Soil enzymes play a central role in carbon and nutrient cycling, and their activities can be affected by drought-induced oxygen exposure. However, a systematic global estimate of enzyme sensitivity to drought in wetlands is still lacking. Through a meta-analysis of 55 studies comprising 761 paired observations, this study found that phosphorus-related enzyme activity increased by 38% as result of drought in wetlands, while the majority of other soil enzyme activities remained stable. The expansion of vascular plants under long-term drought significantly promoted the accumulation of phenolic compounds. Using a 2-week incubation experiment with phenol supplementation, we found that phosphorus-related enzyme could tolerate higher biotoxicity of phenolic compounds than other enzymes. Moreover, a long-term (35 years) drainage experiment in a northern peatland in China confirmed that the increased phenolic concentration in surface layer resulting from a shift in vegetation composition inhibited the increase in enzyme activities caused by rising oxygen availability, except for phosphorus-related enzyme. Overall, these results demonstrate the complex and resilient nature of wetland ecosystems, with soil enzymes showing a high degree of adaptation to drought conditions. These new insights could help evaluate the impact of drought on future wetland ecosystem services and provide a theoretical foundation for the remediation of degraded wetlands. Micro-energy systems contribute significantly to environmental improvement by reducing dependence on power grids through the utilization of multiple renewable energy sources. This study quantified the environmental impact of a micro-energy network system in an industrial park through a life cycle assessment using the operation of the micro-energy network over a year as the functional unit and "cradle-to-gate" as the system boundary. Based on the baseline scenario, a natural gas generator set was added to replace central heating, and the light pipes were expanded to constitute the optimized scenario. The results showed that the key impact categories for both scenarios were global warming, fine particulate matter formation, human carcinogenic toxicity, and human non-carcinogenic toxicity. The overall environmental impact of the optimized scenario was reduced by 68% compared to the baseline scenario. A sensitivity analysis of the key factors showed that electricity from the power grid was the key impact factor in both scenarios, followed by central heating and natural gas. Therefore, to reduce the environmental impact of network systems, it is necessary to further optimize the grid power structure. Cultural ecosystem services (CES) based on nature experiences substantially contribute to public health and human well-being. However, CES's supplydemand methodology remains scarcely explored on the coastal beach, and the demand relating to public preferences has not been sufficiently unveiled in spatial assessment. Here, we selected recreation services as a lens of CES and applied the knowledge of multi-source big data to better reflect public preferences. Point of Interests (POIs) refer to particularly valuable or interesting places. We proposed to integrate POIs and social media data (Weibo check-in) to quantify the demand for beach recreation services (BRS). We also used socioecological indicators to quantify the BRS's supply. The supply-demand balance of BRS was further identified by quadrant analysis and coupling coordination degree. Our methodology was applied to a typical coastal zone, Shenzhen Dapeng New District, in the Greater Bay Area of China. Over 80% of the beaches in the study area exhibited an imbalanced or barely balanced supplydemand of recreation services. We found that POIs density had a significant influence on a balanced supply-demand of BRS. Multi-source big data (POIs and Weibo check-in) provided an efficient, low-cost, and across-scale approach for public preference mapping than traditional questionnaire surveys. The proposed CES's supply-demand framework can identify coastal beaches with imbalanced recreation and support sustainable coastal management. Coastal beach management prioritizes not only waste prevention and sufficient safety signs but also proper infrastructure development that contribute sustainably to the human well-being of nature experiences. Despite observed ethnic differences in eating patterns and obesity, evidence in China is limited. This study examined ethnic differences in eating patterns and their associations with weight outcomes among multi-ethnic adults in West China. A cross-sectional survey collected self-reported data on demographics, eating behaviours, weight and height in 2021. Principal component analysis and multivariate regression were conducted to identify eating patterns and examine their associations with weight outcomes. In total, 4407 subjects aged ≥ 18 years were recruited across seven provinces in West China. Four eating patterns were identified: 'meat-lover' – characterised by frequent consumption of meat and dairy products, 'indulgent' – by frequent intakes of added salt, sugar, alcohol and pickled food, 'diversified-eating' – by frequently consuming food with diversified cooking methods and eating out and 'nutri-health-concerned' – by good food hygiene behaviours and reading food labels. Ethnic differences in eating patterns were observed. Compared with Han, Hui were less likely to exhibit meat-lover or diversified-eating patterns; Tibetans were less likely to have meat-lover or nutri-health-concerned patterns; Mongolians were more likely to have indulgent pattern. BMI was positively associated with meat-lover pattern in both genders (exp(β): 1·029; 95 % CI: 1·001, 1·058 for men; 1·018; 1·000, 1·036 for women) and negatively associated with nutri-health-concerned pattern in women (0·983; 0·966, 1·000). Mongolians were two times more likely to be overweight/obese than Han (OR: 3·126; 1·688, 5·790). Considerable ethnic differences existed in eating patterns in West China. Background: Traumatic spinal cord injury (TSCI) is a highly fatal and disabling event, and its incidence rate is increasing in China. Therefore, we collated the epidemiological factors of TSCI in different regions of China to update the earlier systematic review published in 2018. Method: We searched four English and three Chinese electronic databases from 1978 to October 1, 2022. From the included reports, information on sample characteristics, incidence, injury characteristics, prognostic factors, and economic burden was extracted. The selection of data was based on the PRISMA statement. The quality of the included studies was assessed by the Agency for Healthcare Research andQuality (AHRQ) tool. The results of themeta-analysis were presented in the form of pooled frequency and forest plots. Results: A total of 59 reports (60 studies) from 23 provinces were included, of which 41 were in the Chinese language. The random pooled incidence of TSCI in China was estimated to be 65.15 permillion (95% CI: 47.20-83.10 permillion), with a range of 6.7 to 569.7 per million. The pooled male-to-female ratio was 1.95:1. The pooled mean age of the cases at the time of injury was 45.4 years. Motor vehicle accidents (MVAs) and high falls were found to be the leading causes of TSCI. Incomplete quadriplegia and AISA/Frankel grade D were the most common types of TSCI. Cervical level injury was the most prevalent. The pooled in-hospital mortality and complication rates for TSCI in China were 3% (95% CI: 2-4%) and 35% (95% CI: 23-47%). Respiratory problems were the most common complication and the leading cause of death. Conclusion: Compared with previous studies, the epidemiological data on TSCI in China has changed significantly. A need to update the data over time is essential to implement appropriate preventive measures and formulate interventions according to the