first-degree relatives from 38 index families. First-degree relatives with this variant had a 3.42-fold increased risk of venous thrombosis, and their probability of remaining thrombosis-free was significantly lower than that of relatives without the variant. In addition, five rare mutations that might be deleterious were also identified in thrombophilic individuals by sequencing. This study is the largest genetic investigation of venous thrombosis in the Chinese population. Abstract: Three new croomine-type Stemona alkaloids, tuberocrooline (1), 10-hydroxycroomine (2), and dehydrocroomine (3), and four new tuberostemonine-type alkaloids, tuberostemoline (4), tridehydrotuberostemonine (5), 9α-bisdehydrotuberostemonine (6), and 9α-bisdehydrotuberostemonine A (7), along with ten known constituents, were isolated from the roots of Stemona tuberosa collected from Yunnan province. The structures of the new compounds were established on the basis of one- and two-dimensional NMR spectra and other spectroscopic studies. The antitussive activity of the major alkaloids was tested using the citric acid-induced guinea pig cough model. Croomine (8) exhibited a dose-dependent inhibition of coughing with an ID50 value of 0.18mmol/kg. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

The high prevalence and mortality of cardiovascular diseases in China's large population has increased the use of cardiovascular imaging for the assessment of conditions in recent years. Objective: To review and analyze the trend of researches on prostatitis in China in the past two decades., Methods: We searched the core collection of China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) for studies on prostatitis, and analyzed the data obtained using Excel, Citespace and VOSviewer., Results: Totally, 1 216 original articles were identified, with 3 271 keywords, ≥3-time high-frequency keywords accounting for 12.9%, with "", "", "chronic prostatitis", "prostatitis", and "" as the top 5 ones, each with a centrality higher than 300. Major prostatitis-related studies focused on the 8 keywords, namely, prostatitis, prostatic fluid, rats, prostate, syndromes, efficacy observation, compound (in traditional Chinese medicine, TCM), and therapeutic application. The included literature involved 2 808 authors, with 402 involved more than twice and most of them in a scattered manner. The major topics of prostatitis studies varied in the past two decades, focusing on TCM therapies, promotion of blood circulation and stasis and comprehensive nursing in 2000－2001, on animal models, CD4+ lymphocytes and other experimental molecules in 2007－2010, on urodynamics, risk factors and specific antigens in 2013－2016, and on literature information resources in 2016., Conclusions: The immune mechanism remains a hot topic in the future researches on prostatitis. In terms of treatment of the disease, TCM has a potential value, and more practice and studies are required for an optimal combination of TCM and Western medicine. Strengthened collaborative efforts are needed to establish an authoritative source channel for the keywords, and incorporate it into the national standard system, and above all, to integrate the prostatitis study into multi-disciplinary researches, eliminate academic barriers, encourage collaborative innovation with multiple parties, and promote the exchanges and development in this field.

Objective: To investigate the effect of coronary calcification morphology and severity on the diagnostic performance of machine learning (ML)-based coronary CT angiography (CCTA)-derived fractional flow reserve (CT-FFR) with FFR as a reference standard., Methods: A total of 442 patients (61.2 ± 9.1 years, 70% men) with 544 vessels who underwent CCTA, ML-based CT-FFR, and invasive FFR from China multicenter CT-FFR study were enrolled. The effect of calcification arc, calcification remodeling index (CRI), and Agatston score (AS) on the diagnostic performance of CT-FFR was investigated. CT-FFR ≤ 0.80 and lumen reduction ≥ 50% determined by CCTA were identified as vessel-specific ischemia with invasive FFR as a reference standard., Results: Compared with invasive FFR, ML-based CT-FFR yielded an overall sensitivity of 0.84, specificity of 0.94, and accuracy of 0.90 in a total of 344 calcification lesions. There was no statistical difference in diagnostic accuracy, sensitivity, or specificity of CT-FFR across different calcification arc, CRI, or AS levels. CT-FFR exhibited improved discrimination of ischemia compared with CCTA alone in lesions with mild-to-moderate calcification (AUC, 0.89 vs. 0.69, p < 0.001) and lesions with CRI ≥ 1 (AUC, 0.89 vs. 0.71, p < 0.001). The diagnostic accuracy and specificity of CT-FFR were higher than CCTA alone in patients and vessels with mid (100 to 299) or high (≥ 300) AS., Conclusion: Coronary calcification morphology and severity did not influence diagnostic performance of CT-FFR in ischemia detection, and CT-FFR showed marked improved discrimination of ischemia compared with CCTA alone in the setting of calcification., Key Points: • CT-FFR provides superior diagnostic performance than CCTA alone regardless of coronary calcification. • No significant differences in the diagnostic performance of CT-FFR were observed in coronary arteries with different coronary calcification arcs and calcified remodeling indexes. • No significant differences in the diagnostic accuracy of CT-FFR were observed in coronary arteries with different coronary calcification score levels.

