The amphiphilic polymer has excellent performance and is expected to replace traditional polymer oil-displacing agent in China. In this study, the iso-viscosity method evaluates the oil displacement performance of the betaine-type amphiphilic polymers with different content of hydrophobic groups in high salinity reservoirs. Rheometer, emulsion stability analyzer, laser particle size analyzer, and visualization of microscopic displacement are used to explore their oil displacement mechanism. The results show that the content of hydrophobic groups, and the recovery ratio of polymer flooding shows a positive correlation. The difference in the displacement performance reflects the difference in the viscoelasticity of the displacement system and the ability to emulsify crude oil. The synergistic effect of the two aspects further improves the oil washing efficiency. This study provides a reference for the practical application of the amphiphilic polymer, providing a theoretical basis to select polymer flooding agents in high salinity reservoirs. The Dmrt (Doublesex and Mab-3 related transcription factor) gene family is a class of crucial transcription factors characterized by a conserved DM (Doublesex/Mab-3) domain. Previous researches indicate this gene family is involved in various physiological processes, especially in sex determination/differentiation and gonad development. Despite the vital roles of the Dmrt gene family in physiological processes, the comprehensive characterization and analysis of the dmrt genes in large yellow croaker (Larimichthys crocea), one of the most commercially important marine fish in China, have not been described. In this study, we performed the first genome-wide systematic analysis of L. crocea dmrt genes through the bioinformatics method. A total of seven members of the Dmrt gene family including Lcdmrt1 , Lcdmrt2a , Lcdmrt2b , Lcdmrt3 , Lcdmrt4 , Lcdmrt5, and Lcdmrt6 were excavated based on the genome data of L. crocea. Further analysis revealed that the dmrt genes of L. crocea were distributed unevenly across four chromosomes. There were three dmrt genes (Lcdmrt1 , Lcdmrt2a , and Lcdmrt3) on 3rd chromosome, one (Lcdmrt6) on 13th chromosome, one (Lcdmrt4) on 14th chromosome, two on (Lcdmrt5 and Lcdmrt2b) 17th chromosome. The gene structure analysis indicated that the number of introns of different dmrt genes of L. crocea had some differences: Lcdmrt1 had four introns, Lcdmrt2a , Lcdmrt2b , and Lcdmrt6 had two introns, Lcdmrt3 , Lcdmrt4 , and Lcdmrt5 had only one intron. The expression pattern analysis with published gonad transcriptome datasets and further confirmed by qRT-PCR revealed that these members of the Dmrt gene family except for Lcdmrt4 were all sexually dimorphic and preferred expressing in testis. Furthermore, the expression pattern analysis also revealed that the expression level of Lcdmrt1 and Lcdmrt6 was significantly higher than that of other members, suggesting that these two genes may play a more important role in testis. Background: The epidemiology of upper gastrointestinal (L4) Crohn's disease in China remains poorly characterized.Aims: We aimed to identify the clinical characteristics of L4 disease and clarify the relationship between disease characteristics at diagnosis and early outcomes.Methods: We retrospectively enrolled 246 patients diagnosed between 2013 and 2017 and followed up for > 1 year post-diagnosis. Primary outcomes included the 1-year rates of hospitalization and abdominal surgery according to disease location and behavior.Results: Of 80 patients with L4 disease (61, 25, and 18 with esophagogastroduodenal, jejunal, and proximal ileal involvement, respectively), none had granuloma, whereas 66.7%, 50%, 46.9%, 75%, and 70% had disease-specific endoscopic lesions in the esophagus, stomach, duodenum, jejunum, and proximal ileum, respectively. Compared to non-L4 disease, L4 disease was associated with higher rates of abdominal surgery (41.3% vs. 11.4%, P < 0.001) but similar rates of hospitalization within 1 year post-diagnosis. In L4 disease, jejunal and proximal ileal involvement was associated with stricturing behavior (P = 0.034, P < 0.001) and higher abdominal surgery rate (both: P < 0.001). Risk factors for abdominal surgery within 1 year post-diagnosis included age ≥ 40 years (OR 1.920; 95% CI 1.095-3.367), L4 phenotype (OR 6.335; 95% CI 3.862-10.390), stricturing disease (OR 3.162; 95% CI 1.103-9.866), and penetrating disease (OR 11.504; 95% CI 3.409-38.825), whereas the protective factor was female sex (OR 0.214; 95% CI 0.123-0.373).Conclusions: Early outcomes are worse for L4 than for non-L4 disease. Jejunoileum involvement predicts stricturing disease and early surgery. More aggressive initial therapy is needed to improve L4-disease prognosis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