characteristics of the Chinese population. Rubus irritans Focke is a type of tonifying kidney-essence herb used in China. We present the complete chloroplast (cp) genome of R. irritans, a member of the genus Rubus. The complete cp genome of R. irritans was 155,286 bp long and consisted of an 84,613 bp long large single-copy (LSC) region, an 18,697 bp long SSC region, and a pair of 25,988 bp long inverted repeats (IR). Furthermore, the plastid genome contained 130 genes, including 85 protein-coding genes, 37 tRNA genes, and 8 rRNA genes. The overall GC content of the genome was 37.29%. Based on the complete cp genome, phylogenetic analysis revealed that R. irritans is closely related to R. amabilis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Grasslands have critically important ecological and economic values while most of them have been suffering from various degrees of degradation in China due to overgrazing. The "Forage-Livestock Balance" (FLB) policy has been implemented for more than a decade, aims to balance the relationship between forage productivity and grazing consumption of grasslands by livestock. According to the review of statistical data and literatures on policy evaluation, FLB-dominated subsidies for grassland ecological conservation policies are ineffective on grassland restoration, livestock reduction in some overloaded areas and improvement on herdsmen livelihood. To deal with the dilemma, we suggest a fundamental shift of strategy from controlling livestock numbers to maintaining and improving grassland health (MIGH) based on ecological theories, and promote the sustainable development of grassland in China. The results show that, FLB policy failed to obtain expected benefits mainly because it interfered with the herders' autonomous use of contracted grasslands along with the defects of its underlying theory and methodologies. Implementing reward and punishment based on ecosystem health will not only motivate herders to manage their grassland autonomously, but also be more scientific and feasible than FLB. As global change continues to intensify, the mode and rate of nitrogen input from the atmosphere to grassland ecosystems had changed dramatically. Firstly, we conducted a systematic analysis of the literature on the topic of nitrogen deposition impacts over the past 30 years using a bibliometric analysis. A systematic review of the global research status, publication patterns, research hotspots and important literature. We found a large number of publications in the Chinese region, and mainly focuses on the field of microorganisms. Secondly, we used a meta-analysis to focus on microbial changes using the Chinese grassland ecosystem as an example. The results show that the research on nitrogen deposition in grassland ecosystems shows an exponential development trend, and the authors and research institutions of the publications are mainly concentrated in China, North America, and Western Europe. The keyword clustering results showed 11 important themes labeled climate change, elevated CO2, species richness and diversity, etc. in these studies. The burst keyword analysis indicated that temperature sensitivity, microbial communities, etc. are the key research directions. The results of the meta-analysis found that nitrogen addition decreased soil microbial diversity, and different ecosystems may respond differently. Treatment time, nitrogen addition rate, external environmental conditions, and pH had major effects on microbial alpha diversity and biomass. The loss of microbial diversity and the reduction of biomass with nitrogen fertilizer addition will alter ecosystem functioning, with dramatic impacts on global climate change. The results of the study will help researchers to further understand the subject and have a deep understanding of research hotspots, which are of great value to future scientific research. Background: Few individuals have focused on the experience of students during social events, especially among college students with social anxiety disorder. This study aimed to explore the anxiety experience among college students with social anxiety disorder in social situations. Methods: This qualitative interpretive study was conducted on college students who were diagnosed with social anxiety disorder (SAD) and recruited from two colleges in Heilongjiang Province, China. A total of 7 participants were selected by purposive sampling with maximum variability. Data were collected through semistructured individual interviews, and data analysis was performed by using Colaizzi's 7-step analysis method. Results: The findings from the analysis of the interviews were classified into 4 themes and several main categories, including distorted self-awareness (3 main categories), fear of negative reaction from others (2 main categories), adverse reaction of body and mind (4 main categories) and strong desire to seek treatment. Conclusion: In our study, we sought to understand the anxiety experience among college students with social anxiety disorder in social situations. The study results provide a reference for psychologists and clinical medical staff and establish a scientific basis for the prevention and intervention of social anxiety disorder. The aim of the study was to develop an algorithm to predict postoperative pneumonia among elderly patients with lung cancer after video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery. We analyzed 3,009 patients from the Thoracic Perioperative Database for Geriatrics in our hospital and finally enrolled 1,585 elderly patients (age≧65 years) with lung cancer treated with video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery. The included patients were randomly divided into a training group (n = 793) and a validation group (n = 792). Patients in the training group were used to develop the algorithm after screening up to 30 potential risk factors, and patients in the validation group were used to internally validate the algorithm. External validation of the algorithm was achieved in the external validation dataset after enrolling 165 elderly patients with lung cancer treated with video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery from two hospitals in China. Of all included patients, 9.15% (145/1,585) of patients suffered from postoperative pneumonia in the Thoracic Perioperative Database for Geriatrics, and 10.30% (17/165) of patients had postoperative pneumonia in the external validation dataset. The algorithm consisted of seven variables, including sex, smoking, history of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), surgery duration, leukocyte count, intraoperative injection of colloid, and intraoperative injection of hormone. The C-index from the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROC) was 0.70 in the training group, 0.67 in the internal validation group, and 0.71 in the external validation dataset, and the corresponding calibration slopes were 0.88 (95% confident interval [CI]: 0.37–1.39), 0.90 (95% CI: 0.46–1.34), and 1.03 (95% CI: 0.24–1.83), respectively. The actual probabilities of postoperative pneumonia were 5.14% (53/1031) in the low-risk group, 15.07% (71/471) in the medium-risk group, and 25.30% (21/83) in the high-risk group (p < 0.001). The algorithm can be a useful prognostic tool to predict the risk of developing postoperative pneumonia among elderly patients with lung cancer after video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery. Objectives: The long-term outcome of childhood-onset schizophrenia (COS) and its influencing factors remain unclear. The current study aimed to assess the long-term outcomes of COS and identify possible outcome predictors. Methods: We retrospectively investigated 276 patients with COS. Diagnosis made according to the ICD-10 criteria for schizophrenia, and the age of the first onset was ≤ 14 years. Follow-up was completed for 170 