Background: During the outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), consistent and considerable differences in disease severity and mortality rate of patients treated in Hubei province compared to those in other parts of China have been observed. We sought to compare the clinical characteristics and outcomes of patients being treated inside and outside Hubei province, and explore the factors underlying these differences., Methods: Collaborating with the National Health Commission, we established a retrospective cohort to study hospitalised COVID-19 cases in China. Clinical characteristics, the rate of severe events and deaths, and the time to critical illness (invasive ventilation or intensive care unit admission or death) were compared between patients within and outside Hubei. The impact of Wuhan-related exposure (a presumed key factor that drove the severe situation in Hubei, as Wuhan is the epicentre as well the administrative centre of Hubei province) and the duration between symptom onset and admission on prognosis were also determined., Results: At the data cut-off (31 January 2020), 1590 cases from 575 hospitals in 31 provincial administrative regions were collected (core cohort). The overall rate of severe cases and mortality was 16.0% and 3.2%, respectively. Patients in Hubei (predominantly with Wuhan-related exposure, 597 (92.3%) out of 647) were older (mean age 49.7 versus 44.9 years), had more cases with comorbidity (32.9% versus 19.7%), higher symptomatic burden, abnormal radiologic manifestations and, especially, a longer waiting time between symptom onset and admission (5.7 versus 4.5 days) compared with patients outside Hubei. Patients in Hubei (severe event rate 23.0% versus 11.1%, death rate 7.3% versus 0.3%, HR (95% CI) for critical illness 1.59 (1.05-2.41)) have a poorer prognosis compared with patients outside Hubei after adjusting for age and comorbidity. However, among patients outside Hubei, the duration from symptom onset to hospitalisation (mean 4.4 versus 4.7 days) and prognosis (HR (95%) 0.84 (0.40-1.80)) were similar between patients with or without Wuhan-related exposure. In the overall population, the waiting time, but neither treated in Hubei nor Wuhan-related exposure, remained an independent prognostic factor (HR (95%) 1.05 (1.01-1.08))., Conclusion: There were more severe cases and poorer outcomes for COVID-19 patients treated in Hubei, which might be attributed to the prolonged duration of symptom onset to hospitalisation in the epicentre. Background: Sepsis-induced myopathy (SIM) is a disease that causes motor dysfunction in patients with sepsis. There is currently no targeted treatment for this disease. Acupuncture has shown considerable efficacy in the treatment of sepsis and muscle weakness. Therefore, our research aims to explore the effects of acupuncture on the improvement of muscle structure and function in SIM patients and on activities of daily living., Methods: The ACU-SIM pilot study is a single-center, propensity-score stratified, assessor-blinded, prospective pragmatic controlled trial (pCT) with a 1-year follow-up period. This study will be deployed in a multi-professional critical care department at a tertiary teaching hospital in Guangzhou, China. Ninety-eight intensive care unit subjects will be recruited and assigned to either the control group or the acupuncture group. Both groups will receive basic treatment for sepsis, and the acupuncture group will additionally receive acupuncture treatment. The primary outcomes will be the rectus femoris cross-sectional area, the Medical Research Council sum-score and time-to-event (defined as all-cause mortality or unplanned readmission to the intensive care unit due to invasive ventilation). The activities of daily living will be accessed by the motor item of the Functional Independence Measure. Recruitment will last for 2 years, and each patient will have a 1-year follow-up after the intervention., Discussion: There is currently no research on the therapeutic effects of acupuncture on SIM. The results of this study may contribute to