• Ages of Cu-Mo polymetallic deposits and the granodiorites (porphyries) in the Chizhou region are simultaneous; • The granodiorite (porphyry) are a high-K calc-alkaline I-type granodiorite; • The granodiorites formed from a mixed magma; • The formation of Cu-Mo polymetallic deposits depends on slab-derived Cl-enriched fluids, an oxidizing mixed source. The Cu-Mo polymetallic deposits are widespread in the Chizhou region, the Middle and Lower Yangtze River metallogenic belt, eastern China, but the formation of Cu-Mo polymetallic deposits remains unclear. Geochronological, geochemical and Sr-Nd-Hf isotopic compositions of the Cu-Mo polymetallic deposits in the Chizhou region are systemically investigated to reveal the formation of Cu-Mo polymetallic deposits and petrogenesis of the granodiorite (porphyry). The geochronological dating results show the formation ages of Cu-Mo polymetallic deposits (molybdenite Re-Os age, 151–148 Ma) and the granodiorites (porphyries) (zircon U-Pb age, 150–146 Ma) in the Chizhou region are simultaneous (within error). The Chizhou granodiorites (porphyries) (SiO 2 = 62.9–65.7 wt%) are high-K calc-alkaline peraluminous I-type granodiorites. They have high Mg# (mainly >40) values and low Na 2 O (<4.3 wt%) contents, negative whole-rock ε Nd (t) (−5.83 to −5.71) and zircon ε Hf (t) (−12.7 to −3.03) values, high apatite Cl contents (>0.2 wt%), and high log fO 2 values (−28.3 to −6.22). The distinctly chemical and isotopic compositions indicate that the Chizhou granodiorites formed from metasomatized mantle-derived magmas mixing with Neoproterozoic crustal components. The results indicate that the formation of the Cu-Mo polymetallic deposits in the Chizhou region may depend on the slab-derived Cl-enriched fluids, an oxidizing environment and a mantle-crust mixed source. In situ elemental compositions of sulfide minerals have been widely applied to trace ore-forming processes of magmatic-hydrothermal ore systems, yet the application of elemental compositions of the sulfide minerals in skarn ore deposits is still restricted by the lack of understanding of their behaviors during the skarn formation processes. In this study, in situ (LA-ICP-MS and EPMA) elemental compositions of medium- to coarse-grained euhedral pyrite and xenomorphic granular chalcopyrite are investigated for the Fenghuangshan and Baoshantao skarn Cu (Au) deposits in the Tongling region, eastern China. The results show that the studied pyrite samples have relatively consistent trace element composition characteristics, while the chalcopyrite studied displays high Zn, Ag and Pb contents, and relatively high Bi content. Au, Ag, Cu, Pb, Bi, Sb and Tl are mainly of lattice bound appearance in the pyrite structure. The Au, Ag, Sb, Pb and Bi are mainly incorporated into the chalcopyrite structure as coupled substitutions. Low Au (mainly < 0.1 ppm), Se (<3 ppm) and As (<100 ppm) contents, and high Co/Ni (mainly >1) and Se/Tl (mainly >10) ratios of the pyrite studied, and high Sn (>10 ppm) and low Tl (<1 ppm) contents of the chalcopyrite imply a high temperature, high oxygen fugacity and acidic pH magmatic-hydrothermal fluid for the Tongling skarn Cu (Au) mineralization. High Zn and Bi contents in the pyrite and chalcopyrite studied, and low Co/Ni ratios (<0.1) of the pyrite from quartz monzodiorite probably indicate a sedimentary component from subducted slab contribution to the magmatic-hydrothermal system. BACKGROUND Estrogen has an important role in unexplained recurrent spontaneous abortion (URSA). Polymorphisms of the ESR1 gene and the ESR2 gene have been identified as risk factors for URSA, but with varied associations in Chinese populations. This study aimed to compare the role of gene polymorphisms of ESR1 and ESR2 and the risk of URSA in the Chinese Hui and Chinese Han populations. MATERIAL AND METHODS Chinese Hui women (n=171) and Chinese Han women (n=234) with URSA were compared with healthy controls (n=417) matched by ethnicity and age. Genotyping was performed using direct sequencing and identified three polymorphisms of the ESR1 gene (rs9340799, rs2234693, and rs3798759) and three polymorphisms of the ESR2 gene (rs207764, rs4986938, and rs1256049). The association between ESR1 and ESR2 gene polymorphisms and the risk of URSA was evaluated statistically using the odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (CI). RESULTS No association was detected between the allelic, dominant, and recessive models of ESR1 and ESR2 gene polymorphisms and the risk of URSA in Chinese Han and Hui populations (p>0.05). The distribution of the AGT haplotype containing ESR2 gene polymorphisms rs2077647A, rs4986938G, and rs1256049T was significantly reduced in patients with URSA compared with controls in the Chinese Hui population (OR, 0.29; 95% CI, 0.14-0.62; p=0.0009; padj=0.005). CONCLUSIONS The AGT haplotype of the ESR2 gene containing the polymorphism rs2077647A, rs4986938G, and rs1256049T (ESR2 hapAGT) was a protective factor for URSA in women in the Chinese Hui population when compared with the Chinese Han population.

Fifty-six sudden unexplained death (SUD) cases were collected from Chinese Han population, which occurred during daily activities and were autopsy negative in comprehensive postmortem autopsy. The coding exons of potassium channel genes KCNE1, KCNQ1, and nitric oxide synthase gene NOS1AP were sequenced. A synonymous mutation, KCNE1 F54F T>C was identified in 2 SUD cases, which was absent in the control subjects. Neither genotype nor allele frequencies of KCNE1 and KCNQ1 exhibited a significant difference between the SUD and control group. In contrast, the allele frequency (p = 2.7 × 10(-10)) and genotype frequency (p = 5.9 × 10(-7)) of rs3751284, and the genotype frequency (p = 2.9 × 10(-2)) of rs348624 in NOS1AP of SUD were significantly different from that of controls (p < 0.05). Our study suggested that rs3751284 and rs348624 might be susceptibility loci for SUD during daily activities. Larger sample sizes and further molecular studies are needed to confirm or exclude an effect of the NOS1AP SNPs on SUD risk., (© 2014 American Academy of Forensic Sciences.)