patients, with a median follow-up period of 5.6 years. Outcome variables included occupational/education status and readmission. Spearman correlation was performed to assess the relationship between predictors and outcome variables. Binary logistic regression was conducted to detect possible predictor variables for outcome variables. Results: At the end of the follow-up, 89 patients (52.3%) were at school, 70 patients (41.2%) were employed, and only 11 patients (6.5%) were dropped out of school or unemployed. The duration to the first admission and depressive symptoms were identified as predictors of occupational/educational status. The length of follow-up and obsessive-compulsive symptoms (OCS) were distinguished as predictors of readmission. Duration to the first admission and length of follow-up were risk factors, and depressive symptoms and OCS were protective factors for the outcomes of COS. Conclusion: We found a favorable long-term outcome on occupational/education status in COS, and depressive symptoms and OCS may be associated with more positive long-term outcomes in COS. Background and Objectives: This study aimed to explore the correlation between population-based iodine intake from iodized salt (iodine-IS) and thyroid cancer (TC) incidence.Methods and Study Design: The TC incidence data were collected from the annual reports issued by China's National Central Cancer Registry. The iodine- IS data were extracted from the National Iodized Salt Surveys and National IDD Surveys (NIDDs). The time lag effect of iodine-IS on TC incidence was examined by using a polynomial distributed lag (PDL) model.Results: Iodine-IS consumption peaked in 1999, declined to approximately 60% of 1999 in 2018, but remained close to 142.2 μg/person/day. After 2000, TC incidence increased notably on an annual basis. Iodine-IS and the age-standardized rate adjusted to the world population of TC incidence were significantly negatively correlated (p<0.05). The PDL model revealed that iodine-IS had a significant 6-year time lag effect on TC incidence (p<0.05).Conclusions: Iodine nutrition, as indicated by iodine-IS, exhibited a steady decline. The populationbased iodine-IS was adequate, however, TC incidence continued increasing. Although the 6-year cumulative effect of iodine-IS was considered, a negative correlation between iodine-IS and TC incidence was observed. Iodine- IS may not be a major risk factor for TC because universal salt iodization is maintaining adequate iodine nutrition in the population. Background: ALK rearrangement is a very rare subset of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and one of the clinical features in patients is lack of data. Here, we report eight patients diagnosed with SCC of the lung harboring ALK rearrangement. Methods: We collected primary NSCLC samples at the Beijing Chest Hospital between January 2012 and December 2018 for Ventana (D5F3) immunohistochemical detection. Among the 148 patients was diagnosed ALK‐rearranged non small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), only eight cases was SCC. We collected patients information from electronic patent records (EPRs). Results: The eight cases of SCC were diagnosed by immunohistochemistry (IHC). Two were given crizotinib as second‐line therapy. One patient had stable disease (SD) and progression‐free survival (PFS) of six months. The other patient had progressive disease (PD) but PFS was only one month. The side effects were tolerable. This report identified 31 cases of ALK rearrangement in SCC patients from a literature search (including the eight patients in this study). These fusion genes are often seen in a younger age group (mean age: 55.6 years) and non‐smokers (18/31, 58.1%). A total of 20 cases received an ALK inhibitor as first‐ or second‐line treatment which included 11 with a partial response (PR), four with SD, and five with PD. The DCR and ORR was 75.0% (15/20) and 55.0% (11/20), respectively. The median duration time of therapy was 6.4 ± 4.4 months. Conclusions: Patients with ALK‐rearranged SCC obtained clinical benefit from ALK‐inhibitor therapy, especially those who were non‐smokers and whose tumors had been identified by IHC+/FISH+. The reservoirs of volcanic rocks in the Junggar Basin of Xinjiang in China are abundant in reserves with potential for exploration and development. They have the characteristics of high heterogeneity and fracture development. The occurrence of bottom water coning is a serious problem during oilfield development, which leads to a rapid increase in the well water cut and greatly affects the reservoir exploitation. In this paper, a visualized model experiment was carded out to simulate the mechanism of nitrogen injection suppression of bottom water coning, based on full diameter core with developed fracture, using X-ray imaging technology and oilfield tests. The research results show that nitrogen injection has a certain effect on suppressing bottom water coning. Nitrogen can block the high-permeability water flow channel, enter the low-permeability area, and improve fluidic', of the crude oil. The timing of nitrogen injection is the main controlling factor affecting gas injection development. Gas injection after a long-term high water cut period is the main reason for the poor ((MCI of suppression of bottom water coning in the oilfield. When the water cut is relatively low, the bottom water suppression effect is better. When the water cut is 70%-80%, the gas injection effect is the best. Moreover, the greater the nitrogen injection pressure and the longer the soak time, the better will be the effect of the bottom water coning suppression. In this paper, a reasonable development strategy of nitrogen injection to suppress bottom water coning is proposed through an experimental study, which is of great significance for guiding the development of volcanic reservoirs in the oiffield. Background: Information on possible donor-derived transmission events in China is limited. We evaluated the impacts of liver transplantation from infected deceased-donors, analyzed possible donor-derived bacterial or fungal infection events in recipients, and evaluated the etiologic agents' characteristics and cases outcomes.Methods: A single-center observational study was performed from January 2015 to March 2017 to retrospectively collect data from deceased-donors diagnosed with infection. Clinical data were recorded for each culture-positive donor and the matched liver recipient. The microorganisms were isolated and identified, and antibiotic sensitivity testing was performed. The pathogens distribution and incidence of possible donor-derived infection (P-DDI) events were analyzed and evaluated.Results: Information from 211 donors was collected. Of these, 82 donors were infected and classified as the donation after brain death category. Overall, 149 and 138 pathogens were isolated from 82 infected donors and 82 matched liver recipients, respectively. Gram-positive bacteria, Gram-negative bacteria, and fungi accounted for 42.3% (63 of 149), 46.3% (69 of 149), and 11.4% (17 of 149) of pathogens in infected donors. The incidence of multidrug-resistant bacteria was high and Acinetobacter baumannii was the most concerning species. Infections occurred within the first 2 weeks after liver transplantation with an organ from an infected donor. Compared with the noninfection recipient group, the infection recipient group experienced a longer mechanical ventilation time (P = .004) and intensive care unit stay (P = .003), a higher incidence of renal dysfunction (P = .026) and renal replacement therapy (P = .001), and higher hospital mortality (P = .015). Possible donor-derived infection was observed in 14.6% of cases. Recipients with acute-on-chronic liver failure were more prone to have P-DDI than recipients with other diseases (P = .007; odds ratio = 0.114; 95% confidence interval, .025-.529).Conclusions: When