new knowledge regarding early muscle atrophy and the treatment effect of acupuncture in SIM patients, and the results may also direct new approaches and interventions in these patients. Background: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak is evolving rapidly worldwide., Objective: To evaluate the risk of serious adverse outcomes in patients with COVID-19 by stratifying the comorbidity status., Methods: We analysed data from 1590 laboratory confirmed hospitalised patients from 575 hospitals in 31 provinces/autonomous regions/provincial municipalities across mainland China between 11 December 2019 and 31 January 2020. We analysed the composite end-points, which consisted of admission to an intensive care unit, invasive ventilation or death. The risk of reaching the composite end-points was compared according to the presence and number of comorbidities., Results: The mean age was 48.9 years and 686 (42.7%) patients were female. Severe cases accounted for 16.0% of the study population. 131 (8.2%) patients reached the composite end-points. 399 (25.1%) reported having at least one comorbidity. The most prevalent comorbidity was hypertension (16.9%), followed by diabetes (8.2%). 130 (8.2%) patients reported having two or more comorbidities. After adjusting for age and smoking status, COPD (HR (95% CI) 2.681 (1.424-5.048)), diabetes (1.59 (1.03-2.45)), hypertension (1.58 (1.07-2.32)) and malignancy (3.50 (1.60-7.64)) were risk factors of reaching the composite end-points. The hazard ratio (95% CI) was 1.79 (1.16-2.77) among patients with at least one comorbidity and 2.59 (1.61-4.17) among patients with two or more comorbidities., Conclusion: Among laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19, patients with any comorbidity yielded poorer clinical outcomes than those without. Background: Since December 2019, when coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) emerged in Wuhan city and rapidly spread throughout China, data have been needed on the clinical characteristics of the affected patients., Methods: We extracted data regarding 1099 patients with laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 from 552 hospitals in 30 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities in mainland China through January 29, 2020. The primary composite end point was admission to an intensive care unit (ICU), the use of mechanical ventilation, or death., Results: The median age of the patients was 47 years; 41.9% of the patients were female. The primary composite end point occurred in 67 patients (6.1%), including 5.0% who were admitted to the ICU, 2.3% who underwent invasive mechanical ventilation, and 1.4% who died. Only 1.9% of the patients had a history of direct contact with wildlife. Among nonresidents of Wuhan, 72.3% had contact with residents of Wuhan, including 31.3% who had visited the city. The most common symptoms were fever (43.8% on admission and 88.7% during hospitalization) and cough (67.8%). Diarrhea was uncommon (3.8%). The median incubation period was 4 days (interquartile range, 2 to 7). On admission, ground-glass opacity was the most common radiologic finding on chest computed tomography (CT) (56.4%). No radiographic or CT abnormality was found in 157 of 877 patients (17.9%) with nonsevere disease and in 5 of 173 patients (2.9%) with severe disease. Lymphocytopenia was present in 83.2% of the patients on admission., Conclusions: During the first 2 months of the current outbreak, Covid-19 spread rapidly throughout China and caused varying degrees of illness. Objectives: The aim of this study was to validate the feasibility of a novel structural and computational fluid dynamics-based fractional flow reserve (FFR) algorithm for coronary computed tomography angiography (CTA), using alternative boundary conditions to detect lesion-specific ischemia., Background: A new model of computed tomographic (CT) FFR relying on boundary conditions derived from structural deformation of the coronary lumen and aorta with transluminal attenuation gradient and assumptions regarding microvascular resistance has been