To evaluate the association between thyroid hormones (TH) and metabolic syndrome (MS) in postmenopausal women (PmW), a cross-sectional study was conducted with a sample of 1000 participants of PmW (40-65 years). Thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) and free thyroxine (fT4) were evaluated. The MS was defined using the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) ethnicity-specific definitions for Asian. Participants were classified into three groups according to the TSH reference range: high-TSH (≥4.2 mU/L), low-TSH (<0.1mU/L), and normal-TSH (0.1-4.2 mU/L) group. Serum triglycerides (TG) levels were higher in low-TSH group and high-TSH group compared with normal-TSH group ( p  < .05). The whole sample was stratified into <60 and ≥60 years subgroups. In the ≥60 years group, fT4 was negatively correlated with waist circumference (WC) ( p  = .028) and positively correlated with fasting blood glucose (FBG) ( p  = .043), meanwhile TSH was positively correlated with WC only in the control subjects ( p  = .014). No difference was found between TH and the number of MS components. It was demonstrated that serum fT4 levels were associated with FBG and WC, while TSH was associated with WC in elderly PmW without MS.

Objective: The study aimed to investigate the relationship between gastroduodenal disease and the diversity of the cagA 3' variable region and the amino acid polymorphisms in the Glu-Pro-Ile-Tyr-Ala (EPIYA) segments of the CagA C-terminal region of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori)., Methods: Gastric mucosal specimens from 170 patients in our center (Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, China) were collected and the genomic DNA of the H. pylori strains was extracted directly from biopsied specimens. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was used to amplify the cagA gene, and diversity in its 3' variable region was assessed by direct sequencing., Results: A total of 154 (90.6%) H. pylori isolates were cagA-positive, but the presence of this gene alone was not associated with the type of gastroduodenal disease. A total of 151 (88.8%) strains had the East Asian type EPIYA-D sequence, most of which were of ABD subtype. Three isolates from patients with chronic gastritis possessed the EPIYA-C segment. The sequences flanking the EPIYA motifs contained polymorphisms at seven residues, among which amino acid positions 878 and 879 had a statistically significant association with gastric cancer (P = 0.021). Amino acid change from glycine to aspartic acid at residue 968 was present only in patients with gastric cancer (4/20) (P < 0.001)., Conclusions: Most H. pylori strains present in our study are of the CagA-ABD subtype. A field survey of the overwintering planthoppers (Hemiptera: Delphacidae) associated with the rice agroecosystems in southern Yunnan was carried out during January-February in 2010 and 2011. 22 species of planthoppers were collected and identified, with one species representing the subfamily Stenocraninae and the other 21 species in Delphacinae. Nycheuma cognatum (Muir), Peregrinus maidis (Ashmead), and Pseudosogata vatrenus (Fennah) were new provincial records for Yunnan. The pest species, Sogatella furcifera (Horváth), Nilaparvata lugens (Stål), and Laodelphax striatellus (Fallén) were able to overwinter in part of the survey range. 13 species were listed to be of economic importance. Abandoned rice paddies with dense Poaceae grasses (Poaceae) were the most favorable overwintering habitat. The survey range was divided into four regions and five areas based on natural geographical characteristics. The study demonstrated that winter temperature differentiation, terrains, and habitat differences were three factors affecting planthopper diversity. Planthopper species diversity showed a reductive trend from south to north and reflected a gradient of more severe winter temperatures. In addition, planthopper diversity was influenced by smaller-scale differences in terrain and habitat, as evidenced by greater diversity in the valleys and low-altitude areas as compared to mid-mountain and Karst plain areas.

Genetic variation of seven microsatellite loci BM1818, BM1258, BM1443, BM1905, BM302, BM4505 and CYP21 which were closely linked to somatic cell score (SCS) was analyzed in 240 Beijing Holstein cows with nondenaturing polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Allele frequencies, heterozygosity, polymorphic information content, the effective number of alleles of seven microsatellite loci were calculated. Relationships between seven microsatellite loci and somatic cell score in Beijing Holstein cows were primarily analyzed by least squares linear model. Least squares means of SCS for BM1818 (284 bp/284 bp), BM1258 (106 bp/92 bp), BM1443 (166 bp/160 bp), BM1905 (187 bp/187 bp), BM302 (142 bp/140 bp), BM4505 (240 bp/236 bp) and CYP21 (215 bp/198 bp) were relatively lower,and their genotypes were the most favorable genotypes in respective locus for mastitis resistance. Least squares means of SCS for BM1818 (286 bp/286 bp), BM1258 (102 bp/102 bp), BM1443 (170 bp/160 bp), BM1905 (197 bp/195 bp), BM302 (154 bp/145 bp), BM4505 (240 bp/238 bp) and CYP21 (204 bp/192 bp) were relatively higher,and their genotypes were the most unfavorable genotypes in respective locus for mastitis resistance. The information found in the present study would be very important for improving mastitis resistance in dairy cattle by marker assisted selection.