a liver recipient receives a graft from an infected deceased-donor, the postoperative incidence of infection is high and the infection interval is short. Background. Treatment response for the Mycobacterium abscessus (M. abscessus) lung disease remains far from satisfying. An effective regimen is needed to solve the problem. Methods. We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of all patients with M. abscessus lung disease who received antibiotics regimen at Beijing Chest Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University between July 1, 2010, and February 1, 2018. Patients were administered a conventional antibiotics regimen (including macrolide and moxifloxacin, along with an initial 12-week course of low-dose cefoxitin and amikacin) or intensified regimen (including a higher dosage of cefoxitin and linezolid besides conventional drugs), respectively. The time to sputum-culture conversion and proportion of sputum-culture conversion in liquid broth were investigated to evaluate the efficacy and evaluation of safety by performing the classification of adverse events according to the Division of AIDS, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease. Patients were followed for 18 months from baseline. Results. In the conventional regimen group, the sputum conversion rate at 18 months was 29.4% (10/34), and the median time until sputum conversion was 2 months (IQR, 1-2 mo). Furthermore, in the intensified regimen group, the sputum conversion rate was 81.3% (13/16), and the median time until sputum conversion was 1 month (IQR, 1-1 mo). Leukopenia and drug-induced hepatotoxicity occurred more frequently in the intensified regimen group in contrast with the conventional regimen group patients. However, only 1 adverse event in the intensified regimen group was classified as severe adverse event. Conclusions. The intensified regimen could improve sputum conversion of M. abscessus lung disease compared with conventional regimen, but close safety surveillance is necessary to monitor adverse events. Sequences of individual words make up media reports. And sequences of media reports constitute the power of the news media to influence corporate practices. In this paper, we focus on the micro-foundations of news reports to elaborate how an atmosphere of negative news reports following an initial exposure of corporate pollution activity can help stop such activity through their impact on corporate managers. We extend our understanding of the corporate governance effect of news media by considering two new aspects of reports-one, the proportion of words in negative reports relative to the total number of words in all reports; and two, the geographical origin of news media. We suggest that the more negative the media coverage, and the more local this coverage, the greater the impact on corporations. Our study of news media reports from more than 600 newspaper sources on disciplining pollution activities of listed Chinese firms from 2004 to 2012 provides strong support for our hypotheses. Real-time fMRI neurofeedback (rtfMRI-nf) is a promising tool for enhancing emotion regulation capability of subjects and for the potential alleviation of neuropsychiatric disorders. The amygdala is composed of structurally and functionally distinct nuclei, such as the basolateral amygdala (BLA) and centromedial amygdala (CMA), both of which are involved in emotion processing, generation, and regulation. However, the effect of rtfMRI-nf on the resting-state functional connectivity (rsFC) of BLA and CMA remains to be elucidated. In our study, participants were provided with ongoing information on their emotion states by using real-time multivariate voxel pattern analysis. Results showed that participants presented significantly increased rsFC of BLA and CMA with prefrontal cortex, rostral anterior cingulate cortex, and some others related to emotion after rtfMRI-nf training. The findings provide important evidence for the emotion regulation effectiveness of rtfMRI-nf training and indicate its usefulness as a tool for the self-regulation of emotion. Background: Flood is common in China and causes extensive loss of property and human lives. Elderly is a vulnerable population prone to the detrimental impacts of floods. This survey aims to investigate the health status and the HRQoL of the elderly in Bazhong city after a major flood in 2011. Methods: A total of 1183 elderly (aged > 60) were surveyed through random sampling from eight villages in Bazhong city. Two-week healthcare-seeking rate and chronic diseases prevalence were recorded anonymously. Health-related quality of life (HRQoL) was measured by the Medical Outcomes Study Short Form-36 (MOS SF-36). Multivariate regression analysis was conducted to determine the associated factors of poor HRQoL. Results: The two-week healthcare-seeking rate among post-flood Bazhong elderly was significantly higher than the references rate among rural elderly in Sichuan province (59.3% versus 55.7%, X2 = 5.134, p = 0.013), but Bazhong elderly demonstrated a significantly lower prevalence of chronic disease (33.2% versus 44.4%, X2 = 48.847, p < 0.001). All dimension scores among Bazhong elderly were significantly lower than the references scores in rural Sichuan elderly. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a group of small RNAs with a fundamental role in the regulation of gene expression. These RNAs have been shown to participate in various cellular and physiological processes, including cellular development, apoptosis, proliferation, and differentiation. Aberrant expression of several miRNAs was found to be involved in a large variety of neoplasms, including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Previous studies have shown the existence of a large amount of stable miRNAs in human serum/plasma, which laid the foundation for studying the role of serum/plasma miRNAs in the diagnosis and prognosis of HCC. The relationships among six species of the Amiota taurusata Takada, Beppu, & Toda (Diptera: Drosophilidae) species group were investigated based on DNA sequence data of the mitochondrial NADH dehydrogenase subunit 2 (ND2) gene, using three species of the genus Amiota as outgroups. A mitochondrial gene, cytochrome c oxidase I (COI), can be used to discriminate between species of the taurusata group. Two new species are described from South China: A. protuberantis Shao et Chen, sp. nov. and A. shennongi Shao et Chen, sp. nov. To reveal the geochemical characters of water coproduced with coalbed gas and shallow groundwater, water samples were collected from 12 wells of coalbed methane and 7 wells of shallow groundwater. The pH, CODMn? fCO2, total dissolved solids (TDS), total hardness, and concentrations of metasilicic acid, sodium and kalium, calcium ion, magnesium ion, ammonium iron, bicarbonate ion, carbonate, chloride, sulfate ion, nitrate ion, fluoride, lithium, zinc, nickel, manganese, iron, boron, barium, etc. of the samples were measured. Research results showed the following: (1) Concentrations of TDS, chloride, fluoride, sodium and kalium, ammonium, iron, and barium in the water coproduced with coalbed gas exceeded the national standards of China; however, physical, chemical, and biological properties of shallow groundwater could meet the national standard. (2) The water produced from coalbed contained mainly Na-Cl·HCO3, with average TDS of 4588.5 ppm, whereas shallow groundwater contained a mixture of chemicals including Na·Mg·Ca-HCO3·SO4 and Na·Mg-HCO3·SO4, with average TDS of 663.8 ppm. (3) In general, it was observed that bicarbonate and sodium accumulated in a reducing environment and deeper system, while depletion of hydrogen ions and dissolution of sulfate, calcium, and magnesium occurred in a redox environment and shallow system. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) play a very important role in national production, and provide more than 60% of the employment opportunities for the society. The benign development of small and medium-sized enterprises determines the sustainability of economic operation. In recent years, small and medium-sized enterprises have faced increasing operational pressure. Due to scale limitations, insufficient funds and weak bargaining power, small and medium-sized enterprises are often at a disadvantage when dealing with suppliers. One the one hand, large suppliers rely on the imbalance of bargaining power to increase the transaction costs of small and medium-sized enterprises; On the other hand, small and medium-sized suppliers with poor reputation may use legal loopholes to commit fraud, which may even threaten the survival of small and medium-sized enterprises in severe cases. However, the existing literature focuses more on the situation of large organizations facing complex and diverse suppliers. Therefore, this paper constructed a supplier selection evaluation framework for small and medium-sized enterprises, and proposed an extended PROMETHEE Ⅱ method to achieve sustainable supplier selection process. First, establish a sustainable supplier selection evaluation framework from the three dimensions of product and service capability, cooperation degree and risk factors; Second, combine the PROMETHEE Ⅱ approach with subjective preference parameters and probability language term set (PLTS) to obtain an extended PROMETHEE Ⅱ approach; Last, use the methodology of this paper to implement sustainable supplier selection for a small and medium-sized enterprise (M company) in China. The spatial-temporal variability of the precipitation extremes defined by eight precipitation indices based on daily precipitation dataset was analyzed using the linear regression method and the Mann-Kendall test. The results indicate that increasing trends in the precipitation amount, rainy days, and the intensity of the extreme precipitation were identified at above 70 % of the total rain stations considered in this study, with more than 30 % of them were significant, while most stations show notable decreasing trend in the annual maximum consecutive no-rain days. Significantly increasing trends of the precipitation extremes are observed mainly in the northern Xinjiang and the north of the southern Xinjiang. Most extreme precipitation indices show a potential regime shift starting from the middle of 1980s. The magnitude of the trends is compatible with their pattern of spatial stability. Background: Many studies have suggested that hepatitis B virus (HBV) genotypes show not only geographical distribution and race specificity, but also are associated with disease progression and response to interferon treatment. The objective of this study was to develop a nested polymerase chain reaction (nPCR) assay for genotypes A-D and subgenotypes B1, B2, C1 and C2 of hepatitis B virus (HBV) and to investigate the distribution characteristics of HBV genotypes/subgenotype in China. Methods: After redesigning the primers and optimizing the reaction conditions using common Taq polymerase, the sensitivity, specificity and reproducibility of the method were evaluated using plasmids and serum samples. In total, 642 serum samples from patients with chronic HBV infection were applied to investigate the distribution of HBV genotype and subgenotype in China. Results: The genotype and subgenotype could be identified when the HBV DNA load of a sample was ≥102.3 IU/mL. For the 639 successfully genotyped samples, the sequencing results of 130 randomly selected samples (20.3%, 130/639) were consistent with those of the nPCR method. The present study showed that HBV genotype B (11.2%, 72/642), C (68.2%, 438/642) and D (7.2%, 46/642) were circulating in China, while genotype C was the dominant strain except for western region where genotype D was the prevalent strain. The main subgenotypes of genotypes B and C were B2 (87.5%, 63/72) and C2 (92.9%, 407/438), respectively. It discusses the construction of the molecular phylogeny on the basis of mitochondrial DNA sequences of NADH dehydrogenase and cytochrome oxidase genes. Abstract: Coal is the primary energy resource in China, with the raw coal production reaching 2.8 billion tons in 2008. However, great amount of coalmine methane is released during coal exploitation, which runs up to over 3.5 billion cubic meters. To minimize environmental pollution caused by coalmine methane and to promote resource utilization, various systems for utilizing coalmine methane energy are developed in China. Common types of such systems include power generation system utilizing coalmine methane, combined-heat-and-power system of coalmine methane, thermal energy provision system of coalmine methane, and fuel-gas provision system, etc. This paper describes elements, characteristics, and applicability of these systems and presents thermal economy analysis to specific system. Thermal economic indexes, such as exergic efficiency and exergic losses of specific coalmine methane energy utilization system are obtained. These data are very useful in finding the way to make further progress in improving thermal economy of coalmine methane energy utilization systems as well as providing technical support to make tradeoffs among those systems. In addition, the possibility of serving coalmine methane energy utilization systems as distributed energy resource is discussed and potential problems summarized. Exhumed (ultra)high-pressure ([U]HP) metamorphic rocks are markers of paleosubduction zones and can provide crucial implications for the geodynamic evolution of subduction-exhumation. A variety of (U)HP metamorphic rocks from many collisional orogens have commonly documented a lowpressure high-temperature overprint, which appears to indicate a pervasive geodynamic process behind (U)HP metamorphic rock exhumation. A good case study of garnet amphibolite and associated garnet-biotite gneiss with an unambiguous low-pressure high-temperature overprint in the Xixia-Xiaguan area of the North Qinling Orogen, central China, provides a significant opportunity to uncover this geodynamic process. A detailed study of petrography, mineral chemistry, and phase equilibria modeling suggests that the investigated garnet amphibolite and garnet-biotite gneiss have jointly experienced multistage exhumation processes with near-isothermal decompression from the (U)HP eclogite facies (26.8-29.0 kbar/740-775 °C) to the mediumpressure (MP) amphibolite facies (8.7-10.0 kbar/740-775 °C), subsequent remarkable near-isobaric heating to the low-pressure (LP) granulite facies (6.8-8.2 kbar/832-835 °C), followed by final decompression and cooling to the LP amphibolite facies (5.8-6.8 kbar/740-757 °C). U-Pb age dating of zircons from the garnet amphibolite and garnetbiotite gneiss yielded metamorphic ages of ca. 500 Ma, 450 Ma, and 400 Ma, which we consider to represent (U)HP eclogite-facies, LP granulite-facies, and late LP amphibolite-facies metamorphism, respectively. According to the regional geology and the metamorphic history we have determined, this multistage exhumation process of twostep exhumation stages delimited by a phase of LP near-isobaric heating was associated with slab rollback. Accordingly, we propose a tectonic model of exhumation driven by slab rollback for the geodynamic evolution of (U)HP metamorphic rock exhumation in the North Qinling Orogen. Additionally, a combination of previous studies and our new results suggests that exhumation driven by slab rollback appears to be a fundamental mechanism for the (U)HP metamorphic rock exhumation within collisional orogens. The COVID-19 pandemic has a heavy impact on the mental health of elderly surgical patients worldwide. In particular, the elderly patients faced considerable psychological stress due to various environmental and medical factors during the outbreak. This study aims to examine changes in mental health trends among non-cardiac surgical patients aged 65 and above in China during the COVID-19 pandemic. This multi-center, convenient sampling, longitudinal observational study was conducted from April 1, 2020 to April 30, 2022. Primary outcome was the prevalence of postoperative depression. Secondary outcome was the prevalence of postoperative anxiety. Follow-up was conducted separately at 7 days and 30 days after surgery. Depression symptoms were assessed using the Patient Health Questionnaire 9 (PHQ-9) scale. Anxiety symptoms were assessed using Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7) scale, with scores of ≥5 defining positive depression or anxiety symptoms. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to investigate risk factors of mental health status in more elderly patients undergoing non-cardiac surgery. A total of 4639 patients were included, of whom 2279 (46.0 %) were male, 752 (15.2 %) were over the age of 75, and 4346 (93.7 %) were married. The monthly prevalence trends demonstrated that compared to the outbreak period, a significant reduction in the prevalence of depression and anxiety symptoms in elderly patients who underwent surgery during the post-pandemic period. In post-pandemic period, a statistically significant decrease in the prevalence of all severity depression and anxiety patients was noted at the 7-day follow-up, but no significant decrease was observed for severe depression and anxiety in the 30-day follow-up. In COVID-19 low-risk area, a significant overall decrease in prevalence of mental health was observed during the post-pandemic period compared to the outbreak period, including 7-day depression, 7-day anxiety, 30-day depression, and 30-day anxiety (all with P < 0.001). Female and patients with ≥2 comorbidities appeared to be more susceptible to postoperative depression and anxiety during the pandemic. Background:The treatment of patients with MDR- and XDR-TB is usually more complex, toxic and costly and less effective than treatment of other forms of TB. However, there is little information available on risk factors for poor outcomes in patients with MDR- and XDR-TB in China. Methodology/Principal Findings:We retrospectively analyzed the clinical records of HIV-negative TB Patients with culture-proven MDR- or XDR-TB who were registered from July 2006 to June 2011 at five large-scale Tuberculosis Specialized Hospitals in China. Among 1662 HIV-seronegative TB cases which were culture-positive for M. tuberculosis complex and had positive sputum-smear microscopy results, 965 cases (58.1%) were DR-TB, and 586 cases (35.3%) were classified as having MDR-TB, accounting for 60.7% of DR-TB. 169 cases (10.2%) were XDR-TB, accounting for 17.5% of DR-TB, 28.8% of MDR-TB. The MDR-TB patients were divided into XDR-TB group (n=169) and other MDR-TB group (non-XDR MDR-TB) (n=417). In total, 240 patients (40.95%) had treatment success, and 346 (59.05%) had poor treatment outcomes. The treatment success rate in other MDR-TB group was 52.2%, significantly higher than that in the XDR-TB group (13%, P<0.001). In multivariate logistic regression analysis, poor outcomes were associated with duration of previous anti-TB treatment of more than one year (OR, 0.077; 95% CI, 0.011-0.499, P<0.001), a BMI less than 18.5 kg/m2 (OR, 2.185; 95% CI, 1.372-3.478, P<0.001), XDR (OR, 13.368; 95% CI, 6.745-26.497, P<0.001), retreatment (OR, 0.171; 95% CI, 0.093-0.314, P<0.001), diabetes (OR, 0.305; 95% CI, 0.140-0.663, P=0.003), tumor (OR, 0.095; 95% CI, 0.011-0.795, P=0.03), decreased albumin (OR, 0.181; 95% CI, 0.118-0.295, P<0.001), cavitation (OR, 0.175; 95% CI, 0.108-0.286, P<0.001). Conclusions/Significance:The patients with MDR-TB and XDR-TB have poor treatment outcomes in China.The presence of extensive drug resistance, low BMI, hypoalbuminemia, comorbidity, cavitary disease and previous anti-TB treatment are independent prognostic factors for poor outcome in patients with MDR-TB. The nature of source rocks and the pressure-temperature-hydration (P-T-H2O) condition are the two main factors that control the geochemical properties of granites. Therefore, the evolution of P-T-H2O conditions can be used to deduce the tectonic setting of granites. In this paper, we report on three Paleozoic granite plutons along the Shangdan suture that revealed increasing melting temperature and decreasing pressure from 437 to 403 Ma, suggesting a crustal thinning process. The Tieyupu granodiorites (437 ± 4 Ma) display Na-rich adakite affinity, i.e., SiO2 = 69.1-70.1 wt%, Na2O/K2O = 1.9-2.26, positive zircon εHf(t) values (+4.29 to +12.04), and high Sr/Y (137-160) and Y/Yb (9.89-10.25) ratios, implying a garnet-rich residue in their source. In combination with moderate zircon saturation temperatures (814-822 °C), we infer that the Tieyupu granodiorites were formed by melting of Neoproterozoic metabasites under high-pressure (>1.5 GPa) and moderate-temperature (HP-MT) conditions. The Liangchahe granodiorites (415 ± 8 Ma) also display Na-rich adakite affinity, i.e., higher Na2O/K2O (2.16-3.11) and lower Sr/Y (77-88) ratios, and higher zircon saturation temperatures (854-874 °C), and they are interpreted to have been derived from melting of metabasites under moderate-pressure (>1.0 GPa) and high-temperature (MP-HT) conditions. Their variable zircon εHf(t) values (-14.97 to +9.80) and the existence of zircon xenocrysts suggest that the primitive adakitic melts were assimilated by evolved crustal components. The Yaogou monzogranites (403 ± 4 Ma) have the highest K2O/Na2O (0.81-1.00) ratios and total rare earth element (ΣREE; 105-191 ppm) contents, lowest Sr/Y (14-43) ratios, positive zircon εHf(t) values (+6.79 to +12.22), and highest zircon saturation temperatures (891-973 °C), showing they were formed by high-temperature melting of intermediate rocks under low-pressure conditions (<1.0 GPa). The evolution of P-T conditions revealed by these three granites suggests that crustal growth and differentiation were related to gradual extensional and melting of mafic protoliths in the orogenic belt. River snails rice noodles, also named Luosifen, are a local specialty food in Liuzhou (Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China). This specialty snack has been sold to 28 countries and regions with the rapid development of pre-packaged river snails rice noodles, and it became the first "Internet celebrity" product in the field of convenience food in China. Pickled bamboo shoots, as the "soul" of Luosifen, present a unique fermented vinegary malodor with a crisp and refreshing taste. Consumers deeply love the distinctive flavor. Therefore, the variety of microorganisms and the composition of flavor compounds in pickled bamboo shoots are reviewed, and their relationships are summarized. The problems and challenges in large-scale industrial production of pickled bamboo shoots are discussed. The composition of microorganisms in pickled bamboo shoots is diverse, the dominant phyla are Firmicutes and Proteobacteria , the superior genera are Lactobacillus , Serratia , and so on, and the prominent species are Lactobacillus fermentum , Lactiplantibacillus plantarum , and others. The main flavor compounds are aromatics, organic acids, alcohols, aldehydes, and esters. Among them, p -cresol is the primary substance responsible for the distinctive taste of pickled bamboo shoots. A notable positive association was noted between p -cresol and Clostridium_sensu_stricto_ 1. Abstract: The East Asian respond with a marked facial flushing and mild to moderate symptoms of intoxication after drinking the amounts of alcohol that has no detectable effect on European. The alcohol sensitivity in Orientals is due to a delayed oxidation of acetaldehyde by an atypical aldehyde dehydrogenase ALDH2⁎487Lys, which is resulted from a structural mutation in gene ALDH2. The atypical ALDH2⁎487Lys allele has been associated