developed, but its accuracy has not yet been validated., Methods: A total of 338 consecutive patients with 422 vessels from 9 Chinese medical centers undergoing CTA and invasive FFR were retrospectively analyzed. CT FFR values were obtained on a novel on-site computational fluid dynamics-based CT FFR (uCT-FFR [version 1.5, United-Imaging Healthcare, Shanghai, China]). Performance characteristics of uCT-FFR and CTA in detecting lesion-specific ischemia in all lesions, intermediate lesions (luminal stenosis 30% to 70%), and "gray zone" lesions (FFR 0.75 to 0.80) were calculated with invasive FFR as the reference standard. The effect of coronary calcification on uCT-FFR measurements was also assessed., Results: Per vessel sensitivities, specificities, and accuracies of 0.89, 0.91, and 0.91 with uCT-FFR, 0.92, 0.34, and 0.55 with CTA, and 0.94, 0.37, and 0.58 with invasive coronary angiography, respectively, were found. There was higher specificity, accuracy, and AUC for uCT-FFR compared with CTA and qualitative invasive coronary angiography in all lesions, including intermediate lesions (p < 0.001 for all). No significant difference in diagnostic accuracy was observed in the "gray zone" range versus the other 2 lesion groups (FFR ≤0.75 and >0.80; p = 0.397) and in patients with "gray zone" versus FFR ≤0.75 (p = 0.633) and versus FFR >0.80 (p = 0.364), respectively. No significant difference in the diagnostic performance of uCT-FFR was found between patients with calcium scores ≥400 and <400 (p = 0.393)., Conclusions: This novel computational fluid dynamics-based CT FFR approach demonstrates good performance in detecting lesion-specific ischemia. The effect of blood pump flow rate on the cardiac functions of hemodialysis patients with arteriovenous fistula (AVF) is largely unknown. This study aimed to investigate if blood pump flow rate (Qb) and AVF access flow rate (Qa) can affect the cardiac function of Chinese hemodialysis patients. A total of 72 patients undergoing AVF hemodialysis were included from March 2010 to June 2014 and dichotomized into the high- and low-flow groups using the medians of Qb (220 mL/min) and Qa (1000 mL/min) as the cutoffs. The cardiac function parameters were measured by ultrasound dilution technique within the first (t + 30) and the last (t - 30) 30 min of dialysis. At t + 30, Qb-high group had significantly higher systolic blood pressure (SBP) and mean arterial pressure (MAP) than Qb-low group. At t - 30, Qb-high group had higher SBP, diastolic blood pressure (DBP), and MAP than Qb-low group. Qa-high group had higher SBP, MAP, cardiac output (CO), cardiac index (CI), central blood volume (CBV), and lower peripheral resistance than Qa-low group. Multiple linear regression showed that at t - 30, Qb was positively correlated with SBP and MAP. Qa was positively correlated with CO, CI, CBV, and PR but negatively correlated with heart rate. Although Qb > 220 mL/min and Qa >1000 mL/min would elevate some parameters, the means of SBP, DBP, MAP remain within the normal range, indicating that appropriate increase in blood pump flow rate has little effect on the cardiac function of hemodialysis patients., (© 2019 International Society for Apheresis, Japanese Society for Apheresis, and Japanese Society for Dialysis Therapy.)

Aerator is an indispensable tool in aquaculture, and China is one of the largest aquaculture countries in the world. So, the intelligent control of the aerator is of great significance to energy conservation and environmental protection and the prevention of the deterioration of dissolved oxygen. There is no intelligent aerator related work in practice and research. In this paper, we mainly study the intelligent aerator control based on deep learning, and propose a dissolved oxygen prediction algorithm with long and short term memory network, referred as DopLSTM. The prediction results are used to the intelligent control design of the aerator. As a result, it is proved that the intelligent control of the aerator can effectively reduce the power consumption and prevent the deterioration of dissolved oxygen.

Backgrounds: Bone morphogenetic protein receptor type 2 (BMPR2) signaling is anti-inflammatory. Decreased BMPR2 expression was seen in lung tissue from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients., Methods: The selected single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in BMPR2 were genotyped with polymerase chain reaction (PCR) ligase detection reaction. The effects of SNPs on gene expression were analyzed with luciferase assays. The mRNA and protein expression levels of BMPR2 in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from COPD patients were determined by quantitative PCR and western blotting, respectively., Findings: Two SNPs, rs6435156C > T and rs1048829G > T in the 3'-untranslated region (3'UTR) of BMPR2 were selected and genotyped in COPD case and healthy control subjects from southern Chinese population. Both of them were found associated with significantly increased COPD risk (adjusted odds ratio [OR] = 1.58 with 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.14-2.15, P = 0.0056 for rs6435156C > T; adjusted OR = 1.47 and 95% CI = 1.10-1.97, P = 0.0092 for rs1048829G > T). Older age, cigarette smoking, family history of cancer and COPD were all factors that interacted with rs6435156C > T and rs1048829G > T causing increased COPD risk. Cigarette smokers with rs6435156 (CT + TT) or rs1048829 (GT + TT) were more susceptible to COPD than that with the rs6435156CC or rs1048829GG genotypes. In A549 human alveolar epithelial cells, luciferase reporter assays revealed that introduction of 3'UTR of BMPR2 plasmids carrying rs6435156T allele but not rs1048829T led to lower luciferase activity than the wild-type C or G alleles. Comparing to rs6435156CC, treatment with hsa-miR-20a mimics deceased whereas hsa-miR-20a inhibitor restored the luciferase reporter activity in cells transfected with constructs carrying rs6435156TT. BMPR2 mRNA and protein expressions were significantly lower in PBMCs from COPD smokers than that in non-smokers. COPD patients carrying rs6435156T allele had less BMPR2 expression in PBMCs., Interpretation: This study demonstrated that both rs6435156C > T and rs1048829G > T variants in BMPR2 contributed to increased susceptibility to COPD. The T variants of rs6435156 increased COPD risk likely by binding with hsa-miR-20a, thus leading to downregulated BMPR2 expression in lung epithelial and immune cells.

This study is aimed to investigate the pattern of CEBPA mutations and its clinical significance in Chinese non-M3 acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients. The entire coding region of CEBPA gene was amplified by PCR and then sequenced in samples from 233 non-M3 AML patients. Fifty mutations were identified in 37 (15.8%) patients with eleven (4.7%) double mutated CEBPA (dmCEBPA) and twenty-six (11.1%) single mutated CEBPA (smCEBPA). dmCEBPA was exclusively observed in M1 and M2 subtypes of FAB classification (P = 0.008), whereas smCEBPA occurred in almost all subtypes (P = 0.401). Patients with dmCEBPA had significantly younger age and higher WBC counts than those with wtCEBPA (P = 0.016 and 0.043, respectively). Both dmCEBPA and smCEBPA were mainly present in cytogenetically normal patients. Patients with dmCEBPA achieved higher rate of complete (CR) than wtCEBPA patients (88% vs. 51%, P = 0.037), whereas smCEBPA and wtCEBPA groups are similar (47% vs. 51%, P = 0.810). Patients with dmCEBPA had a superior overall survival (OS) compared with patients with wtCEBPA (P = 0.033), whereas patients with smCEBPA had a similar OS as patients with wtCEBPA (P = 0.976). dmCEBPA but not smCEBPA was also associated with favorable outcome in patients with wild-type NPM1 and FLT3-ITD (NPM1(wt)FLT3-ITD(wt) ). Our data confirm that dmCEBPA but not smCEBPA is prognostically favorable in NPM1(wt)FLT3-ITD(wt) AML, and suggest that the entity AML with mutated CEBPA should be definitely designated as AML with dmCEBPA in WHO classification and smCEBPA should be excluded from the favorable risk of molecular abnormalities.