with various phenotypic statuses, such as protective against alcohol dependence and the risk of alcohol-related digestive tract cancers. Here, we have examined this SNP, adjacent four non-coding SNPs, and one downstream STRP on ALDH2 gene, in total of 1072 unrelated healthy individuals from 14 Chinese populations and 130 Indian individuals. Five major haplotypes based on five SNPs across the ALDH2 gene 40 kb were found in all East Asian populations. The frequencies of the ancestral haplotype GCCTG and the East Asian special haplotype GCCTA containing the atypical ALDH2⁎487Lys allele were 44.8% and 14.9%, respectively. The frequency of the atypical ALDH2⁎487Lys allele or the East Asian specific haplotype GCCTA is high in Yunnan, South coastal, east coastal of China, and decreased gradually toward inland China, West, Northwest and North China. Combined with demographic history in East Asian, our results showed that the presence of ALDH2⁎487Lys allele in peripheral regions of China might be the results of historical migration events from China to these regions. [Display omitted] • Lactococcus and Leuconostoc were the core bacteria of fresh fermented rice noodle. • Aldehyde, ester, alcohol, ketone were the key volatiles of fresh fermented rice noodle. • 171 pair-wise correlations among 61 volatiles and 10 bacteria were found. To clarify the discrepancy in characteristic flavor and bacteria composition of 10 fresh fermented rice noodles from southern China, the volatile and bacteria composition were determined by headspace-gas chromatography ion mobility spectrometry and 16SrRNA sequencing methods. The potential relationship between volatile compounds and bacterial composition has also been further revealed using spearman's correlation analysis. The contents of proximate composition, cooking properties and texture properties of 10 fresh fermented rice noodles exhibited significant different among them (p ＜ 0.05). The flavor analysis showed that a total of 54 compounds were detected. 1-Octen-one, ethyl 3-methylbutanoate, 3-methylbutanal, n-nonanal, hexanal, amyl acetate, ethanol and 2-pentyl furan were the key volatiles among them. The bacterial analysis showed that Leuconostoc and Lactococcus were the core bacteria at the genu level of all samples. Amyl acetate, 2-butanone and methyl-2-methylpropanoate were positively related to Lactococcus while ethanol was negatively correlated with Lactococcus. And Leuconostoc was positively related to 3-methylbutanal and acetone, while was negatively correlated with hexanal. Abstract: The medicinal plant Solanum lyratum Thunb（Solanaceae）is distributed widely in China. The present phytochemical investigation on S. lyratum led to the isolation of ten known Nitrogen-containing compounds. Compounds 1, 2, 3, 6, 9 were isolated for the first time from this plant and compounds 8,10 were obtained for the first time from Solanum. Compound 10 was isolated from Solanaceae family and obtained outside from Loganiaceae family for the first time. This has important chemotaxonomic significance on solanaceae. This study was to find out novel miRNAs whether could be used as diagnostic or prognostic biomarkers in sepsis. We used miRNAs microarray assays and further confirmed the levels of miRNAs in 151 septic patients' plasma. 56 miRNAs were up-regulated and 74 miRNAs down-regulated in septic patients compared with the healthy volunteers. But only miR-519c-5p and miR-3622b-3p were up-regulated in both septic and septic shock patients. The levels of miR-519c-5p and miR-3622b-3p were statistically higher in 151 septic patients than healthy controls on day 1. The AUC for miR-519c-5p was 0.79 (95% CI, 0.688-0.892, p = 0.001) in the diagnosis of sepsis, and the AUC for miR-3622b-3p 0.752 (95% CI, 0.622-0.881, p = 0.003). The AUC for the combination of these two miRNAs was 0.831 (95% CI, 0.74-0.923, p < 0.001). Besides, the AUC for miR-519c-5p was 0.597 (p = 0.043) in predicting 28-day mortality. MiR-519c-5p, miR-3622b-3p were novel biomarkers for diagnosing septic patients. High miR-519c-5p levels suggest a worse short-term prognosis. In dynamic video target detection tasks, distractors may suddenly appear due to the dynamicity of the visual scene and the uncertainty of the visual information, strongly influencing participants' attention and target detection performance. Moreover, the neural mechanism that accounts for dynamic distractor processing remains unknown, which makes it difficult to compensate for in EEG-based video target detection. Here, cortical activities with high spatiotemporal resolution were reconstructed using the source localization method. The time-varying networks among important brain regions in different cognitive phases, including information integration, decision-making, and execution, were identified to investigate the neural mechanism of dynamic distractor processing. The experimental results indicated that dynamic distractors could induce a P3-like component. In addition, there was obvious asymmetry between the two hemispheres during video target detection. Specifically, the brain responses induced by dynamic distractors were weak and more concentrated in the left hemisphere during the information integration phase; left superior frontal gyrus activity related to preparation for the presence of distractors was critical, while the attention network and primary visual network, especially in the left visual pathway, were more active for dynamic targets during the decision-making phase. Objective: We aimed to explore the educational outcome and influencing factors of ongoing verbal rehabilitation training together with inclusive education among prelingually deaf children with a cochlear implant., Methods: Prelingually deaf children who underwent cochlear implantation, rehabilitation, and had inclusive education placement were randomly divided into two groups: one group received continuous verbal rehabilitation training under inclusive education status; the other group did not receive this training. Speech discrimination scores were determined., Results: Among 60 included children, subjectively perceived academic adaptability, peer relations, initiative communication, and teacher's involvement under inclusive education, as well as speech discrimination scores, were all significantly different between groups. Continuous verbal rehabilitation training influenced the subjective perception of children and resulted in higher speech discrimination scores and more positive subjective perception. Subjective perception was not significantly correlated with chronological age, sex, age at the time of cochlear implantation, or duration of inclusive education., Conclusion: Ongoing verbal rehabilitation training within inclusive education can largely improve the education placement outcomes of prelingually deaf children with cochlear implants.