The human X-ray repair cross-complementing group 1 gene (XRCC1) is an important candidate gene for affecting pancreatic cancer (PC) risk. The objective of this study was to detect whether the c.1471G > A and c.1686C > G polymorphisms of XRCC1 gene influence PC risk. The association of XRCC1 genetic variants with PC risk was analyzed in 328 PC patients and 350 controls by the polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism and created restriction site-polymerase chain reaction method. Our data suggested that the genotypes and alleles from these two genetic variants were statistically associated with PC risk. For c.1471G > A, the AA genotype was associated with the decreased risk of developing PC compared to GG wild genotype (odds ratio (OR) = 0.43, 95% confidence intervals (CI) 0.26-0.70, chi-squared (χ(2)) = 11.91, P = 0.001). For c.1686C > G, the risk of PC was significantly lower for GG genotype in comparing to CC wild genotype (OR = 0.48, 95% CI 0.29-0.81, χ(2) = 7.98, P = 0.005). The A allele of c.1471G > A and G allele of c.1686C > G genetic variants could contribute to decrease the risk of PC (for c.1471G > A: A vs G, OR = 0.65, 95% CI 0.52-0.82, χ(2) = 13.71, P < 0.001, for c.1686C > G: G vs C, OR = 0.70, 95% CI 0.55-0.88, χ(2) = 9.42, P = 0.002). Our findings indicate that the c.1471G > A and c.1686C > G polymorphisms of XRCC1 gene are associated with PC risk in Chinese population.

Objective: To investigate the influence of the polluted SY River on children's growth and sex hormones, and provide scientific data for assessment of the polluted status of the SY River., Methods: The study areas were selected randomly from the SY River Basin. Lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), arsenic (As), phthalates (DEP, DBP, DMP, DEHP), and bisphenol A (BPA) were measured both in the river water and in the drinking water. School children were selected by cluster sampling (n=154). Physical development indexes (height, weight, bust-circumference, and skinfold thickness) and sex hormones [testosterone (T) and estradiol (E2)] were measured for all the children., Results: The contents of Pb and Hg exceeded Class V standards of surface water quality in each section of the river and other indicators exceeded Class III. Compared to the control area, the concentrations of Pb, Hg, As, BPA, DEP, and DBP in the drinking water were significantly higher than in the polluted area (P<0.05). Children from the control area had significantly lower E2 and T than children from the polluted area (P<0.05). Among anthropometric results, only skinfold thickness had statistically significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05), while the other indexes showed no significant differences between the two groups (P>0.05)., Conclusion: The drinking water has been polluted by the SY River and affected serum sex hormone levels of children living in the polluted area., (Copyright © 2012 The Editorial Board of Biomedical and Environmental Sciences. Objective: To investigate the relevance between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in CHRNA3-CHRNB4-CHRNA5 gene cluster and DNA damage levels in the coke oven workers., Methods: A total of 309 male subjects from a steel plant in Northern China were divided into high exposure group (154 workers) and low exposure group (155 workers) according to the concentrations of plasma benzoapyrene-r-7, t-8, t-9, c-10-tetrahydrotetrol-albumin (BPDE-Alb) adducts. DNA damage levels of peripheral blood lymphocytes were examined by comet assay. Allelic discrimination of SNPs in CHRNA3-CHRNB4-CHRNA5 gene cluster were detected using Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry., Results: The Olive tail moment (OTM) (1.23 ± 1.05) of peripheral blood lymphocytes in the high exposure group was significantly higher than that (0.80 ± 1.07) in the low exposure group (P < 0.01). In the high exposure group, OTM (1.64 ± 0.17) of subjects with rs667282CC genotype was significantly higher than those (0.95 ± 0.13 or 1.09 ± 0.11) of subjects with rs667282CT genotype or rs667282TT + CT genotype (P < 0.01); OTM (1.60 ± 0.17) of subjects with GG genotype at rs12910984 site was significantly higher than those (0.92 ± 0.13 or 1.07 ± 0.10) of subjects with AG genotype or AG + AA genotype (P < 0.01); OTM (1.35 ± 0.17 or 1.64 ± 0.17) of the TA/TA or CG/CG diplotype carriers was significantly higher than that (0.89 ± 0.13) of TA/CG diplotype carriers (P < 0.05). However, the relevance between genotypes of these SNPs and the DNA damage levels was not found in the low exposure group., Conclusion: The rs667282CC genotype and rs12910984GG genotype on CHRNA3-CHRNB4-CHRNA5 gene cluster are associated with increased DNA damage levels in the high PAHs exposure group.