Background: In acute ischemic stroke, there is uncertainty regarding the benefit and risk of administering intravenous alteplase before endovascular thrombectomy., Methods: We conducted a trial at 41 academic tertiary care centers in China to evaluate endovascular thrombectomy with or without intravenous alteplase in patients with acute ischemic stroke. Patients with acute ischemic stroke from large-vessel occlusion in the anterior circulation were randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to undergo endovascular thrombectomy alone (thrombectomy-alone group) or endovascular thrombectomy preceded by intravenous alteplase, at a dose of 0.9 mg per kilogram of body weight, administered within 4.5 hours after symptom onset (combination-therapy group). The primary analysis for noninferiority assessed the between-group difference in the distribution of the modified Rankin scale scores (range, 0 [no symptoms] to 6 [death]) at 90 days on the basis of a lower boundary of the 95% confidence interval of the adjusted common odds ratio equal to or larger than 0.8. We assessed various secondary outcomes, including death and reperfusion of the ischemic area., Results: Of 1586 patients screened, 656 were enrolled, with 327 patients assigned to the thrombectomy-alone group and 329 assigned to the combination-therapy group. Endovascular thrombectomy alone was noninferior to combined intravenous alteplase and endovascular thrombectomy with regard to the primary outcome (adjusted common odds ratio, 1.07; 95% confidence interval, 0.81 to 1.40; P = 0.04 for noninferiority) but was associated with lower percentages of patients with successful reperfusion before thrombectomy (2.4% vs. 7.0%) and overall successful reperfusion (79.4% vs. 84.5%). Mortality at 90 days was 17.7% in the thrombectomy-alone group and 18.8% in the combination-therapy group., Conclusions: In Chinese patients with acute ischemic stroke from large-vessel occlusion, endovascular thrombectomy alone was noninferior with regard to functional outcome, within a 20% margin of confidence, to endovascular thrombectomy preceded by intravenous alteplase administered within 4.5 hours after symptom onset. Objectives: This study aimed to elucidate the status of hypertension and to analyse the hypertension changes in prevalence, awareness, treatment and control rate among the portion of Chinese nursing staff based on the 2017 American College of Cardiology (ACC)/American Heart Association (AHA) High Blood Pressure Guideline and the 2010 Chinese Guideline for the Management of Hypertension., Design: Cross-sectional study., Setting: 512 medical institutions in 13 cities in Hebei Province., Participants: The candidates of registered nurses from 512 medical institutions in 13 cities in Hebei Province (N=143 772) were invited to participate in the survey, and few of them who refused to participate were excluded from the research group based on the reasons that 93 603 incumbent nurses at the age of 18-65 accepted to the survey and submitted questionnaires online. Undoubtedly, a response rate of 65.11% was achieved. After excluding 788 individuals with incomplete information in the questionnaires, 92 815 participants were included in the final analysis., Main Outcome Measures: The prevalence, awareness, treatment and control rates of hypertension., Results: 92 815 participants were included in the final analysis, among which consisted of 3677 men (3.96%) and 89 138 women (96.04%). The mean age of the participants was 31.65 (SD=7.47) years.We demonstrated that 26 875 nursing staff were diagnosed as having hypertension according to the new standard by the 2017 ACC/AHA guideline, more than 20 551 cases compared with the previous threshold on the 2010 Chinese guideline. The prevalence of hypertension among nursing staff was 28.96% in the context of the 2017 ACC/AHA guideline, 3.25 times higher than that (6.81%) evaluated by the criteria of the 2010 Chinese guideline. However, the awareness, treatment and control rate (13.50%, 10.73% and 0.81%) were 3.25, 3.22 and 17.48 times lower than those (57.37%, 45.30% and 14.97%) based on the 2010 Chinese guideline, respectively., Conclusions: This research illustrated that it was crucial to improve the awareness rate, drug treatment rate and control rate of hypertension for nurses. Objective: Sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL) is a common acute disease with an incidence of 0.5-2/10,000. This study aimed to determine whether the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and the platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) could be indicators for SSNHL., Methods: A total of 60 confirmed cases of SSNHL and 60 healthy volunteers were included in this study. Peripheral blood NLRs and PLRs were compared between these groups. The SSNHL patients were divided into two groups, according to therapeutic effect: an effective group and an ineffective group. Peripheral blood NLRs and PLRs before and after treatment were compared between these two groups., Results: The average NLRs and PLRs of these patients were both significantly higher than in controls. The average NLRs and PLRs of the ineffective group were both significantly higher than those of the effective group., Conclusion: Peripheral blood NLR and PLR could be used as a convenient, reliable, and cost-effective indicator to predict the prognosis of SSNHL., (© 2018 The Author(s) Published by S. Objective: To investigate the morbidity and pathological features of incidental prostate cancer and their clinical significance., Methods: 1483 prostate specimens obtained during operation, including transurethral resection of prostate (TURP) and total resection of the prostate, for the diagnoses of benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) or bladder cancer between January 1999 and August 2005 underwent pathological examination and 34beta12 and p63 immunohistochemical staining so as to detect incidental prostate cancer. The volume of incidental prostate cancer was calculated by the image analysis system. The clinical data were analyzed retrospectively. Comparison between the clinical and pathological feature of incidental prostate cancer was made., Results: 53 cases of incidental prostate cancer, with the Gleason scores from 2 (1+1) to 9 (4+5) and the volumes from 0.18 to 1440.00 mm(3) were detected. The morbidity of incidental prostate cancer was 3.6%. The volume of 47 cases (88.7%) were less than 0.5 cm(3) as the threshold of insignificant cancer, and the volumes of 6 cases (11.3%) were more than 0.5 cm(3). All incidental prostate cancers of clinical significance were detected in the TURP samples. Among the incidental prostate cancers found in the TURP samples 20% were clinically significant cancers. The clinically significant incidental cancers were located in the central or transitional zone with the Gleason scores of 3 + 4 (2 cases), 4 + 2 (1 case), or 4 + 5 (3 cases). These clinically significant cancers were of diffuse distribution, and their preoperative clinical features were negative in palpation/image examination, elevation of serum PSA, and negative in puncture examination., Conclusion: Nowadays, the morbidity of incidental prostate cancer is lower than that of 1980s'. Among the incidental cancers 11.3% were of clinical significance. That the preoperative clinical examination cannot find these clinical significant cancers is partially caused by the pathological features of these tumors.

Background: There is a major increase in endogenous zinc excretion, specifically via the mammary gland, in early human lactation. Whereas fractional absorption of dietary zinc has been reported to increase in early human lactation, it is not known to what extent adaptive mechanisms may maintain zinc homeostasis, especially when dietary zinc intake is relatively low., Objective: The objective of this study was to quantitate major variables of zinc homeostasis during early lactation in subjects from a population whose habitual dietary zinc intake is low., Design: We studied 18 free-living lactating women from a rural community of northeast China whose infants were exclusively breast-fed. The subjects were studied at approximately 2 mo of lactation with use of stable isotopes of zinc and metabolic collection techniques. Milk volume was measured with use of a deuterium enrichment method., Results: The mean (+/-SD) secretion of zinc in milk was 2.01 +/- 0.97 mg/d, the intake of zinc was 7.64 +/- 1.61 mg/d, and the fractional absorption of zinc was 0.53 +/- 0.09, for a total daily zinc absorption of 4.00 +/- 0.71 mg/d. Endogenous zinc excretion in urine and feces was 0.30 +/- 0.10 and 1.66 +/- 0.97 mg/d, respectively., Conclusions: Zinc balance, including zinc secreted in breast milk, was maintained at approximately 2 mo of lactation in women whose habitual diet was low in zinc. Homeostasis was achieved by high fractional absorption of zinc and intestinal conservation of endogenous fecal zinc.