Coke-oven workers are exposed to many kinds of pollutants that can cause health damage even lead to carcinogenesis. Therefore, it is critical to identify biomarkers that predict early health damage in these exposed individuals in molecular epidemiological studies. We applied an artificial neural network (ANN) model to the identification of such predictors in a study of coke-oven workers. The study included 330 steel-factory workers who were exposed to different levels of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in the workplace and their levels of early health damage were determined by cytokinesis-block micronuclei (CMN), heat shock protein 70 (Hsp70) expression, benzo(a)pyrene diolepoxide-albumin adduct (BPDE-AA), and olive tail moment (OTM). The ANN model was built to predict the early health damage index, and the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was used to illustrate the judged criteria and the ANN model. Trend Chi-square modeling was also performed. We found that there were 55 subjects with early health damage among 330 workers based on the multibiomarker criteria using the 95 percentile of the control group as the cut-off value, while there were 22-35 positive subjects if screening by any single biomarker. The Cochran-Armitage trend test for these findings were statistically significant (Z = 3.21, P = 0.0013). Six variables were selected to simulate the ANN model. The area under ROC (AUROC) was 0.726 ± 0.037 (P < 0.001), and the predictors included workplace, cholesterol, waistline, and others. Therefore, collective using CMN frequency, Hsp70 level, BPDE-AA level, and OTM with equal weights to make an initial screening test for early health damage in coke-oven workers is feasible and superior to any single biomarker. Objective: To identify the single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the regulatory and coding regions of heat shock protein 60 gene and search for its genetic makers in Chinese Han people., Methods: The 5' flank region, parts of the exons and introns of hsp60 gene were resequenced to identify the SNPs in Chinese Han people, and then the sequenced results to the Japanese, European and African's data in National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) and HapMap databases were compared., Results: One novel SNP was identified in exon 2 resulting in synonymous variant and the G allele frequency was 0.025. There were 11 reported SNPs in the sequenced region. The minor allele frequencies of rs1116734, rs3749095, rs1050347, rs8539 were 0.51, 0.30, 0.29, 0.49. The heterozygosity of the other 7 SNPs was 0. The distributions of rs1116734, rs1050347, rs8539, rs3749095 in Chinese Han people were similar to the Japanese's. The hsp60 rs3749095 which was not found in Japanese people was a high-frequency SNP in Chinese Han people; the distribution of rs8539 in Chinese Han people was quite different from European and African's (P < 0.01)., Conclusion: The SNPs of hsp60 in Chinese Han people are different from the other peoples. The SNPs of hsp60 gene rs1116734, rs3749095, rs1050347, rs8539 are very common in Chinese Han people and might be used for candidate genetic markers of hsp60 gene.

The aim of the study was to assess the prevalence of human papillomavirus (HPV) in the esophagus in the coastal region of Eastern Guangdong, Southern China, an area with a high incidence of esophageal carcinoma. Fresh surgical resection esophageal specimens were obtained from 176 esophageal carcinoma patients admitted to the Tumor Hospital of Shantou University Medical College. The samples were subjected to polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to detect HPV infection using consensus and type-specific primers for HPV type 6, 11, 16, and 18. The incidence rate was 65.5%, 69.1%, and 60% in tissues of cancerous, paracancerous and normal mucosa, respectively. Further analysis of the distribution of HPV types in the three sections of tissues showed that the high-risk HPV types 16 and 18 were found mainly in the cancer cells (43.2%), whereas the low-risk HPV types 6 and 11 were seen mainly in the normal mucosa (52.3%). The total infection rate of the high-risk HPV types 16 and HPV 18 was the highest in cancerous tissues (54.5%), followed by paracancerous tissues (19.5%), and the lowest in normal mucosa (11.7%). There was high incidence of HPV infection in the esophageal epithelium in Eastern Guangdong, Southern China, where esophageal carcinoma is prevalent. HPV was seen in the normal, paracancerous and cancerous tissues, with the high-risk HPV type 16 and 18 more common in cancerous tissues.
